This thing is actually based on an 18th century muzzleloader with a similar multibarrel layout. It was adopted by some military units but almost immediately dropped once the problem became apparent: it had no provision to fire the barrels individually, all of them had to be discharged together. This not only put the shooter at serious risk of injury from recoil but tended to set everything around them on fire.
>>50657573
Suddenly, the school policy on Pop-Tart guns makes sense.
>>50657482
Just having it is likely to get you out of a good number of situations, without firing a shot*. If things go bad enough that you'd need to shoot, well:
1. It goes bang, and the target is hit, great I guess.
2. It goes boom, well shit, you were going to get beat/stabbed to death anyway, that's why you pulled the trigger right?
*I don't advocate pointing a gun at someone as a threat, but I get that it is a thing people do.

t. Person who hasn't looked at worldwide gun violence statistics
>>50663803
If you've actually looked at statistics, you'd see that the R-squared between gun ownership per capita and violent crimes per capita are not very clearly related.
Id personally put it down to cultural factors. Americans are just violent.
>>50664422
>Americans are just violent.
This.
The swiss don't have these sorts of problems.
>>50656724
>>50664462
Neither do the Israelis.
>hehehehe good goy
But the Americans, once you look at the data, have a surprising low homicide rates for the sheer saturation of guns per person, even if the x variable is gun owners/population.
Basically, it suggests that even if guns lead to an increase in violent crime (presumably because of magic mind contrl powers that every scray black gun has), the US has way, way, waaaay less violent crime than what is suggested by anyone who posits such a direct correlation between the two variables.
>>50664807
>>50663157
>You know that just owning a gun more than quadruples your chances of being shot, right?
I think there is some fuckery going on with the statistics here.
>If someone is pointing a gun at you, playing cowboy is going to get you killed.
Well no shit. If some one catches you flat footed, making an awkward grab for your gun is going to get you shot.
>Just give them your fucking wallet

>and make it home alive.
Hopefully. Once home reflect on how your piss poor situational awareness got you in that spot in the first place. The vast majority of stick up kids are cowards, and you've done something to make yourself look like a mark. Probably you are one of those shitbirds that thought having a gun makes you superman, and you tuned out your environment.
t. a gun owner that has never been shot at (since owning a gun) or robbed.
>>50664584
America is a unique case. America may have a high per capita ownership, but owners are generally concentrated in clusters and ownership is largely treated as a hobby, so many people own a dozen or so different guns. The pocket effect leads to things like some areas of the US having four times the national average of murders.
That being said, America still has a violent crime rate and second and third degree murder rate higher than many countries with more strict gun laws.
>>50665276
The problem here is not the guns, we don't have a gun problem we have a culture problem. Culturally homogeneous societies tend to have much lower crime than heterogeneous ones like the US.
Finland has 39 in 100 people have a gun with a murder rate of 3 per 100,000, contrast russia with 3 guns per 100 but a murder rate of 20 per 100,000.

>>50667612
Caseless Ammo is lighter weight, which means you can carry more.
Down side to caselss ammo is that it has no case to contain the expansion of gases that propel the bullet forwards, so the firing chamber has to seal up and do that job instead after letting the bullet into it, which invariably means some moving mechanism that opens up and reseals.
And when you're using gas blowback to move the mechanism, you then need a load of gearing and safety shit to stop it going out of control and trying to fly away if the system becomes over pressurized.
(I'm also fairly certain there's a similar weird "bullet twisting loading" system on the P90 due to the magazines slotting in on top of the gun and the bullets lying 90º from the direction the gun is pointing)

>>50669441
I think for the era of origin it would. Looks like weapon intended for biplane pilots taking potshots at each other. While one pistol round would probably not damage wing bad enough to down the plane, a dozen or so would.
>>50669349
Metal casings also contribute as heatsinks. Without them, all the heat from firing goes into the weapon and stays there.
>>50669349
You've over looked the biggest challenge to caseless ammunition adaption (in rapid-fire weapons), heat. In normal cased ammunition the case absorbs a portion of the heat from the ignition of the powder and is then ejected removing some heat from the weapon system. In a caseless weapon this heat builds up in the chamber of the weapon, which can cause issues like premature detonation of the ammunition upon chambering, melting of the propellant (assuming it does not ignite), or of the polymer body of the weapon itself.
This is only an issue if you discharge the weapon very rapidly (think minigun or machine gun), or for sustained periods for moderate fire (think assault rifle) and is very dependent on ambient temperatures. Which would make excellent flaws if you are planning to arm your players with such weapons, or if they ask to be armed with such weapons.
>>50670269
>>50670283
66 seconds apart.
Neat.
>>50670269
That was only an issue with the very first G11s, it's since been solved
>>50670320
>it's since been solved
It may be have worked around for the G11, but the issue of heat build up in caseless weapon systems is still one of the major issues of their development. Hell it still crops up in cased weapons as well, like the G36.
Calling it solved, seems like a bit of oversell.
>>50657904
This one looks pretty fookin cool actually. IMO
>>50670283
>>50670591
>>50670269
You basically just need to add bleed off valves inside the firing chamber and a little bit more propellant to the bullets to bleed off and cool the firing chamber down after the bullet's off along the barrel already - it's a simple thing to do thermodynamically, the expansion of the last bits of additional propellant into a larger space (such as the outside of the gun) lowers the pressure of the firing chamber, regulating its temperature in the process in line with Pv=nRT, and it's a solved problem from the steam engine era to do engineering-wise.

It's not guns that are the problem in the US, it's blacks. Blacks account for most of the violence that is commonly attributed to guns. The US white gun homicide rate is comparable to the French or German (white) gun homicide rates.
Which is also why places like Brazil and South Africa have such high homicide rates, despite having strict gun control.

gun control does work over here at krautland.
at least we do not distrust our government so much that we'd need weapons that are made for times of war. in case of robbers, a pistol or shotgun is fine.
on the other hand, people who try to get firearms to commit a crime could still get them illegaly , but are less likely to do so because it's a much bigger deal and further risk than going into a shop and buying it there.
and makeshift weapons do not allow you to deal nearly as much damage before you get caught.
restrictions on ammunition is another point, since this stuff is most important part of the weapon. try making that stuff all by yourself, it takes quite the time.
>>50681845

Segregation implies you're still keeping them in the country, though, not sending them elsewhere so you can have your lovely German Germany or whatever.
It's not the fact that the majority of people in the US aren't native to it, or of one ethnic background - it just turns into a ridiculous argument instead of the relatively simpler solution of trying to give everyone an education and prospects and waiting for time to sort it out.
>>50682082

You may be surprised to find that many Americans are of an American ethnic background.
>it just turns into a ridiculous argument instead of the relatively simpler solution of trying to give everyone an education and prospects and waiting for time to sort it out.
And that turns into a ridiculous farce over what constitutes an education and if an 'education' will fix anything at all, never mind that certain people don't want an education. As opposed to the much simpler segregation to a few cities or possibly states, maybe even reservations.
