Actually Indians can be split into two rough groups (the situation is a little more complex than that due to mixing of the two populations, but this is basically true): North Indians are descended from the Indo-Europeans and more closely related to Persian and most European populations, while South Indians are their own distinct group. I don't believe either can be said to be most closely related to Middle Easterners unless you're talking about Persians, Kurds, and other Indo-European groups in that area.
