I want very little to come of this, but a couple cool fight scenes and pew pews along the way.

GW have demonstrated they're bad at grasping how to portray a setting stories happen in rather than a stupidly oversized story.

Literally kys.

Also the levelling only drops off at the end of the chapters not each mission. The idea being you don't have to play the same class for the entire game
>>
>>50390261
why not just make it like l4d, with no leveling, if its going to be so fucking pointless? this isn't a competitive pvp shooter, theres no need to have levels go away every mission set. It's pointless, and shows that they've just tacked on coop and don't really care about it at all, if they want to make it 'like a moba'

Cause progression feels good. I hope they add a cosmetic progression like in DOW2.

Also they did just tack on co-op. Don't preorder games without knowing what you're getting. The beta was exactly what I as expecting.
>>
>>50390344
I actually preordered because there was a beta, and its at no cost to myself because I already got a refund. they also said there would be no customization of characters outside of weapons because its supposed to be 'narrative driven' even in coop.
>>
>>50390366
and I'm perfectly fine with progression
as long as it doesn't reset every time I close out of the damn game. that makes it pointless because you just have to work it all back up again in the game every time you want a better weapon.
>>
>>50390339

Riptide has no weaknesses, that is why it is at the moment the best unit in the game and riptide wing is the best formation in the game.

>cheap

Hardly, that thing is like 200pts. I'll fight a lone Riptide over 200pts of Crisis Suits or Broadsides any day.

Also it's one of the only MCs in the game that doesn't have Fearless. Stack morale modifiers, charge it with something tough that can win combat by a point or two, shoot it with Psychic Shriek, whatever. I've seen Riptides run off the board when their Missile Drones so often that nobody I know brings the Drones any more.

>>
So is there anyway to make the game have less AP2 weapons without gutting entire races?
>>
>>50390320
>>50390342
Pretty much both of these. Riptides hit hard (I've seen one wipe out a squad of Meganobz) but they don't hit often. A good tarpit can simply remove them play since Tau don't have a way to break them out.

The other thing is that Riptides (and most Tau, really) are weak to psychic powers. Outside of one piece of Farsight wargear, they have nothing to Deny the Witch with. Psychic Shriek can tear them apart with even just an average roll. Haven't seen it happen, but on paper Enfeeble and some decent shooting would wreck them too.
>>
>>50390497
There is literally nothing wrong with turn one assaults. The only broken aspect of it is shit like SM deep-strike-after-charging-guaranteed-first-turn
>>
>>50390531
I like the idea of thunderhawks dropping vehicles in the middle of a combat zone, it should be a standard option for all marine flavours, including spiky.

>>
>>50390586

Thanks, senpai.

Wasn't actually trolling though. I like footslogging armies, which were a dumpster fire in 5th, and the most competitive armies were all SM. Remember how everyone and their dog played Space Wolves, Grey Knights or Blood Angels? Remember how Necrons and DEldar were both stuck with dexes two full editions old?

>>50390567
The hell you're talking about? The fact that orkz had competitive build back then proves you wrong, back then you could foot slog, vehicle rush, etc. And it was fine, muhriness weren't even top armies back then, those were necrons with the punch yourself relic and other gimmicks, even then you had a chance to BTFO necrons even with orkz, MOTHERFUCKING ORKZ.
>>
>>50390611
I remember shit like green tide doing pretty well back then. I did decently with some nids.

I don't know. Maybe I had less waccfags. I dislike 7th ed for the absurdity that formations allow.

>>
>>50390642

>>
>>50390706
damn thanks for the tip man, i always thought tablets were hundred of bucks. guess i dont care how many different rule books they put out now
>>
Does a squad of 10 Pathfinders have 10 Markerlights?
>>
>>50390751
GW always has a tendency to slowly make more and more powerful stuff, then make something practically broken and then suddenly tone down everything until the change of the edition when the cycle starts anew.

They new that gladius was too good, so every single decurion since then has been considerably weaker, all the way to GC which is the first really good one to come out since the space marine codex.
>>
>>50390770

Yup, just get one of the Amazon tablets and you can sideload the Google Play store onto it (which takes literally 5-10 minutes and involves just downloading one folder and running a program, it does it automatically).

Then just get any epub reader app on it, and job's a good one, you can have every codex, supplement, data sheet and formation for free and in one convienient place.

I bought one of those tablets specifically for just that. Considering it costs only slightly more than a single codex.
>>
>>50390773
Yes, markerlights are standard kit on Pathfinders, integrated onto their carbines.
>>
>>50390712
A box of three? Feels a bit weird for a HQ.
>>
>>50390781
See but then you get the fact that GW says they dont care about rules and they are a model company. but you can sorta tell they make rules to sell higher costing models.

Formations are a named group of specific units you can field. Each often has varied amounts of certain units. Each also gives those units bonuses.

For example you have a formation called The Bloodshart. It's made up of a DP of Khorne and 2-5 Berzerker squads. That means to run it you must have at least 1 DP of Khorne and 2 Berzerker squads, but you can have up to 5 in this formation. The bonus is if within 24" of the DP, all berzerkers are S/T 10 2+/2++/Rending/AP1.

Formations also act like the basic mandatory armylist (1 HQ 2 Troops), so you can take formations as their own "list", so your army can be made up of 3 Bloodsharts.

Detachments are even larger formations that are made up of smaller formations! With more bonuses! Now the Bloodsharts are also 1point per model!

>>
>>50390594
I miss how in 5th, you could assault from a non-Assault Transport if the transport didn't move, since it let you use them for area denial.

>>50390567
5e Marines had Bikes, Space Wolves had Loganwing, and Blood Angels had their rodeo builds. Grey Knights had their options for foot builds too.

Orks ended up having to go more Wagon-intensive simply so they could get a "reliable" tank destroyer, but they still had enough FOC swaps to build a reliable TAC army. That, and Kans were incredibly durable for their cost as HP didn't exist then. Meganobz were good as disposable Klaw vectors simply because the game didn't have Shriek or Grav back then, and Plasma was less efficient as Rapid-Fire was stricter; if you wanted to kill a Meganob, chances are you needed to trade against shooting Wagons/Kans instead.

I'm not worried about Termis being shit; I'll buy some anyway because they look cool. I'm not even worried about any of the units being shit.

What I'm worried about is that I'll pay $70CAD for a box of shit I didn't need and won't ever use, because I bought too many Rubrics to use in a reasonably-sized game. Or that I end up with too many HQs or not enough weapons or something. Or that I end up with something that can't even be played as a CAD or whatever their Formation ends up being. Stuff like that.

I know for a fact I will be ordering 1000 points worth of Thousand Sons but I don't know which book(s) I'll need to go with it or even what 1000 points of Thousand Sons looks like on the table. etc etc

Death Guard have more aspects than nurgle that GW could easily expand on:
1) chemical warfare
Give them chem munition rules in 40k

2) scorched earth
Give them phosphex in 40k, just because a "loyal" Magos destroyed the phosphex STC on mars doesn't mean the hereteks don't still have lots of the stuff

3) mostly infantry
formations represent this easily enough

4) fight in conditions extreme even for space marines
poison/rad resistance? void hardened for outer space scenarios? army-wide move through cover?

Nobs is a naut' is such a fucking bullshit tactic, nerfs when?!

Seriously. It's got space for six Orks inside and, as we all know, six Orks have the poternial to do a lot of damage. Filled with Nobz, who can stay safely side up to the last moment before piling into combat, useful for holding up enemy units you don't want getting in to combat with the Gorkanaut.

The first thing to note is that it's a very resilient walkers, with plenty of Hull points and nice high armour values to keep it alive as it steams accross the battlefield.
Festooned with highly-destructive weapons and all impervious to the most powerful enemy munitions. No self-respecting Ork Warboss would go in to battle without one - or, indeed, outside one, as the Gorkanaut also serves as an impregnable battlefield transport!

Genestealer Cults is actually a pretty good army.

>special ambush rules
>success on ambush test = free round of pinning shooting or infiltrating within 3" and charging immediately, depending on exact roll

>can re-enter reserves and ambush again if no enemies are nearby, like Finns in flames of war

>genestealers now have stealth, agility saves and a bonus attack, same points cost as before

>regular cultists are guardsmen with low tech weapons like a mining laser drill modified to be a short-range lascannon

>armored-up mining vehicles for your open topped transporting needs

>also have access to common guard vehicles

>hybrid acolytes are very cheap in points but having rending claws and can spam demolitions weapons and hand flamers

>all HQs have 12" psychic auras giving special rules to nearby minions

>tyranids with telepathy

>automatically pass look out sir, even in challenges, aka your HQs are always the last to die

>everything costs hardly any points and has hardly any armor, gravfags BTFO

>can infiltrate the entire army if you run your decurion
>units that already have infiltrate(purestrain genestealers, anything with a cult leader attached) become shrouded on the first turn

Memestealer Cults are the new hotness.

Tzeentch is the God of change and schemes.

A universe consumed by chaos is binary state. Everyone loses and are either dead, driven mad, or are being raped by daemons 24/7/365. There is very little if ANY room for change in this new domain, much less any scheming.

Therefore, a universe wherein Tzeentch wins is the worst possible outcome for Tzeentch.

A universe where everything is always on the brink of going to shit, sometimes getting better only to get much much worse shortly afterward, however, is exactly the situation the Tzeentch wants to lord over.

There is room for change. There is room for plotting, ambition, and backstabbing.

The same cannot be said in a galaxy where chaos wins.

Tzeentch, the great DECEIVER, is one of humanity's greatest hopes for survival. He fights a guerilla war with both humanity and his own brothers, constantly playing everyone against each other, just as likely to help someone as he is to completely dick them over.

Tzeentch's end goal is not to win. Winning means that Tzeentch's grand game comes to an end.

TL;DR Tzeentch is in it for the lulz, and in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, that means he's the closest thing humanity has to a benevolent deity.

All the gods are both driven and enslaved by their ambitions and essence.

In Eye of Terror there's a bit where a Lord of Change and a Bloodthirster pit their armies against one another, and the Lord of Change knows that deep down the Bloodthirster doesn't want to win, because defeating an opponent will mean no more bloodshed and that's all he exists for.

In Pawns of Chaos the protagonist uses his connection to a Lord of Change to stop it from destroying an Imperial fleet because the horrors they'd be subjected to if they would be swallowed up by a Warp storm is too much for him to imagine. Afterwards Tzeentch appears to him and is rather amused by how things turned out and even comments that he loves a traitor, even one that betrays him, because nothing stirs the pot quite like betrayal.

That is stupidly dull to play with and against. Run your robots with dual phosphor, for one thing, and no more than 1 unit of them. Ditch the Breachers and replace with Skitarii Vanguard with Arc Rifles, and in fact add lots of Vanguard and some Dunecrawlers, at least. A couple Dragoons might add some variety, and NO ELECTROPRIESTS, for Omnissiah's sake.

>>50393277

Ally in a Skitarii Maniple, so 2 troops and no HQ mandatory as their CAD variant. Run your Cult Mech as a Battle Congregation, too, reusing Shroudpsalm is a Machine Godsend.

Maybe toss in a Knight Warden or Paladin to smack things with D when required, as well.

They die like guardsmen to nearly anything, move like them too, and you have no transports for them. I would consider them if they were literally half the price, but ATM they are the worst admech unit bar none.

One tac squad can kill them handily with bolters. If you want taser melee, use Sicarian Infiltrators in 5-squads or teams of 2/3 Dragoons, it will work out better in every way.

Oh, I will not deny they look awesome. Once you have a substantial admech collection consider grabbing a 5-man of each type for the Cohort Mechanicus, an awesome 2500-3k point superarmy that will make you feel like the avatar of the Omnissiah in large games.

I have seen a mob of footslogging Slugga Boyz kill a Riptide - in shooting.

I have seen a Warboss fight a Knight Titan an emerge victorious without losing a single wound.

I have seen an army based on Trukk Boyz defeat an Eldar army with a Wraith Host and scatter bikes.

I have seen Abaddon, in second turn, lose a challenge to a Runtherd.

I have seen an Ork Dreadnought, that destroyed a Land Raider and its Terminators, survive to the end of the game.

I have seen a squad of Warp Spiders run off the board, after having been shot at by Stormboyz.

One of these is true.

Took a Kustom Stompa against my friend's WraithTaudar the other day. I know, I know, I'm a dick, but he (literally) asked for it: he said he wanted to see how his best list would hold up against the T0 faction's best, as near as I could optimize them.

Poor bastard only had 3 Riptide Wings, 3 WKs, & Wraithguard to back up his Tau'nar & Phantom Titan.

Utter slaughter. Da Boyz just kept coming & chewed through his pathetic troops with Choppa attacks like they were made for it. Swear to Gork, I even took it easy and ran some Biker Nobz, and while he had a decent defensive setup for his hover tanks, they just made all their invuln saves and were a mobile power Klaw blender. Even goddamned Biker Nobz are silly for their points now.

His last few Warriors fell when the Kustom Stompa's Belly Gun wiped out their cover and the Big Shootas did the rest. The Taunar just couldn't handle two Orkanauts--their Waaagh! bonus and shared KFF made a joke of his anti-SH weapons. One round of combat was all it took.

The Riptides put up a good fight and put some hurt on my Lootas, but I'll be damned if 7" D-blasts on each arm on the Stompa didn't usher them out before their time.

He would have been mad if I hadn't taken Ghazghkull, but he didn't think ignoring "removes from play" and charging out of Da Jump deepstrike would be that big a deal until it mopped up two of his WKs--jump MCs just can't get away from Waaagh! fast enough.

For all this, the exchange I felt the worst about was when Old Zogwort squigged his Phantom. I know they aren't what they used to be (dime a dozen on eBay, and that's *BEFORE* cheap Dutchman resin), but 1800 points really ought to have options against a single HQ's spells.

Just...man, I wanted all the good rules & characters back, but I never asked for this. He was so buttblasted by the end of it he was talking about just quitting the army altogether and starting a Nids force--EW on Beast MCs and fearless Gaun swarms tmight have stood a chance.

>>
>>50393586
I'm gonna throw in a contrary opinion on the Electro-Priests. Corpuscarii ones aren't half-bad. A 5+ Invulnerable save and FNP means they can stand up to small arms fire better than their profile suggests, and you can use Shroudpsalm to give them a pretty beefy cover save for a critical turn or two. And if they do close to within 12" of the enemy, the amount of St4 hits they can pile onto a target is absurd. Even if most of the squad gets mauled, a handful can still do a lot of damage to enemy infantry before going down.

I've run a unit of ten every time I've played Admech, and they've rarely been so bad that I've regretted bringing them.

He's still head and shoulders taller than a regular Daemon prince, and much fancier looking.

2 points extra strength and toughness too.

I just figure that at some point during the design process, they failed to keep it in their pants and overscaled him about 25%.

And yes: Magnus can change his size! The larger one works fine for if he has Iron Arm cast! Just... Bad for default.

>an updated Discipline of Tzeentch
It's about time. Even if it's not as OP as those rumors, anything is an improvement over getting a variable strength havoc launcher with soulblaze as the primaris power

I'll take a guess on the formations:

>War Cabal
obligatory demi-company

>War Coven
Chaos version of Librarius conclave

>Tzaangor Warherd
obligatory cultist horde

>Sekhmet Conclave
>Rehati War Sect

Auxiliary formations, probably incorporating terminators, dreadnoughts, daemon engines, since they are referred to as "conclave and "sect" they will probably require an exalted sorcerer to lead them

>Ahriman’s Exiles
special formation for Ahriman, duh

>Grand Coven
Thousand Sons gladius equivalent, with some sort of bonus to saving throws(see Magnus rules preview)

>Lorestealer Host
mixed formation of Tzeentch daemons, "lorestealer" implies they can copy psychic powers or drain warp dice from the enemy?

>Brimstone Conflagration
swarms! may also contain flamers/burning chariots

>Omniscient Oracles
>Heralds Anarchic
names imply Lord of Change and Herald of Tzeentch, respectively. This is the likely location of Daemon Princes and Screamers respectively.

>Pandemoniad of Tzeentch Detachment
decurion for daemons, tzeentch only

>Chaos Artefacts of the Thousand Sons
>Tzeentchian Warp Storm table
will be fun, expect some really weird stuff

Tzeentch Daemons already have their own artifacts and warlord traits from the previous Fenris book so they aren't missing out in that respect.

the solo experience might be okay, but its also non-randomized, so you'll only bother with it once.

the coop is awful. Not only do you respawn out of thin air 20 seconds or so after you die, but theres no customization, no randomization, and your levels reset every game, since they wanted to go for a 'moba experience.' They basically showed how tacked on coop is. And without it, their game will be dead real soon. A lot of people expected coop l4d/vermintide in 40k, but this isn't that at all.

I like the first person thing, though playing as a Terminator is kinda meh imo.

I'd rather see a first person 40k game be something like Dark Heresy meets Fallout New Vegas, where you have to go around a few different planets doing merc work, fighting mutants, starting out with just a laspistol and a shotgun and having to acquire your power armor, plasma gun and the rest, through hard work, powerful allies and the black market.

It would be great to see the 40k universe from the eyes of just an ordinary human, is what I'm saying. You aren't a superman, everything is scarier than you and you're pretty much dead(or worse) if you ever have to fight a Chaos Space Marine or a Genestealer Patriarch.

God damn that pic makes me sad because 'nauts are so damn nice models. God fucking damnit GW cant you make them small-scale Superheavy Walkers. 1-3 per LoW slot, wield separately but deploy at the same time. Maybe add +25-50pts to cost since they are much better as SHW. There. Orks have one more, "small" LoW choice which would rival Wraithknights in cost/effectiveness department.

Crusader kit comes with all the options to make every single knight (except renegade ones). Magnetising the weapons are piss-easy and there are retard-proof guides to do it. I know since I'm such a dumbass and still managed to do it.

Knigh Warden is actually most cost-effective knight there is. The Heavy 12 BRRRRT-weapon is very effective against everything.
