I don't know, Master Chief could give an Astartes a run for their money. He kinda totes the line in terms of bulk between SM and Eldar, plus he's used to fighting things like Hunters and Brutes.

I think it would depend on the Astartes in question. Master Chief has killed some nasty bastards, as have some Astartes, but some Astartes are just mooks who get killed by Chaos, Orks, and the like for the sake of trophies.

I liked most of the gameplay. The forced mixing of first- and third-person wasn't great, but if they'd stuck to third person and geared it more towards being a ranged beat-'em-up, the only complaint I'd have is the plot. And I can ignore the plot, but then again, I have a lot of practice with ignoring things and tuning out everything but the most necessary information.

Depends a lot on the metaphysics of soulgems, particularly when transplanted into the 40k universe. At least from what we see of the Soul Cairn in dawnguard, dumping eldar souls into it doesn't seem like it helps the Eldar much. Sure the Ideal Masters may be powerful enough to keep Slaanesh at bay, but the souls are still functionally lost to the Eldar, unless they come up with a way to enter the cairn.

Souls aren't sent to the Cairn until the gem is used to create or charge an item: the enchantment/charge is the power the Masters exchange for the soul. Before then, the soul is still trapped in the gem as normal. Take for instance the guy who tried to use Azura's Star as a phylactory.

No, a Spartan would stack up terribly against a Space Marine, because the default Astartes weapon is a 19mm hypersonic armor penetrating missile launcher with an explosive warhead that will likely gut what is just titanium armor.

The only weapons in Halo that would be threatening in Warhammer are Forerunner weapons, because Forerunners be OP as fuck. But as for Spartans, it'd be questionable if their shields would even be able to stand up to a single three-round-burst of Godwyn Bolter Fire. Then when it comes to strength and speed, a Spartan is seriously outclassed. Spartans are basically discounted Space Marines with some really shitty power armor that can even be threatened by modern day bullets. I remember some stories from Halo where Spartans 2's were actually killed by modern day firearms, unsurprising because titanium can be penetrated by rifle rounds.

A better match for a space marine would be a high-ranked Elite. Elites have stronger shields the higher their rank and better armor, and the best of the best Elites are faster, stronger, and all round better than even Spartan II's. Ripa for example only really died because he was a fucking retard and didn't immediately kill Forge. Otherwise he even overpowered Spartans.

Why do people think Doomguy would be some special threat to the Chaos Gods or even achieve anything? He's just a guy with guns, he has no special powers. How many video game characters *canonically* have the power to respawn in their story, anyway? Nearly all video games allow you to re-attempt after you die, with varying levels of niceness about where. But not a whole lot of them actually put that in their canon as a real power of the protagonist.

Doom is one. Who are the others? I think there's a sub-category of protags that fit game overs into canon or canonize an inability to fail ("wait I'm misremembering, that's not how it happened" *rewind*) but it's not the same thing.

Despite everything she's got a very good shot at doing some serious stuff in 40k. She fights what's arguably a chaos god after all. The problem for her is gaining some Faith.
The Emperor has kind of starved her on that front, unfortunate considering she's a nice goddess who enjoys spreading flowers and feeding bunnies before taking a nap in the sun.

If she can get some traction somewhere -as 'the Hound of the Emperor' perhaps- she can snowball her Faith and miracles. If she can't, she loses her powers and becomes a white wolf somewhere with memories of grandeur.

About the Doom vs 40k debate

It's important to note that the new game kinda overhauled the lore by basically making all the Doomguy memes canon.

Fall of Reach, when they were trialing the MJOLNIR armor on a Spartan-II for the first time ever, in concert with having Cortana loaded into the suit. It was supposed to be just a basic obstacle course thing, but then it turned out all the guns were loaded with live ammo, and the final obstacle was lolgunship because Ackerson really, really, REALLY wanted the Spartan/MJOLNIR/Cortana/literally anything Halsey has ever been involved with program to fail.

Also of note was that this was before shield tech was installed into the MJOLNIR armor, as this was before humans had shield tech (if memory serves, this was all before contact with the Covenant).

You are completely correct. It's something I noticed, too. I plab to correct it when I have a better feek for the pic. Right now, I have the color, value, and lines on 3 separate layers. Pretty good, but not great. Assuming runic stops psyker powers, she's have a good amount of survivability. She's pretty strong but not as strong as a space marine certainly. She has strong magic, but nothing that would change the tide of a large-scale battle. Give her Minerva, Ultima Weapon, a Ribbon and a Force Shield and she's pretty much a force of nature, but that's par for the course in 40k. I just don't think she'd matter much in the grand scheme of things.

Doomguy yeah, but Samus no. She seems to enjoy the time between adventures and seems the thoughtful sort when not kicking ass. She designed her own gunship after all which requires a certain amount of calm and gets downright melancholy at the end of Prime 3. Killing the phazon-zombies of her bounty hunter colleagues and dark Samus isn't something to wave off.
