Piloted one guy's BUR EDH deck when I'd just learned the format, Bolas commanding. personally I run a mix of infect, superfriends, and +1/+1 counter tribal while its not very specific or reliable I can usually pull off a combination of the three and proliferate poison counters if shit gets hairy, however be prepared to get a target painted on you early as atraxa screams focus me first to most people.

Superfriends is something that seems like it's going to be fun, because it's a bunch of unique, strong cards, but it's deceptively repetitive and takes blue-tier length turns.

There are 3 people in my playgroup that have superfriends decks and I only see one of the superfriends decks actually played maybe once every two months. Makes me think everyone that has one doesn't like it.

They're also about as middle-tier as it gets.

My artifact deck has a bit of a tapping theme to it, but Voltaic Key, Clock of Omens, Unwinding Clock, and Lux Cannon are decent cards in their own right

Yo! Ima scrub and have 4 edited precons but want to build my own deck from scratch. What are the proper deck proportions? I know it is highly variable from deck to deck but in general what should i have as far as number of lands/creatures/artifacts/enchanments/instans/sorceries?

I see on here usually 33- 42 lands with 10 pieces of ramp and 10 pieces of card draw. which leaves only 46 to 37 cards to play with.

I'm trying to do Queen Marchesa Tokens/Pillowfort. I'm working on the land base right now but it seems kinda greedy.

Tough call, you've got a lot of good value cards. Possibly Stoneforge Mystic because you only have a few tutor targets, Sphinx of the Steel Wind because you don't need that many beaters, and Sphinx's Revelation because it looks like you're already drowning in card advantage. The Ashnod's Altar also looks a little suspect to me, like the Ironworks is just strictly better.

More likely, though, you'll want to replace a couple of your rocks or baubles. Just play out the deck a few times and see what happens. You have a good base.

Messing around with my Nahiri deck since it has a weird curve when it gets to 5-7 CMC range with five 5cmc cards and seven 6cmc cards and tops out with one Elesh Norn.

Trying to put Martial Coup in and that could introduce a second potential 7cmc in replace for one 6cmc card to even things out.

Angel of Dire Hour might be fun to put back in

My question is what's everyone's experience with pic related in the 99? As of now I only run 11 keyword cards that can enable him to proc an ability for combat, 1 for indestructible, 1 for doublestrike, 1 for shroud, 2 for haste, 2 for flying, 1 for first strike, 2 trample, and a whopping 6 for vigilance and not counting other global vigilance effects in the deck. It feels like it could work introducing huge combat blowouts but then he also feels like a weaker Angelic Skirmisher.

Seems pretty greedy but if your meta plays no Ruination or Wave of Vitriol, then why not. I'd always play 10-12 basics just in case. In non-green you're pretty much obliged to play around 38 lands if you want to consistently draw into them. Signets are key to fix colors. Add Ash Barrens. Karoos are cool for budget, but are hella slow. Be sure to include Expedition Map and the likes to find your utility lands.

I've had Odric 2.0 singlehandedly win me games. I play a Kemba Voltron with as much Indesc. and Hexproof as I can find. Once you find your Warhammer or Grappling Hook it's basically over. Great secondary equip target if your general gets killed a lot.

The deck was perfect -cardwise-, all the stuff you could want for a superfriends deck.

Most boring deck I have ever fucking played. Took it apart and traded away every single planeswalker.

I built Atraxa superfriends.

Except it's not really superfriends it's just a control deck with 10 or so planeswalkers. I always end up with at least two planeswalkers on the field at a time and Atraxa just helps lead to some interesting board states like being able to constantly minus a Jace to bounce an ewit for time warp.

So I've been trying to build a hatebears deck for EDH for a while. I started with Anafenza but with the 4 color decks I've since moved to Saskia (the red isn't super valuable but she hits hard and you get access to Ruric Thar, Sunforger, and a couple other hatebears/utility). However I've found the archetype always struggling. I'm packing the big shutouts in EDH (Torpor Orb, Hushwing Gryff, Gaddock Teeg) and a bunch of taxers and other hate but eventually something slips through the hate and tanks your board.

How do you build hatebears? Anyone have a good list or strategy?

Infect plays a different game than everybody else. Imagine if getting 20 energy counters made you win the game, and only one card hosed energy counters. There is simply not enough interactions that stop infect, and loads of cards that support it.

Its not a question of win rates, obviously there are better decks than infect. Infect however plays a different game. Its really not hard in green to do 10, even 5 damage with infect. Once the first few counters are on, youre racing proliferate. If you're not playing green you dont get literally THE ONLY card that can stop infect. Every other strategy (graveyard, artifact combos, aggro) can be hated multiple ways. Yes, there are decks that are faster than infect, but if someone is playing infect at the table I'm killing them first because they have to do 1/4 of the damage that I do. Also, my meta doesnt spend absurd amounts of money on decks, and fair decks have little answer to infect.

My Darien's Super Secret Tech is Dragon Throne of Tarkir (a card that is massively underrated in general). First off, it's a total flavor win. Put the King on the throne. Second, it doubles up your anthems and then some. Third, show me another way to get board-wide Trample in mono white. Fourth, as an artifact (and an equipment, no less) it's super easy to get in mono-white.

I start that way, but I can't resist slightly improving my decks over time as I find new cards and eventually they all end up rather pushed. They aren't even remotely competetive because they are restricted by a theme, but they usually end up as good as I can get them within those boundaries.

Long post incoming and I want thoughts on it:
So in my quest for storage and optimization I've concluded I'm going to sleeve all decks in ivory dragon shields then have a staples box which will be switched between decks. This will make it so I don't need to double up on things like shocks, fetches, and dual lands. The box is going to be alphabetized and categorized and will not contain anything that isn't useful in a variety of decks. Price cut-off for the box is $3+ and anything really cheap but hard to track down like mind twist and signets.

I have a bird tribal deck. Mostly use it vs newer players or when the group agrees to using lower powered decks. Lots of anthem effects make the deck clock people very fast, Pretty weak to sweepers so if your group uses a lot then start to back counters.

I'm gonna build a deck with Sidar Kondo and the Kor chick worst name I can't recall. Then I'm gonna add Kydele to my Kruphix Foggydraw deck and laugh uproariously as I draw twenty cards, play Prime Speaker Zegana, and then tap Kydele to Hurricane and blow everyone out at once.

I put together akiri and tymna with equipment and some big dumb angels and dragons and it works really well. Having consistent access to a 2 and 3 drop gives you a fast start every game while you drop rocks and build up. I'm trying to think of a way to do elves with tana but I don't know who to partner her with. Sidar kind of seems ok but I dunno if Reyhan or Saskia might be better. Is anyone else still figuring out what partner combos to try?

Hey if I'm newer to the format, didn't play legacy either, what's the best way to I introduce myself to the table? I don't want to come off as a twat asking what cards do every turn, but the depth of the card pool leaves me clueless most of the time.

I've been looking into making them as a cool landfall commander. Like smashing a Patron of the Moon, Titania, and Mad Omnath deck together with a smattering of white for Emeria Sheppard/Angel seems cool.

Otherwise I do like them as a "non-kingmaker grouphug." In they end they do benefit you slightly more than your opponents and you eventually draw less aggro than other players and set up a win while your opponents slug it out with each other. Not good for competitive playgroups who will just combo the table but for casual playgroups they're a lot of fun.

Also a lot of these 4C commanders are functional because they're four colors. You can play a strategy without stretching to 5 colors and choosing a 5 color commander that will have much less synergy than a 4 color one would.

Da kings are perfect for 4 color lands dec. Gitrog and titania are both pretty spikey and dont offer a lot of colors.

The kings are also underrated as hug commanders because they dont need extra effort to break the parity of their effects, they have that built it. Pheldagriff and friends need more build around cards to not just be spinning their wheels/kingmaking.

Seriously underpowered imo. You've got all the card draw, but none of the ramp. By the time you're on turn 5, everyone else is on turn 7-8. I ran Sygg, River Cutthroat and it was just hard to keep up. Then smashed Meren with it to make Sidisi, and it's pretty good as a reanimator/self mill deck.

Just say you're a fledgling commander player, don't worry. Most decks run very similar pool of cards and you'll get used to 60-75%of cards in time.

But there will always be cards that everyone at the table needs a refresher on. Generally tribal decks run cards nobody knows by heart. It may seem overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it.
