Yes, except for the Limited pledges. With those, you have to get in before they fill up (or before the cap number is lowered/stopped if they're doing it time-based), otherwise you're stuck waiting until somebody drops their pledge at that level.

I signed up for the Black Friday Lantern. I am tempted to add on $35 for the First Hero expansion, as that seems to add a lot in the way of options.

Lion is a very difficult, stupid fight, for a decent reward the first fight you win. Beyond that, prizes are crap for the horseshit you need to go through to get them.

The tree is nice looking, but is mostly a pretty terrain piece. You can fight it as a nemesis, but you lose a survivor just to go hunt it, and it is a pain in the ass to fight without a team of axe users. Rewards can blow up during the fight, and mostly make monsters stronger if they get to them first. If you get them as hunt rewards, the results are subpar.

So I only really want the base game. What would make the expansion worthwhile?

Like I'm sure it's a good game, but $1666 is enough dosh to buy a cheap car or a top-tier computer. On entertainment dollars that's like 25 new-release video games, or 200 classic movies, or eight quality miniatures games including the original box.

I cannot fathom how you could expect to play the game so often you get play value for that much. I barely got play value out of Space Hulk 3rd and I played that with a roommate every weekend night for almost a year.

This adds some major post Watcher changes, gaining the Final Lantern, upgrading iron weapons and unlocking the Death Die. A special d10 that is passed around the table and replaces the monster controller tile, adding a further layer of research and development to upgrade it.

I'll make another update that reveals all the other 1.5 updates. But i figured, lets just skip to the "secret" reveal first! Bwahahaha!

Oh yeah, this has already gone into production months ago and will not effect the estimated timeline of the 1.5 Core Game or 1.5 update pack... at al!!!!!!!

I get having a shitload of models. I have an entire wardrobe for models and shit; half of them never painted or used. I probably spent minimum three grand of 40K alone back in the day.

But I did that in bursts of 20-50 at a time, only more when I specifically wanted something and worked up to it. It's much easier to pretend you're not spending it then.

What I don't get is spending it all, $1666 US, in one go. I know how you can 'end up with' a few thousand dollars worth of miniatures, especially if you like them. I don't know how you can 'plan to spend' that much.

All things told, minis are a really cheap hobby, and this particular deal gets you a ton of really, really well made, quality stuff, for what is effectively dirt cheap compared to its standard retail pricing.

My boss is an avid fisherman, and recently spent $15k on a new boat, and a few more to put in a state-of-the-art sonar system or some shit. My dad fancies himself a golfer, and might spend anywhere from $200-400 on a single club if he's gotten it into his head that it will somehow help him play a better game. The way I look at the hobby, I'm getting a ton of minis, which give me modeling AND painting enjoyment, and I get something cool to display when I'm done. Solo rules work fine, and take a lot of the "discussing" out of the settlement phase as you're the sole arbiter of which resources get spent on what.

I did have a problem with the high mortality rate though. Sure it's graphically thematic but I always found it would usually leave one guy out early either during the hunt phase or as an early casualty in the showdown. And if not dead, at least crippled.

So I've been playing for a bit with a friend on Tabletop Sim and we're unsure how monster actions work since we don't have the rulebook. If the monster AI card says "Closest threat, in front" and then says "Closest target, in sight" below, followed by "Sniff", does that mean that if no player is in front or in sight, it'll use Sniff? I assume the AI controller decides if two people fulfill both criteria on either line
