Im starting Solar Auxilia and I have a rules question.

In a Solar Auxilia list, if you give a Lord Marshal a displacer matrix, he is immedietely sent into reserves on an invuln save roll of 1.

Combined with his 3+ invuln, does this mean you can only be wounded on 2's? Or does a roll of 1 wound you AND send you to reserves?
>>
>>50863476
You still take the wound.
>>
>>50863476
Unless the rules say the wound is ignored, then it would seem like result of 1 sends him to reserves and wounds him.
>>
Anybody here play the SW? I'm trying to get some inspiration for my own dudes. I'm planning on doing them up with most of them having some sort of firearm/ccw combination and I'd also like to get some ideas of how to 'dress' them up to straddle the wolf line between the realms of yiffs and vikings in space. If nobody here, then maybe some other places to check. I already know a few, but 2 repeat and 1 new recomendations is still 1 new one.
>>
>>50863531
Add a wolf pelt on some marines, not all of them and only one, give them knives instead of chainswords to give them a certain 'savage' or 'informal' look.

Dwarf axes (thunderer kit, at least, comes with loose ones) and high elf spearman swords in scabbard make nice Celtic style CCWs for tacticals. Maybe Chaos Warrior top knots for helmets. Anvil makes capes with fur that fits on Marine backs (leaves a space for the backpack connection).

I made my force a mix of generic legion and SW Celtic, modelling it after something like late Roman legions, a mix of Roman and medieval. Idea is that the leader is a Terran vet, as are some of the old guard, while newer dudes are more Fenrisian, so there's a mix there. Some units will be super Imperial with aquila shoulder pads and laurels on their helmets while others are more SW with skulls painted onto face masks and pelts hanging from armour.
>>
>>50863750
Wasn't my first choice but better than Omegon.
>>
Would it be acceptable if I converted BaC heavy bolters into autocannons by giving them extended barrels?
>>
The Orbital Assault RoW allows your Rapiers to take Drop Pods. According to the Drop Pod entry a single Drop Pod can accommodate a single Rapier and its crew.

How does this work if you have a Rapier Battery of 2 or 3 Rapiers who have formed a squadron? Can you only drop pod down Batteries formed from a single Rapier (a massive waste of an elite slot)?

I got $300 for Christmas to spend of FW. Sadly with local exchange rates that's only worth 100 pounds. What would be the best thing to get for that much?
>>
>>50864273
What Legion do you play?
>>
>>50864309

All of them.

Literally, my overall goal is to have an army for all 18 Legions, plus Mechanicum, Imperial Army and Knights. I want to be able to refight the entire Heresy on my own.
>>
>>50864329
I hope to hear more about this. As for your price limit, you can never go wrong with legion specifics or your basic infantry.
>>
>>50864350

With 120 Plastic Marines (60 each in Mk III and Mk IV) and 50 resins (30 Mk IV and 20 Mk II) I think I have enough men for now.

Weapons and Shoulder Pads will probably be the order of the day.

In cannon, are every marines "Vanilla" like Out Of Box Propero/Calth or are they heavily modified like with the FW bits ?

I'm also kinda lost on the MK armor since ot looks like everychapter created their own armor/helmet with fw kits...
>>
>>50864500
I assume that new recruits had standard stuff.

After they go through some battle, they will either need replacement parts or modifications to suit their needs.
>>
>>50864500

They have little extra bits and pieces everywhere plus pouches for magazines and grenades but essentially they look like normal marines

I love some of the more baroque depictions of space marines as I never felt like marines should be all that standardized between chapters in 40k

30k on the other hand they should be vaguely uniform

>>50864500
I imagine that in the tens of thousands of marines in each Legion, foot-sloggers would have the most generic gear with minimal variety (like in the BaC and BoP sets), while those with experience, that have fought with distinction, or serve under a recognized officer would have access to more specialized or ornamented gear. Some Legions are also more inclined to modifications and personalization, while others are fairly straightforward/uniform

As far as I remember, it was an accident. The Imperium had run into the Laer on previous occasions, but Fulgrim made a point during that campaign to kill them off once and for all. Unfortunately, the Emperor's Children are notable among the Legions for loving to take trophy weapons from defeated enemies, and sometimes even use them.

Will we eventually be using GW Plague Marine models for DG by the time we get to the siege?
>>
'Twas the night before Atheistmas when all through the mist
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Fist
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Leman Russ soon would be there

The Custodes were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of flavoured corpse starch danced in their heads
And Malcador with his staff, and I in my plate
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's respite.

When out in the courtyard there arose such a clatter,
I sprung from my chamber to see what was the matter.
And Magnus, my son, appeared there with a flash,
Frightened the populace with an almighty crash!

"Father!" He cried out, "Horus is fallen!"
"What!?" I tiraded, all shoutin'and callin'
When, to my maddening eyed should appear,
But the traitorous fleet and Seven Primarchs I fear.

In a moment, my marines, set about with chainsword and gun.
I knew in a moment; "Battery and cannon."
More rapid then eagles his thralls they came,
And he bombarded, and deployed, all was fire and flame!

"Now Sanguinius! Now, Jaghatai! Now, Rogal Dorn!"
"On Fulgrim! On Curze! On Mortarion, Angron!"
"To the top of that spire!" To the base of that wall!"
"Now march on! March On! MARCH UPON ALL!"

As guns bombarded and before them wild astartes loot,
And macrocannon, and lance battery shoot,
And so on up to my palace-top my marines, they fought,
With the warp full of daemons, and advantages were sought.
>>
>>50866481
And then, for reasons unknown, as I heard from an aide;
"Sire! THe Vengeful Spirit's shields are a-fade!"
As I drew in my power, and conferred with my Sons
Up toward the teleport we charged, our hearts weighed a ton

He was clad all in scale, from his head to his foot,
And his skin was all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A wolf pelt he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a God, at the behest of powers black.

His eyes - how they burned! His mind - what a will!
His face was like madness, his maul - an anvil!
His cruel little mouth was drawn up as a sneer,
And the beard of his chin was black without peer.

The stump of The Angel's head he held tight in his claw,
And his body slumped, I - a moment too late, delayed by the War.
Tears sprang to my eyes and I fell to the floor,
That shook when he laughed, my psyche now torn.

We duelled and fought, me and his-damned-self,
And I held back when I fought him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon told me that I had everything to dread.

He spoke many a word, to turn me to the Gods,
He ripped off my arm, then against all the odds.
A lone guardsman entered the bridge
And defied Him and died, as you would slay a midge

I sprang to my feet and to my powers I called upon
And away his soul died, and to you I leave a new dawn
And with a last breath I exclaim to the Imperium, bright
"Happy Athiestmas to all, and to all a good night!"
>>
>>50865898

My girlfriend really likes the Sons of Horus, but we're struggling to retain the feel of the legion in an initial 1k list to start off. Just a centurion, some troops, and a few supporting elements, mostly focusing on infantry and a few lighter vehicles, before adding beatsticks.

Anybody have sample lists they like to use? 2k+ are fine, just need to get a feel for the general composition, aside from spamming Justaerin.

Why does BL turn everybody into autists somehow. Primarchs, marines, custodes, SoS ... nobody is safe.

Say lads, I'm trying to into a basic pre-heresy Blood Angels force. How should I be kitting out my dudes and building the list? And by that I mean: should my tacticals just be basic or should they have CCW weapons, should I have jump pack troops or deapoilers, what armor type makes the most sense, etc. Any tips appreciated.
>>
>>50869865

Despoilers will do well but remember the Prospero Mk3s all come with chainswords that can be put on their belts, so you can do bolter+CCW just fine easily.

Assault marines are fantastic and if you're in the US, Mk2/4/5 Assault marines are nearly the same price as regular plastic assault marines MSRP.

First off
>my girlfriend really likes the Sons of Horus
You lucky faggot

But to actually help you/her, like pretty much any other legion, as a whole they don't fair well in general at small point levels. SoH/LW are one of those legions that get hit even harder if your playing fluffy simply because you've got an emphasis on elite units, but no really cheap ways to use them.

But like everyone else is saying, you should go for an orbital assault based army (Not that our rites aren't good, they're just difficult at low point games). Since you said shes likes the Dreads, drop podded cortus/contemptors with chsinfist and grav guns work wonders against vehicles. Or you can go for the combi weapon approach for all your special anti-whatever needs. Death Dealers is a wonderful thing It just sucks that reavers are so expensive and are completely overshadowed by vets in everything but certain close combat scenarios.

How do you equip your Thallax and Thralls, fellow tech-brothers? Starting to slowly convert my lobotomised hordes.

For Thallax, Destructor and a Photon Thruster seems nice to jet around and poke away at armour while scoring forward objectives, but it is a bit expensive.

For Thralls, AFAIK Carapace and Fearless is nice, plus Revenants if I have the points spare. Seems like I want to keep them fairly cheap, but having stickier tarpits is always handy in my experience.

Dorn and Ferrus were both single minded dudes.
But while Dorn could take orders, Ferrus knew that at some point shit would hit TR fan in times of peace. However, since he was a genius in technology, he could have still be of use in the Imperium. His legion would have been bothe some at some point though, especially with their hatred of weakness and detachmental from humanity.

I'd say the probleme wasn't in Primarchs by themselves, but rather the mower they commanded. While the three I've given were loyal without defect, the most important point I that they have their use in something other than war. The other loyalist didn't. In the end, even if they ever did allow theie legion to be killed or die out, they would have ended as supremely powerful and charismatic leaders, with jackshit to do when their sole purpose was to be generals. At some point they would have turned against the Emperor because Tyrant, because I can do your job better, because I want muh independance, what have you, while those that have stuff to do would be kept and invaluable.

Ok...usefull dudes outside of war:
Girlyman as administrator,Ferrus as resident non mechanicum tech guy, vulkan for a similar reason..maybe, sanguinius and fulgrim potentially filling the same niche of artsy diplomancers...with Fulgrims boys honestly being potentially more usefull as they strived for perfection in all things.
Magnus and his boys as potential psycher corps and maybe throne food.

I am unsure about Lorgar, since he could be very usefull as a very good apostle of imperial truth.
Mortarion,Kurze and angron are the most damaged and thus cant really offer much beyond war The alphalfas also seem to belong here, since only half of them were pro imperial spymasters but mostly seemed to just fuck up stuff for the hell of it.

If Malcador was still alive then he would've joined up with the Alpha legion and aid the Imperium from the shadows, an entire legion doing the work of the Inquisition.

Dorn is the praetorian of Terra, his legion would be in charge of defending the throne world just like it is now.

The galaxy is huge, there will always be place for conquerors and so Horus and the Khan would push their legions to the limits of the galaxy seeking new worlds to conquer. They would be first to die once they reach the Tyranid fleets.
>>
>>50872366

Magnus was probably the one Empy could relate the most in his grand plans, especially since he meant the Golden throne to be used by either him or the big Jalapeño.

And Dorn is the only warrior that had a potential use as he was loyal to a fault, and defense centered. When you're done conquering the whole galaxy, you need someone to fortify it.

Snip down the "spinal" pillar that has the head attached to it and carve space around the neck joint to fit the whole helmet.

I wouldn't recommend doing it on an already assembled termie though

Yes, but Vulkan made his wonderful, unique, transformative inventions.
Pertuarbo got as far as clockwork soldiers on his desk; one of his plans for an amphitheatre was taken and turned into the Nikean trial venue by the mechanicum, and the other only happened becaue Fulgrim wanted to butter him up and fancied a place to grandstand.

note I do not post this as a slight to beep boop fans. being tragically denied what they would prefer is one of the themes of Iron Warriors.

You know, maybe Fulgrim did build a better pointy stick, Vulkan did build the better hammers and Dreadnought and Perturabo was indeed a better engineer, but you know what?
Ferrus was an adventurer that went around killing motherfucking zombie metal drakes bare handed, no metal hands or anything, and his whole legion decided mortal weapons would wound them only on a 6.
Ferrus is Fallout, and like a good Vault dweller he researched power armour tech until he invented Cataphractii and Indomitus plate, as well as gifting weapons to his brothers, like Fulgrim, Vulkan and Lorgar.

Thank you both,

As a baseline inspiration for these helmets, I'm going off of what I can see from False Gods and the Eye of Terra covers arts. It's not much, but they have side, back and almost full frontal shots scattered around on the covers so it's easy enough to fill in the minor gaps. The one thing that I like most about what i'm trying to do with them is how they have this weird Roman vibe to them. It's sort of hard to explain, but if you look at a Roman helmet (pic provided) you'll see that it looks like an up-armored/somewhat stream lined version. In the next thread, i can post some hand drawn concepts in the next thread, I'm no pencil artist, but you'll see what i mean

>>
>>50873637

Angel Exterminatus was an absolute crime against Perturabo. Credit goes to McNeil for his grand attempt to humanize the minds of the most mentally inhuman primarchs, but Occam's Razor applies here, as it always does in the mindset of the Iron Lord. Simplicity is the key, expedience the goal. His is a mind entirely composed of mathematical equations, looking at the world around him in angles and percentages, statistics and numbers. Emotion is unwelcome, an unfactorable variable, but it's always there, the ghost that haunts his finely tuned thoughts. He buried his dreams and his heart on Olympia's ridges, and willingly cut all ties and dived into Hell, because his Father asked him to. He murdered millions, because his father asked him to. He broke empires, shattered armies, and his Legion bore the most grievous wounds and losses, because his father asked him to. And he ignored the implications of it all, because his Father asked him to.
>>
>>50873580
Are you sure you weren't supposed to go to the XIII Legion, terran?
>>50873598
Absolutely, you're right. Let me rephrase, perhaps? It's undeniable that being a frustrated thinker and inventor denied his rightful recognition and opportunities is a huge part of Pert's character. But he needs *some* evidence of that in the fluff, otherwise he would just be a deluded boaster, and there has to be some solid ground for his characterisation's hopes to be built on, otherwise he's just a fantasist and it all never happening is not tragic.

So we are given his ascension of Olympia. But is a primarch putting his house in order that impressive? It seems to be expected. And he didn't deliver a star empire or whatever. It didn't satisfy Pert.
And then he went back and broke it. Similar to the decimation. Not good enough. Not what I wanted. Not how it should be. I
The more I think about it, Pertuarbo and Fulgrim really should have become friends, had not fate and maximum bitterness got in the way.

I'm just thinking out loud based on your and other anon's points, not claiming I'm right btw.
>>
>>50873697

Do you honestly believe none of this ground into his long lost humanity, the empty core of his being that he cut out, because his Father asked him to?

He is War-Broken. We're talking about God-Level traumatic mental disorder here. Perturabo can't control his emotions at times. He stares out at nothingness, and speaks to his past. One moment, he's unreachable, and the next he's ripping your head off because you brought him bad news. He can become utterly lost in fine details, both in crafting weaponry, and tearing down citadels. It calms him, returns his mind back to the emotionless numbers that represent hundreds of thousands of his sons dying. The further detached he became from reality, the further he tried to hide from the horror he was crafting, the worse his emotions got.

And Perturabo still buried that shit. He moved forward. He got the damn job done, and the next, and the next, with precise equations and algorithms.

Olympia was the line crossed. His mind broke, his heart broke, and he became the Monster he ran from his whole life.

Because his Father asked him to.

The grander themes are ok, McNeil developed a habit of fixating on details and then explaining them to show how clever he is / make you feel clever for understanding them, to the overall detriment of the quality of the work. I explained the connections between AE and Storm of Iron to my gf just earlier today, and when I concluded with the Hon...*wipes smudges*...Sou part she just sighed and said that it was terrible.
Plus his writing seems to communicate he has an ego, which I find off-putting. Horse for courses and all that, obv.

Yeah, it turns out the Ulator Projector is a solid rod followed by a series of segmented disks. If I don't put on the pointed emitter at the end, I can create a mounting to attach a 2" speaker to the end. So all I need to do is find a 2" speaker that is MP3 compatible, and I SHOULD be able to blast bad music at people when I drop pieplates.

The hard part is going to be the exposed wires. The Sonic gun is way too long to run wires directly through, so I need to find a way to hide the wires through the construction.

You know, just as I was thinking that the Iron Warriors were a bit irrelevant when you compare their toys and methods to the Ordo Reductor, I read something like that and I remember why I considered Iron Warriors allies for my Admech. Who knows, once I have my Matrix of Ruin pimped out I might start a Legion. I get that way sometimes, there's an excellent and sad explanation for why the 40k Admech are like they are that made me pick them as my first army.

Also, there's really not many batreps of Ordo Reductor around. Seems like most people run Cybernetica. I mean, the robots are cool, but sometimes you need to appreciate the simpler things. like craters.
>>
>>50873833

Ordo Reductor needs more unique models. I want FW to make them an Artillery Platform with a ton of different guns you can put on it, and some sort of Breacher Squad for spearheading assaults into the breaches made by their Siege Engines.

>It's undeniable that being a frustrated thinker and inventor denied his rightful recognition and opportunities is a huge part of Pert's character.
I do agree with your point. I mean he wanted to shine in fields other than military science and un-making
>And he didn't deliver a star empire or whatever.
Unlike Dorn and Guilliman, Perturabo didn't inherit a Star Empire, so he had to build one himself. He even towed the Dark Judges' archaeotech all the way to Olympia and built the Iron Ring out of it, made his planet the head of the whole star cluster, which is bigger than a single system. Not saying Dorn's ir Guilliman's were single systems, just saying Perturabo did build something great.

All the more bitter that he had to break Olympia with by his own hand in the rebellion.

>>50873714
Tbh I think AE only adds to this, it doesn't take away. He lets his guard down once in his life, and what happens? He gets betrayed, used in a daemonic ritual and gets his sons lured into a trap. When he orders the IW fleet to dive straight into the black hole, he is past caring

I think the fact that there's no model for an ORAT has been great. It opens up for a lot of conversions materials. For example, I picked up a set of legion basilisk / medusa parts and the old Hydra sets, so I could make some turreted artillery using the parts and some 3d printed bits. I plan on basing the basilisk off the Batchat 155, and the medusas off the CGC.
>>
>>50873889

He never drew attention to himself or do anything to try and make people see the job he was doing. And he also treated most of his brothers like shit. Calling Corax a Coward for not wanting to throw his Legion into a pointless frontal assault isn't selling himself well, and it seems aside from Horus and Magnus Peturabo didn't want to have anything to do with any of his Brothers, which can't have made them willing to give Peturabo a second glance.

It's not a one-way street. Peturabo might have been shafted, but he never did anything to try and alleviate that fact.

Yeah, they need some more love. Maybe some kind of crawler thing carrying a Void Shield Generator that has benefits against Barrage weapons? That allows you to do a creeping barrage type thing and push up groups of Myrmidons, Thallax, Vorax and such under the shield at two or three points in the enemy line, shrugging off scattered hits and counterfire.

I don't particularly want an artillery platform unless it was relatively cheap, since in the fluff they're disposable. Maybe an upgrade kit for a Basilisk or two that comes with a basic mounting and different barrels, as well as some Mechanicum crew? That would be good, especially if they sold them in pairs for £30 or so, so you could upgrade squadrons more easily.

>>50873915

I feel the same way. The tanks I have planned for my Admech are either Chimeras or Basilisks with different guns, plus servitor crew. Bit dull, but these are expendable workhorses. It's a tad hard to get hold of a Medusa cannon on its own, though, and I am trying to work out how to mount it on the Basilisk without ripping a huge hole in the gunshield. I would mount a third party gun in the back of a Chimera like pic related, but I play at a GW and they'd probably not allow that.
>>
>>50874020
depends on the GW, my one doesnt mind some third party bits like a few guns unless the whole vehicle is third party. Yours might be stricter though.
>>
Hey HH anons, I've a question.

What's a good way to run Word Bearers?

I want to do a melee heavy list, but I'm not sure what RoW to use. I'm thinking probably Pride or Chosen Duty for troop vets, maybe? That way all my troops have 3 attacks and can have up to two meltaguns in 10 man squads?

Also, what would be a good model for a Delegatus? I have BaC that I'm going to paint up as Ultramarines and Word Bearers for the board game, but then I realised that if I added in a Praetor or Delegatus I'd have two full armies that might add up to an about equal points costs.

Well, I may as well ask before I waste loads of effort. I guess I could always cut down a Basilisk cannon and bulk it up a bit if required.
I don't want to spend loads on the artillery, my Forge World stuff will probably be two Thallax cohorts and a Magos. The rest I'm probably going to convert unless I decide I want a Krios Venator (probably will eventually) or can't find a good proxy or conversion for a Lightning Fighter, which is unlikely.

I'm phoneposting, but the OR was indeed promised exclusive LoWs, and that's coming from the faction that can bring three Minotaur lites as a single Heavy Support choice.

I know it wasn't necessary, but come on Corax, a bit of attrition warfare now and then, don't be a bird pussy :^)
Also, I on the personal like Morty, but can you blame engie Pert for disliking smelly XIVth and his moonshine armour? But you're right: he was too demanding and that didn't help him get friends.
Arguably Perturabo was too far up his own ass, kek. No wonder he'd ve uncomprehended.

Srry, not bullying WBs is my new year's resolution. Meaning I'm not stopping anytime this year.
Also, melee is a good way to use those compulsory ICs/chaplains. Transportation, as always, is the real issue here.

DANG IT! I was going to post ", other than away from?" But I didn't. I should have.

Yeah, transports seem like the hardest part. I was thinking maybe Land Raiders? But then I remembered that they only have 10 man capacity and got sad, because regular Land Raiders should have 11 man capacity, if only to appease my autism.
>>
>>50874502
Well I wish they fit 12 men, or at least one variant so that a termie IC could ride with a termie squad.
Maybe a flyers, maybe footslogg them. Ask FunkyRatDaemon about his list, many WB models can teleport.
>>
>>50874555
I dunno who that is, anon.

I'd not go flyers, because that's not nice, and I don't think HQs can teleport other than IF with homers.
>>
>>50874232

He said turreted. I assume that means the gun can spin.

By the Emperor, how crazy is a medusa gun on a 360 degree turret?
>>
Is it worth giving regular cataphractii termies just plain power axes/swords and using them as a primarily shooting unit?
>>
>>50874653
Yes. You still want a chainfist/power fist or 2 to prevent tanks from just bumrushing you.
>>
>>50874653
I think so, with their better invulnerable save and the unit's heavy weapon choice (reaper or conversion beamer) you can get some shots off while ignoring some of the fire that a heavy squad would fall to.

On the other hand you're paying for the added protection so IDK.
>>
>>50874713
lack of sweeping advance is the problem. If you want to melee, Tartaros pattern gets the job done.

>>50874757

Who is worried about psychic powers in Inferno?

Psychic powers have never been balanced well. It's either complete shit or broken cheese where entire lists get built around it.

Eh, psyhic powers were fine when you had to buy them as an upgrade. That it meant nobody ever took the shit, overpriced powers was no reason to change to the lolrandom approach we have now. Plasma pistols still excists too, and we have no pistol table you have to roll on now do we ?

This is why I hope FW did the smart thing and Thousand Sons either have fixed powers or fixed ones with point values as upgrade.

Psykers being either a waste of points or singlehandedly winning the game depending on which psychic powers you roll fucking sucks for both sides.

That was an issue because that power was stupid OP and there were almost no ways to resist powers. In that case, you nerf that power not the whole psychic mechanic.

Only having Lash every so often rather than every game because random still sucks for your opponent on the times you get it
>He used to bend me over the table me every single game but now it's only when he rolls a 5 so it hurts less

Same. That could be their 'school' bonus since even normal sarges were part of psychic schools. Like that one guy in the BoP books. He was a sarge that knew biomancy and literally held himself together with it to keep fighting. It would be cool to have the schools have purchasable powers, representing years of close study. This random power thing is so terrible. And the powers range the entire pectrum of crap to utterly broken.

It has to be a legion of psykers, which in it's own right is hard to balance too. So many warp charges, so many chances to fish for broken powers.

Speaking of powers. I really want to use the new Code Space marines one
>>
>>50874555
>tfw a chimera fits more terminators in it than a phobos

Phobos should seat 12 like in 5e and Prometheus should seat 16 (like crusader) and get reduced to 12 or 10 when waking the Proteus augury web thing. Maybe up Proteus to 12 as well and reduce it to 10 when taking the web.
>>
>>50875514
>I really want to use the new Code Space marines one

Just field a librarian and ask your opponent. Only if they are really unsure about them or total dicks would they refuse.

Yeah no, those powers are broken as fuck and don't belong in horus heresy.
>>
>>50875600
Probably once the models hits.

I'm not waiting, I already turned mine into a Vigilators. At least he can join a useful unit now and give my Assault Marines Scout and Stealth.
>>
>>50875565
I dislike them simply because, barring the outlier of Invisibility, they're all better than all the main rulebook disciplines. Teleporting stuff and assaulting, av15 flare shielded spartans, 2++ firedrakestars, etc. Unless i was fielding a bastard spammy list (artillery, tonkspam, cybernetica, Knights) i would say no, but im probably a total dick apparently
>>
>>50875606
But in 30k you can't spam librarians, run warp charge batteries or use formations for the dank 2+ harnassing. He can probably only attempt to cast one scary power anyway, or you know, just shoot the librarian.
>>
>>50875656
Nah, just unsure about how effective they really are.

>Unless i was fielding a bastard spammy list (artillery, tonkspam, cybernetica, Knights)

TFW those are the exact armylists I always run into ...
>>
>>50875606
>Yeah no, those powers are broken as fuck and don't belong in horus heresy.
Invisibility called, wants to make sure you still know it's the most broken power in the game.

I want fists of lightning damnit.
>>
>>50875764
Invisibility is a complete outlier compared to literally everything else in the main rulebook, you may as well judge all named HQs by the standard of Siggy and Scoria.
>>
>>50875813
Except any army with access to psykers can fish for it. And it's beyond broken. Siggy and Scoria don't compare. Every see an invisible knight? No you haven't; because it's invisible and killed everyone.
>>
>>50875813
>daemonology summoning
>sanctic Str D vortex and cleansing flame
>psychic shriek wiping units

Just a few examples
>>
I finally got around to checking the differences between the isstivan books and i had a question. And cant find an FAQ or a direct answer.
Does the Tormentor, Perturabo's personal shadowsword have access to the normal version upgrades? Or does it just get the volcano cannon, and hull mounted heavy bolter.
>>
>>50875764
My favorite is still Psychic Shriek combined with Battle Psykers' Weakened Resolve. Drop enemy Ld. to 2, then deal 3D6-2 wounds onto them with no armour or cover saves allowed. Could take down a bio-titan in one go.

Only problem is the range.
>>
>>50875843
Yes, thats what im saying, the invisibility is the only broken one.
>>50875853
Summoning requires being daemons and makes sense, its the only thing thats remotely similar. The vortex is a single small blast that backfires horrifically easily even for GKs and is never worth it unless you successfully drop it on a titan or primarch, psychic shriek wipes a unit with great dice luck, just as it ought to. None of them are close to the cheese of invisibility
>>
>>50875945
>Summoning requires being daemons
No, summoning requires being space marines, using the librarian formation and summoning every single daemon the warp has to offer on triple 2+.

>loyalist marines better at summoning daemons than daemons themselves
>>
>>50875977
oh, we're judging by 40k metrics instead of if they were used in 30k, if thats the case then i retract everything, 40k is so much of a broken mess i rarely play and dont keep up with the bullshit that can be used in it beyond a cursory glance at other tables occasionally
>>
>>50876016
You mentioned GK so I was under the impression you were using 40k metrics too.

But yeah, you don't want to know the details of what state 40k is in right now.
>>
>>50876045
yeah, i play GK in the rare occasion i play 40k, and i dont use the baby carrier so the army is pretty trash. While the D-blast seems good, the chance of backfiring is too high and the chance of not actually hitting anything is too high. If used in 30k, the only rulebook power better than the new 40k powers is invisibility by a massive amount.
>>
>>50875843
I actually have seen an invisible Knight before, because my ally cast invisibility on mine. It actually then dies to my opponent's own, because I missed every attack and he was a lucky bastard.

Also, tonkspam is cheese? Aww, every time I find something that I want to do its OP. Is it less bad if you avoid the AV14 flare shielded bricks?

First I wanted Cybernetica, and then I discovered that was OP (and expensive) so I did not play Cybernetica.

Then I wanted artillery, and I discovered that artillery was OP, so I did not start Ordo Reductor.

Then I looked at tanks, and then I discovered that tanks were OP, so I did not start Archimandrite Taghmata.

Then I looked at the playstyles, and none were left that interested me, so I did not start 30k.

Hell, should I mix them all together and run Armoured Reductor supported by Vorax? Would embracing the OPnessdl and diluting all the cheese together be the best option?

Actually, that sounds pretty fun.
>>
>>50876094
I dunno, having 4+ FnP and eternal warrior on like firedrakes still seems pretty nice to have.
>>
>>50876162
its good, but still not nearly as good as being immune to blasts and templates, and hit by small arms and in melee on sixes
>>
>>50876161
If you don't spam something horrifically, or learn to tone your army down fo weaker opponents, you're fine. Or, y'know, just do what you like regardless of its viability
>>
>>50874874
>where entire lists get built around it.
Well it's Thousand Sons, so that was always the case.
>>
