Special Eyes

Last character I played scooped out his eyes as part of a religious ritual and in the hollow places wax and a wick. He burned the wick. As you can imagine the top of the sockets were completely covered in burns going halfway up his forehead and he constantly wept wax.

This was in pathfinder and I was a blind oracle.

I had an idea for a race of beast folk that had "flexible horns" that connect to where their eye sockets would be. So in essence they look like Gore Magala when it extends it's sensing horn.

It allowed them to "see" magic but they couldn't see details so everything was a featureless outline filled in by their other senses.

I like this one, but I'd go with just a solid one-colour orb with a rune on it. It moves and focuses like a normal eye, just, it's got that rune in place of a proper iris/pupil/whatever.

A smooth, blank stretch of skin where the eyes should be, with unnaturally coincidental shadow falling on it in just the right places.
