Ehhhh. The way I figure it, neijia is an art in which you use your force of will to generate enough magical energy to do the clobbering. AIs and drones aren't able to interact with magic in that way normally.

Like a lot of these questions, the best answer is going to be 'ask your GM. If you're the GM, consider allowing it and review the rule later if it becomes a problemm'

So for one reason or another I am going to put an awakened axolotl into our next run.

What do you think would an awakened axolotl's shtick be and what critter powers it should have.

I am honestly drawing a bit of a blank her, other than "make it cute as hell"
>>
>>50799354
But Drones don't really have any mental scores to draw upon. AI, on the other hand, do. I think if they're jumped into the drone directly(thus basically being one 'in soul' with the drone), it makes sense that they can smack it up. Frankly, I'd also allow it for riggers.

Don't cry too much if the players frag it.

lol, no. The way I know my players, they will move heaven and hell to steal it and then just keep it as a pet.

This has happened before. One character kidnapped a librarian from a place they were checking out to get info, simply because "she looked cute".
They collect NPCs, like they are pokemon...

One of my players had a technomancer dolphin as a companion. The others got jealous and started collecting them all. I had to draw the line when they wanted to get a barghest puppy.

Their hideout was basically a menagerie of highly dangerous critters and drones with a few ammo crates to call furniture. It was kinda crazy.

I'm not scrolling through all 1.6 GB or w/e of that shit
>>
>>50799563
No, but they did get to unleash the hounds (and everything else) on some dudes that tracked them to their hideout. It was 2 dozen guys vs 4 high tier runners and their animal pals with a special guest appearance from The Drones.

No one made it out, Lone Star got called, Lone Star got fucked up, they had to move to their Rigger's garage in Redmond where they built IKEA furniture so they could crash on the Rigger's couch.
>>
>>50799529

No, actually because I simply uploaded the massive folder I collected for my own SR game and we just roll that way.

The character must be in physical contact with the spirit. Rigging does not count. AIs have no physical presence.

First time GM here with a question. Extended Tests.

Do you allow you runners to use Edge? It seems odd tome to allow them to spend edge on a roll when there's really no resource management involved in making the decision to use it. The only reason to not spend it on extra dice seems to be hinging on avoiding a glitch, but the extra dice already do that, in a way.

Similarly, would you let a player buy their hits on an extended test? I lean towards no, as it trivializes the test anyway. I already wouldn't make a rigger roll to do routine maintenance on their vehicle, so I figure this kind of test would be for something more serious/severe anyway.

If an example test is needed, consider the test to be a mages' initiation test. Would you allow either there?
>>
>>50799799
I don't care. I want proper lamias.
>>
>>50800523
Why would you ever -not- let runners use edge? It represents, above all things, dumb luck.
>>
>>50800100
Frankly, I'd say it edges out initiative, but that might just be me speaking because my GM mercilessly tossed goon after goon at me and despite me always winning initiative, I slowly got bogged down in stun damage and would have to shed armor just so I could actually take physical damage.
>>
>>50799552
>>50799720

Both of those are possible with Limnal Body; the three presented in the book are just examples.
>>
>>50800557
Maybe a SURGEd Character with Paraplegic. Even with that quality you still have decent move speeds as the use of a wheelchair is assumed, it's just you aren't using it to attain them.
>>
>>50800847
I -need- proper support.

>>50800858
I don't see nagas getting that penalty.
>>
>>50800847
And it's no like the ones in the book are properly fleshed out anyway, it's pretty much GM fiat territory.
While we're at it I'd like to see an octopus one.
>>
>>50800871
The 5ed addition doesn't actually have a defined penalty other than you can't do things that require legs, because you don't have any (and a small bump to lifestyle costs to accomodate your unusual physical requirements. Guess what your Lamia doesn't have?
>>
>>50800942
My point exactly.
>>
>>50800056
>Rigging does not count

What I want to know is why do Axolotls still exist in the future? They're already extinct in the wild IRL.

Chummer is being weird again. Costs for the Adept power Improved Ability's costs are out of wack when discounted by Adept's Way.
>>
>>50800957
You don't see them being penalised for not having legs, despite the fact they don't have legs? You don't think their unusual physiology would cause increased lifestyle cost? Care to justify that?
>>
>>50801182
Nagas don't have a movement penalty.
>>
So I'm about to run a one shot for players who haven't played much or any Shadowrun before. This got me thinking of getting some stuff set up for the next time I do this. I'm thinking I'll have some pre-generated characters. Using the core rules, 5e specifically, I'm planning on making six characters. One for each archetype. What would be the best races for:
>Face
>Mage
>Decker
>Technomancer
>Rigger
>Street Samurai

Also curious as to how I upload .pdfs. Just like posting pictures? When I get the short story mostly written I was gonna share it here for others to use along with the different characters.
>>
>>50801261
Don't make new players play a decker or rigger. Just don't.

My players want to start a new campaign. Problem is I have no idea where to set it.

Was thinking about having them play as triad members after finishing Sleeping Dogs or maybe cops. No idea.

Any suggestions on interesting places?
>>
>>50801026
Looks correct to me. The discount only applies to one level of the power, not all of them.
>>
>>50801338
Has there ever been a campaign in India? I'd play that.
>>
>>50801341
Is that errata somewhere? All I have for reference is the Core book, which only says that it's .5PP per level (without the discount) up to level x 1.5.
>>
>>50801380
Up to level x1.5 skill rating, rather.
>>
Any advice for putting together a party face slash black magic using elf mage dabbling in summoning?
>>
Does the flashback system really not count as an Invoked Memory Stimulator for the purposes of constructing a Cyberzombie?
>>
>>50801261
Drop the decker, rigger, and technomancer unless you want to make your players hate Shadowrun.

Face: Elf for charisma
Mage: Anything but Troll or Ork because of shit mental stats
Samurai: Troll, Ork, Dwarf for good physical stats

Humans can fill any niche competently.
>>
>>50801380
I'm not sure what you mean, that's how adept ways work as described in street grimroire.
The base cost of the power is 0.5PP per level
The max level is (skill) * 1.5
With adept way discounts, you get to halve the PP cost of one level of one power for every 2 PP you have.
So if you apply the discount to level 6 improved ability, one of the levels only costs 0.25, the other 5 still cost 0.5 for a total of 2.75PP
>>
>>50800977

>>50801454
They are.
>>
>>50801461
No they aren't. The drone is. They are controlling the drone, they are not the drone.
Or do you also think mages ought to be able to use a mana spell against a rigger three blocks away because they can see their rotodrone?
>>
>>50801442
Huh. I misunderstood how they worked then. I've only ever used a Way once or twice and it must never have come up. Perhaps I was using powers without ranks. Thanks for the explanation.
>>
>>50801476
They can certainly use it against the rotodrone itself.

>they are not the drone
With pilot origins, they basically are. Seems to me like you're splitting hairs.

Hey so AIs learn programs at chargen, does that means those are programs they can use in ANY device they jump into and they can also use whatever programs are already in the device or that they can ONLY use those programs?

My idea is to make a white hat IA with a very partial understanding of the shadows, seeing shadowrun more as righting wrongs than as mercenary work, and she hates the evil spiders who made her into a slave to the MAN. Thanks chummer! That'll help. I'm quite rusty and even though I've read the books tons of time I've only played decker once at a convention, and I miss that good old cyberfuckery side to shadowrunning.

Addendum:

Even if you want to build a fully virtual AI:

Use Karmagen, Prio fucks you over.
>>
>>50802820
No sweat.
Feel free to ask whatever questions you have.

Sadly, there is only a limited amount of people around who actually bothered enough with AIs in 5e to go through the shitheap that is the current setting of AI rules.

Speaking of the additional programs that AIs can get, sadly a lot of them suck donkeyballs.
>>
Also, is it normal that in Karmagen you don't get no free knowledge skill points in Chummer?
>>
>>50802603
Because in SR, the entire original species was supplanted by the mutated version thereof.

The only living Hellbender is the Hellbender. There are no more Hellbenders, only Hellbenders.
>>
>>50802848
Yeah, but they're funny! Like Psychotropic Feedback and Uncertainty, useless, but so much fun. Also, sadly, I don't speak german, I just want to play a schockwellenreiter because I want to look into their lore, they piqued my interest. I'm actually French.

Hmmm... Now I have a need for a french hacker group. All chainsmokers and baguette-lovers. I'm French, it's not racist when I say baguette.
>>
>>50802849
Yeah, english rules aren't clear on that so Yekka goes by raw baseline and requires you to enable houserules to change that.

If you are playing krautrules, its explicitely stated that you get free knowledge points though.
>>
So, how should I deal with the jobs for player contacts?

It would be reasonable if contact will hire player for some running as a payment for some in-game favor earlier, but how can I motivate other players to participate in a job with low (or non-existant) paycheck? Most of contacts aren't rich.

What kind of side objectives I can add, except for a chance to get some good loot and fence it?
>>
>>50802849
You can enable it as an optional rule in the Options menu.

Normally your players have a fixer, this fixer has contacts. Those contacts, usually johnsons have money to spend on hiring deniable assets.

Also, a plus is if your characters had another reason to stay together other than "we like each other and are a rounded out team", like have them do a run and then someone comes and screws them over and they all want to get back at them. Make that person a real dick about it too. That's as basic as it gets, but it works for most groups. That's just an idea though.
In my last group, our main reason to stay together was that we were all psychos who wanted to pull off a heist on the moon and were raising money in order to build our very own space ship.

>>50803030
Dumpshock and shadowruntabletop have been down for ~12 hours now. Not sure why, they're separate hosts and such.
>>
>>50803029
Thanks for advice, but you're a bit off, senpai.
I was talking about Contacts - all of street docs, talismongers, pirates, beat cops, etc., who's acquainted with characters and may offer some help or services. They have enormous plot potential, I just need more solid motivation then "friends of my friend" in order to drag players into it.
>>
>>50803060
Ah, in that case, well, your players can choose not to help them, but the contacts probs will resent them for it, or see them as untrustworthy. On the upside, they could give them access to rarer gear that they're not exactly supposed to have, give them more frequent discounts, or owe them a favor. A cyberdoc could for exemple give them a 25% group buy discount, a beat cop would try to give a false alarm at a moment the team needs it, an especially talented talismonger could offer them an audience with a huge spirit-god when they need to see one, and then of course your friend the go ganger could show just in the nick of time, gunning down anyone that tries to lay a hand on her bro.

Also, you could have them participate in the Exchange. That's always hilarious.
>>
>>50803060
Bottom line: if you prove yourself to be useful, people will want to keep you alive.
>>
Newbie here again. Can anyone give me advice regarding skills? Which one is nice to have?

I'm starting with A in magic and D in skills, so that's 22 points, but 2 magic skills already come at 5 rank.

Right now I'm at...
6 Sorcery (start at 5, specialize in manipulation)
6 Summoning (start at 5)
Alchemy 6 (specialize in manipulation)
Counterspelling 4

So that leave me with 8 more points (although I do have 16 more karma). Should I pick up Perception, Sneaking and maybe Automatic?

>>
>>50803221
It's marked as provisional on a forum that is now offline. I'll amend the default behaviour when it gets put into an actual errata document.
>>
>>50803185
Automatics is good because it's varied, but I'd recommend taking unarmed combat as well, even if it's just to take Blocking or Touch spell as a specialty, just so your character doesn't die and poop their pants.

Sneaking is always good, but take etiquette if you don't want to be considered by everyone else as a fucking moron that doesn't know how to behave. It seems fun, but when people only sees you as a business relationship and not a very agreeable one at that they're less likely to help you when you're in a bind. Also, if you don't want summoned spirits taking any chances to fucking murder you, you SHOULD try and play someone who has a basic understanding on how not to be hated by everyone else.
>>
>>50803258
Are there any general rule of thumb on how many skill point should I put into those?

Like.. I have 5 Charisma, should I put 1 point in etiquette to make that 6 (average of 2 hits)?
>>
>>50803307
6 is a good score if it's something that's not exactly your job, but in which you want to help (here, since you're not face from what I've gathered, 1 in each influence skill should be enough)
>>
>>50803307
It's not a *bad* idea, since without that 1 point it makes your etiquette 4. Which is better than some street sams, but it's basically giving up on being appropriately polite.
>>
>>50803342
I'm actually waiting until after my first run for those. I took Jack of all trade, master of none quality.
>>
>>50803369
Ah, then you can wait.
>>
>>50803185
Drop counterspelling, it's pointless unless you heavily specialize in it.

Put some points in:
- Sneaking
- Etiquette
- Perception

>Humans can fill any niche competently.
Humans are worse at every niche than at least one other metatype, for any given niche. Dwarves are better than humans at Decking because they have better Willpower, Orks are better at combat because of the Body and Strength, Elves are better at shooting and Face work, and so on.

The only niche where humans are remotely competent is as hermetic mages, because of Edge casting.
>>
>>50803457
Yeah but they're still competent. It won't be überoptimization, but it'll be fun, that's what matters. Also, Humans deal less with racial bias from the corps, whereas elves can be seen with envy, and will stand out more in a crowd, whereas a human can always pass for your average everydude even to metahumans (usually, depending on your campaign setting).
>>
>>50803447
12 dice is the baseline for something to be your primary/specialty. 8 dice is the baseline for something of secondary competence - where you can succeed on your own against minor challenges, or assist the actual expert. 4 dice is only the most basic of competence, where you'll almost definitely be spending Edge if asked to use it in play.

And by baseline, I mean minimum.

So, for most characters, it's a good idea to have 8+ dice in Sneaking, Etiquette, Perception, and at least one gun-shooting skill, because those are skills that literally every character - without exception, all of them - needs to be halfway decent at.
>>
>>50803447
6 dice will allow you to not make a fool of yourself in most regular situations. This being said:

- If you can boost Perception higher, do so. The higher the better.

- If you have one spare point, get a specialisation in Machine Pistols for your Automatics skill. Combined with a Laser Sight or Smartlink, it'll allow you to drop reasonably hampering suppressive fire whenever casting a spell is not an option.
>>
>>50803497
>Yeah but they're still competent.
Disagreed. They're almost as bad at everything as Orks are at Logic/Charisma, since they only have 1 higher Maximum (and not a single point higher base) than Orks do in those.

They're the only metatype that doesn't have any bonuses of any kind to any of their attributes.

The only reason they can be considered competent is because competence is fundamentally measured from a human baseline. When actually compared against the other metatypes, though, you quickly see how fucking trash human stats are.

There is always - without exception - a choice of metatype that's not only a better choice than human, but usually blows them clear out of the water.
>>
>>50803499
>>50803503
Alright, I'll boost Perception and Etiquette to 8 dice.

Automatic is at rank 4 and specialize in machine pistol, probably going to use magic fingers to fire the gun for more pools (Push the limit magic finger should give me around 7 hit on average, so 13 dice on machine pistol).

Sneak... is stuck at 3 since I ran out of points..
>>
>>50803518
Meh. I'm not so sure about the blowing them out part.

I mean, of course muties are better at specialisation, but the point of role playing is still rule 0: fun.

Now the question is, will you have less fun when playing a human face than when playing an elf face? Nah, don't think so. You don't need your character to throw dice at every problem until it accepts it's defeat in order to have fun. Hell, you don't even need to WIN to have fun. You only need to be functional at what you do.

Then again, to each their own, if you can't have fun unless your character is as mechanically good as can be, more power to you, chummer.
>>
>>50803568
Chummer, I'm not saying that someone shouldn't play humans, or that playing humans is unfun.

My current character is humans, despite better options existing.

All I'm saying is that humans aren't competent at their roles. The only reason to play a human is for fluff reasons, or because you ran out of Priority for a real metatype.

They are the incompetent metatype. That's their thing. They're the bad, cheap one, not the one that's 'competent at any role.'

Oi you lot. Doing some stuff with books, and we're trying to be an inclusive hugbox about people who're colourblind. Our general view is that greyscale indicates disabled, colour indicates enabled, with the checkbox as a fallback. Does that make sense to you guys?

Also, would you consider it helpful if we could organise optional/house rules by the sourcebook they're from? So you'd select a rulebook in the Books tab, you'd see the standard options for where the book is and the offset and such, and then the rules affected by that book would be present below that. They'd also be visible in the more generic Optional/House Rules as well.

It doesn't make sense because AI don't have souls, because they're not real living creatures. They can't do anything magical because they cannot effect mana. You look at a drone in the astral with an AI jumped in, with a rigger jumped in, and one on the rack at the store that has never been turned on, and they're identical grey lumps, utterly devoid of life.

A rigger doesn't put their soul into a drone, they broadcast mental commands through technology. It's like saying calling someone on the phone puts your soul in their ear.

How do I spend leftover karma for spell during character creation on chummer5?

Also is it better to make Improved Invisibility an Alchemy spell? It would last only a few minute, but I could make a few before run time.
>>
>>50805271
It's basically never worthwhile to do into alchemy. The spell loses 1 Force per hour after being made, so on top of the shitty dice pool and inability to keep it sustained, there's the very real possibility it will go inert (or too weak to be useful) before you need it.

Just cast it the normal way. Get a sustaining focus if you feel the need.
>>
>>50805428
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the spell only lost Force after [Potency x 2] hours. Isn't it?

Since I have 18 pool for Alchemy, I could make a few Force 5-6 items which would last 10-12 hours before it start losing potency. Since it's only 5-6 min to make, I can take a quick nap to heal any stun damage I took during the process too.

The preparation items sustain itself, so I could give everyone in the team Armor spell with 10/12 pools of dice with no penalty to myself.

How useful are the different martial arts in 5e?

It says you get a +2 to your rolls when using your martial art, is that all rolls or just swhen you're using a technique? For example, I'm building a former (prospective) Ares operative and I want to give him training in Firefight. Firefight includes Close Quarter Firearms (Pistol) so my understanding is that that would give me two dice when shooting my pistol in melee (eliminating the negative to shooting a gun in melee), do I also get a flat +2 to shooting my pistol?
>>
>>50808586
I don't understand what you're asking. In the rulebook I'm looking at, close quarters firearms doesn't even give two dice, it "Reduces the ranged combat Attacker in Melee Combat modifier by 1". That's it. That's all it does. You don't get an extra die to throw around in other situations. I'm not sure how you would arrive at that conclusion.
Most martial arts in 5 are just not very good at all.
>>
>>50806690

SR!Earth surely has weaker environmental regs, yes.

>>
>>50808758
>>50808586
You know, it would probably help if I read before getting all smug, huh?
Given how you can choose a specialization in the STYLE, I would say that you gain two extra dice in any situation where you use a technique from that style. For a grand total of 3 extra dice in close quarters firarms situations, etc. I'm not sure if that's the official ruling.
Martial arts are still mostly bad though.

You could play a SURGE shaman with Photometabolism who worships a sun god. Or a hermetic mage who went to MIT&T to try and invent a mana-friendly reactor. Or a Chaos mage who grew up reading Flash Gordon and other Atomic Age comics and thinks that's the only way to explain how he can produce energy from nowhere. though chaos mage is cheating for 'can I have a reason for magic thing'

Well you can't have that, it runs counter to the way magic works in SR. The best I can say is get the Home Ground quality and ask the GM if you can apply it to radioactive zones, increasing the background count instead of decreasing it, but that's well into home rules territory.

This is probably the most obvious place to come for this. I have a group of friends, and myself are interested in Shadowrun. But do not know where to start, besides the standard rulebook of course.

What are good supplements in that long list of books to add for newbies? Besides chummer are there other tools to help streamline things so my friends don't feel intimidated by it all? We have generally done very rules lite stuff with the most intensive being PF.

Feel free to talk to me like I'm a ten year old with downs if I missed a helpful index of the pastebin to answer all these questions.

It isn't really. We do baity shitposting arguments about things that are almost irrelevant beyond one group's table, and bug yekka to add/fix/remove stuff from Chummer5.

If you shut down someone asking about it, then it's definitely not being covered.

No supplements are really needed to run a game, for newbies is probably better to stick to the core rulebook.

Probably the most useful supplement is Run & Gun as it's basically more equipment which is universally useful. You can ignore Run Faster as it adds a lot of different options and it's kind of a mess.
After those two it's probably Street Grimoire as it will give you alternate magic traditions and opens up the possibility of intuition traditions. Be aware though it has a lot of errata and is kind of broken in bits, so use with caution. And the Chrome Flesh is more toys, which can be really useful. If someone really wants to play a rigger you might need Rigger 5.0, otherwise I'd just gloss over transport for a beginning campaign.

Are there any advantages to playing Nartaki over humans? Sure, you can dual-wield LMGs or quad-wield pistols, but its not like you'll hit anything with the split dicepool.
>>
>>50815690
What is lirking?
>>
>>50816240
Two fields of suppressing fire? That's literally the only advantage I can think of.
Maybe being able to carry a two handed firearm and a melee weapon at the same time? Dunno...

Pretty much the only reason to play them is the RP aspect, really. Especially since the social drawbacks will vastly overshadow any minor advantages you could get.
>>
>>50816240
You can wield an assault rifle, a ballistic shield, and have a free hand for accomplishing non-combat tasks (or grabbing grenades, medkits, extra ammo, etc) all at the same time.
>>
The Berserk and Berserker's Rage powers don't have any text about not stacking with other magical/technological augmentations, unlike most sources of bonuses.

What other sources can I stack with it to try to hit +4 augmented Agility and Strength while active?
>>

The Suprathyroid Gland, actually, has a role here. Combined with a Suprathyroid Gland, Berserker's Rage brings you up to +3 in all four physical attributes.

So, im running a 4e game.
A player is dead set on playing a nartaki who has lost one of his four arms, despite my request that people stick to just the core rulebook, in order to aid the new players (half of the group has never played shadowrun before)
Any ideas on how to handle this in game, in terms of how the world reacts to the Nartaki?
Also, he wants to be able to wield two shields + a shotgun, how would this look in terms of game mechanics / dice penalties?

>A player is dead set on playing a nartaki who has lost one of his four arms, despite my request that people stick to just the core rulebook

Stick to your guns. I can already see how this plays out:

>Player wants to play Nartaki solely to be an edgy min-maxing asshole.
>Other players stick to core but are overshadowed constantly by the Nartaki player who is probably a lot more mechanics-savvy.
>Other players get bored, either because the Nartaki does everything better than they do or because the Nartaki player will Betty their players into sucking in the spirit of "keeping it simple for them"
>Game ends about three sessions in.
>>
>>50816690
First of all on the point of using two shields and a weapon at the same time (a two handed longarm at that) it's a resounding fuck off, particularly as if nothing else the armour penatlies should render him utterly immobile. His concept is retarded and not in a good way and that should be made clear.
>>
>>50816690
Don't know how 4e handles that, but in 5e you cannot stack bonuses from the same sourse.
>>
Are Shapeshifters simply animals who take human forms or do they retain some semblance of humanity? Are they intelligent or do they act according to the whims of their animalistic instints? Do they behave as people do and act according to their culture and upbringing? Would a Shapeshifter consider themselves a metahuman or an animal who resembles one?
>>

>>
>>50817255
Yes.

At the end of the day, though, they're intelligent animals, no matter how broken in they are. Stepping into the wrong background count is enough to show that.
>>
>>50816690
>Naritaki
Have him give you a good reason to be one. Narataki in SR almost exclusively live in India where they are all worshiped as gods. He would need to have a REALLY good reason to be a runner as one.
>Missing a arm
Him missinga arm isn't a problem UNLESS he is trying to take that negative quality were you lost a limb. Tell him if he wants that negative quality he's got to lose two arms. Don't let that bullshit slide negative qualities are supposed to hinder your character.
>Wield two shields
He can do that, but he would only get one shields armor, they wouldn't stack. Bare in mind, shields in SR are literally the size of a person.
>>
>>50810158
The wise thing to do is to speak with them both privately to try and find a compromise. IF you are the GM you need to build scenarios the Decker can't really interact in. Dedicate some REAL TIME to situations the Face has to deal with. Grab one of her contacts and give her like 10 mins of str8 roleplay with that contact. Go to another player. 10 mins for them. Ad-lib in that those two characters meet. dump some karma on them for being nice to their contacts. If decker intervenes, give him 1-2 mins, and go right back to what you were doing. Make everybody feel loved.
>>
>>50817255
Shapeshifters are Animals that are intellegent. They are basically to humans as drakes are to dragons.
Shapeshifters tend to be in a grey area, they are always estranged from humans, but due to there intelligence don't belong with animals either. As for cultures depends on the culture, some worship them as gods others fear them as demons. In the regular SR world they are generally are hunted for magic parts.
Depends on the shifter. One of the things that helps shifters is if they are able to find others of there kind (which is EXTREMELY RARE.)
>>
>>50817838
>due to there intelligence don't belong with animals either
Not really true. Shapeshifters are intelligent, but very much instinctive and will fit in with animals far quicker and easier than they will with humans.
>>
>>50817497
A. yes
B. ???
C. not particularly.
It's better if he starts installing swords on literally all of his running gear.

If you're going to be something like a reclusive pidgeon shaman hermit, should you be a shapeshifter or just a hobo human?
>>
>>50817497
A. Kinda as in he can't just take a sword and hot glue it too a gun he needs a weapon attachment.
B. It means when he hits someone with his gun he uses "Blade" Skill instead of "club." Damage is done based on whatever bayonet he gets. He can also use the dun to parry melee attacks which is super handy. There are only two bayonets available the regular and bladed (bladed bayonets are in the war book.)
NOTE: make sure he takes melee hardening on his gun, if he doesn't punish him because meleeing with a gun without that means it can accidentally go off and is easily broken.
C. Only if he uses Squall as his character portrait.
>>
>>50818350
I feel like you should put melee hardening on everything even commlinks
>>
>>50818325
Depends. It's interesting in either scenario in either case, but it makes more sense for a hobo human to start running than a pigeon shaman hermit.
Reason: You answered your own question. If your a Pigeon Shaman it makes more sense for you to be a hobo worshiping pigeons than a pigeon worshiping themselves.Though I suppose narcissists pigeon's could be fun.
>>
>>50818646
I don't mean pigeon worshipping so much as a guy who acts like a pigeon and uses pigeon power.

I'd be happy to help, ten year old down syndrome anon. Ignore the retards arguing about whether you deserve to know or not. At least one of them is just butthurt that no one will ever give them the SUCC
For magic read Street Grimoire
For implants and drugs read Chrome Flesh
For digital stuff read Data Trails
For hardware that you drive read Rigger 5.0
But before any of that, people need to read the Core Rulebook. Again. Again. AGAIN. Get the cheat sheets from the pastebin and read them all. Now read the core rulebook AGAIN.
>>
The quality "Restricted Gear" let's you get an item with an availability of 24. What items have that high of an availability?
>>
>>50819609
Some of the most advanced implants, especially if you get them as alphaware, milspec armor, military vehicles.

The question is more whether it is worth it to pay 10 karma up front for something you could acquire in game at a later date and will get you in mountains of trouble the moment it is spotted.

As a GM, what would you say if your player said he wanted to play a freaky vampire changeling nartaki with the Day Job and Fame quality?

So, am i interpreting things wrong, or would a character with the adapsin genemod and biocompatabillity (Cyberware) only loose 30% essence assuming he's installing deltagrade 'ware?
>>
>>50819740
Depends. If it is a "go completely wild" one-shot/2-3 seances mini-campaign with my usual players, sure, whatever, that's the whole point. Create the wackiest shit and we'll see how it rolls. (Or how hard it crashes and burn.)

For a more grounded game, or one meant to introduce new players to the system; stick to the basics, please.
>>
>>50819749
I'm assuming you mean Biocompatibility (bioware).

Adapsin is .2 essence. .2*.5 (deltware)-.01 (biocompatibity)= .09. If says round down to nearest tenth so... 0 essence?

Thematic. I thought it would be weird for Alchemist to not have knowledge in alchemy. I guess I could put point into paracritter or biology instead if I can't turn that thing off.
>>
>>50820331
I'll amend the improvement, but an active skill is essentially a stronger knowledge skill; you'd probably get more use out of putting the points into Reagent Locations or something.

>>
>>50820344
Also any advice on contact? Probably Fixer,Bartender,Talismonger,Streetdoc... Maybe Mr.Johnson but whatelse?
>>
>>50820397
Generally speaking, the absolute minimum I recommend is that you have a Fixer, if your GM isn't giving you one already. Aside from that, I personally tend more to suggest thinking about the kinds of friends your character would have, and whether those people would have his back in a pinch, or are otherwise useful. Info-brokers and arms-dealers are always useful as you can buy or fence things through them, but I've seen stoned roommates who specialise in acquiring awakened mushrooms for parties wind up as the lynchpin of a shadowrun before.
>>
>>50820397
A contact amongst (what passes for) local law enforcement always comes in handy.
>>
>>50820331
> I thought it would be weird for Alchemist to not have knowledge in alchemy
... They do.

>You don’t always have to default a skill when you don’t have it. Sometimes your gamemaster might allow you to use a different skill, probably with a dice pool penalty. For example, if you’re trying to use makeup to disguise your face, and you don’t have a Disguise skill, the gamemaster could let you use your Artisan skill with (say) a –3 dice pool penalty.
>You can always do this swapping trick to use an Active skill in place of a Knowledge skill (like using your Pistols skill at a penalty to see if you know where the closest Ares Predator V manufacturer is), but never vice versa. Knowing the history and mechanics of the modern pistol doesn’t make you a better shot.

>You can always do this swapping trick to use an Active skill in place of a Knowledge skill.

Every point of Body and every listed seat = 100kg of stuff. Doesn't quite fit, but nothing in SR does. Don't use that measurement for drone lifting capacity or for very large/very small vehicles.
>>
>>50822684
You can fill a seat with cargo about the size of a large person; more if you really pack it in there. Consider trunks to have cargo space equal to 50% of a vehicle's seats, and shipping containers to be arbitrarily large within reason.

That said, I'm trying to work out a decent RAI. SWhat do you guys think of this:
>Trailblazer and the trailer are separate entities both for the purpose of being targeted in combat and for modifications
>despite having a Speed, Handling and Acceleration listed, the trailer has no means of moving under it's own power (obviously) and cannot have those scores enhanced
>when the trailer isn't attached, the Trailblazer moves according to its own Speed, Handling and Acceleration (again, obviously)
>a Trailblazer with an attached trailer subtracts 1 from its Speed and on-road Handling scores, meaning that an unmodified Trailblazer moves according to the trailer's scores
>some modifications will only work if they're on both the Trailblazer and the trailer (secondary propulsion, chameleon coating, you know, common sense stuff)
>there are a number of modifications the trailer just can't take because it's not a metal box with wheels as opposed to an actual vehicle (again, common sense applies)
>if you ram someone with a Trailblazer with an attached trailer, the Trailblazer and trail use their own Body scores for the damage done to themselves but combine their Body scores for damage done to the target, pic related
