I played a kobold rogue in a 5e game a while back. I took the arcane trickster archetype. Her backstory involved apocalyptic visions, and dreams of an eldritch dimension. Basically a scaly CoC investigator.
She was ironically the most sensible person in the party.

Later on she began to embrace rather then fear the world in her dreams and took a homebrew prestige class that gave her control over lighting conditions

It depends a little on edition, but, off the top of my head, they can potentially live for a century or more - it's just they usually get killed before they're 20 or 30. That's the price of being at the bottom of the food-chain, and why they have such strange breeding practices - PF kobolds get more fertile as they age, 5e kobolds are gender-shifters.
