Has anybody tried using Malcador squadrons in their legion lists? I'm running Terror Assault at 3k and a squadron of them would be a great way to use the one heavy slot I get. Thinking 2-3 with demo cannon and battle cannon.
>>
Are legion Inductee-Automata meant to be in the scheme of the legion, or of whatever FW the Legion nabbed them from?
>>
>>50319912
yes
>>
>>50319902
3 in a squadron could be pretty nasty, if you take the commander upgrade.

Dubs still pic one of the following Legions and if loyalist or traitor (no Blackshields/Shattered Legions) for me.

Death Guard
Iron Warriors
Salamanders

Are lightning claws worth it on tartaros terminators? They just seem so expensive at 15pts. Maybe have one or two, and have combi weapons and fists on the rest?

>>
>>50319972
WAAc set up is 2 chainfists, 3 lightning claws, 4 volkite chargers,1 heavy flamer per 5 marines
>>
>>50319953
traitor death guard
>>
>>50320012
I thought the heavy flamer was a bad option? Not thay non, I just saw someone saying that in a thread recently so I'l wondering.
>>
>>50320003

- Death Guard for their used look and the ability to run terminator only lists and still be somewhat effective as it seems.
- IW because of bitterness... and because they have a "sledgehammer-flavor".
- Salamanders because I like the Color, the dread Character and I had some 40k Salamanders about a decade or so ago.

I actually have an IF 40k Army, but I'm bored by them and don't consider expanding into 30k with them.
>>
>>50320126
:'( But we're really cool in 30k.

>three battlecannons
With the command upgrade, 1055 points. I mean, you could do worse things with your single heavy support slot, but you better ensure nothing like a melta support squad deepstrikes nearby
>>
>>50320115
With it you can face just about anything, and also people are less willing to charge in that conscript squad if i can kill 6 with one weaponn in overwatch.
>>
>>50319972
It depends on what you're fighting, against massed marines they're situational but expensive, and you're able to sweep so even swords ought to be able to sweep. I run Night Lords teleporting cataphractii with a chainfist and four fists as late-game cleaners to remove squads from objectives and take them once the enemy fucks off. 220 points well spent to snatch an enemies victory points and take them for my own
>>
>>50320138
Cassian Dracos
>>
>>50320138
Cassian Dracos Reborn looks pretty much like a Dreadnaught for me, given he's not an IC but he's got a name and so on.
>>
>>50320138
Cassian Dracos, the first Legion master of the Salamanders, now in a Dread forged by Lord Vulkan himself. Inmune to melta, lance and other shit, with IWND. And then you Obsidian forge it...
He survives Istvaan
>>
>>50319972
I ran 5-man squads of teleporting Imperial Fists with 1 Chainfist, 3 Power Fists, 2 combi-plasma, and 1 plasma blasters. I can field 25 terminators in 3 to 5 squads. They tend to make really fuck up the enemy's heavy infantry and can threaten armour too.
>>
>>50320126
For PotL, DG can have 30 footslogging Deathshroud, 9 Grave Wardens+Typhon in a Spartan and Mortarion @ 2500

I've no idea whether this would even do anything against any list, but that's 60 wounds of running terminators
>>
>>50320216
>25 teleporters
Thats crazy, i'm the >>50320184 NL guy and i can never do more than one teleport squad since they're probably not gonna turn up till turn 4 with my rolling, which i've learned to utilise properly for late-game objective snatching. What else do you use in your army to survive until the hammers strike?
>>
>>50320208
Is he in the same Dreadnought that Bray'arth Ashmantle is?
>>
>>50320126
>>50319953
I would say salamanders. They seem like the one you truly love.
>>
>>50320261
Ok that's a lot of termies
>>
>>50320285
2 to 3 units of 20-man tactical squads with attached apothecaries, a couple dreadnoughts. I'm very lucky in that my play group are basically all playing out of BaC or BoP boxes with some tanks from 40k so we don't have to deal with AP 3 Large Blast spam. We're still having a grand old time playing massive infantry battles.
>>
>>50320285
Accounts like yours make me think a LR Proteus / Damocles Rhino is almost mandatory when relying on teleports
>>
Children of Sicarius or The Thirteenth Wolf anyone?
>>
>>50320216
I plan on a similare loadout for my 5 man cataphractii, but I'm trying to find a use for the tartaros from Prospero.

>>50320184
The lightning claws lets you re-roll wounds and adds an extra attack, seems nice for munching normal marines and later sweep with tartaros. Power swords are cheaper thought, so I don't know if the bonuses are worth the points.

>>50320012
I'd take combi plas myself, but seems like a flexible loadout. Not a fan of the flamer thought, but the overwatch is kind of nice when I think about it.
>>
>>50320355
I think LClaw + Volkite > 2Claws
>>
>>50320318
Still sounds like the meta over there is rather tame. Where I play most people also mostly build their armies using B@C and BoP, but if you got units in reserve that don't turn up in time your army gets fucking murdered.

>>50320126
Colour isn't an argument, but Salamanders are THE sledgehammer
>>
>>50320323
When your entire army is teleporting, flying or outflanking, its necessary to have it for reliability. Especially if you have enemy meme legionaries with their reserves denial shenanigans around. For me, since its only a tenth of my army most games, its not mandatory to have them turn up turn 2, and it can be a great way to snatch a victory when both sides big guns have been ground away in turns 3/4.
>>50320355
When you can do four-five wounds more than your enemy then sweep with a squad thats something like 75 points cheaper, its better. Lightining claws are good on cataphracts/indomitus, but its not necessary on Tartaros due to sweeping meaning you only need to take of a few wounds before running them down. Basically, four cheap squads is probably better than three kitted out ones in the vast majority of cases
>>
>>50320408

Ok, definitely starting Xana II Mechanicum to get into 30k after asking a few questions here over the last week or so. I'll have an excuse to spend some money come Christmas and my War Convocation is all done save the Knight.

Thing is, I'm torn between Legio Cybernetica and Ordo Reductor for my starting army, so I was planning on something like this for my starting buy.

Ordo Reductor forces: 6 Thallax, 20 Thralls, 2 Artillery tanks, Magos Reductor.

Legio Cybernetica, 2 Castellax with Darkfire, Scoria, Magos Dominus.

Expand later with a Lightning or 3 Vorax to run with Scoria.

Sound good for a game around 1500-2k pts? Going to paint them in Taghmata Scoria colours, obviously. This means I can field everything with a primary+ allied detachment, and it all seems to work together quite well.
>>
>>50320466
He should be a character. He's the former legion master, who survived all the way from their inception and exemplary battle in the Earth's mantle until a few years before Vulkan's arrival, he also has a Warlord Trait, an alternate profile with Cybermancy and survives Istvaan.
>>50320442
>>50320582
But he already had 40k sallies and he's literally saying he likes the scheme. That means it wasn't a problem. Unless he doesn't want to repeat that colour, but had he meant so he'd have said the same stuff he said about the Fists. But it's a good point, yeah.
>>
>>50319972
Tartaros are for purging scoring, not fighting other elites. Claws are good.
>>
>>50320588
>Scoria, Magos Dominus
wat, do you mean you'll use the dominus model for Scoria?
With Mechanicum, it pays to specialise. Reductor through scoring tanks, cybernetica through saturation of robots
>>
>>50320354
You beat me to it.
>>
>>50320380
That could work, I have not considered a single claw.

>>50320428

>>
>>50320261
>>50320307
Speaking of Deathshroud, would I be fucking nuts to footslog these terminators? They seem like they'd be better at it than every other variety due to their wounds and their ability to run and sweep, plus fluffy
>>
>>50320597
The true problem is, that I never was that undecided about what Marine army to get next (I had BT, Salamanders, Jiffies, still have said above IF) . I'm torn between the 3 since several weeks. I have a B@C and a BoP Box sitting here as a cheap foundation for my future army so that I can pump the real $ into non-generic FW units, but I can't decide for shit. That's why I decided to let the luck of somebody else on this board decide, since I like all 3.

>>50319953
Bumping myself in the name of the Emperor... or the former Warmaster.
>>
>>50320715

>>
>>50320637
You both beat me to it.
>>
>>50320673
It depends on what you're sending your LClaws at, since an entire squad is expensive. You can give a squad lightning claws for shredding and an extra attack, or you can gain another two termies and a meltabomb/powerfist. If you expect to run into any enemy termies, take Powerfists so you can kill them easily. Powerfists are great because they instant death 2w guys like Justaerin, deathshroud and firedrakes, all of which are ded'ard. Beware anything that strikes with AP2 at initiative though
>>50320715
less stupid than most but still stupid. You could Pride and MSU them for like ten units of three for 1250 points, and they'd still be pretty capable. Medusa will fucking murder them, but if you have ten squads and some AV support it could work

Heavy weapons support marines are just the worst.
135pts for 15 heavy bolter shots on 5 normal marines and take up a heavily contested slot.
Whereas quad heavy bolters are 120pts for 18 twin linked HB shots, T7 from shooting, and can lose 3 marines before losing effective unit firepower.
I hope FW sorts that out.

No, Scoria will be converted from a whole bunch of stuff, the Dominus model among them. The extra Dominus is there for when I am playing low-points and casual games where dropping a Primarch-level model on someone would be poor form.

Specialising seems doable, I can fit all the robots I need in a single Aliied Detatchment, so they get the +1I and Scoria gets a fancy Cortex Controller, and everything else gets Walkers In Ruin. The only thing I lose from that is Scoria's Warlord Trait, and that's no big deal since it only works outside CC range anyway.

Also, by having LC be secondary detatchment, I dont suffer from the "D3 points for control loss" problem.
>>
>>50321113
By specialising in either Toughness models (robots) or armour (scoring tanks) you can overwhelm someones ability to deal with it effectively. A plasma support squad will kill off a unit of castellax and attached Dominus, but it'll struggle against four units of robots or massed tanks. Similarly, melta/lascannons/similar will have trouble against massed robots. Thats why specialisation is the best way to succeed for taghmata. You can mix and match, and it'll probably be more balanced against basic footslogging Legion lists, but you'll get destroyed by well-played armies. Just a heads up, you do your thing and spend your money on what you think is cool

Those seem cooler to me than the robots, but I wanted a few to be an "honour guard" of sorts for Scoria and because the Castellax and Vorax look good.

Most of the lists I saw at the FLGS were fairly casual anyway, lots of footslogging stuff.

Alright, 3/4 of the way through Master of Mankind
There honestly aren't really many spoilers, you could probably guess the plot of the book reasonably accurately. It's well-written however.

Of note I guess is that the Emperor considers the Primarchs as simply creations;weapons and tools, and refers to them by creation number instead of name and as 'It' when in the company of people who won't give a shit about sentimentality.

The Custodes do indeed have anti-grav vehicles and their own Dreads. Land's own Raider is also antigrav.

Yeah, this doesn't take climate change or continental movement into account, but then again what does "Asia" mean in 30 000 years?

I still find it strange that Alpharius decided that the best way to humble Dorn was to fight him in a dual, rather than luring him into a trap. Like not even having a suicide vortex bomb on your person, just in case ? I always thought that having multiple backup plans was a big part of the XXth. The whole ending made the Alpha Legion like such amatures.

Meanwhile the more direct master of precision application of brute force Perturabo does lure Dorn into a trap instead of fightin him one on one. Like come on, if even an autist like that knows what the better plan is why did BL decide that half the primarch known for planning ahead even for remote possible scenario's had to completely fuck up.

It's probably a reference to the Gobi Desert because most of the 30k's references are either very obvious (like how the Atlantic Ocean is now a barren, dusty wasteland as revealed in Nemesis) or named in reference to some real-life or antiquity region (Hy Brasil, Achaemenid Empire, Yndonesic Bloc, etc.)

Imperial Webway is bolted onto an Eldar nexus city. The Eldar all ran away when the Imperials turned up. The ruined area beyond it up toward the breach is called Magnus' Folly.
The Emp sits on the throne holding a psychic shield over the whole Imperial Webway, if he were to get off it would collapse immediately. He issues orders by summoning a Custode Tribune into his memories. Mal and Dorn are left to their own devices above, Emps isn't impressed they are losing the war.
The Custode Tribune is the only one left, the other 2 are dead, they were the 3 senior guys under Valdor. The Imperials are losing the Webway War as well; not just daemons are attacking them now, the World Eaters and Legio Audax have also somehow got inside.
The Emperor orders that the Webway army gets reinforced; there is literally no-one left in the Sol system to send except a Knight House that were locked up for briefly being traitors before learning the truth, the last Mechanicum troops and a lone Blood Angel cripple. Arkhan Land decides to go along as well because he's baller
The first memory the Emperor shares is of his childhood. In some mud-hut shithole in ancient middle east (like really fucking ancient, pre-Hittite) his job was to clean up corpses for burial by moulding mud to their bodies to make them look whole. He was good at it due to psychic powers. When he gets given his father's skull to fix up he is able to discern how his father died; struck in the head by his uncle, murdered. He goes to his uncle and kills him by stopping his heart.

might add some more. the actual plot is just the fighting in the webway, which goes how you expect

Alright second lot of 'spoilers', the book is good but it's mostly all entirely fighting in the Webway and the Emperor revealing his entire plan to the Custode Tribune dude, and the plan is pretty much what we all already know, so no huge revelations. The Emps is utterly devoted to ensuring humanity survives and his plan would have totally worked if it weren't for Horus and Magnus fucking it all up, he's dedicated his entire existence to it and has no interest in glory, worship, personal anything and rejects people saying he's arrogant and power hungry completely, everything, everything goes to the plan and he has no time for any bullshit. He does indeed manipulate the primarchs and people in general to this end but tries to be nice about it, however the ends would have justifed the means

Drach'nyen is a daemon born at the moment of the first murder. He/It seems to be intent on confronting the Emperor
The other memories are the Emps and Land examining Angron to see if they can get the Nails out, they can't without killing him, Emps decides that even though the Twelfth has reduced lifespan and ruined tactical acumen as compared to his design, he could still be of use so returns him to his legion instead of offing him
we also see Ullanor and the Emp admitting he did the Triumph and all the Imperial pomp and shit because he knows the Primarchs and the people need that kind of emotional manipulation
He also explains why he can't guide everyone perfectly by showing the Custode a memory of standing at the base of a cliff - the future is the top, you can see it; climb the cliff. The Custode loses his grip on a rock that looked solid but wasn't and falls. Yes, the Emperor says.
When asked why he lets the Primarchs, especially the Sixteenth, call him father, he basically says that he's Gieseppo to Horus' Pinnochio.

I think I can do one more

There's a big difference between "murder" and "kill", the former implies far more emotional connection, something strong enough to actually coalesce in the warp.
Especially if it was the first time ever.
It would also make that daemon literally billions of years old, nearly as old as intelligent life itself.
>>
Last one until I finish, lesser stuff mostly

The Black Ships are ordered to switch from collecting people for Astropath etc training to simple industrial hoovering up of all psykers
The Fire Wasps are present, as are Custodes, Sisters and everything in the Mechanicum army lists
The Blood Angel is from the Crusader Host, he didn't get picked for any combat roles because he lost his arms in battle and augmetics won't take to him without malfunctioning, so he's combat ineffective. He's titled Bringer of Sorrow which is rad but hasn't been explained yet
The loyalist Mechanicum are super salty about Mars being in traitor hands and increasingly only support the Emperor because without him they can't get back to Mars
A good chunk of the book describes the journey from the palace down to the Webway gate, it's really well written, the Eternity Gate is awesome etc. It becomes obvious that this road was meant to be the way humanity travelled to the stars once that whole pesky spaceship shit was done away with; what becomes the Throne Room was really meant to be the Departure Lounge

I think i'm forgetting stuff. I'm nearly at the end, I expect much death, people are already getting bumped off and everyone's acting like the Imperials are totally fucked.

No Wolves, only marines are the Blood Angel, Dorn if he counts and a bunch of nameless Fists standing about saluting. Ullanor is like 1 page of description, the rest is the Emperor explaining the point of it all to the Tribune.
oh i remembered something
It's pretty much confirmed the Custodes exterminated the Thunder Warriors. One of them wonders if they were to do the same to the Astartes. There are 300 Custodes early in Unification, who are the Emperor's personal guard, they get expanded to 10,000 later (and are called The Ten Thousand amongst themselves and by the E. The Emperor seems actually honestly quite attached to the Custodians, seeing each of them as unique works of art he's proud of creating. The first Custodian to 'die', the Emperor is having none of it and has him personally made into a Dreadnought (the first one?) Of course this feeling/info is stuff only communicated through him talking with the Tribune, so it could be part of his manipulations

Because an opponent might abuse it and have you sweep into something your unit couldn't handle.
Now it doesn't really apply to Scoria, Decima and the Robots (monstrous creatures and otherwise more than capable of manhandling anything shy of a Titan), but for marines this can suck big time.

>>
>>50323842
I'm tempted, but not only would that be a hassle, I almost don't want the scene to look like a battle. Scoria is terrifying, and the marine is aiming his pistol and knows it will do fuck all.

Scoria isn't even looking at him. I want him to seem like the main villain in Act 1 or a movie, just stalking through the horror while his Mooks and redshirts die around him. He's a Mook Horror Show.

Wondering what legion to make the marine. Possibly Iron Hands? They have such an "endurance" theme it would fit.

1) You could have the Scoria passively raising a hand to stop the pistol round, almost like a token show of resistance

>>
>>50324059
Well, in a realistic, grounded setting, maybe bayonets don't make sense. But this is 30/40k, where it's pretty common have 7ft tall superhumans running up to the enemy and twatting them with a sword. I think bayonets are perfectly fair in this setting.
>>
>>50324077
And? I think the hints suggest they ended up on a space station and then just grew up traveling on space ships until they had their own pirate fleet
>>
>>50324139
Just why is it that the warp revolves around humanity that much? The first murder happened when the Eldar were at the height of their power and humans couldn't even write or harvest. I heard something about WW1 and Verdun having some effect in the warp but it's sort of ridiculous how the events of a single planet which isn't even in the middle of nowhere, but rather at the side of nowhere, affect a whole dimention.
Then again, there's the Emperor...

>>50324142
Indeed, but I'm asking for a fictional circumstance, srry if I didn't specified it. Example, IRL trench warfare originated because advances in mobility didn't catch up with advances on firepower, which meant the defender held the advantage and the only way to advance was actually by outflanking or by forcing a difficult breakthrough. Essentially it was pike fighting all over except the metaphorical pikes were ranged and effective at hundreds of yards long.

So maybe infantry in the future is better armoured and can indeed get close, but then why would they be vulnerable to a short spear when a machinegun that shoots miniature rockets fails to keep them at range?
>>
>>50323990
Yes, I suppose Iron Warriors would work better. I'd have to paint hazard stripes, but I suppose it's only one model. Might have Scoria raising a claw towards the marine, but he's attached to a Triarch Stalker, not really in position to >>50324020

Now I need to figure out Scoria's weapons. Two Archaotech pistols, a Flamer, inferno pistol, photon thruster and the Vodian Sceptre is a bit hard to represent accurately.

Was going to have the Stalker's underslung Necron gun be replaced by a Kheres assault cannon, and have him holding a rad-cleanser and a bunch of mechadendrite arms.
Sceptre will be a Necron staff converted into a mace with a little greenstuff.

Humans are superfuel to the warp.
Eldar are like shitty russian diesel that's mostly a piece of dirt a cow once farted on. Slaanesh just has a hard-on for them in particular because they created it.
>>
>>50324212
Even non-psyker humans are psychic enough to make an imprint on the warp, but unlike the Eldar they don't have the control over the latent abilities.
>>
>>50324059
the video is obviously biased
heck it completly neglects to mention Suvorov or the general use of the bayonet at all. it just goes pikes > bayonet is invented > the Prussians didn't like the bayonet.
The bayonet in a gunfight is not a killing weapon , it's a terror weapon. since the earliest wars one side has collectively shit its pants and ran away from the other side.
if you keep taking potshots at an entrenched enemy you're not going to dislodge them. getting them out requires a charge. and this is where the bayonet comes in. It shows that the attackers are willing and prepared to fight hand to hand and quite often the defenders will realize they're outnumbered and turn run the fuck away.

on top of that the bayonet would still be usefull in 40k considering the amount of melee focused enemies mankind faces. it only fell into irrelevance in real life because armies stopped using cavalry charges
>>

Seriously anon, just stop. That way lies madness.

But to kind of answer your question, one of the major things space marines have going for them is the ability to run headlong into gunfire and make it to the enemy. The long-range pike concept doesn't really hold with these fuckers.

Yes indeed, the bayonet is a morale weapon, like yesterday someone in 40kg commented how he Sweep Advanced an ork squad with guardsmen and bayonets (I2 melee race), but in the Last Church Olathaire comments how the Emperor's Thunder warriors (I think) swept everybody with chainswords, and the DG/WE fluff talks about heavy knives and dedicated blades, while also mentioning marines going to town on the enemy using only their bare gauntlets.

>>
>>50324371
It's the entire setting dawg, Chaos goes mental for humans, they want those tasty snacks. Humans are evolving into a psychic race like Eldar but for whatever reason have brighter soulfires and have no innate understanding of psychic power, they're uncontrolled. Thus they will doom the galaxy unless the Emperor finds his way to avoid using the warp and to shield everyone until he can first train groups and ultimately guide that race evolution oh ooops the chaos gods manipulated Horus to stop that happening, time to feeeeeeed yadda yadda you know.

For real what kind of person becomes a Thallax? It doesn't matter, feelings are foreign to them after the removal of the emotion centers of the brain.

Alright lads, please r8 my list and provide as much constructive criticism as you can.

Raven Guard with Solar Aux allies, 2,499 points, Decapitation Strike RoW.

- Praetor w/Raven's Talons, digilasers, refractor field, meltabombs and a jump pack

- Apothecary w/ Jump pack

- 7 Mor Deythan all with combi-flamers in a Rhino with a multimelta

- 10 man Tac Squad w/CCW's, AA & MB on sergeant, also mounted in a Rhino with a multimelta

- 15 man assault squad, 3 poweraxes, AA & powerfist on sergeant

- 6 Dark Furies

- Fire Raptor Gunship, reaper autocannons and hellstrike missiles

Solar Aux allies
- Tank Commander in a Valdor Tank Hunter, selecting the Tank Hunter rule

- Veletaris Storm section in a Dracosan w/ Demolisher cannon and a flare shield

- 2 x Leman Russ Vanquishers w/ Lascannons

The idea is that the SA and Mor Deythan begin on the board, with the tanks hopefully cracking open any Spartans or occupying any superheavies my opponent will be fielding and the Mor Deythan rhino-rushing forward, disembarking and Fatal Striking some terrible unit to death on the first turn. The multimelta on their kamikaze taxi is there for any opportune targets.

The Praetor/Dark Fury squad and the assault squad deepstrike in in classic RG style and fuck up whatever infantry they find. The Tac squad outflanks mid-game to sit on an objective, again hoping to maybe bag a dread or something with the multimelta.

How do I get the best out of my Fire Raptor? Letting it start on the table and firing all the missiles at something, enabling the assault squads to get at the infantry in later turns? Or holding it in reserve and bringing it on to fuck shit up once my opponent has brought on a few of their reserves?

So I finished Master of Mankind.

The Imperials lose. The Mechanicum contingent (except the Titans) betray them and split off to find the Webway route to Mars. They all get killed in various hilarious ways.
The Sisters of Silence plug a thousand psykers from the Black Ships into the Golden Throne, giving it enough battery power for the Emperor to get off. He goes to rescue everyone that's retreating back to the palace
Turns out he can instantaneously teleport in combat, or at least do something that has the same effect. Literally dudes swinging swords at him and he's not there anymore and *teleports behind you* now his sword is in your back
He also has a super saiyan attack where he swings his sword and fire comes out in a wave, and in the fire are like, smoke-ghosts of the Imperial dead who form just long enough to fuck up the daemons and then dissipate. These smoke ghosts include Custodians, dreadnoughts and a certain dead primarch. It's more like a special effect to his fire attack than Aragorn's army of the dead, but it's pretty metal
So a thing happens that I'm putting in a separate spoiler and the Imperials all pull back to the palace. The Emperor, *very* regretfully, seals the gate. That's it, Imperial Webway is DONE. In a coda, the Emperor basically admits to a dude that his plan is capital F fucked and humanity is essentially doomed and there's nothing he or the Imperium can do except hold it off for as long as possible

okay so the next spoiler post will be the climax event of the book that you probably couldn't see coming exactly, so even if you've read the above I'd think twice about it if you want at least one surprise

So the Emperor was invading the normal webway and not creating a human webway? How was this plan ever going to work in the first place?

The Eldar wouldnt have stood around and let that happen. Dark Eldar especially.
>>
>>50325290
So this is the thing that you half see coming and half is a surprise that has some meaning for shit in 40K.
I think the rest of the plot of the entire book you could just guess very accurately in general terms, even the 'truth' behind the Emperor's actions, but the details are good and the book is well written, no purple prose, no shitty grammar. It's maybe a little more stilted than ADB's normal work, but that's because there's hardly anyone in the cast who can banter.

Anyway
Drach'nyen duels the Emp and wins, puts his claws right through him. Emp teleports away next to the Custodian Tribune who was the guy who learned all the Emp's secrets throughout the book.
Drach comes in for the finisher, forming into a familiar sword shape. The Emp somehow transfers the blow into the Custodian, but not as a wound, he essentially shunts Drach'nyen into the Custodian
For whatever reason - sheer willpower is mentioned but it's fairly obv the Emp has done something to the Custodian previously or they're all designed like it - Drach can't overpower and possess the dude like he has about a half dozen other people in the book. He's trapped within the Custodian.
The Emperor gives the Custodian "the last order he will ever receive: Run."
The Custodian takes off at a sprint into the mist of the Webway, all alone, Drach'nyen's jailer, as the Emperor sadly returns to the palace and ultimately shuts down the gateway

Apparently ADB's next Black Legion book will feature him getting Drach'nyen so...

The timing of Magnus' warning comes up again in this book:

The Custodians are talking about how they haven't heard anything from Aquillon when Magnus bursts through I can barely keep up on when or why BL keep changing this so dunno if that helps or hinders any previous info.

Land doesn't leave, he's baller incarnate. Dude rides around in a grav land raider with quad volkite cannons on a top ball turret and has a pet cyber monkey, he's basically Drebin from MGS

The Mechanicum in the webway leave, but there's still the ones on the surface. they have a plausible deniability for when they get bitched out about the betrayal (which does not happen in this book)

>>50325486
I don't know if it changed *again*, but in this book they tie it to Aquillon's messages no longer being received at the palace, he's the Custodian watching Lorgar, they start blocking him at some point in The First Heretic before Isstvan. Just some more info because people discuss the timing of the warning.

>>50325511
Blood Angel dude who is called Zephon, gets a jury-rig to his arms from Land and is able to fight in the last battle, where he pulls off a pivotal strike (he has a jump pack). He survives.

>>50325556
Like I say, it was more like a special effect than literally a ghost. Smoke-shadows form in the Emperor's attack and look like dead Imperial soldiers, who fall on the daemons and then dissipate as they all get melted by the fire. It's like three lines, no big deal.
>>
>>50325537
>Maybe it was one of those unused corridors?
For now. His plan was to use the webway for all human 'space' travel. Shit was going to get real busy real quick.
>>
>>50325448
The webway is complex as fuck, beyond even the understanding of the emperor. It was made by the Old Ones.

It's like asking a lone builder to replicate a skyscraper, he can probably add another door to the skyscraper with ease, but trying to build a whole new one is probably impossible for one guy.
>>
The issue is that Magnus was there when Horus had the warp vision on davin
So he then sends the warning
But between davin and istvaan is a certain number of years in which Horus creates the conditions to turn the other Primarchs etc
Yet at the same time we need to have russ coming back to get his orders to prospero and have Horus intercept and change them and also have the worldwide effects of Magnus breaking through
Outcast dead changed some of it with the idea of a massive psychic buffer that held the blast but then IT eventually burst through
>>
>>50325585
No I did not. Fuck.
Just save up, recasts are great for things you can hide, or can't be warped, but with things like weapons and jump packs you should get the real thing.
>>
>>50325613
The Burning of Prospero happens two years before Istvaan ergo the warning has to arrive before that. Russ also has to gather his legion and get to Prospero.

It doesn't mention that at all.

It also doesn't mention why The Emperor has to go back on the throne, which he does. He closes the gate and it just becomes a rock wall, there's talk about how they'll never open it again, then climbs back on the throne. Maybe to stop people breaking in? I dunno, good spot to that anon on a logic problem unexplained
>>
>>50325599
I dont disagree with you, but dont you see the problem with the Emperors master plan? He was going to have to fight for the webway as well. What Magnus did could have happened at any time during that war. The Webway isnt that hard to puncture with warp energy thus why Commaroagh is so anti psyker.

Besides the whole webway project is just a better Dolmen Gate as it doesnt seem to be rejected. But the Emps could have just taken one from a tomb world? That way the War in the Webway wouldnt be right ion Terras doorstep would it?

Im seeing a tonne of flaws here for a master plan.

true, maybe his plan was unite humanity in the galaxy, and then take the crusade into the webway (which would of been cool AS FUCK)

I suppose once they had control over a good portion of the webway, they wouldn't have to worry about parts of it getting broken open in a magnus-esque event, as they could just do what the eldar do and seal off that area of the webway.

maybe the webway was only weak to magnus' attack because they were only partway into opening it up to humanity? Maybe once the emperor was done with his work it would be more stable and resistant

Arkhan Land was a good character. He's still a semi-stilted Mechanicum mad scientist, but he also loves exploring and big guns. He talks back to people he shouldn't, he's annoyed it's the Land Raider instead of Land's Raider and he gened a monkey (an extinct creature in no recorded natural history books) and *insists* that not only is it meant to sound like that, but of course the tail is meant to be a stabbing limb that delivers venom and not a tool-limb used to hang from things.

Then you have too much on your brush and its blobbing.

>>50325857
How much paint are you getting on your brush at once? If you've got a big glob on your brush it's going to come out real THICC

Also you fell for the lahmian medium meme, just use water it's free. Maybe if it's still coming out thicc AF try watering it down until its pretty much just coloured water and apply thousands on layers until you get the coat you want. that's what I used to do when I was first starting and was struggling with paint consistency.

It's a god-awful small affair

But the Red King is yelling, "No!"
And her Emprah has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the holoscreen

But Prospero's a saddening bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
She could shoot in the eyes of fools
As she cancels their powers as...

Witches fighting in the main hall
Oh man!
Look at those wizards go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Wolfman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

It's on Sek-Amrak's tortured brow
Mortarion has grown up a cow
Now the astartes have struck for fame
'Cause we go make war again
See the army in their million hordes
From Ibizium to the Norfolk Broads
Ruling Terra is out of bounds
To my sergeant, my dog, and town

But Prospero's a saddening bore
'Cause I fought it ten times or more
It's about to be fought again

We passed upon the warp
Spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise
I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone
Murdered by Guilliman

"Oh no, NOT ME
I never lost that duel
You're face to face
With Alpharius Omegon"

I laughed and shook his hand
And made my way back home
I searched for farming land
For years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazer stare
We marked a million hills
I must have died alone
A long long time ago

Who knows?
Not me
I never lost control
You're face, to face

With Russ now making it back to Terra whilst the Emperor is alive why wasnt Russ chastasized for destroying Prospero and all the TS fief worlds when he got back to Terra?

His orders from them Emperor said nothing of the sort and he knew he took orders from Horus who had gone traitor at that point. So why did he get a pass for this?

Horus, unless this has been retconned Russ comes back to Terra in one of BL books and Dorn asks him to stay, he refuses saying he's a hunter and his legion wont sit on his ass in Terra when he could be bringing the war to Horus. Russ being Russ that fails and Terra is left with one less legion.

Fucking Russ.

Prospero + Alaxxes took a shitload of wolves out
>>
>>50326698
Prospero, Allaxes, and the trip though the ruinstorm back to Terra really fucked them over, and they weren't a huge legion anyway I think.

They can only have 2000 marines at most by the end of the scouring, as they only form two chapters when the codex astartes is introduced

Because Russ got orders from the Emperor then listened to his underling instead? From the guy he was just warned was a traitor by Magnus. This is the whole reason he was going out to get him anyway so Emps could figure out what was going on.

>>50326741
>Like I said thats what everyone is expecting but it wasnt confirmed.

He goes on to fight the traitors, doesnt matter if its Horus or not, its Russ' idea for the Knights-Errant to do that assault on the vengeful spirit. The point is Russ is a failure who left Terra with one less legion so he could wage a war on the traitors and instead of actually helping he got his legion even more wrecked.

>>50326786
>thousand sons have around 10,000 marines and the wolves are mentioned as being barely larger

By Inferno they'll probably be 100,000 marines in each legion, ATS was made before FW HH and that added another zero in legion numbers plus the smallest legion according to FW is Raven Guard at 80,000 men so its not that much of a stretch for the other two "small" legions to be barely bigger than RG.
>>
>>50326776
>but going by ATS thousand sons have around 10,000 marines and the wolves are mentioned as being barely larger
This has been retconned. Bump everything up by a factor of ten.

Also I dont have conformation but the 10,000 now only refers to the TS on Prospero at the time of the Burning.
>>
>>50326812
I wonder how many the Raven Guard were previous to Gate 42. I mean, the ones that have a geneseed problem are the TS and SW.
>>
>>50326786

It literally wasnt though. How are you so triggered by this. It was left open to sell the next book. It mostly likely will be Horus but it ''''''could''''' be someone else.

by the time they reach the planet of sorcerers there's only 1242 1ksons left. (1+2+4+2=9=spoopy)

Just read the Ahriman series, and I think it said somewhere in there there was even less by the time they enacted the rubric, like they were reaching the point of dropping below 1000 marines.

Also I think they can do mini-rubrics to make new rubricae and return the souls of killed rubricae back to their armour, so I think by 40k they've probably replenished they're numbers a bit.
>>
>>50326812

According to Battle Bunnies, they are going to have around 50,000 in the upcoming Inferno book.

Thousand Sons had no gene-seed problems after being reunited with Magnus.

Can't find it from BattleBunnies now that I'm looking, but here's a quote from someone else who went to the 2016 event.

"I believe there's only 50,000 Thousand Sons Astartes at the time of the Prospero razing. In contrast, there's supposedly 81,000 Space Wolves. I believe these were numbers mentioned at the last event. "
>>
>>50327065
If Inferno tells us the Flesh Change had reduced the XVth to 10 000 - 1000 marines before Magnus' arrival, and then there were 50 000 on Prospero (not counting the Corvidae) who got reduced to 1242 by the attack of 81 000 wolves, those are numbers I'd agree with.

When did the Gate thing happen? Before or after Prospero? Did the thousands sons suffer at Ullanor?
>>
>>50327065
This seems to have a good justification why most TS would be off Prospero.
>Also, as of the reprint of A Thousand Sons into its hardcover format, the numbers of the Sons at Prospero have been revised. Only ten thousand were there, while the majority of the Legion was either part of the scattered defense fleet or still actively participating in the Great Crusade to prevent the Thousand Sons for being censured in the same manner the Word Bearers were while they sat at Prospero for an entire year before Magnus blew up the Emperor's wards under the Palace.

Does anyone have the Hardcover too check? I expect not as none of us ever seem to buy anything but may as well check.

Think of it this way.

You have two stones, one is a skipping stone, polished, disc shaped, flat.

The other is jagged, coarse, soft compacted dirt and gravel.

Try to skip with both.

The carefully chosen, orderly shape of the former will skip across the water and complete your objective with minimal disturbance to the water.

The latter will have an uncontrolled descent, plummet into the water with a tremendous splash, fail to do anything and greatly disturb the water.

Eldar minds are measured, controlled, orderly and highly disciplined. Their psychic power is surgical.

Human minds universally have psychic and have no control over them. Disorderly, undisciplined, chaotic.

Chaos feeds on Chaos. Among the Eldar with psychic power, there is very little of it. Among humanity, there is always chaos. Just look at the different ways humans and eldar live. One has a post scarcity society that's devoid of labour of all kinds. The other is entirely focused on slavery and serfdom existing solely to fund a warmachine.
