Makes for great tavern ambiance. Used it several times for sessions with my group.
I love playing music for my players. It's a very intrinsic part of my DMing style. Here are a few of my select favorites.

I've used this battle theme for many encounters since discovering it. Great for do-or-die duels with cut throat rogues and menacing thugs.

Another great theme to play while setting the stage for a combat encounter and rolling initiative. Usually just long enough before going into the actual fight.

Yet another classic. Any kind of magic item shop or apothecary can easily have this in the BG while you flavor the shit out of it and it's store keeper. Also good any kind of mystic NPC you introduce.

My campaigns often have scenes or adventures that take place in forlorn wilderness. Ancient battlefields, highland bogs, or moor country. This music fits great. But because of the orchestral swell at the end, I usually use the begining for description, then when the end begins, I weave in an omen the PC's experience.

Finally, I use this great piece by Jeremy Soule for any kind of simple but run down dugout, hovel, village, etc. Any place filled with toiling peasants, eking out an existence in a fantasy world. This is great BG music when mixed with other NWN and D2 town music.

The usual...
Dead Can Dance:
>Mysterious and tribal transitioning to spiritual and Medieval. Good for setting a spooky scene. Recommended albums: Spirit Chaser, Into the Labyrinth, Aion.
Nierika -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AAkq2Vm5wQ
The Arrival and the Reunion -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOauyq9Upxo
Yulunga -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJqUbb-WuPQ&feature=youtu.be&t=2m31s
Tuatara:
>Haunting. Jazzier than Dead Can Dance, but with similar applications. Recommended albums: Breaking the Ethers, Cinemathique (Trading with the Enemy is pretty good too).
Dark State of Mind -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfHV-KhjaJ0
The Melting Sun – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nYP1LZRpZQ
The Streets of New Delhi – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekpS4SfuBxE
The Conan the Barbarian Soundtrack:
>Powerful orchestral music. Makes you want to walk through doors without opening them first. Great for battle.
Riders of Doom -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onGWF8mz1Zw&feature=youtu.be&t=1m36s
The Orgy -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOUs6er51bI
Anvil of Crom -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j6nyEcIk98
Ian Anderson's album, Divinities:12 Dances with God:
>Light orchestral music: sometimes whimsical, sometimes soaring, but usually fairly minimalist. Good for exotic foreign ports and travel when danger isn't menacing.
In the Pay of Spain -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHJEe4oqc1M
In Sight of the Minaret -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK6ue0vD4gI
In The Moneylender's Temple -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQjkSbTKBv4
Chris Poland's album, Return to Metalopolis--
>Instrumental thrash moving towards jazz; a bit Satriani-esque. Haunting and wistful but nevertheless energetic. Good for riding into the lost ruins of Kyzanaek trailed by saber-wielding ghouls.
Alexandria -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIHY0xAR4jo
Apparition Station -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXY_fRDF2pc

>At the end of each session I do a "Meanwhile..." segment to fill the players in on the goings on across their world, I use different tracks from One Piece during these sections.
Other than this me and my players tend to use various fantasy soundtracks from Zelda to Warcraft to Darkest Dungeon etc.. I've definitely used specific tracks to set the mood for specific scenes because my players have all told me they like that.

Also, instrumental Iron Maiden is good stuff for those of you who want something with a little kick but who are distracted by singing.
