My roommate is making a dart fighter for a 2e game. With the RoF and attacks per round for specializing, does the RoF allow him to able to throw 4 darts per round or does he get 4 dart per attack per round?
Other info; Human, Str 18/00, Con 16, Dex 17, Int 14, Wis 16, Cha 16.
Nothing?
This has got to be the most specifically esoteric question I've ever seen. Holy shit.

Eh... you've obviously never been in /pfg/ or the Ask an MTG Judge thread. There is something fundamentally wrong with 3.PF in the way you construct a character level by level the same way you assemble an MTG deck.

Not digging out the books, but I seem to recall that there's a table that shows the changes in ROF for specialisation. Check in the Chapter on Proficiencies?
>>50589049
That table specifically says attacks per round. So is that different then rate of fire?
>>50587534
Darts are a ranged weapon so it goes off of the ranged specialist chart. What level is the fighter? If he's level one he would get 4 attacks every round with a dart as a specialist. meaning that he throws four darts total in a single round.
>>50589481
You're overthinking this. Rate of fire is just another term used for attacks per round when ranged weapons are involved.
The fighter can make 4 dart attacks in a round at first level, when he reaches level 7, he can make 5 dart attacks, and then 6 dart attacks at level 13.

It's less esoteric than you'd think. 18/00 dart fighters were a 2e meme equivalent to 5e's crossbow specialist.
>>50589634
So does the rate of fire but mean anything once attacks per round surpass it?
>>50590394
Rate of fire = attacks per round.
>>50587534
Gotta be 4 damage rolls for one attack roll. Any other ruling, even RAW referencing ones, are objectively wrong.
Quick question for anyone still in this thread. What are the max Attack per round a straight class fighter can get with melee weapons? This is taking into account that mastery high mastery and grand mastery are all being used. My DM and I keep getting it mixed up. From what I can tell I can get as a fighter at 13th level with grand mastery can get 3 attacks every round. am I right?
>>50591002
A 13th level specialist attacks at 5/2. Grand mastery adds another attack per round on top of that, so you attack at 7/2 (three attacks in one round, then 4 attacks in the next round).
Two-weapon fighting can potentially add another attack per round with an off-hand weapon, for a grand total of 9 attacks every 2 rounds.
>>50591223
I thought the progression was 3/2->2/1->5/2 so wouldn't the next progression be 3/1->7/2? just asking.
>>50591361
No, grand mastery gives you a full extra attack each round.
I'm sorry if I'm being a bit thick about this, but let me see if I've got it.
>No specialization = 3 darts/round
>Specialization @ lvl 1 = 4 darts/round
>Grand mastery @ lvl 13+ = 7 darts/round
Anything else that this build would need?
