Post GrimDark art, characters, locations.
Double points if you write the story of the character/location.
I'll start I suppose
anyone lurking?

>>50526482
appreciated
this is totally not for the not!Souls ttRPG
there was no greater resolution for this art :(
well I'm off to bed, I hope this is still up by the time I get up
>>50526527
I've considered running a 1 on 1 dark souls esque game before, but I've not been too sure about how to do it
>>50525067
I am, now
>>50524716
>>50524716
I have tons of spooky scenery that could potentially be grimdark, (it would fit in in a dark fantasy setting) but isn't inherently, and I'm not sure if I should post it
>>50526902
>it would fit in a dark fantasy setting
post that shit
>>50524716
chan claims my post is identical so text goes here
I have more, but I find that the images I favor tend to focus more on the somber and gloomy than on the brutal and the gruesome, which tends to be what people look for in grimdark around here.
I'll post a few more and then I'm off to go make breakfast
>>50527129
You should post them anyways.
>>50526591
Welp, let's see what all I can find in my folders. Although most of it is just hi-fantasy stuff that could be construed as GrimDark depending on context.
Anyone still lurking?
Paolo Girardi does some of the best grimdark art
Obligatory.
Also, this does it for me I think. Didn't have too much actual grimdark stuff I'm afraid.
>>50528047
yes
>>50524733
>Skrillex's magical chair modifications business had been far more successful than he'd thought it'd be. He'd even been able to buy himself a crown.
How many lurkers are afoot, still?
Would you guys count dark souls and blood born as grimdark or is there a nobility to them still?
>>50529742
Depends on the difference between grimdark and dark fantasy. Dark Souls contends with the end of an age in every game, and Bloodborne contends with Eldritch horrors from beyond, but each game has what can be considered a "good" ending.
>>50524716
The DLC had some pretty cool bosses.
>>50524728
Going through that blind was hell.
>>50524750
Best character name of all time.
>>50524785
She really should have that her plan out more.
>>50524960
PvP was good here, except for the dragon covenant. Fuck everyone I ran into that way.
>>50525098
Burnt Ivory King was the real hero of DS2.
>>50526344
I don't even want to think about how long he must've been grinding strength.
>>50526429
Isn't that earthen peak?
>>50529742
Everything linked to in this post has been Dark Souls.
>>50531136
>The DLC had some pretty cool bosses.
The DLC for DS3? Is that worth getting? Isn't there going to be a second one?
>>50531239
I was talking about 2, but 3 has a REALLY crazy boss. It's very short though, so I suggest waiting awhile for the price to go down or for another to come out so you can play both.
>>50531280
I'll keep that in mind, thanks. DS2 really knocked it out of the park with Brume tower, though. Fume Knight in particular. Got any art of him?
>>50531344
Fume Knight was a badass, but I prefer the Burnt Ivory King.
>>50531375
BIK had a better entrance, definitely.
>>50531506
Ivory was the true hero of DS2.
>>50531547
He waifu'd a child of dark, one of the shards of Manus. He is what we should all aspire to be like.
>>50529101
I'm here. You have excellent taste in dark, so thanks for posting.
>>50529742
I would say they're grimdark. The protagonist can achieve something like a win, but he's bucking a prevailing trend. The setting has everyone fundamentally screwed. Some do better for themselves, or are just used to it, others do worse and are doomed to horror and suffering. In fact, to transcend the system he's in (win), the protagonist must go out of his way to subject himself to the worst it can offer. So you might say it's less a matter of winning than buying himself out.
>>50531663
Op here.
The story of DS2's kings and their waifus is to this day my favourite one.
>>50531136
>Isn't that earthen peak?
Shh,It's Tseldora in the souls ttRPG, a land that the iron king mined dry
>>50532406
Ivory King was one of the greatest tales to come out of Souls, if only because of how radically different he is from other characters. He was an absolute fucking hero.
God, I love this series.
>>50528882
I love this artist so goddamn much
>>50532406
Funny that that story is the best, considering that Shalquoir is Best Girl.
>>50532454
Is there any story comparable in DS3? All the other games had some twist or something intriguing, DS3 had "bring back all the lords, or their cinders" and that's exactly what you do, no revelation or betrayal near the end, that's just it. Sometimes I think the Usurp the Flame ending is the only one worth getting.
>>50532560
Everything to do with the Pontiff is glorious. He's just such an asshole and I love it.
The rest of DS3 really seemed less like new stories and more like the resolution to preexisting ones, like my bro the Giant Blacksmith and my love the Fair Lady Jesus Christ why does everything good suffer.
>>50532560
I want to snuggle that cat
>>50532608
Pontiff being such an asshole makes his death all the better, same with Aldrich. Speaking of, got any good art of the DS3 bosses? I seem to be lacking.
>>50532649
Back of the line, anon.
>>50532691
It is a very soft and comfy kate
Not much lore on her though, other than she's old and knows a lot
>>50532691
The Pontiff and the Abyss Watchers have some of the best art, along withthe Soul of Cinder.
>>50532830
After so many games they finally managed to get the final boss right. And what a boss it was.
>>50532873
Bloodborne had fucking amazing final boss, if you're not doing ending C.
But still, the Soul of Cinder. The fucking theme.
The. Fucking. Theme.
>>50532945
Is ending C the one with the Wet Nurse as the Final Boss? I think that Gehrman is the best final boss of the three. Moon Presence just doesn't carry the same emotional weight.
Soul of Cinder theme is amazing. The three notes at the start of the second phase let you know exactly what you're in for.

>>50533023
> Wet Nurse: A
> Gehrman: B/The one I'm talking about.
> Moon: C
I fucking love these games. Even 2, widely considered the worst, I enjoyed the shit out of.
>>50533062
I actually preferred 2 to 3, but that's mostly because of viability of more armour types and no quality build supremacy. Those two let me do PvP for days and weeks on end. Also, it had the best looking dragon form, skele-goat and bird-lizard are no fun. Is there any art of the Black Dragon armor? I can only find screen shots.
>>50533214
>>50533172
Nope, sorry. Also, fuck almost everyone I met during dragon duels. Fucking cancer.
>>50533258
No kidding. You place a reward for getting 30 wins and no other way to get them is a recipe for disaster. Speaking of which, weren't hexes looked down upon? What was the Hexbabby meme about?
>>50533344
I think it was because they dealt shit loads of damage, especially if you used some rings/consumables or some shit. Basically you could break them into easy mode.50 strength powerstanced duel-buffed ultra-greatswords master race for the win.
>>50533392
Zweihander and Elite knight armor, and "Oscar" for the character name. What shield is needed changes every game, though.
>>50533392
Op here with80+ in each stat masterrace
>>50533757
> Vendrick.
> Pre hollow.
Lol what?
Anyways, I never could bring myself to grind that long. I'm content with my retarded builds that never win anything.
>>50533934I know it's Gwynthis thread is totally not for art of the not!Souls ttRPG

Plan out all the encounters meticulously, make them combat puzzles for your player basically.
Find a system that'll allow you to slowly trickle rewards his way in lieu of the upgrade system.
And make the bosses reliant on one or two gimmicks that while he has to figure them out, he can still overcome.
Thats all i've got off the top of my head. Oh and definantly go full ham on the worldbuilding. Maybe have some "segments" where he has an NPC companion that he can interact with, fight alongside and keep alive for future interactions.
