Rather than offing himself, as many robots before him had done, he seeks an alternative to life, and goes for the robotic transformation.

He finds that the robot life suits him. Existence without Pain, without Regret, without Misery, suits him quite nicely. The loss of Happiness and joy don't bother him that much, because as far as he was concerned they were out of his reach anyways.

But not all of his emotion could be erased. His Envy, his Rage, his burning hatred for the happiness of others could not be controlled.

Powered by the toxic green flame of his emotions, augmented by the cold logic of his robotic mind. He sets out to take from the world what still caused him such a deep, aching, pain.

It is fine to assume your ideas were what ideas OP had in mind about the changes, but they are not necessities. There are far more important questions anyway. You missed the point so badly that you have no right to be smug for the next two weeks.

Questions that might actually matter:
Since we are all now robots, how immune to computer viruses are we? Could a single hacker destroy all of our minds with a single virus or could we be enslaved?
How difficult is it ACTUALLY to maintain ourselves?
How much of our senses have we lost? What new senses have we gained?
How different are our personalities from before? Could we even be described as the same people?
