As someone who does this, if your players are making dice towers mid RPG it's because they're bored.

if a guy is bored while waiting for his turn in combat it's because
>A: he's a lousy shit that isn't paying attention to what's going on and will have to ask about it when his turn comes; and then also hem and haw over his action, thus delaying the game
>B: he already has an action plan and somebody else is doing the option A

In either case, SOMEBODY is getting closer to being booted.

So don't make everyone's fucking turn 10 minutes long. Basic math isn't that hard, descriptions don't need to be overbearing.

My only player that did this wasn't paying attention to what was happening and when it was his turn he didn't know what to do.

It pissed off the other players so much they yelled at him and now he doesn't do it anymore. Other players didn't like him taking two or three times as long for his turn as they spent for theirs.

Feels good when players take care of the problem player for you.

Hey man! We have a "no table talk" rule that prevents us from discussing strategy or giving suggestions OOC in the middle of combat. Sometimes the guy that went right before you fucked up what you were planning to do and you need 20 or so seconds to reasses.

If a player can fit something into a 6 second gap, like "run over there" or "attack this guy" then we usually allow that. I think that sort of "battle chatter" is a good thing.
