If you're going to put two yan then you should put them on opposite ends of the obsessive to possessive scale.

That is to say, one yandere should manifest the virtues of an obsessed yandere who wants to know everything about you, be with you every day, lick your face and memorize the taste and knows everything you've had over the last two months.

The other should then be the possessive yandere who wants to know where you are at all moments, demands that she accompany you wherever you go. Hates to see you talk with other girls and gets angry/jealous when you do so anyway.

And if you're feeling brave you can make a third yandere for obsessive-possessive yandere which is basically death via love.

Here’s how I imagine the character story:
His mother family was minor nobility, and they had some troubles. They promised the hand of their daughter to whom may be able to solve them. An Oni with nobility aspirations solve them with less the moral means. The family, don’t wanting to break their promise, gave the hand of their daughter to the Oni. The character is the son of such couple. But the family and other minor nobles saw the Oni, his methods and aspirations as repugnant, and assassinated him.
The child, being a hybrid and only a child, didn’t impose much threat, and the mother becoming extra paranoid with his safety, made the minor nobles ignore the child. As the child grew, however, he got more aspirations of nobility and power than his father, and other nobles returned to see him as a threat. Such is the reason behind the Assassin Kunoichi drawback. To obtain his objectives, he learned the methods of the Tonji, and acquired the Dark Attraction in the process. The Jade Weapon was a family treasure. The skills that he learned was what was natural to someone with political desires.

He is a close friend of Gennosuke and respect him, and tries to seduce Oboro (which I think he will be able to accomplish, since it seems “natural” that Oboro being stronger than the main character [“twig-arm”] [which is also a fetish of mine], but he is also as charismatic as possible, and also almost as smart as possible, something that she doesn’t seems to have so much ability in, and in turn it’s something for her to respect in him. Also, he is half oni, always properly clean and with alcohol and dancing skills. I imagine their relation a LITTLE like revy and rock from black lagoon in the beginning.
He would agree and incentive Ji-Hyon Tae experiments, as it would benefit both of them.
He would try to solve the problem of the cursed onseen to have a place to regenerate his magical capacities and stuff, also maybe some experiments (to hopefully also help remove the mark). Paekku Pilgramage and Ninja Vs Samurai it’s for the money and fame as mercenary. The character is particularly adequate to manage the battlefield in the Ninja Vs Samurai case. In Jeong Expedition that would be realized with help from the money from the mercenary work, in the end he would put Gennosuke to rule as king-god, as a trusty friend and uncle of his lover and a capable strategist, but occasionally use the habitants of the island as sacrifices to Ji-Hyon experiment. By then I hope the issue with the assassin kunoichi would be solved, I think it would have a fine chance of converting her to an ally, for pretty much the same reasons as Oboro.

The Monster Girl Island would be the logical next step as the character would be with one ally less, and already doing expeditions with boats. By then he should have certain fame as mercenary and as explorer, and with his status and nobility upbringing and skills, (and hopefully a kunoichi ally), maybe it wouldn’t be hard to infiltrate and solve the issues of the Emperor’s new Court, and also give him and other nobles a positive impression. Then he would acquire money to solve the issue with The Captured Phoenix, and become a more distinguished individual (and powerful) as result. Hopefully by then the issue with the Mark would also be solved. With such prestige and power, it would be the time to try to solve the The Oni Damyo’s Wife problem and obtain the favor of a new noble and a new noble wife.
Then it would be the time to gather an army and powers and try to expand to an actual political power. First it would accept the Crown of the Yellow Emperor, but keep the Crown to himself, maybe hinting as a bargain, but in the end use it as a symbol of his fate to rule in the The New Shogun scenario. If he succeeded, it would make sense to investigate The Winter Folk, maybe gaining immortality and then ruling them and transferring the capital of the empire to that place. (I wonder if he as a hybrid could have sons with the winter folk? Doesn’t matter, but I’m a little curious). In the end he should have…5 wifes?Oboro, the othe noble oni, the kunoichi, the monster girl, and the winter girl. I like the idea of various wifes because I feel that I’m so emotional unstable that I would need multiple wifes to take care of me to keep me always stable in the long run.
Maybe then he could order some subordinates to do the other two unaccepted quests.

I choose Oni because of the advantage of augmenting all stats with alcohol. I didn’t want to be “ugly” for my standards as a normal Oni, and also wanted the bonus stats from the Hybrid boon, I disliked most races that would imply that I would have a very different anatomy (such as the lack of legs), and humans had nice practical benefits (more magic to use, more stamina to counter part of the effect of the dark attraction) and “fate” ones. So choosing a human/oni hybrid seems natural.
I putted evenly the extra status in personality and sagacity because 1) that’s what “mages” use to cast, 2) seems the most relevant attributes to play strategically in big conflicts and to help rule. I divided evenly because I couldn’t estimate which would be the more important or how much.
BackStory Noble for the skills and to help justify an attempt at ruling the land. Soldiering would help in large-scale battles, and etiquette would help with people in general, but more importantly with nobles, such as the emperor, the daimyo, or minor nobles.
Alchemy is obvious. Would help kill enemies with poison indirectly, maybe could help dealing with spirits, potions could bring all kinds of benefits, and being an half-oni the alcohol is a must. Plus, a choose two other oni companions later on.
Dancing is basically an extension of the etiquette skill in purpose, specially that could help with alcohol from alchemy. Might help more with the common folk or girls, too.
Class Tongji because I wanted a magic user one to gain benefits from Personality and Sagacious, and between the three of them, I liked more the skills of this.
Plague Bearer to help with large groups of enemies (or help my allies against a particularly strong one), Soul Drain because it can heal me, heal my allies indirectly, and because it’s one of the few attacking skills from the class that doesn’t have a huge drawback, like the scream that affect me and my allies as well.

Skill sap for the same reason of blood sacrifice and to help debuff strong enemies.
I hope that with the maximized magic potential (18 status in total), the Jade Magic Catalyst, lots of alcohol and potions, and with Blood Sacrifice I could Skill Sap to take even more magic-related status from enemies (probably sagacious, with luck I can make them retarded or vegetative), and then with even more magic potential use blood sacrifice again to cast Soul Drain in the enemy. Maybe with luck I can make up to the blood that I lost in the two Blood Sacrifices of the process (maybe some potion can help in this too).
I wouldn’t want Mind Flay even if it was free, it seems to help little and be a complete disaster in the long run.
I’m very interested in raise dead, but it will have to keep for later, will count on the companions to do this function for now. But if I get it eventually, it would be nice to have my own army of undead, specially since the built was made to consider medium and large scale battles.
Dark Portal is nice, but not a priority.
I really wish I had some equivalent of Spiritual Empowerment (to maximize even more the magic skills) or the Eye of Amaterasu (because I feel a lack of directly attacking spells, specially powerful one).Maybe a version of them directed to Dark Gods instead of good ones. I would probably still picked the skills that I have chosen, but it would be nice to imagine developing such powers later in the story.

Magical Catalyst to help magical potential, and it’s the only one I could choose.
Banner to help in large scale battles, would come in handy in combination with Plague Bearer, and maybe in the future an small army of undead. Magic Focus also seems something nice to have in the future, but not a priority.
Sentinel Stakes to help in large battles and against the Kunoichi Assassin. SweetScent to improve the social effects of etiquette (and maybe personality?). Endless soap for the same reason as SweetScent. Dark Attraction seems the least horrible of the other 3 drawbacks, and fitted in the thematic of the character. Plus, maybe it could be removed, and choosing human as one of the races reduces the stamina problem, choosing Ji-Hyon Tae should help too.
As such, Ji-Hyon Tae is justified, and gennosuke and oroboros would help as melee in the early events. Plus, as I took alchemy and they are onis, I should be able to help them with alcohol ( Oboro might also be less problematic of other wifes, too). I wished Mizuna, but the lack of legs was a big “no”.
I didn’t take wokou wipe out because I wasn’t confident in my sea fighting abilities, and journey to the west didn’t fit what I planned to the character.

Skills Etiquette and Soldiering, and I guess first aid. Ready to unite the three nations.

Gambling as my miscellaneous skill, because those abilities transfer to war.

I guess for class I'm pigeonholed into Tongji, but I'll pick Mudang instead. Forces of Earth. And I'll deviate from the norm there, using my earth for infrastructural purposes.

Elemental wall, to build fortifications all at once. And it I make very long, wide, and short walls, perhaps roads. Spirit walk since it seems really useful in combat and to pass walls. Cataclysm, for military victories. And elemental fusion with water, to irrigate fields in case of drought.

Apparently arbitrary class limits what I can wear for no good reason, so padded armor.

For weapons, a magical catalyst is important, and a banner for the armies, and a melee weapon and shield. Nice that, by my race, I can use them all. A banner would also be good but I can inspire my troops with magic instead.

The items are mostly skill-related so I'll take the ones that are related to my skills. Anyway, I'll take a cleaner pipe to avoid poisoning and the cloak of warmth for camouflage.

Jade weapon on my magical catalyst, probably necessary to succeed at the kind of large-scale magical stuff I want to do. I'll take the Kunoichi as payment, and will rape her each time we meet until it stops being an issue.

is the one I'm changing since it's inTERfertile, not infertile. I'm taking that, and being half mintouren to get the anti-lie ability and help thwart assassination attempts. To pay for it, I'll take only one companion.

That one will be Monoko Tadashi, who seems like a good defense against the kunoichi. After all, if she watches when I sleep, and I watch when awake, I will always be watched.

You need more companions that aren't linked with others. As it stands, the only way to get an oni or hoilyu is to blow slots on two of them.

Also, the "Replacement" shinobi power takes much too long to use; a few seconds without too much movement is far more than enough time for someone to run over and shank you, much less just shoot you from a distance. If it were just a split-second of concentration, that would actually be useful, even if you had to add other penalties like a cooldown or something.

As for things that aren't fixes, more misc. skills would be quite neat, and maybe some more magical items to choose from would be good, since most of them are limited by your skills right now, though not troublingly so. More boons and drawbacks could be good, but then again we don't want this to be one of those things where you just pick a bunch of drawbacks that don't severely affect your build and use them to get a shitton of powerful stuff.

All the classes are super combat oriented, it would be good to have a few that aren't. The arbitrary restrictions on armor don't make much sense either. Better to make armors that strength categories of abilities than to just rule some out for some classes. Actually, the class system seems overly rigid in general, it would also be good to let the player take one skill from another class.

Items are really heavily limited by the skill restrictions, since most of them have those, and those are further limited by the background connections, in effect you're put a lot in place to remove the choice from the CYOA.

You should also consider breaking up choices according to content, instead of arbitrarily, so you don't have "continued" bits for small sections like the quests.

We'd probably all meet in a tavern or something, because that's what adventurers do and that's where a cat that does magic, a barbarian that went away from home and that's led by her wise uncle, and a shady thief would meet. Then we'd do the Samurai vs Ninja quest, where we would piss off the ninja and get the kunoichi assassin on our ass. I don't think we'd be able to kill her off but she shouldn't be too much of a nuisance if we're careful. Seems understandable if their father was grooming them to be good little marriage fodder, but that then begs the question of why she was spared the same fate? Did he just arbitrarily decide that he liked her enough to actually give her a bunch of privileges that her sisters never had? There needs to be a compelling reason why he would favor one daughter so much more than the others as to give her a chance to learn all those things. That's likely what Ordionanon was referring to when he thought it was mary sueish.

Aside from that, there should be more pacing and details regarding the politicking that led to her being targeted; give us something more about the antagonists and their goals than just "dickass sisters" "evil cousin" and "suitor's evil father".

Done right though, it could make for a neat tale about a couple's journey to reclaim their birthrights.

I made a pretty long built early in this thread that said that I imagined her as Revy with Rock from Black Lagoon.

In the beginning of the series, Revy acts like Rock is shit.
Than she starts to care for him and respect him, more and more.
Then her attitude change from being 'particulary foul mouthed to him' to 'just foul mouthed in general'.
And then, by the end of the second season, she shows more dere side than tsun. With other people she would still be very agressive and foul mouthed, but with Rock, while not polite, she would constantly show a caring attitude.
This would change in some particular circunstances like when he saw her doing something she considers embarassing, but still...
