The center of the labyrinth is filled with nothing.

Once you get in, you can't get out. It's a bend in spacetime. That's why it's in a labyrinth. The aliens found or created this anomaly in spacetime and build a labyrinth around it to keep anyone from falling into it.

Who knows that kind of things have fallen in that hole before you did? Who knows what they are... who knows how hungry they are...

What are some ways to introduce noobs to the system? I think I might have a potential group and after I go through their pfg game I may try to bring up EP and entice them into playing.

Obviously giving them the main book and letting them go is the way to do it but obviously there is a lot of lore to understand before the majority of the setting begins to make sense.

If a party of heavily armed mercs/player characters get in a large shootout in the slummier bits of extropia what sorts of organized forces should they expect to face? Or will they only really encounter armed individuals or cooperating handfuls of enemies, because nobody can afford security contracts? One of my players has argued for the latter option being the predominant response, unless they accidentally endanger someone that matters.
>>
>>50906302

I mean, Extropia has a pretty decent population. That said, if you're in a shitty neighborhood, then yes, obviously the people there aren't rolling in dough. Militia/posse, self-defense and mutual aid contracts are probably the most common.

However it's not only important people they might endanger, but property - which is highly valued by extropian ideals. If you damage actual structures/property people own, expect response from drones, maybe dedicated security guards. If anything you endanger might resemble hab infrastructure, Medusan Shield riot squads will start pouring in to break shit up before somebody breaks something important.

Kitted out like you'd expect for a team of sentinels given wide access to blueprints and materials for a week or two. It was mostly a theoretical matter, but if I tell them it will mostly be rabble my player might try to carve out a domain in the extropian slums. I imagine he'd stop short of a murder frisbee squad, but it would be something like a fork army of guard synths with partical beams or similar. He was tossing around the idea of going in with an entroptic banner declaring he would cease and desist hostilities against anyone that signed his protection contract and declared him boss.
>>
>>50905550
The good old boys at OZMA vs which Firewall freaks?
>>
>>50914115

Yeah, pretty sure extropia doesn't allow you to "carve out". Well, okay, in the REAL shitty areas, where you go into the old mining tunnels and are off the grid you might - but then your free market competition is other criminal shitbags.

But your domain can't be held by force. You have to pay Extropy Now at minimum to utilize hab space and resources, not accounting for any other services, subcontractors and the like who might own rights before you. Taking shit by Force will mean people start shitposting about you on @-list until either you get vigilanted, or as noted Medusa just shows up and is like "You have 60 seconds to comply". Extropia has very carefully engineered it's society and will resist the idea that some guy with more gun can come along and take over - it will be a social anathema to most residents.

I wrote it a long time ago, back before I'd actually played the game (in the same boat as most people in this thread). If I had to write it again I'd push some of the numbers around but overall not change much. Nobody else seems to have written any adventures on Europa and you could easily port it to regular EP if you changed one or two details.

If you were originally a soul-sorter for Nine Lives, and are good-ish because you are rebelling against them by stealing all the forks they napped that you can, you are going to be good-ish in a fantastically different way than if you are a traffic optimization AGI that got obsoleted, but released after being found to be alive.

You decide how to be good based on who you are/were and what good means to you.

Do people in still celebrate the new year?
>>
>>50963837

Probably? Ish. Depends on what you mean by "celebrate" and "the new year".

LLA probably does, they're on the same orbit as Earth - so same year period. I assume for purposes of scale, a lot of people still use Earth as a standard year, but technically everyone has their OWN calendar year based on orbital period they have or the host body has. So Martian New Year is completely different from Venus New Year from Saturnian New Year.
>>
>>50963973
Meanwhile, there's likely a Scum Barge or even a small swarm dedicated to celebrating EVERYONE'S new year, including calculating the respective lunar calendars for Saturn and Jupiter, just so they can have appropriate New Years Bashes for them, synced with to-the-minute count-downs for each time-zone-type arrangement in each polity on each celestial body. They also live-stream various swarm elements to those respective polities.

They might, at some point, run out of champaign.

Might.
>>
>>50964033

And then the snooty wine snob swarm comes along and insists they've run out of champagne for a long time, as the Champagne province of France has been destroyed for like 10 years.
>>
>>50964049
So, that sounds like a plot hook to me.

The Scum Barge "New Year's Ball" commissions a mission to Earth, with guaranteed cargo lifts of 50 lbs per person, to get them to bring back two handfuls of soil from a specific region of earth, carefully packed so they can grow actual, (semi-)authentic champaign, just to rub it in the snooty wine snob swarm's face.

My players found out something important they really shouldn't and are being targeted by an assassin. They know this, and nothing more. What's the best one to inflict on the party? I want to make them actually fear him. If not fear, at least worry about the fact.

>classic super sneaky type. It's possible to find obvious signs of his presence, but that's it, and he can strike at any moment. "The wait for death is worse then death" kind of scene.
>overwhelming force type. Appears out of nowhere, makes a dynamic entry through the wall then literally rips apart everything in sight, literal combat drugs for blood, zero fucks about stealth, think Eversor from 40K. Best bet is to run.
>mindfuck/traps type. Impersonates contacts, gathers info through indirect means and forknapping, exploits weaknesses and uses trickery a lot, all coupled up with No Ivan everything is bomb.

>>50975870
Depends on the goals of the employer. Are they trying to send a message? Any of them are good in that case, especially if they hit fast and leave the players wondering what even happened from the bodybank.

If they want to actually stop the leak, they'll need a good ego killer who can find and destroy enough of the PC's digital footprint to ensure they don't remember, or have access to the information, and that means something like number 3. A super hacker who can erase your past.

Something that I find players often don't grasp is that a social character WRECKS in Eclipse Phase because they essentially have bonus currency, and if they don't have knowledge or skills they know someone who does. He doesn't just kill you - first he ruins you, so nobody will mourn your death or really care about resleeving you. THEN he kills you.

What are some fun ways to use TITANs in a campaign that simultaneously feel extremely dangerous to players and NPCs and at the same time give off the feeling of hostile semi-indifference or playful cat-like murderous intent?

My first thought was that first, you have to put the event with the TITAN(s) in a campaign that isn't about TITANs because a campaign about TITANs themselves is boring - either you do injustice to TITANs as a whole by turning them in "diamond cannons", or it just becomes a question of why the players would enter and stay inside a space station that eats 2d20 investigators a turn.

>>

IIRC, the section says something like they might perform basic tasks in a pinch, but yeah. They might pull the trigger, but they'd never have a chance in hell of hitting anything. I mean, without Pilot: Anthroform, the muse probably doesn't really know much about fine manipulation with fingers - its a Secretarial AI.

ALI also have many limiters and security features on their behavior, like obeying the law and following orders from authorized users, violence is probably not in most of their natures.

There's 5 full profiles:
Cronus: The first TITAN to wake up, and is designed for top level strategic analysis and planning, to beat other ASI planners like 100 Flowers. Cronus seemed to get through the Fall with less Exsurgent degradation of capability, and is thought to still be operating covert agents going after several AGI targets.

Akonus: The Socialite TITAN. Originally built to understand, predict, and take advantage of individual humans. A psychological expert believed to still be operating a number of puppets and sleeper agents in the solar system.

Hecaloth: A TITAN thought to be operating in the solar system by firewall. Thought to be the "Martian TITAN" which may have a physical base in the TQZ white zone. Firewall is super paranoid that Hecaloth may be targeting Firewall or hunting a promethean.

Myrmidon: A TITAN which coordinated attacks on earth orbit habs. Aggressive. Primary processor locus thought to have been destroyed but not recovered during the battle of L4.

Theia: The merger of 5 pre-fall TITAN clusters. Financial and logistic specialist. Instrumental in acquiring physical assets for the TITANs during the early and covert stages of the Fall. Believed to still be operating in the solar system. The Keikaku TITAN with a contingency for everything (moreso than normal).

There's also mentions of profiles for Ogre, Cyclops, and Goliath, which are incomplete and represent 1-3 nanowarfare specialized TITANs.
