What are some equivalents to Roll20, in the sense that they can be used to find and possibly even host online games? I've had some good luck with Roll20, but it's been very limited. I feel as if I'd get more bites if I diversified my platforms a bit.

Fantasyground?
Roll20 is definitely the biggest. Might not even be worth looking for another platform.

Honestly, Roll20 is the most easily accessible VTT (ya know, being free and all). You could do something like Tabletop Simulator, but that's got a higher barrier to entry and it's a lot more work on the DM.
Best of luck in your search, though.

As a platform for hosting, I've been increasingly liking maptools.

What >>50816018 said. Roll20 is great for starters due to its simplicity but it's too limited for experienced DM/GMs. Maptools is definitely the most powerful tool around but it has a very steep learning curve. Also it's 100% free.

OP here. To be clear, finding groups is priority #1.

Fantasy Grounds and d20pro have a moderately big community, but they are nowhere near roll20.
