Mouse Guard.

That armor is cool! The articulated tail cover being the best part.

Normal animals? I wouldn't. They're nonsapient and can't talk to one another or form goals beyond their own immediate satisfaction. I don't see how that would be fun.

Now, a game about sapient, somewhat anthropomorphized animals...probably Mouse Guard.

Redwall RPG when?

Bunnies and Burrows

Is there any other answer?

One of the many cat-based RPGs?

Fair enough

Playing a Warriors game actually sounds pretty cool

There a RPG system specifically for that, and one of the series had adventures in the back of the books. Never got a chance to try them out, though.

Mouseguard is pretty fucking good.
Also the author and his writing style is the subject of one of the only good articles on somethingawful.

humans having an unexplained connection with epic animals is always cool.

>While animals begin in their base form, they become larger and more dire as they gain experience.
>As they level up, animals get powers based on myths about them (Owls become wiser, snakes become venomous regardless of species, cats gain the ability to steal luck, etc.)
>Imagine leading a combat heavy campaign where all animals are struggling for survival, fighting tooth and claw, and vying to become the king of beasts and be crowned most vicious.
