Greetings, /trusted gentlemen/!
I've been lurking for a while now, but never saw anything about a murder party.
I'd like to give it a try, but have no idea how to go about it.
I will soon have a small farm at my disposal, with a few acres of land innawoods, and I'd like to gather there some people for dinner in funny costumes and something interesting to do.
I was thinking about roleplaying some zombie epidemic or Lovecraftian investigation, maybe invite/hire actors or something?
Any ideas, recommandations, guidelines?
Thank you.

Are you going to use a premade MMD pack, or try to create your own?

No clue.
Cheap would be good, i guess, but I have no idea how complex and enjoyable it could be to just diy the whole thing.
What do you think?

Cut out all outside communication (for best results set it up in the middle of a heavy blizzard or something), kill one of them, make the rest figure out who did it. For best results, kill another one every few hours.

You should acquire some premade MMD kits to see how they do it. Generally, they go like this:
>The host picks a character for each guest to portray, and tells them to come in costume ("Flapper girl, police detective, etc."). Once they arrive, each guest is given a packet that contains a few props (newspaper clippings, a will, a photo, etc.) and a rough script of prompts. One script might have a prompt that says "If someone mentions being left out of Sidney's will, show the newspaper clipping to the group", while someone else might have a prompt that says "If someone shows a newspaper article about Sidney, ask them about their date last night". Guests are encouraged to ham it up and roleplay in-character.
The murder victim is usually an NPC, not a guest, and you never see the murder victim or interact with them. The whole evening is supposed to be the process of figuring out which of the guests is the murderer.
The real murderer is informed because their script says "You are the real murderer".

What do they do when they're dead?

How would you deal with a shy person to put her/him 'in the mood'? Alcool? Music?

Just tell them "It's fine if you don't want to ham it up, just make sure to speak up when your prompts say to".
