>The Phalanx defied description. Ship was not a big enough word for the home of the Imperial Fists. Fortress made no allowance for its grace and ability to travel between the stars. It could be defined in several ways: as fortress-monastery, temple, relic, the single biggest warp-capable object in all the Imperium, a symbol of Imperial might, battle-fortress. But none adequately captured the reality in words. Human speech was too limited.

I think Titans of any kind usually have a good track record against the Tau.

I recall the Ork Stompas with the forcefields shrugging off the worst the Tau could throw at them on two separate occasions.

At 18 inch range, and needs to be 9 for rapid fire. With a sniper I can put 2 of those shots down range at 24'
>>
>>50201156

>>
>>50201168

It's for a league so I can't really 'swap them out' as it's persistent, unless the judge would allow it, which would kind of make sense. I could just say 'he got off his bike and grabbed his stalker bolter' or 'the bikes being repaired so he's using a stalker bolter instead'
>>
>>50201121
That's the Rust Wars. Almost 300 years before the Tau saw the need to develop anti-titan weaponry and created dozens of weapon system designed to kill titans.

You are making the classical mistake of thinking the Tau are in a bubble of stasis like the Imperium.

We have been in the Time of Ending since 3th ED. It's just the period between when behemoth invaded and the start of the 13th Black Crusade.

What you mean is the End Times which take place after 999 41K. What will happen? We have the Black Crusade series (Book 1 is Traitor's Hate) to tell us. My guess is that he loyalists will manage to stop the Daemon Cage from exploding but Abaddon will find what he seeks in the core of the Eye of Terror.
>>
>>50200789
Doesn't the manta not get hit by the blasts? I know you fire at regular ballistic skill but it's still a flyer.
>>
>>50201205
>>50201242
My bad, I was thinking about End Times.
That's near Eye of Terror, but what about Octarian sector, Attack on Fenris(propabli they will summon Magnus there), what about Tau, Commoragh, Eldar defending Black Library from Ahriman?
>>
>>50201008
That's the genius of propoganda. Only one of the four warlord titans on Taros was destroyed, and it was killed by an airstrike from Tigersharks.

Years later, though, Longstrike is the one credited with the kill.

At least he /actually/ fucked up Pask.
>>
>>50201281

desu I think the last races left on the galaxy are Orks, Necrons and Tyranids.

They have the tenacity. And once they're the only ones left, they dont feed chaos, its dead.
So at a point, chaos actually needs to ally itself with the imperium/tau/eldar, just so they could have something to feed on. Which in itself is unthinkable.
Or chaos needs to become the bulwark to protect the materium, and could you see that happening?

In the end, galaxy will become simple biomass in the hive fleet, before it moves on.
>>
>>50201310
Orks feed chaos, they don't feed it as much as some other races but they aren't necrons/nids.
>>
>>50201281
>Octarian sector

Ghaz saved it from being overrun. Leviathan responded by sending two more tendrils to the region. Ghaz is still fighting there but he has his Meks working on a teleporter than can teleport him all the way from there to Armageddon.

>Attack on Fenris(propabli they will summon Magnus there)

Happens before the 13th Black Crusade. The Wolves confirmed to survive and move on to take command of the Imperial forces defending the Cadian Gate.

>what about Tau,

Behind a wall of fire.

-Civil strife with the Enclaves.
-Possible Tyranids invasion
-The Mon'tshaar prophecy

That's what they are looking forward to.

>Commoragh

Vect and Malys are prep for the Gate of Khaine disaster.

>Eldar defending Black Library from Ahriman

The Death Masque had Eldrad recruit some harlequins defending the Black Library. This left the Black Library under-defended.
>>
>>50201196
And then the Tau up and decided that these anti-titan weapons weren't good enough and started building their own. Why? Heck if I know, I thought the idea of a faction not using titans in a universe in love with titans would be kind of cool.
>>
>>50201310
Don't kid yourself. The lore points as Chaos as the main threat that all should ally against. All Chaos aims to destroy all life, space, and time in the galaxy.
>>
>>50201310
You seem to be dismissing Chaos? Why?

With the Emperor dead most human psykers will become conduits for the warp. The eye will expand and with Terra and Mars destroyed, no Astronomican and noone left holding them back chaos will flood reality.
>>
>>50201295
They knocked out his tank. Not very impressive, as even in his own codex it's mentioned that Pask gets his tanks shot out from under him all the time.

It makes me wonder if the Leman Russ has some sort of crazy-good crew-survivability feature. Not very guardsmen of it, but the lore does mention executioners used in the Dark Age of tech, so I guess maybe back then they actually did care for their tank crews. Either that, or Pask is a favored deciple of Tzeench.
>>
>>50201343
>The Wolves confirmed to survive and move on to take command of the Imperial forces defending the Cadian Gate.

The Chaos gods want anarchy. They want lawless, limitless societies ruled over by scheming warlords and devoid of any antiseptics.

Dude, I was referring to the 7th ED Wolf codex (the came out at the same time as Curse of the Wulfen) saying that the Wolves went to Cadia and Logan took over the command. It's the final entry in the codex timeline. It's one of things that didn't change from the old 13th Black Crusade.
>>

Chaos will obliterate all life in the galaxy as well as reality. In end, only Chaos will remain eternal.

Manta every time on tabletop.
As a flyer none of the warlords D weapons can touch it. That leaves a potential megabolter, and the ardex weapons to hit it. Megabolter having the farthest reach at 60"

Manta has 3 twin linked long barrelled ion cannons for 9 S7 shots at 90" followed by two railshots at 110" range.

Given enough turns the Manta will shred the void shields and begin hitting the warlord with D it can't respond to as it kites the titan around the field of battle.

Chaos doesnt want to end, without minds and thoughts of sentient beings in materium, they are no more.

>>50201357
Without sentient life in the materium, there are no thoughts for the warp. They just are extinguished, like a flame without oxygen.

>>50201357
Chaos is an intety that cant exist without others.
Its their job to make them suffer, but keep on going. Herding them like cattle, but never destroying.

Tyranids will end it all.
Nothing can stop the unfeeling, fearless swarm.

Chaos is not eternal, it ends, when everything else does, immortality for them is an illusion, a gift to bribe the weak. So that they could bring more suffering, before 'Nids consume it all.

And then the 'Nids leave. Time looses its meaning for a dead and barren galaxy. End times took what was theirs

Please, that agreement never happened. GW saw how well DKs sold despite their ugliness, so they started making Riptides and WKs and when those started selling, they made the Stormsurge and Ta'unar and giant AoS crap.

>>
>>50201723

That's a pretty weak list. The Piranhas are good units but they're too frail to carry an entire army like that. I would start with the Broadsides and then add Piranhas rather than the other way around.

>‘They are called the Grey Knights,’ said Veritus. ‘They are a force of warriors without peer, engineered from gene-seed taken from the Emperor Himself a thousand years ago. A last, parting gift from our god before He was taken from us to sit upon His Golden Throne.’

>‘They are Adeptus Custodes then?’ Wienand rubbed her hand along the wood. Whereas the bench in the Sigillite’s Retreat was smooth and dry, the grain of this wood was rough under her touch, the strands of lignin still swollen with moisture. Although dead, it smelt fresh; a sense of life still clung to it.

>‘They are greater than the Adeptus Custodes,’ said Veritus. ‘Each one is a potent psyker. Their strength is in their brotherhood. As the end approached, the Emperor foresaw a need for warriors who could stand against Chaos, incorruptible and mighty, and He made them so, the mightiest warriors beside the primarchs He ever created. For them, the daemon holds no fear. I believe that, in time, the Emperor hoped mankind would realise its psychic potential, avoid the catastrophe that struck the eldar, and end the threat of Chaos forever. In the Grey Knights, I see hope for the future. They are the pinnacle of what we could be.’

>‘The eldar are psychic by nature. From what they have hinted, that sped their destruction. They tell me that we have already fallen. The Dark Age of Technology was our era of might, and even then we could not match their empire of old. They persisted for millions of years, we for mere thousands and now we slowly die.’ She thought of the Sigillite’s Retreat as she said that.

>‘We rose again, and we can rise a third time. They are the spent force, not us,’ said Veritus. ‘We must believe this, or we are doomed. When you see the Grey Knights, you will understand that there is hope.’

You're looking for chit and map style wargames or some other miniature wargame if you're looking for that kind of strategy. 40k is pretty braindead when it comes to strategy. Most of the gameplay is just having fun with models or abusing the most overpowered rules and loopholes in short term tactics. The end strategy of every 40k army is "have a better army than the other guy" and either kill everything or end up on more objectives than him.

To his credit, they're really good at not dying. That's about it. Their poison CCW's look great on paper, but in reality they're going to be wounding most things on at least a 4 and most likely a 3, and they're otherwise not equipped for CC. Their Blight Grenades are under-utilized, though - defensive grenades are really useful for holding objectives.

Overall, they're overcosted, but they also shouldn't be underestimated.

Nope. It was developed as the next suit and carried the provincial designation of MkV, but some big name legions didn't like it and pushed it to smaller legions to fail and get buried. RG made use of the suits better than average stealth abilities and showed that it was a suit with its uses, which were improved once the armour was improved.

According to what? Where does it say it was designed as a stealth suit?

>requires bonding studs to hold it together

No, the studs bonded extra armour on the suit to give it better protection. Same studs can be found on various other suits applying extra plating or repairs.

>VII - MkVI is up armoured and made cheaper to produce

Technically they take the design philosophy of the MkVI to its logical end. MkVI and VII are very similar and thus both continue to serve alongside each other to the 41st millennium.

So this is my current "Steel Confessors" list and I would really like to add a Knight to the army. (Mostly because I want to paint a big model and have a cool thing.)
What Knight goes best (Forgeworld included) with my list.
I know a few CSM/Orks/IG/SM players that use a knight by 1500 and I figured I could throw one in to.

Iron Hands Demi Company:

Chaplain with Jump Pack - 105

7 Assault Marines with Jump Packs - 144pts
>Includes Veteran Seargent with a Lightning Claw

10 Devastators - 200
>4 Plasma Cannons

10 Man Tactical Squad - 210
>Grav Cannon, Rhino

2x10 Man Tactical Squad - 195
>Meltagun, Combi Melta, Rhino

Iron Hands Suppression Force:

Landspeeder - 65
>Assault Cannon, Heavy Bolter

2 Whirlwinds - 130

(1244/1250)

My current favorite is the Atropis and although my group is fine with forgeworld I would still need the book for the unit and am not sure which that is.
Also is the new supplement worth picking up? I really want some artillery but I do nt like the Armored Task force.

For what you've got right now, the Warden or Paladin is probably the best bet. AP3 to ward off MEQs, and Rending will help deal with 2+ in a reliable fashion. The D sword will also help you in forcing your opponent to play further back, fighting D is never easy.

However, you may wanna change some things up in your list. You may want to drop the extra Devs, they aren't going to do much, and that'll get you points for a Drop Pod or Rhino. The other Tacs should probably be split up too, and 7 Assault Marines aren't terribly scary. But for a start, you're looking great. Work towards some vehicle formations (good ol' Armored Task Force is great, but the Angel's of Death stuff is pretty neat too).

Hell, maybe grab some Admech models, Skitarii will put out fantastic damage at against anything and Cult Mechanicus has some of the most Killy guns out there. And it's fluffy to boot.

Also obligatory ayyyy my nigga, always cool to see another person playing the best chapter. Mind showing your models? I've only got an old picture on me

Tuska's lads. They've been fighting daemons for so long that their equipment all ran out decades ago. Their armour has long been replaced by plundered sheets of daemonic-forged metal, ripped from the sundered corpses of juggernauts. Orkish hands grip serrated blades once clutched by Bloodletters, whilst whooping Biker-boyz ride into battle on purloined Skull Cannons. Icons of Khorne have been bashed into rough approximations of Orkish glyphs, gretchin have been welded inside captured Hellbrutes, the exposure to the residual Chaos taint driving them completely insane.

Leading them all is Tuska himself. Over a century of fighting endlessly against the hordes of Khorne has lead to an ork of truly titanic proportions. His armour is ripped from the bodies of the greatest foes he has bested; the Bloodthirsters of Khorne, and from the greatest of these comes his weapon too, a colossal double-handed axe, too mighty for any other Ork to wield.

The Atrapos' 40k rules are available as a download on the FW site, as are all the other Knights except the Styrix, who is not 40k legal due to the Volkite Chierovile, a S8 AP3 Heavy 5 Deflagrate martian ray gun powered by marine rape.
>>
>>50203768

Some Noise Marines with sonic blasters to move across the board and break shit in cover, a couple of five-man Noise Marine squads with a blastmaster for long range support fire, bikes with the Mark of Slaanesh and Icon of Excess to accompany the Lord, who's wielding that silly power fist/lightning claw combo. Maybe throw in a melta termicide squad. I'm sure there's a way to get this to 1500 points.

The other idea I had was maxed out Noise Marine squads of ten, using two blastmasters, 7 sonic blasters, Mark of Slaanesh, Icon of Excess, and cart them towards a destination in a rhino. Squads like that can do it all while being a massive loss of points every time the opponent hits, which will be often.
>>
>>50204544
To be honest I don't see what's so bad about the Volkite Gun, even if it rolls literally 100% perfect it's just slightly better than the Gatling Cannon.

But oh well, I guess Volkite must just die.
>>
>>50204599
FW demands no Volkite in 40k, as lore wise it was already extremely rare in 30k, as it was just too hard to properly make in large quantities and repair as well, so it was being phased out even just after the beginning of the Great Crusade.

FW is still pissed at GW for giving the Dominus a Volkite weapon, giving the volkite weapon rules unlike any other, and just plain detailing it wrong in the artwork.

>>

>>
>>50201855

It will be a long haul that's for sure. I find all the details on space marines to be really time consuming to paint.
>>
>>50204906

30 Marines is 3 weeks, aka 21 days, which leaves you 29 days to paint the cultists.
>>
>>50204929
well when you put it that way of course it is reasonable, but it will still be a test of endurance.

I've also got some time off from work coming up which I planned to spend painting so long as I can stay focused.
>>
>>50204949

>endurance

Not so much. It's more a test of consistency. If you consistently do X amount of painting per week, you'll get it done.

In this case, you need to average 1.4 models per day, or 9.8 per week.

If you paint one and a half models a day consistently, you'll be done in 47 days. Have more time? Paint more! You'll only be ahead. If you can't paint one day, don't sweat it. You have 3 days to spare, and each day you do more, you have more time to finish.

Success comes from breaking big huge goals into smaller, more manageable goals.

>‘You have more secrets?’ she said.

>‘My secrets have secrets,’ he said, and smiled. ‘Vangorich may have the best interests of the Imperium at heart, but he will fail. No man can rule the Imperium alone. You must keep the Inquisition independent until this episode is over. Remain vigilant against corruption. No one is immune. I have seen how Chaos can take the best of us. I was there on the Vengeful Spirit when the Luna Wolves were corrupted from within.’

>‘The Vengeful Spirit? The Luna Wolves?’ Wienand frowned. ‘The Warmaster Horus’ ship? That’s impossible! No standard human has lived so long.’

>‘I have. I did. I am over fifteen hundred years old.’ He reached out with his hand. When Wienand took it, he surprised her with the power of his grip. ‘I knew him, Wienand, I knew the Warmaster. Horus did not begin as anything other than a loving son of the Emperor, but he was proud and he was arrogant, and so when he was tested, he did not have the strength to resist. Do you not see? If he fell, anyone can. There are holes in the armour of the mightiest man. The influence of Chaos is pernicious, it is a slow poison. A man might think he does great good, when he does terrible evil. You must, you must…’ he took in a heaving breath. His eyes locked on to Wienand’s and he held her hand so tightly the bones ground together. Death hovered close at hand and when he spoke again, he did so quickly.

>‘You must make sure the Inquisition does not lose its focus. The threats of the material universe are nothing when set alongside the dangers of Chaos. It can strike any time, corrupt any heart. The road to damnation is travelled with small steps and the paving is engraved with noble intentions. By the time we look up from our feet we find ourselves staring into the furnaces of damnation.’

>‘No one of any influence like Horus’ has fallen to Chaos since the Heresy,’ said Wienand.
>>
>>50205141
>‘Our vigilance has weakened. There have been others, planetary governors among them, who have heard Chaos’ siren call. It is only a matter of time until someone of higher station treads the infernal trail beaten by the Warmaster. Beware of the Adeptus Astartes. They are our greatest defenders, but they can become greater enemies. They are not equipped for failure. I am afraid the end of this crisis may beget more terrible problems than we have endured yet. If the Space Marines fell to Chaos once, they might do again. The Luna Wolves… they… they showed me how it can happen,’ he gasped. ‘They were brought low by pride and false grievance. Their turning damned the Warmaster. Always look to the masses as well as the figureheads. Chaos strikes at both.’

>‘I shall. I will!’

>‘Do not lose heart. The lures of Chaos are manifold,’ he said, panting shallowly. ‘The powers of the Dark Gods are terrifying, but they are not boundless in their might, and they are opposed. There is light in the universe. You must have faith. The Imperial Creed is the truth, Wienand. I have seen the power of the Emperor at first hand, the way He shields us. He watches us all, He protects us. Never forget that. Even now, as He sits entombed upon the Golden Throne, He is with us. I take comfort in that, although I have seen so much that would test the most pious. My successor, the one you will choose to lead the Ordo Malleus, they must be pure. Anyone who opposes Chaos directly is exposed to its temptations. The finest soul can be blackened. They must be kept honest, focused not on their duty, but why they do their duty. Do you understand me?’

>Wienand nodded. ‘I do.’ She looked down at the wizened example of humanity in the bed, so emaciated and frail his body made but a wrinkle under the sheets. She looked into his face wonderingly. Could a man truly live 1,500 years?
>>
>>50205149
>‘Now, there is something I have to give you. Press your palm to mine. Quickly!’

>She shifted her grip on his hand. Veritus spoke swift words under his breath. Wienand cried out as a sharp pain stabbed into her palm, growing hot to the point of agony.

>‘Hold still! Bear the pain! I pass to you the key to Titan. Without it, you will not be able to enter the monastery there.’

>The pain grew. Wienand gritted her teeth. It reached a crescendo and she gasped.

>‘You must go to Titan,’ said Veritus. ‘Seek out the Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights. Seek out Janus! Pass on to him our plans and tell him they have my blessing.’

>His breath rattled in his chest. His eyes slid closed.

>‘Is it true?’ she whispered. ‘Did you really know Horus?’

>‘It is the truth,’ said Veritus. With a last effort, he pulled on Wienand’s hands, his knuckles white, half lifting his frail body. His face lost some of the lines of pain, becoming open and lighter. He smiled, pleased to share his great secret at last. ‘My name was Kyril Sindermann. I was chief iterator to the Sixty-Third expedition of the Great Crusade. I was present when Horus abandoned the love of the Emperor for the lies of the enemy. I was there as the Luna Wolves were corrupted from within. I was there at Isstvan III when brother turned on brother. I endured the Siege of Terra, and I knew Saint Euphrati, the first of the saints, as a friend.’

>He sank back into the mattress.

>‘And…’ he gasped. ‘And…’

>Wienand leaned in. His last words were as arid and hushed as wind blowing over sand.

>‘And I was there the day the Emperor slew Horus.’

>A last, wheezing breath passed from Veritus’ lungs, followed by a thread of bloody dribble. His heart fluttered under the sheets, then stilled.

Veritus turned out to be one of the four founding members of the Inquisition. One of the four that new of the Grey Knight existence. He was also a character from the HH series but with a name change. Can you guess who?

The epilogue is too juicy for a dying thread. I think I need to start a thread for it.

>BL is GW fluff. It's part of the company.
That is quickly discarded or changed as GW pleases like the burning of prospero recent change, BL canon is like star wars EU, only when it's fairly popular it's integrated with the "true" with slightly changes as they saw fitting or is completely discarded if they don't like it.

>That is quickly discarded or changed as GW pleases

The same as any GW source. The change to the Admech modern hardware being available in the HH started in BL and is going get ported by FW and GW.

I bought a tau get started box for an upcoming campaign of tau vs genestealers. What type of units would counter them well?

I know i'll get destroyed in melee so I don't quite know what units to look for.

I really wish they'd add a mechanic so you could field Trooper Bragg with an autocannon or in a vehicle with his combi-auto

If a model has FnP and Eternal Warrior, double S still negates the FnP, right?
>>
>>50205541
Yep, but it wont ID the model, just reduce him to a single wound if he has eternal warrior.
>>
>>50205560

It doesn't reduce him TO a single wound, he just reduces his wounds BY one.
>>
>>50205560

Alright, that's what I thought.

I'm debating if it's even worth taking a Hospitallar with my SoB Command Squad with all the S6+ everywhere. Might be better to go with a 6th combi-plas.

My bad, thought it was the other way around. Cheers

The website FUCKING annoys me.

I want to apply for a job but the "Why you want this job" letter fucks me every time.

I explain how much I enjoy the lore, how my experience is fantastic alongside what they're asking for and how I'd love the job

NOPE.jpg.

how the fuck do I answer that question when the answer I think is logical obviouslyt isn't to these neckbearded fucks>?

Just apply to the physical stores you twonk, the Glasgow one has massive turnover at any rate, usually about 5-6 employees at a time and replaces about half of them yearly.

>I explain how much I enjoy the lore
>how I'd love the job

Don't. You obvious enjoy the hobby or you wouldn't be applying. Don't even bother. I spoke to my local GW manager about a job there and they tend to drop candidates if they focus on that. They know you're interested in the hobby.

Tell them what skills you have, give examples of good customer service in the past, give examples of responsibility, reliability, trust worthy only. Show them your skills and why those skills mean you're good for the job.

You're applying for a job. Treat it like applying for any job. If you don't you won't be hired. Trust me.

All of this. When you tell them how much you enjoy the hobby you present as a customer, rather than a potential employee.
