I considered that and gave it another read. I figure it's possible but there is no evidence in the text or art to imply something unnatural is happen other than the main character's unusual reasoning. If we had other characters to compare him to I might consider this bit of information as more valid but he is our only subject developed enough to see the logic of that world.

What I'm saying is that it's not enough to say "a wizard did it," whenever the rules are broken. We need to have clue that the wizard is doing it as well as some reason for the need of a wizard at all. The rules must be broken in a tactful way otherwise the breaking of rules looses it's impact.

Consider the Cycle

The first hunter was not the first victim of Jenifer. The comic ends as it began. The introduction of a new man, is the continuation of the cycle. Isn't it merely Too convenient that a new "hero" comes to save Jenifer at the same time her current benefactor has had enough?

It's narrative short hand that the monster lives. And is still a threat. Which is meant to impart one last creepy feeling in the audience. This feeling is the take away. It will linger
