This thing really went to hell when it went from a webcomic to a light novel with a picture every once in a blue moon.

And the worse thing about this is that the story now includes so many layers of inside baseball that are ONLY explained in the boring light novel parts that it's impossible to fully grok most of the comic portions.

Oh, you wanted to be a completionist? you wanted to even UNDERSTAND THE PLOT OF THE ANIME? You gotta read the manga, BUT WAIT! To fully understand the manga, you gotta read THE SUPPLEMENTARY LIGHT NOVELS!

Truth to be told, most of the anime/manga, if it's cut much and in a bad way making the plot a pile of random shit, rarely gets lasting recognition. It's a bit different if lots of content is cut but what's left is relatively coherent - but if it's not, then weeaboos can sink the show after one season.
