I've always felt that 20 points just isn't enough for a killdozer.
The guns alone are expensive as hell. Unless you want to get instakilled by one dude with a sneaky explosive, you need good armor and probably electric nettigng as well. Then further, if you want any chance of escape you need to pay out the ass, and probably take advanced optics for a night escape, too.

There just isn't enough here. Either you drive a dozer with decent protection but can barely do more than run things over, or you're a glass cannon.

Go with revival. Being able to bounce back from death means that whatever experience you've accumulated isn't lost. In war, having to start over from scratch with a newbie if one of your veterans bites it is a serious problem. Take a look at WW2 and the decline of the Luftwaffe or the German Panzer corps. They just didn't have the time or ability to properly train up new pilots or tank crews, and as a result in the late-war period they got rocked even when they had higher performance equipment. Doesn't matter if that Panther has better armor or a bigger gun if the crew doesn't know how to use it properly and ends up getting offed by an enemy that they didn't notice in time (thus losing the range advantage of the gun) and blundered past (thus negating their armor advantage by exposing their weaker sides/back).

I think what will trigger the complications is as follow : we had an advantage when fighting with our rival and we weren't really fair with it, using underhanded tactics or doing evil shit like killing civilians and the such. So a hero goes "omg the evil overlord must be killed" and comes around. We wreck his shit but in the party there was a proeminent paladin or a prince and that's what dives us the Nemesis.
I will partake in battle everytime it is possible, while leaving the guardian behind to protect us when it's the realm that's attacked instead of us going on the offense. He's big enough to handle it. With air and lightning affinity it should be hard as fuck to invade us anyways and we'll do precision strikes when we attack. My lieutenants are all bigger than me because I think it looks cool. No lieutenant are human because they're the main force, demons are the one commanding in this realm.

I just read the last thread. To all those that praised the CYOA, thanks. I'm happy you enjoyed it. There's a couple of things I saw last thread that I'd like to make clear. First is that Oni are not just inferior to golems. In addition to being more cuddly than rocks, Charge is a unique and powerful ability if you can set it up. On-the-spot charging has no limit, so you could condense the force of 1000 punches into a single Behemoth-killing strike. Infuriate is a useful aggro-generating power which is rare outside of bait superhumans. A regular Oni is slightly taller than a golem (though a golem is typically heavier & wider). A jumbo Oni therefore has a much better stride on top of the strength, defensive, & stamina boosts it offers. There were also a lot of questions about natural weapons. They are functionally equivalent to the non-integrated alternatives. A slime bullet is just as tough as a gun's bullet. However, natural weapons are part of your body & this gain any such benefit (such as the slime's melting or the snow woman's vold embrace). These effects will subside quickly as they cease to be "you" enough and will become diluted. Still, that's a bit of extra acid or ice damage on your attacks. I'm here for any more questions anyone may have now.

Uh... fast? I didn't want to stat everything out with hard numbers, so somewhere between 2 - 5x faster to both running & punching. Well, if you can get into a rotation of: dash => slash => catch your breath => repeat, you'll be fine for all but the longer battles. Pacing yourself can help a lot with stamina.

Yeah, combat charging is hard, but if it is to destroy a behemoth, your allies (I assume) would cover you / transport you to the thing while you charge. Plus, you can do minor charging between attacks. Hurting "significantly" just means getting through any armor. If the Fiend doesn't feel a thing, it won't get mad. Sure, golems have to carry that weight. Sure, this makes them strong. However, that weight can work against them. An oni would be better at stopping on a dime or reacting to a sudden, surprise attack, for example. Golems have to deal with stopping their own momentum more. Plus, the height of a jumbo oni gives a longer stride, which does a lot for speed of movement.

Speedy and good with melee weapons/dodging.

Harpies are limited by their wings, as far as direct combat goes. Makes both dodging and striking difficult, and they can't really use regular weapons well. As far as grounded foes they're especially at a disadvantage in regards to melee. The wings give them a great advantage as far as air support goes, both bombing, long range gunning, supply, and recon, everything you want a plane for basically, but they're not really any good at ground operations and thus don't fill a fast melee niche.

Combat strategy;

Intelligence-based melee user with some ranged nuking capabilities from above with Lightning and Wings. Since my Strength is so low, the vast majority of my damage will come from the Enchantment with Lightning on it. I dont understand why we dont see Spine Weaponry too often, its really strong. Did you think you were going to block that blow? You didnt, my weapon just shrank a couple of inches and evaded your block. Think you are beyond my range? You arent, I can extend my sword-staff (pic related) to hit you anyways. Think you are covering your unarmored side? You arent, my weapon can bend and turn 90 degrees to pierce it still, just to pull back into defensive mode. And with 9 Int, my lightning-enchant gives one hell of a zap

The whole skillset is based around augmenting that staff. Telepathy gives me combat-predictive capabilities, which together with Intangible will let me predict the rough blows and let them pass through me. When Intangible, I can also unleash all my Lightning. All of it. With All-Seeing Eye, it will be very hard to catch me offguard. Blink can be used both as an escape, aswell as a gapcloser and for positioning. When fighting monsters or hunters, I can use it to teleport behind them and strike where they are vulnerable. Wings are really useful for mobility and positioning aswell, allowing me to pick my fights, stay out of trouble and away from mines/bombs. I'm not sure which of the three Bounties I picked will be best for my Monster Within, but honestly, I think what would have most combat utility is the Arachnids spider silk. It conducts magic and having "unique strength" I can use it to immobilize someone and send some fierce electricity through it. Since my bounties are 2 threat, 4 threat and 5 threat, I can climb up the difficulty ladder and get better at combat, trying out what would work best. Krakens ink is also extremely helpful for decapacitating someone

Why are harpies bad vs ground foes? They are skilled enough at using their talons to fight just fine, so think about it like moving with your arms & fighting with your legs, as opposed to moving with your legs & fighting with your arms. Melee requires them to be close, and they're the most fragile race. Big, unarmored wings and hollow bones don't help. Dodging can solve this, but being in the air limits how they can dodge, instead of moving their feet quickly they need to beat their wings and hope the less precise and quick momentum picks up fast enough to move them out of the way. Their approach is also very limited, especially in close quarters or in cover such as trees. You're not always in the open plains. Finally, their reliance on talons severely reduces their attack effectiveness. Talons can only be so big and long, no matter how sharp. You're looking at small dagger size at best. However, when dealing with larger foes, it's all about penetration. Your weapon needs to be long enough to hit vitals or to cleave through enough muscle and bone. Considering that most Fiends are much larger than a human, you're going to need long swords and spears to penetrate beyond superficial flesh. A harpy's talons can't do that, they'll be snatching at skin and only the topmost muscle.

I posted an oni build in the first (or maybe second, but I think it was first) thread this CYOA was released in, and I don't believe I was the only one. There were a lot of Kitsune, some Slimes, an Alarune, a Holstaur and I think a Snow Woman too. This CYOA does not get reposted often for one reason or another, so you don't see many builds at all. Before last thread I actually hadn't seen it since like the week of its release, but it's possible I wasn't looking very hard since I'm not a big fan of it anyway. Think of harpies less as humming birds & more as hawks, swooping in to strike before circling back. They typically won't stay close to the enemy long enough gor a counter attack. Also, harpies can wield weapons just fine in their talons.

Indoors, consider death sight dullahan. Think of the ability as seeing pre-images of every step it takes to kill an enemy. Like, take 2 steps forward, duck to avoid getting hit, hop on the Fiend's arm, run up it, slaah at a vital spot on the neck. It isn't speed per se, but the actions will be coordinated and efficient enough that it will seem all the faster. It is about fully utilizing what speed you have instead of using excess speed. It's a rogue-ish, melee race.

I'm curious about the Legion specialization of the Undying. Assuming that they're not as powerful as the Undying themselves, what special characteristics do these zombies have? It basically brings the true human back as a non-true human. They retain all personality, memories, skills, etc. Their bodies are cold and dead. They will only die if their head is destroyed. Otherwise they slowly regenerate. The biggest draws are that they are tireless and feel no pain. They have an intuitive understanding that you brought them back. Guy who said he was gonna make a derelict station survival cyoa here again.

Here's what I've come up with so far. I'm posting mainly to ask for advice regarding writing tone as well as to see if the suits are alright and the augmentations make sense/aren't overpowered. I'm going for a Deus Ex meets Deadspace sort of schtick.

Most likely will be changing a few images before I'm done, mostly the anime ones since they feel very out of place with the image I'm trying to give, but so far finding an image of a brain with electrical bits has been a hassle and I couldn't come up with an idea for metabolism that isn't sweaty abs so fuck me I guess.

Also lots of text to modify/beautify and fonts to add, it's likely the finished product won't look like this at all. Not to mention this is about 1/5 of the entire cyoa and there's a lot more material to add like enemy factions, allied factions, locations, weapons, missions, companions and waifus, drawbacks and more random equipment.

So what's your impression so far, does this sort of atmosphere and setting appeal to you?

At any rate, as an Undying with a Legion specialization, I'll be making up for my staff's and drone's focus towards taking down high value targets/acting as my bodyguards with mobs of zombies (I assume that having 'lots of use' for this ability means that there's just that many targets to raise up from the dead) to take on 'fodder'-like Fiends, with me switching between 'fodder' and 'elite' enemies as necessary.

I'll split my 2 special op squads between myself and my drone, having our two groups ride the humvee and helicopter respectively. With my drone's group providing fire support from the air, I'll be having fun wasting all the explosive ordnance my boss sends my way all over the battlefield.

Took up the Bane tattoo against Brains because I can't be letting the enemy get the advantage in terms of troops. Will prioritize taking these guys out quickly while letting my raised army act as the bulwark of the base. Once they're down, them it's back to washing down the boss' supplies down the drain again in an explosive mess.

I'm going to berserk it up with my giant sword, fire breath and combat bot for some back up. I'm choosing this general because she looks nicer and I'm going to try and help her shoulder some stuff if I can. She shouldn't be doing all that stuff and she's right that the generals have to unite, not compete. So friendly berserker drake with a big sword and a bot.

I have a feeling my build isn't that optimised and that my melee focus isn't going to end well at all. I hope my teammates can overcome my shortcomings and that I can be of use by murdering the shit of fiends by going berserk in their faces with my big sword, which should let me have their attention while others snipe them or do more damage than I do. I'm not equiped with heavy gear so I don't have that much protection, I will have to move around and be very quick and precise in my attacks/dodges even tho my boosted rage should do the job if I get injured.

Curse type: Effeminate - Either way I'm going to take a big hit in my ability to lift things so taking a further hit probably won't be as much as a loss. Plus the other drawbacks seem pretty harsh.

Major TF: Android - Some free mobility and a whole new world of interfacing options.

Benefits:

I'm adding more stats, do people like what is going on? A big issue I'm seeing is the page count is going to be bloated a lot more, but it may not since it's wider and I may be able to shove all the abilities onto one page.

For an explanation of stats, it's something like:

Ningyo have a conditional bonus that is useless in most of the offered quests, so have fun trying to meet the snow people as one. Gumiho either gain the natural bonuses of their racial shift (large creatures give them strength, flying creatures new mobility, etc) which is beyond broken, or it's just a visual change with no new ability and can maybe sometimes scare people but more often than not gets them into trouble. Horseshitcows have a social awareness skill that has negative synergy with their ugly faces (everybody lies about how they don't think cow people stink.) Oni could have regular berzerker rage, but you love your human master race and therefore give them a booze conditional to nerf it. It's just a mess, man.

I've started work an a RYOA, and would like a graphic design tip. I'd like to have categories like height where you flip a coin and then go up or down a level. But I have no idea how to present that apart from just making it a list. Any ideas?
