Love humans, never really knew why, just do. Favorite commander pic related. Least favorite tribe would be dragons.

Perfect segway

You gotta help me tg, all my friends play inf combos in all their decks. As i am not in the slightest of ways interested in playing them myself i need some sort of way to protect myself whilst playing my Sigarda deck but don't know how.

The wonderful thing about slivers, is that slivers are wonderful things
>>
>>50757585
What kind of infinite combos are there? You can run effects that keep you from having to sac stuff, while also running aetherswon canonist if they're not artifact based. You're G/W so Gaddog Teeg also does wonders, unless your meta is sub 4-drops.
>>
>>50757496
>Tribal Edition
Alright, relates question then. I had an idea for a Leovold Elf tribal. Sure, it's not the optimal build for him, but I feel like BUG Elves could be interesting.

Is it an idea worth a fuck?

Nath seems like a pretty sweet Commander, anyone have experience with him?

First thing that comes to mind is Panharmonicon Elves
>>
Should I go Black-White zombie token, or Black-Green zombie token? Who should be my general?
>>
>>50757681
OP here, the reason I chose Nath as the main image was that he's rad as fuck. Panharmonicon Elves is definitely a spicy brew. Here's my Elfball list if you're looking for some inspiration

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/31-10-16-go-elf-yourself/

I need to update the list to include Panharmonicon.
>>
>>50757616
Three main kinds
1. Oloro combos, Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood and there might be a Felidar too.
2. Brago, can't explain them all, inf mana, tokens, life, turns, play Stonehorn Dignitary so i can never attack, detain all of my permanents. The list goes on and on.
3. Planeswalkers, Rings of Brighthearth and doubling season with Jace, the Mindsculpter, Ajani Vengeant etc. Might not be inf, but still game winning combos
>>
>>50757585
nigga, youre playing white. you have the best hatebears: thalia, new thalia, ethersworn canonist, gaddock tee, hushwing griff, spirit of the labyrinth, etc. plus they are all tutorable with green cards like chord of calling, eldritch evolution, birthing pod, etc.

Definitely elementals. A lot of them are in my favorite colors (red and green) and they have a lot of synergy with each other. Now if I had bags of money, I would probably build an Animar or Horde of Notions deck but until I actually have a real job that will never happen.

Cut fiendslayer paladin, mayor of avrabuck, scorned villager, vivid meadow, and experiment one. Then jam
Thalia, New Thalia, Old Sigarda, Gaddog Teeg, and Aethersworn Canonist.

Vivid lands aren't really that spectacular in two color decks, and you can make due with 36 lands. Experiment one doesn't appear to get pumped very much, and can be replaced with better humans--namely Thalia(s). The rest just don't do much to be worth it, and if you're trying to stop combos my suggested hatebears can get you there.

You can't ninjutsu from the command zone, so no.
>>
>>50758406
But that's narrow thinking. It has built in regenerate and reanimates your opponent's creatures. Yes, the ninjutsu part is nice, and I don`t know how often I get get it to deal combat damage in black, but it could be neat with various board wipes.

That being said, I`m pretty sure it`s going in my BUG clone and reanimator combo deck.

>>
>>50757585
obligatory additions are eternal witness, chord of calling, recruiter of the guard, tireless tracker, mirrari's wake, and duskwatch recruiter

not a human but has nice human synergy is angelic overseer

because you are a tribal aggro deck you probably want to run cards that make your humans indestructible, such as dauntless escort, selfless spirit and avacyn

things I would cut:

gather the townsfolk: most of the time its just two tokens. terrible

scorned villager: you are better off running mana ramp like cultivate, kodama's reach, explosive vegetation, etc than having a mediocre mana dork

consul's lieutenant: attacking trigger is not worth it

experiment one: it takes forever to be a threat. dead draw late in the game

fiendslayer paladin: too small

heron's grace champion: gaining life is not that good unless your deck works around it

surrak: making your small creatures have haste doesn't seem too threatening

champion of the parish: same with experiment one. it takes forever to grow into a relevant threat

this is all my opinion anyways. hope it helps

What are some green/red cards that inherently benefit more from being copied?

All that I'm seeing are cards with additional costs, and X-costing cards (which in my opinion don't actually benefit as much as people think they do--it's just copying a good spell after all is said and done, just happens to be a spell that you can make "gooder" depending on how much mana you have)
>>
>>50758678
I would say Savra or Isperia
>>
>>50758699
I bet that was that one chandra alter some guy around here posts every day. That one was pretty fucking terrible.

Here is another one I had to crop from someone's photobucket. Eventually, you realize, some mother fucker signed rebbeca guay's artwork, and made it objectively shittier. Then, you google what the original card looks like, and realize 10 million people made alters of this one card for pauper reasons.

The only thing i can think to make her work as a commander is a voltron with control elements. Cards like bottomless pit and liliana vess. Field wipes like crux of fate and deadly tempest. There's the traditional black mana ramp and staples, such as necropotence. Give her some auras and equips and she should work as a decent commander.

>>
>>50760060
Options:
Group hug meme dream. Just make a bunch of symmetrical effects with you getting more out of them by building your deck around them.
Enchantments matters. You get a lot of pretty spicy enchantments in those colors from things like Choke Hold to sepersion field. Your win conditions are generally Starfield of Nix, Opal Essence, form of the dragon.
>>
>>50760120
For my Odric, stuff like Mentor of the Meek and Skullclamp on tokens keeps me going. It is difficult though.

The EDHrec list on him is pure garbage. I'll see if I can brew something.

Now, be straight with me anon, how bad is your card draw? I'm one of those "blue" cucklefucks that cantrips in every deck it's humanly possible to do it in. I'm of the opinion that red has better card draw than green because of red's sweet ass cheap looting. I have 3 decks that essentially read: "I have every 1 or 2 cmc draw spell I can find". Am I going to have a bad time?

Angels, Demons and Hydras.
Angels because they're forced in every set because they're popular and often broke as shit, while being the exact same boring as shit "blonde woman with wings and a sword" every time.
Demons because they're forced in every set and the exact same "big black/red humanoid with horns and hooves" every time. They should have never lifted the ban on Demons, Horrors were so much better.
Hydras because hydras suck shit and the fact that Wizards keeps trying to force them as Green's Dragon makes my favorite color worse.

You misread, I like horrors a lot, they're awesome and reflect a lot of that early MtG feel where you had atypical and unsettling antagonists like Yawgmoth's Phyrexians. I hate demons because they're boring and more or less replaced the much more iconic horrors. I hate hydras because they're incredibly boring and not Green at all. Also typically terrible cards. What happens, anon, is that you boost my rampy card drawy decks to the point that I can kill two players at once much faster than I normally could, and then I'll clown the group hug player before degeneracy comes out, along with whoever has the best board state.

The other thing that happens is the other players get salty that you're enabling combo-mcgee over there, and they need to kill you before he cantrips everyone to death.
>>
>>50760233
Because it can buff your opponents creatures. Door of destinies is much better.
>>
>>50760374

>>
>>50760485
Group hug is cancer.
Imagine this. You're in a four player game, and you make each player draw a card. To any given other player, you just made three of his opponents draw a card compared to his one. You're providing each individual player less than what you're giving their opponents, what exactly are they supposed to be grateful for?
Being in a game with a group hug player is throwing out all the guidelines about deck construction and smart game play. If you pack your deck with little ramp and spells that are 6+ mana, you're going to lose against well built and practiced decks. But if you have a group hug guy giving you tons of mana and cards, suddenly none of that matters, and now your shitty deck is being artificially inflated. On the flip side, the tuned powerful deck is gaining way more of an advantage than the shitty one, and is likely going to just run all over the table thanks to your "help."
And that's not even counting the fact that nine times out of ten, the group hug player doesn't try to win. What's the point in sitting down with two opponents and a cheerleader?
Fuck group hug.

Alright, I got a chuckle.

I think their point is that it's not hard to produce the requisite seven mana by t3. not that that's a good argument because you'd rarely, if ever, want to overload rift t3.
>>
>>50760984

"Boy I wish I was playing burn but I could only swing for the dome and my opponent had twice as much life."
>>
>>50760984
Just mill with Undead Alchemist out instead. That way, when you inevitably hit their eldrazi titan, you at least get a zombie out of the deal.

Don't make mill your wincon, make it the way to use your wincons effectively.
>>
>>50760984
Mill can be decent, but you should have cards like waste not, megrim and undead alchemist as secondary wincons.

Also, the best way to do mill is to pair it with disgustingly oppressive discard. Your friends will hate you, but discard + mill is strong.
>>
>>50760901
Explain to me how Food chain and palinchron win you the game when not paired with other combo pieces? Rift is cancer because it's the blue Sol Ring - any deck running blue has it unless they are purposefully trying to gimp the deck. It can and will end games on the spot if your opponents can't counter, all at instant speed for some fucked up reason that only WotC can fathom. Even if it doesn't win you the game, you've just taken a huge greasy shit on your opponents' last 4-5 turns. A tempo swing that major for only 7 mana and 1 card? Yeah, I'll take that.
>>
>>50761012
My point was, if your opponent has 7 mana, you should have 7 mana, and something to play in response, or something to do after it resolves. The other point was, if your opponent has 7 mana, they can win the game in any number of ways, and you should be able to as well. Like I said, only monogreen and maybe golgari are going to have problems against it, but golgari can reanimate whatever you discard, and monogreen doesn't care, because they can just use their 10 million lands to cast their shit again.
>>
>>50761073

Cyclonic rift is a good tempo swing, but it hardly wins you the game, and it's hardly devastating compared to some of the banworthy "answers" like Balance.

The first appearance of trilobites in the fossil record defines the base of the Atdabanian stage of the Early Cambrian period (521 million years ago), and they flourished throughout the lower Paleozoic era before beginning a drawn-out decline to extinction when, during the Devonian, all trilobite orders except the Proetids died out. Trilobites finally disappeared in the mass extinction at the end of the Permian about 250 million years ago.

So, to paraphrase, if you wanted to diss someone by calling them a trylobite, tell them to go back to the Permian Era.

Also you should consider a black and blue commander or even thraximundar or sedris, gives you access to more stuff and also rooftop storm.

nah the thing is that i want to build something in monoblack because i bought all these staples for it and then had to take apart my deck because of group getting sad over kokusho recur spam. i've already found a way to reuse my recur stuff for another deck, so now i only have the monoblack staples like necropotence, cabal coffers, etc.

sadly i've noticed that monoblack has very few viable builds that aren't really degenerate like combo or stax

here are the random ideas i've had

>fuck all creatures: the deck
drana, kalitas, erebos or maybe even toshiro. just smash everyones creatures constantly and use ltb effects to take advantage of that somehow. i dont know
>voltron smash
drana, korlash or someone as the commander. smash shit.
>geth, lord of the vault mill
mill everyone, make big mana, cast their creatures. i dont know what else the deck does.

pretty much. i have a ton of LTB effect stuff already. just not sure what to bolt them on. i know the deck archetype isn't super strong but whatever.

i think i'm the most interested in geth right now, though. maybe if i just put in a billion ramp cards, cheap removal and ltb synergy, then killed stuff with my 99 and resurrected said stuff with my commander. not sure how well it would work, though

I've never been a fan of these guys. The older "make your dudes cost 1 less" had relevant key abilities to boot "Haste, holy power to all, regeneration, ect ect". I feel the impact of this is very small and not really needed.

>Lighthouse Chronologist
Don't. He's a magnet for removal and you usually spend most of your mana just getting him there, then he dies. He's really cool creature, but in most environments he's just gonna put the entire board presence on you immediately.

Here's my list, if you wanna compare. Mine doesn't use really expensive staples but it works in both my casual and competitive environments.

They acknowledge it, and a few legends were revamped in TS, thing is that there's the Reserved List and Dominara as a plane is a pain to do with their current way of doing blocks unless you want just bits and pieces of each area.

The problem with the plane is that most other planes have a set style or theme they can apply evenly with mechanics and the like. Dominara is a deep plane with a lot of complexity in locations, so a return would be either:
>Time Spiral style, touching only the basics and not delving on details
>Only focusing on one area, which isn't how WOTC wants to do sets.

Currently on the Rabiah scale (like the storm scale, 1 is Ravica/Innistrad, 10 is Rabiah AKA Arabian Nights), it's a 4, so not common, but not too unlikely.

So do you guys ever take a whole day just to sort through your magic collection?

Been a year since I did it last and I've pretty much lost control over what the different piles are supposed to be, so I've been sorting through them for the last eight hours, and I'm less than halfway through.

What kind of system do you guys use to organize it?
>>
>>50761054
Mill-Recursion Lazav here. This guy is correct. You either hybrid mill or infinite mana mill with something like Oona. Due to Eldrazi/Blightsteel/Darksteel shuffle you'd need a hefty investment in instant removal of those cards, or things like extract (doing this for everyone at the table sucks)

With my Lazav deck, I have several wincons. Lazzy himself might get lucky with commander damage off a big transformation, or occasional hinder tunnelvisions, or big damage mortivore/consuming abberations, or sepulchral primordial/rise of the dark realms.

But if you want pure mill, infinite mana + mill effect, while carrying toolbox counterspells/removal/removal of shuffle effect.
>>
>>50765544
Orange & Golds > Playsets and staples > sorted by color (all commons and uncommons) > lands

>>50765757
Anthousa cuz I've never seen anyone play it
>>
>>50765735

The most popular infinite mana > infinite mill combo is Oona, which exiles libraries, so no

As far as infinite mill combos like dusk mantle guild mage, you would need gy hate like leyline of the void to beat blightsteel collosus, tormod's crypt would be enough to beat an eldrazi Titan

But the thing is, that sounds worse than it is, because if you're milling your opponents as part of your deck strat, you should have plenty of gy hate anyway
>>
>>50765645
Because just 1 less is really meh. Thats it. It's not really impactful and honestly, I'd rather use something like Cloudkey and just choose creatures.
>>
>>50765735
No, you just need things that remove them instantly before their effect. Google MTGsalvation "need-cards-that-can-respond-to-eldrazi-shuffle"
>>
>>50765757

You say you like control, I think you could do Olivia Voldaren as a BR control deck with lots of draw and lots of board wipes, then late game get Olivia online stealing stuff

Also you could do mono U goodstuff control with Thassa, she would just be there to scry every turn early on and in the mid and late game be a solid force in combat, both as an indestructible blocker and for her unblockability ability
>>
>>50765822
blightsteel's text is a replacement effect instead of triggered ability to it functions slightly different from the eldrazi titans
>>
>>50765822
as far as I know, the only way for BSC to actually enter GY is for it to lose abilities before dying
>>
>>50765819
Costing 1 less is huge man, late game I'm casting 3-4 wizards a turn hopefully, bouncing them back and forth. Stony brook is one of the most important cards in my Azami deck

Cloudkey can't be tapped by Azami to draw cards like stony brook can, it's a 2 mana wizard, and it makes all your wizards cheaper which means more cheap draw

I mean if you played with it and THEN cut it, that's one thing, I looked at your decklist and it's not bad, so I trust your judgment, but you should definitely try it if you haven't
>>
>>50765944
Oh I did, and I did take it out.

Actually, Fallowsage tooks it place. I added Trickster recently and its put in work. I actually think it got up to a 11/11 before someone killed it.

I never used a bounce subtheme. More of ways to get your MoM combo out. Long Term Plans is amazing.

Hypocrital casuals, or edh un a nutshell
>>
>>50765855
Love both of these ideas, thank you.

Current Olivia has a ton of removal, it's actually how I originally made her. She was my first deck ever and went really well. I added discard to up my ability to steer things my way and it was a little too effective. The other guy (she was eventually changed for 1v1 but I'm looking for multiplayer decks now, new group) never got to play. I felt bad so I took those out. Bringing her back to her roots could be fun.

Thassa can definitely work like that. Cheap as hell in terms of land, too.

>>50765976

Fallow sage is dope, I've never tried the trickster but I'm always on the look out for 1-2 cmc wizards, might try him

I used to run mind over matter but I decided I prefer my other combos, so I cut long term plans and lab maniac too, now my deck is focused on bouncing and replaying wizards and I find it much more fun than digging for mind over matter

Now my list is more wizard dense and i basically win by casting time warp with at least 3 wizards in play, which is usually enough to start a chain reaction ending with infinite mana and cards

>>
>>50766352

>>
>>50766242

Seems cool

I run craterhoof in my sisay deck so tooth and nail is often an instant win but not if i only have a very small board, so I have lots of different tooth and nail combinations I like to get

If I untap with just sisay and like maybe a mana dork or two, I like to tooth and nail for Seedborn muse + soul of the harvest, then I use sisay to get yeva nature's herald, so I can basically rebuild a crazy lethal board by the time it comes back to me from starting with just sisay basically

Another one I've done that's kinda funny was I had a pretty gnarly board + gaea's cradle but my elesh norn and craterhoof were exiled earlier in the game so I still didnt really have lethal on anybody, so what I did was tooth and nail for regal force + green warden of Murasa, draw 1 billion, return tooth and nail to hand, cast it again for restoration angel and eternal witness, flickered regal force, got back ghostway, and then I had up infinite ghost ways until it came back to my turn and I could swing with all that shit I drew
>>
>>50766367

I don't run anything with quite that many interactions in my Animar deck. It's basically just a pile of good stuff.
>>
>>50765576

Bloom tender will probably only get reprinted by chance in a Conspiracy set if you are lucky.

Bloom tender is supposed to appear in sets with lots of hybrid mana cards. Which are Ravnica and Shadowmoor.

We won't see it in another Return set because it's "too powerful" for standard.

WotC never wants to touch Lorwyn or Shadowmoor again.

Save your money. Bloom Tender Is only good once you reach WUBRG, but at that point you probably already have all the mana fixing you need to reach that point. And it is a fragile as fuck creature.

I use Roon in my Bant manlands deck and a good way to clear blockers, disrupt enemy attacks, or save vital pieces from board wipes. If you use him, make sure you have ways to untapped him like Sword of the Paruns or some of the untap equipments from Lorwyn.
