Audio effects can add to the energy of combat but I find it only helps add anything if it's a voice based game. If it's textfaggotry, things are too slow so really you'd just be better off describing things via text, including any "sound effects."

Depending on the party and the tone of your campaign, you could just describe it pragmatically.

Don't let anyone attempt to replicate or generate the sound unless the group unanimously appreciates his ability and you are comfortable with the tone it sets for the combat. If it's a wacky or light hearted campaign, go to town on it.
