It's over silver paint. It's a translucent crimson paint, so unless you apply it really thick you can get some interesting special effects, but you have to be careful to apply it evenly to get an even distribution. Easy enough on infantry pieces, but it's much harder on vehicles.

This is just a quick swab over my drill to show off the translucence. It's also a bit glossy, so it looks a lot better in person than in pictures.

As long as it's done well mixing bits is the point of it really. I'm using some HE seaguard bits for my Alphas (the sea serpent banner top bit), some DE swords for power swords and a bunch of other stuff.

I picked Imperial Fists in part because Dorn's unbending will and loyalty really appealed to me (and this is was before I found out how awesome Sigismund and Alexis Polux are, for different reasons). I really like the idea of doing your duty for the sake of duty, and then being honoured and rewarded for it (instead of seeking honour for its own sake).

The power scythe is 300% better than a Talon.

Chem hand flamer more or less equals the serpenta(better overwatch, more hits, and shred vs deflag and +1A for dual wielding)

The termi armor is basically artificer armor and a refractor field in one, but DS have the option for cataphractii for a 4++. Plus the termi armor gives relentless, sure they dont use it, but its still a bonus rule that they have.

Shrouded is in place of scoring, which is huge in 30K.

So it's a pretty close swap. Need to hone in their special rule, that may increase their points depending.

Since you're playing SoH you might want to invest in Drop Pods, following that if you still want to use Veterans as troops then look into kit-bashing a Maloghurst the Twisted mini and mixing it with the Orbital Assault RoW so you can have Veteran troops in Drop Pods. All legions had all marks. All legions used all marks. It's retarded for a military force not to use equipment provided to them.

Only exception is the MkVII, which came around at the very end of the Heresy and even then was mostly issued to loyalists on Terra. Some heretics might have snagged some for themselves, of course, but bulk would have gone to IF, BA and WS.

The shininess and darkness of the grey gives me bad memories. It could be fine and the shininess is just smooth resin and the color means nothing, but it could also mean it's sweating release agent.

Even when I get perfectly fine resin that happens to be smooth and slick, if it doesn't show up as matte in the light I get triggered.

All resin models come with release agent. They spray silicon or other oil on the rubber molds so that the finished model can be removed from it without ripping or damaging the mold.

Normally you can wash this off just fine. But sometimes, the model absorbs the oil into its pores for some reason. This means no matter how often you wash the model, after a few hours it will slowly seep out a thin layer of oil again, making priming it and painting it impossible as the oil causes all paint to just bead off like water.

If I wash a resin model, and it's still shiny under the light, this causes me to become paranoid of oil sweating. Often it's just shiny because the resin is so smooth, but it's still a little OCD thing I have.

I have very clean hands and hate oil, so it's very easy for me to feel if a shiny piece of resin is actually oily or not. If I rub my thumb on it and it's squeaky clean, I know it's just shiny cause of the resin and not because of any oil remaining.

Standard vanilla 2xCastellax with maulers, 1 bolter and 1 flamer. That is for walking up the board. If I want to be cheeky roll with 3x Vorax for outflanking. Either way that is enough ablative wounds to get him into punching range.

His weakness is the same as a Primach, high volume of high str shooting. Do not engage in CC just move away and keep shooting, he has shit mobility anyway, unless its ZM most armies can just move around him.

I do this all the time to people who play with Primachs, unless its Konrad or Corax you can just bait them into a corner and then push down the other flank or focus fire them into the dirt.

Ha you read my mind. I was just crunching numbers of him vs Corax. Corax wins out in round 3 or 4 in a straight slugfest 1v1. Taking into account shadow walk, scourge, hit and run, and vector strike. Didn't take into account the chance to blind or cause fear though.

Zone Mortalis was pretty fun.

No pictures, but some highlights included:

Any NL/WE players with bloody models can give pointers on how to get CONSISTENT blood splatter?

I can make blood splatter on a piece of paper just fine. However, I can't aim it for shit and I can never get the right amount on it so I either end up with models that have not enough blood, just the right amount of blood (a bit of splatter on one side of the helmet, etc less is more), or WAY TOO MUCH splatter.

Looks like the Executioners have the option for Boltgun, heavy chainblade, Volkite chargers, and a single rotary. None of them replace anything.

The Headsman gets PW, Chain Glaive, single claw, or fist.

I used to run NL, and like most NL players I thought Terror Assault sounded the tits.......it isn't. While on paper the Terror squads sound good without a transport or a table with shitloads of terrain they will get wrecked AND they are expensive as fuck. Raptors are way to expensive and sitting ducks as well. If you are going to play NL I suggest going balls to the wall drop pods. Tailor to your meta though, what do you the guys at your regular games take? are they vehicle heavy? arty light? or are you just playing casual with a friend or two?

Nice work and thanks, that was the biggest problem I was having with planning my Scoria. Going to have two weeks off come this Friday and I will probably order a bunch of stuff then, so I can actually get started on some reasonable chunk of army.

Going to replace the Abeyant with a big scenic base, and will come off it to go into the turret of my Baneblade I'll be using with the Ordo Reductor.
Thanatars look utterly beastly with the buffs from Cybertheurgy, hope he looks good when you're done with him. 8 instadeath blasts at AP2 seem like something I should probably include just to really annoy that one WE player who always runs Angron+ 10 Butchers.

I recently discovered how fun assault is in this game, so I'm probably going to include some Vorax and Arlatax just for cool value.

This is the first time I've been properly enthused about doing a project itself, instead of what I'm going to get at the end on the game table. Is this what being a hobbyist feels like? :)

My meta is mostly non-existent at this point, which is sad, though I'm trying to generate interest. There's one guy who's new and really only has some KDK on foot, my friend from my old shop has a ton of 5th edition meta eldar with a bunch of rangers, and occasionally a few people show up with a few different armies like Marines, tau, orks, and IG. I think one of them has nurgle daemons, too.

In terms of HH, I'm the only one, though I know SOMEONE bought the other BoP box that my store got. I just don't know who.

My problem is that I'm mostly converting from plastic and I want to also be able to use them as 40k CSM since the new legion rules came out.

It's shame about raptors and terror squads being bad. I was having fun converting them.

Keep in mind that most of my stuff isn't together, but i have a ton of bodies. My collection consists Calth, Prospero, and I've started getting CSM raptors and kit bashing them into Night Raptors, though they're not glued yet.

Worst case scenario, I just build them as CSM or something.

What do I need to read for Raven Guard rules, most up to date preferably. I've been reading about Rite of War called Decapitating Strike or something, but didn't see it in Legiones Astartes Age of Darkness army lists. I'm so lost with all this stuff please halp.

There's also one more rite of war for them in another book, (can't remember which, sorry,) but you can get a description of it on the 1d4chan tactica page (also in the OP links, also very much worth a read). However, that ROW isn't really of interest if you're planning on going pure RG, it's more for if you want to pair them with some militia allies. People will say to use 20 man squads because it's more thematic for 30k, however they're really fucking vulnerable to artillery spamming. They basically require an apothecary to stay alive.

By the time you've got 2 mandatory troop slots filled with 20 man squads with apothecaries, you've spunked 600 points on immobile artillery sponges who can't kill really anything, but can sit still on objectives, unless charged by: any primarch, anything world eater, deathshroud/grave wardens etc OR anyone who's brought medusas or quad mortars

I've got a question for all those XVI legions players out there, loyalist and traitor alike. So with the release of the Traitors Legion supplement for CSM, the Black Legion got a unique detachment called the Black Legion Speartip, with the highlight special rule being the deep striking reserves can roll for first turn reserves and the warlord and his attached unit can automatically deep strike first turn should you wish. Would you like to see a RoW like this? Should we try brainstorming one?

Not an outright refusal, but the Iron Warriors would likely maintain very, very few of them because of the fact that it didn't suit their fighting style. Salamanders would probably operate similarly until the Heresy. Afterwards, especially given supply conditions, they'd likely have taken anything they could get.

True, but there were a fuckload of Iron Warriors back then, about 180 000 (I don't remember if Gate 42 was before or after the Hrud, so their numbers could have been like ~220 000). 0.5% of 180 000 is still a full Grand Battalion of 900 dudes (they went from 500 to 4000).
I've always thought of IW Seekers and Despoilers as doing trench raids.

It's a lot of points but with decent saving rolls that 4++ is one gaint pain in the ass. It can eassily be kitted to either mow down infantery, punch through anything, or a bit of both. I can only speak having experience from the recieving end, because I think they look ugly.

Nah, for three reasons.
1. Turn two is the earliest you can get your reserves for a reason.
2. Orbital Strike already does that.
3. It would devalue the teleporter that IF and NL already have.
