In the past /tg/ made many homebrew races whi were great. I suggest we change the recipe and do it again.
Usual recipe is just find an existng animal and an exisitng culture and mash them together.
The most iconic races in fantasy are elves and dwarves (and orc but orcs don't fit this recipe so I will ignore them).
Both have very little changes from human physiology: Pointy ears and short+beard.
Also currently they are thematicaly tied to an element. Stone and trees.
So we chose a little body variation (ex:split tongue or four ears) and an element (ex: fire or resin/sap) and flesh out a culture.
P.S. And please no more short people. WIth dwarves, gnomes and halfling that avenue is oversaturated.
P.P.S. Original orcs can be included as ugly humans.

Bald people with mould growing on them. Their element is natural decay; they hang around in decaying ivy-choked ruins in the middle of the forest.

Dropped.
That artist is all over the place. Elves bigger than humans and Orcs.

That's the Tolkien model, where elves are taller.
Also, D&D is weird, because orcs are shorter than humans, but half-orcs are taller.

Marimo! And all of them wield 3 katanas. Shitposting aside I like it.
So how many are intrested? Let's start with proposing changes and elements and then vote for the final ones.
Then we will start creating a culture.

>what is mythology
Four armed maw-chested beings with tiny eyes and spherical bodies. Almost like a fleshy gravellor. Or a squig with arms.

Make them voodoo swamp people. They primarily worship the life and death cycle. They are fantastic healers (natural and medicinal, not magical), live at one with their own decaying swamp.
You can make their skin covered in moss and algae, giving them mottled look. No two are exactly the same because the algae grows differently for each person. Mostly variations on blues, greens and greys.
They use and recycle everything. Death breeds rebirth. That tree that fell from a mudslide makes a great canoe. They love fruits and nuts that have already fallen from the tree. They scavenge the carcass of dead animals.

Well, how about clay folk?
Sort of wise giants, that can have many forms and sizes.
Maybe seen by mortal race as demi-gods. And having somewhat pre-historic tune in them.
They got often named the oldest sapient being and have a long history of ruling over lesser ones. Now days majority of them dont interfere with young races, there is exceptions of course. But even these rare individuals prefer words to deeds.
As completly magical creature they dont procreate normally, for commonfolks they just reincarnate, get reborn by earth herself. This process require at lest two clay giants, as flesh of dying one (they dont die of old age, they just watchers and pass their duty to rested ones, and after of couple of decades they reemerge again) get reused for newborn.
