Maybe you ought to play the game instead of using it as babies first stock market?

i do play the game but i also sell the cards i don't want or need.
>falling for the sealed lottery meme
That $50 could have bought you pieces you were actually going to use.

The only way to make money buying sealed product is to not open it and sell it when the prices go up. Even than that only works when it's something that will be in demand later.

When I was in middle school I knew a guy that would open packs of pokemon cards with a razor, keep any cards that were valuable, replacing them with worthless ones, then he'd "re-seal" the packs with a glue-stick and sell them to people after class.
Then the school ended up banning Pokemon cards on campus anyway (for unrelated reasons).

Maybe you ought not buy sealed products.
I buy the good new cards from a set as soon as they come out, unless it's expensive then I trade for it or buy it from some kid for 50% of retail.
I kept all the good cards from past sets, but I was away from the game for two years, so for Modern cards I need from those sets I just get fakes from the based chinaman. My Snapcasters, MM Goyfs, Lilianas, and Leyline of Sanctity are perfect.
I only play Legacy with proxies because it's a dying format.
