>>50304861
I've been out of the loop for a while now.
What the fuck is a Tzaangor when it's at home?
>>
>>50305308
what?
>>
>>50305308
A tzaangor was originally a tzeetch aligned bestigor, native of old world.
I guess they took a warp boat and illegally entered the 40k universe.
>>
>>50305308
Oh, that's good kek

>>50305322
>Simpleton detected
The name is given to them by outsiders of the race. Similar to how the Spanish speaking countries refer to Germany as Alemania.
>>
>>50305351
Actually, they date back to earlier editions when Beastmen where more common, and were stated as being the natives of the Planet of Sorcerers. There is fluff on them in Realm of Chaos: Lost and the Damned.
>>
>>50305483
Cannot wait for half eldar ultramarine astropaths.
>>
>>50305376
or english speaking countries refer to germany as germany although germans themselves don't
>>
>>50304861
Are they already colored?
>no you have to paint them yourself
This is why I just read the books and ignore the actual boardgame
>>
>>50305483

It's true. It seems to be a consistent pattern. First CSM get their cultists back, then we get proper Genestealer Cultists, and now we have Beastmen back in 40k.

With the success of the HH series, and all it's recycling/updating of old designs, it looks like GW is looking way back to all the neat stuff they used to have and is bringing it back with their new sculpting ability.

I mean, these Tzaangors are 40k exclusive, as they carry pistols and chainswords, which are absent on their AoS counterparts. So, yes, Beastmen may well be making a return as minions of Chaos. Here's wondering what the rumored Sisters release will bring back from the old days. And, of course, here's hoping they start making some Inquisitor character sprues and henchmen boxes, because those are in desperate need of an update.
>>
>>50305609

Then why even bother posting?
>>
>>50305609
>This is why I just read the books and ignore the actual boardgame
You also play the video games and/or RPGs right? I mean, no one can actually like 40k if they're exclusively exposed to BL shit right?
>>
>>50305518
Yeah, but why do they want to call themselves Doucheland?
>>

Sisters never actually lost anything. Their army is as undeveloped as it was back then.
>>
>>50306016

Huh, weird. Looks like he was just an astropath rather than a full-blooded marine, and worked with the Dark Angels before settling in Macragge under the Ultramarines. But he's dressed in the armor. Was this back when space marines were just authoritarian policing forces in power armor instead of warrior monks?
>>
>>50304920
I was already mixing my own custom blue from Vallejo Imperial, Magic and Electric Blue and this looks quite close to it.
>>
>>50306159
Yeah this is Rogue Trader era stuff.
>>
>>50306159
Yeah, they were more like IRL marines than what they are now.
>>
>>50306159
>>50306603
>>50306617
They were always warrior monks you plebs.
>>
>>50306762

Warrior monks that used to write "LICK THIS" on their greaves, were recruited from penal colonies, and spent as much time rustling up gangers as they did fighting aliens.
>>
>>50304861
Holy shit, Tzaangors? Now that's a blast from the past, Lost and the Damned edition.
>>
>>50304861
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck yoooooooouuuuu.
>>
>>50306777
Stop with the bullshit, they recruited the exact same as how they do now.
They had the same jobs as they do now.
They customised their armour as they do now.

The core of Space Marines is essentially unchanged from Rogue Trader.

Beastmen differ from the likes of Illiyan Nastase, Cha Lee, and Tow Takka-chow though in that they never actually left 40k, they just became fluff-only and (even more) minor. But they've still always been there, as Imperial abhumans and daemon world inhabitants/Black Crusade participants.

>>50306037
There's Frateris Militia, and some special characters, also Missionaries as a separate unit if you really want to count them. Otherwise, yeah, they've actually grown from their original codex in terms of unit choice. But Frateris would fit perfectly with the theme >>50305677 described, and out of the lost units, I imagine they're the only one GW might consider worth resurrecting anyway.

Man Hrud or Tarellians would be a fun thing for a new Xenos faciton, or even sub faction. That Psy-Gore crystal gun thing might be cool too if its for some weird crystal race, like the Tholians from star trek or the shard from Vor: The Malestrom

That's a pretty big difference.

Only in the same way they are humans now.
They were augmented mentally and physically even then.
>>
>>50308478
The Hrud at least have a basis for being included in the lore. There are many situations where a planet has been recorded as lost due to 'Hrud migrations' which apparently are fucking massive, enough that even a space marine homeworld couldn't withstand them.

>His armor actually conveys his facial expressions
You're reaching.
>>
>>50308929
You'd think he'd be looking at what he's doing, not gazing off into the middle distance, surely?
>>
>>50308478
It's hard to come up with a original concept for how the Hrud would fight as a xenos faction, especially since Hrud in fiction are described as fighting with massive numbers (orks do that) and using a mixture of primitive (by 40k standards) and scavenged weapons (again, orks do that). They are also described as being able to "accelerate entropy" and cause sudden aging to effect objects near them, and have an innate distortion field that makes them nearly invisible, even in well lit rooms.

So: Concept: maybe instead of being a "mass numbers - crap weapons" army, they are a "Mass numbers, force debuffs" army. Like if they could force enemies to take -1 to their melee or ballistic skill.

Aren't they the skaven equivalent in spaaace?

>aside from the official 40k vermin, aka tyranids
>>

I came up with a possible explanation that could make it compatible with the current lore, those aren't mutations but rather the sorcerers actively modifying themselves with Biomancy.

I promised myself I won't start any other 40k army and focus on skirmishes, but mang, T-Sons were my 1st love in miniatures.
3 years ago, clerk at GW convinced me that starting with them would be pain in ass, since it would require tons on conversions, to pull out full themed army. I wen't with orks for kek factor and having really good time with them, but it's time!
I'm really glad that I had time to learn about paiting, so I can empty my wallet and they won't be ugly as 1st models.

no

no

I will not get hyped

I was optimistic for KDK and that was a cash grab. I was reserved about reprints of Crimson Slaughter and Black Legion and they gave us formations that were half assed and reused detachments. I was pessimistic about Traitors Hate and that added the decurion we should have gotten in BL and CS and different formations that made no reference to the previous two codex suppliments.

All we will get in this is weapon options for the 23pt Thousand Sons so they can be more expensive with 5pt a model for AP3 flamers to go with AP3 bolters and 15 for S3AP3 Rotor cannons. The Rubric Termies will be 50pt 1w models with Tartaros rules but slow and purposeful from Rubric to make them all completely useless Cataphacti Termi equivolent.

Ahriman will be Ahriman on a disk.
The sorcerer ascendant will just be ML3 Sorcerers with 2 boons you have to pay for.

Why should I get hype? CSM is suffering and GW isn't changing overnight to make them playable.

The worst part is I'm probably getting 2 boxes of the Rubric Termis to go with 8 squads of Rubrics so I can finish my fucking apocalypse force of 4k points of 1w infantry.

RT era space marines were definitely warrior monks, and the whole LICK THIS thing was from a picture of renegade SM living in the Eye of Terror.

The main distinction? At the time, regular SM were T3, while heroes of various sorts got boosted S and T stats to various degrees. So while sure, Not!Spock was an astropath in power armor, he was certainly badass enough to go toe to toe with any SM.

Doubtful. The Rubric effected all TS marines on Prospero, so if the flesh change was solved by the rubric the geneseed would be too.

I'm guessing however TS only recruit from psychically gifted individuals.

>>50315389

>>
>>50309690
Traditionally rubrics have been 2w marines, quite cheap for that too. Now they have psyker captains. 'till we know points it's impossible to say but I'd hold out for it being a pretty decent army. Dependent on Tzeentch not being pure shit as a lore anyway.
>>
>>50315847
Hm, I don't think they can edit rubrics at all. So the modern, shitty kind of rubrics will be what we get. The only way for them to change rubrics would be to release a new CSM codex first.

Once rubrics are listed in two places at once, then it will become 100% impossible to EVER update them unless both sources are updated simultaneously. The fucking horrible rubrics will be frozen in amber for all eternity.
>>
>>50315901
Certain models have variant rules depending on the codex you're fielding them under, though, just look at daemonkin. If the rubrics themselves don't change, there'll be a bunch of special rules for the codex to beef them up a bit for sure, not to mention formations.
>>
>>50310018
>Can't afford

>>
>>50315901
Genestealers have different rules depending on the codex, so did Harlequins until they were removed from the Main Eldar codexes, even Dreadnoughts had different rules from codex to codex for a while. All they have to do is release an errata saying that C:CSM Rubrics now have the same rules as the ones in Codex: Thousand Sons or whatever it'll be called.

Before daemonic ascension.

Magnus was a huge, red cyclops. Straight up monster, only accepted because the sorcerers of prospero were all outcast freaks, and only recognized by the imperium because the Emperor himself found him.

later retcons made all primarchs huge and gave magnus a human visage, so that bit of fluff is a bit less relevant to people who are just entering 40k/30k

So between this and the other picture it looks like at least 6 types of heads, multiple arm choices, and the robes tassels look slightly different.

I'm still not really a fan of that Magnus model. Hopefully non-GW painters will make it looks better; for some reason GW has been making their models look worse than they are with odd paintjobs for some reason.
>>
>>50319897
I think 'Eavy Metal was told to dial back on the painting to make the models look more accessible to new and bad painters
>>
>>50320267
In magnus' case it's not the painting itself that's the problem, just the photography and colour choices.

Magenta, teal and white gold don't look great together to begin with, and it only gets worse with their methods of lighting and photo-editing. Compare him to Ahriman, who roughly has the same palette, but swaps the white gold for bronze.

I'd wager a magnus with the standard crimson skin/golden armour would look quite a bit better. (though, to be honest his model is gaudy, ugly, and about three times as big as it needs to be)

I believe the Psy-Gore gun is actually a neuro disruptor - at least, it looks almost identical to the Rogue Trader illustration of one. Now the disruptor is a Harlequin toy, with the holdy end redesigned to resemble other Eldar guns but otherwise keeping the same crystal pistol appearance.

There's another minor alien race, the Dracolith, that are in fact described as crystalline. According to the 5th edition rulebook, they're also apparently organised into a church:

>A threat growing in strength is that of the rapidly rising younger races. Worlds that once trembled before Imperial wrath are casting off their shackles and looking to carve their own empires among the stars. The Draxian Hegemony, the Tau Empire, the Worldweave of the Noisome Reek, the Uluméathic League, the Church of Dracolith – the list goes on. Individually these upstarts cannot hope to challenge humanity’s dominance, but if their encroachments are taken as a whole then their containment promises to drain valuable military resources.
>>
So we can reliably think this will be up for preorders on the 26th ?
I don't like the idea, but I might get a limited edition of the book if there's one.
[spoilers]And I will totally get the dices.[/spoiler]

I assume the Terminators and Magnus himself are going to be good at melee.

But if you play Thousand Sons you're playing psykers + bolter drills, it's their style.

Just await Duncan's guidance and all will be made clear to you
>>
>>50328426

you are forgetting the part where ahriman goes back to Sortiarius to redo the rubric and he succeeds despite being in the middle of a big fuck off magic war, and in a separate space battle fucks over the space wolves, grey knights and traitor elements in his own army along with a whole chapter of space marines whilst stealing a direct link to Magnus from an inquisitor vault

one of his plans was genocide a planet, ditch a rubric army there wait a few years and come back in the middle of an inquisitor conclave to kidnap an inquisitor (just as planned)
>>
>>50328766
> to redo the rubric and he succeeds
explain.
>>
>>50328778
He manages to cure one Rubric Marine

The whole Rubric was a plan is a Just as Planned by Tzeentch and one of Magnus's shards. The second Rubric wasn't really meant to cure the Thousand Sons. It meant to unite the shards of Magnus. This was unknown to Ahriman who cast it. Despite the most Thousand Sons remaining Rubrics, he managed to cure one which gave him the hope needed to continue his quest
>>
>>50329231
At what date is this happening in the timeline?
>>
>>50329239
No date was given. But we can guess a bit.

Considering that Khayon was wearing the Black when he joined up with Ahriman to help him in invading the Planet of Sorcerers and that he told Ahriman he is here on behave of Abaddon as payment for a future deed Ahriman will do for the Black Legion. This makes the event take place after the 1st Black Crusade and before the 13th Black Crusade.

>How does battle of the fang fit into this then?

One of the shards of Magnus was asked about his sharding. He said that he was broken into shards after an event that he wishes not to talk about. Nobody knew that Magnus was broken up except the shards and Tzeentch. The Shards plotted against each other all this time until the second Rubric united them.

My guess is the Magnus in the Battle of the Fang was probably just a shard of Magnus. The wrath shard.

However, the winged Magnus that will appear in Curse of the Wulfen part 2, is the whole Magnus in all his glory.

From John French.

Sounds like on of them needs a retcon to me.

>So as far as Battle of the Fang goes it happens at roughly the same time as Exile... ish... from a certain point of view

So it confirms that Magnus in Battle of the Fang is shard.

Exile is book one of the Ahriman series. Ahriman Unchanged is the last book where the second Rubric happens.

How much does it cost to get started on wh40k?
>>
>>50332247
1 arm, 1 leg
depends kinda on what army you want to play and how much are you willing to spend. Do you want to play a space marine faction? Grab a starter box like dark vengeance, you get a rulebook, models and dice. Do you want to play a different army? Get one of the "get started" boxes, grab a rulebook on ebay. If you want to paint, can of primer, 2-3 brushes and a couple of paints. So, like 100-120 $ I would assume.
