There's tons of cool stuff in that booknamely most of the stuff in the kitsune sectiondon't get me wrong. But Paizo has managed to take the one thing I really, really, REALLY WANTED and fuck it up. They fucked it up twice over by ALSO putting it on a race that gets a penalty towards the class's casting modifier, and I assume that it's locked to that race.
>man I sure wish I could get a Cha-quisitor with Oracle mysteries so I could be strength focused
>we got you senpai, here's a racial archetype for a class with a wisdom penalty and a dex bonus that could do that
>well that's not too ba-

How would you calculate the CR of an organization? Any thoughts on this?
>>50267700
I almost certainly wouldn't. Why are you trying to do that, anyway?
>>50267742
To give players the ability to use knowledge history/local/nobility to gauge the power of a group.
>>50267831
why do you need CR for that
I was wondering if one of the DSP guys or the knowledgeable 'shills' around here could explain to me how the fourth is not valid.
It's just like the third one, except aimed off to the side which is valid, as described in the text box.
>>50267831
...you're doing it wrong. Especially since the more influential a group is, the easier knowledge checks relating to it should be.
>>50267443

>>50264528
Is Depilate the ultimate anti-kitsune spell?
>>50267878
yeah, that'd be the one.
>>50267553
Huh.
Damn, and I kind of liked the PFS concept.
Fuck 'em, I guess?
>>50267875
Yes the CR is not for the knowledge check I'm using a system based on membership to determine the check. I'm just thinking what the CR of an organization with a diverse set of levels should be.
>>50267831
CR is for encounters. Making it irrelevant unless you're describing it as if you fight every member at the same time. Or does CR handle many-many member fights very well.
Let's take the FBI. The FBI doesn't fight as an entire organization, it has small teams, and a lot of desk jockies.
If you were to describe the power of any organization, country, you describe what they have control/jurisdiction over, personnel/budget, previous examples of control, and what people think of them. Not really a number that gets less and less accurate or meaningful the higher it goes.

I have a little access to race builder for my next character, and I'm debating whether flight is really worthwhile or if I should take advanced climber (+16 racial bonus on climb checks) for a Fool's Errand warlord when I'm just a couple levels from Lesson IV: The Ladder
Sorry to bother, quick question.
I'm making a natural attack CAGM Barbarian, and I'm wondering if I can use my highest natural attack each time, or am I supposed to use a different one for each person?
>>50268208
The horror realm in the Linnorm Kingdoms is known as Kalva, it's a dreary island off the coast of Icemark home to white-haired, gigantic (often growing to 7 feet) Ulfen cannibals that partake in a native Mindslaver mold that gradually causes them to lose their minds and have eye-stalks sprout outta their faces.
I think it's a case of nature versus nurture though, soif you wanted to be a super-huge Ulfen with platinum-blonde hair you could use that as inspiration.

Well, the Come and Get Me AoO is functionally identical to a regular AoO, so yes, you should be using your normal BAB, rather than a derivative.
Once again asking for advice on how I'd play a paladin of Melek Taus. There isn't much on her besides that she's Lawful Good, lived in a bitchin' castle, and has disappeared.I mean I suppose I could just splice it with stuff from Yazidism, but...

I think it's safe to say this is more of the problem with /pfg/ in general. There was a supplement that JUST came out that explicitly describes a Kitsune's "true form" as a "fox-faced" creature, but everyone here who wants to play one goes for the kawaii uguu~ weeb tropes of a little girl cosplaying a kemonomimivan or something.
I see a lot more variety with public PF groups, especially those in the LGS, and even those who play something like Kitsune base themselves off of something like Fantastic Mr. Fox before whatever monstergirl anime is the current FOTM. Racial balance definitely does play into things a bit, but some people are just tired with Tolkien stereotypes.

The vast majority of male applications aren't lewd, anon.
Which is kind of the point, methinks; the only reason the women come across as lewd is because they've got the T and A we all want, but behind the bust is a backstory we just sorta brush over.

For what purpose?
Yo all, KOP 4 is in the publisher's hands now, so it should be coming out in a week or so.
We were getting pretty unhappy feedback about the twice born repenter, so it's been replaced with the kinetic lancer, which is basically a dragoon style lancer that can jump incredible heights, impale foes with a lance made of fire, and basically be the baddest bastard in the room. There's a few other tweaks too, but as a whole, I'm feeling pretty good about this book.

Is it bad form to keep some maneuvers and options open until the DM gives you the final party comp? It might seem like I'm trying to chat the system or like I couldn't finish my character sheet or something. I want to make sure I have some fun combination attacks/spells with the other players so that I can make everyone do better.
>>50270392
It specifies in Special: that you can ignore the prereqs for Defiant luck or any feat that has it as a prereq
>>50270286
>>50270395
Sneak attacks are just riders that get attached to normal attacks that meet specific criteria (opponent is flat-footed, OR opponent is flanked, OR etc.) so that way it WOULD in fact stack with a spellstrike. I didn't want to lean on sneak attack dice, because the character's gimmick wastrying to be a heroic, good individual. He also was not supposed to be a kitsune in the first place, but sometimes mechanics give you ideas for stuff.I may have to rethink class choices just in case, though, since Weapon Champion is a bit out there.
>>50270395

>>50270747
What's an Ameiko? I'm walking into this campaign blind as my character.
In a campaign, party is level 1, and I'm a Paladin. We already played our first session which got the ball rolling and next session is this Friday. The rest of my party is pretty squishy, especially since I managed to get 20 strength and a greatsword.
What are some good ways to keep enemies focused on me in combat, or is it just up to the DM to have them decide whether the big scary guy should be a priority or not, and also what are some roles I can provide outside of combat? My character is very theistic, to the point that he doesn't follow regular traditions on dealing with mortal authority, but I don't want to end up playing a Lawful Stupid character.
>>50270750
No yeah, I don't want to ERP during the game, but I want my ERP to be canon within the setting, after the game y'know,1 on 1 having "during that downtime" moments with the GM

Except you have the completely wasted and unresolved stories of Aldern, and the going-nowhere fight with Nualia that makes no sense going forward (because she's not part of a larger organization and even if she was it wouldn't make sense for them to follow you).
Dragon's Demand is much better because:
>It's got cooler shit to see and do
>You get a hot Shae companion
>It comes pre-packaged with a Green Dragon that you can have chase the party as they ride away from Sandpoint, and be an actual threatening ongoing enemy.
It takes a little bit of writing to tie them together, but the end result is much, much better.

What? Aldern in Burnt Offerings is just a kinda quirky nobleman, and Nualia's plot beginning and ending in Book 1 is a good thing because it keeps the story self-contained.
>>50271051
Now that the thread is ded, would having Ameikio look like exactly like someone the PC knew once be too cliched?Someone that the PC messed up with and who's smile he couldn't protect?
>>50271114
Yes
>>50271089
>Aldern in Burnt Offerings is just a kinda quirky nobleman,
Except he's fucking not. When you meet him in Burnt Offerings, he's in Sandpointliterally a day or two after fleeing from his haunted mansion where he fucking murdered his wife and spiraled into a massive drug addiction and went broke. He was sent there to get shit from his dad's corpse, and ran away.
Except, they don't tell you this in Burnt Offerings. They only tell you this at the beginning of the second book. Which is why whenever I see someone talk about Aldern like a "quirky nobleman", it means they haven't read the books and they're probably a shit DM because of it.
>and Nualia's plot beginning and ending in Book 1 is a good thing because it keeps the story self-contained.
That's kind of the point. It's not a good story, and it's NOT self-contained because it's designed to open very specific questions about the who, what, and why of the place Nualia is encountered in. She's just the initial draw, the real reason her fight is there is to foreshadow and give hints to the Runelords.
Which, if you're not going to ever use, is just bad storytelling.

have dmed 5e for 7 months or so, would buying the starter pack for PF be agood way to learn the game?
>>50271141
But aldern can be a quirky nobleman, and honestly i think he's better presented to the players that way because it makes his reveal as being the skinsaw man all the more shocking.
>>50271130
Yes as in to cliched or yes as in yes do it.
>>50271149
don't fucking buy the core rulebook

>>50271059
If I just absolutely HAD to merge Burnt Offerings and the rest of Jade Reagent, I'd just drop the Runelord stuff.
Goblin attack was a gambit by Tsuto to distract his father so her could steal the letter about Brinewall.
>>50271172
Yes as in cliched.
>>50271185
Rip. Back to the drawing board.
>>50271185
>Goblin attack was a gambit by Tsuto to distract his father so her could steal the letter about Brinewall.
Anyway, he kidnaps Ameiko because he needs her to do plot stuff related to the seals. PC's go to rescue her, then head to Brinewall to collect the seals.
>>50271203
That doesnt mean don't do it anon.
>>50271168
>But aldern can be a quirky nobleman,
But why? The story works much better if you replace Aldern with Sandru at the beginning, and then remove the boar hunt (because it's a shitty padding encounter only designed to fill XP tracks) since it adds nothing to the story, and it both sets up Sandru for later while trimming fat on a worthless character who you're not going to do anything with.
>because it makes his reveal as being the skinsaw man all the more shocking.
Yeah, shocking because when the players learn what supposedly happened to Aldern literally the week they met him, they are gonna be like "Wait what? The guy we met was clearly not a broke drug-addict who's hiding from an assassin cult and recently strangled his own wife", because he's clearly not that.
You want to do it well? Actually incorporate those things into how you play him at the initial meeting. Make him weird and quirky because he's intentionally evasive and vague, trying to mask his grief. THAT will be a good NPC.
And let's not even talk about how badly Skinsaw Murders needs to have a chainsaw taken to it so it can be Frankenstein'd back together into something coherent.

I know about that thanks, but i think sooner or later i will have to if i start dming, because it happened with D&D as well, i can't focus on digital media for the life of me, with the books is whole different feeling. I mean i've seen the ammount of books in the shops, i will probably try it a year from now. I just spent 120€ on D&D so yeh that's not happening now. Thanks anyway
>>50271238
You're sending me mixed messages anon. I want to play it, especially because it plays really well into what I already had for my background.
>>50271268
fucking steal the pdfs and print out relevant pages.
>>50271271
If you wanna play it, play it. Just have fun doing it or it'll seem tacky
>>50271271
I'm not that guy, I say don't do it.
Unless you're character is supposed to be a selfish asshole, "I'm going to use you as my second chance because you conveniently resemble my former X" is really goddamn cheesy. Like bad lifetime movie cheesy.
>>50271185
>Goblin attack was a gambit by Tsuto to distract his father so her could steal the letter about Brinewall.
But that's why Dragon's Demand works so well.
>You can keep the "Tsuto is doing it for a woman he loves" thing by changing Nualia to a Swamp Witch or something similar who'd serve a Green Dragon
>The Sandpoint attack was a distraction so the Dragon's minions (goblins or kobolds, take your pick) can steal the Book from the Wizard
>The party gets ahold of the Book, this makes them the target/enemy of the Dragon
>You can have the PCs go to a Fort+Cave to fight the Woman and the Goblin tribe she enthralled, basically exactly like Thistletop.
>The auction is a perfect setup for Ameiko to start wanting to sell and move out.
>You can segue perfectly into Brinewall Legacy by having Goblins attack the merchants on the road.
It's got everything; Cool events and villains, plenty of time for relationship development, and high stakes that continue into the campaign.
Plus, you get to hand the players theSecrets of the Dreaming Darkwhich is written up in Occult Adventures. It's a good package.
>>50271309
I know you have to go 100% with things like that. I think that's the rule with most things though.
>>50271315
I'm not even saying it in a lewd or loving way. I was thinking it's more just someone they failed to protect and that kinda haunts them. Less anime waifu bait and more vietnam veteran.
>>50268401
Ink eyes has: A ratfolk tailblade (i'd personally give it the statblock of kobold razored tail), a non-fucked kusari-gama (I'd give it a 1d8/1d6 slashing stablock) and some form of sword, probably one of the 18-20/x2 ones.
I'd say her two hand-weapons are both treated as some form of temple-sword, and her blade-attachments for weapon & tail are both treated as roughly the same thing.
>>50271354
Could be an interesting hook, I suppose.
Elaborate on exactly what happened.
>>50271515I'll be giving away who I am but I doubt the GM reads all the threads so he won't know about my bad initial thoughts for my characters. I was thinking about tieing it into the attack on the monastery where my character grew up. Same attack that gave him the lame curse and that caused him to set out on a pilgrimage to figure out his faith and how even with powerful gods in the world evil still exists. I was thinking it would fit in well with the whole new cathedral reason for PCs to be in town in the RotRL plot hook.
>>50271658
Tie it all together with an outward appearance of the wandering monk who's on a search for enlightenment, even if they aren't the brightest. A bit of a past that they don't like to talk about, and a rather jovial nature.
Thank you for the attempts to cheer me up last thread. They helped a bit!
>>50272007
Thank you anon for staying happy!
>>50272074
Adam Sandler poster, you make me happy in particular!
