On western side of the story, there are the Polynesian nautical warrior equivalents. One of my players plays a seven foot tall female paladin from that group. Fun character.

On the Silk Road end of the setting there's a desert continent to the south of my Three Kingdoms continent. One of my players is playing a conjurer wizard from the Aladdin Enlightenment Arabia country in the southern continent.

I try to keep the distribution logical though. There might be some villages or regions that are predominantly populated by one ethnicity or the other, and kingdoms with very active commerce are usually melting pots of diverse characters.

My setting takes place in some bastardized sci-fi version of the Songhai based ona game of Civ 5 I played. So most of the main cast is black, with quite a few arabs coming to trade, with India being some sub-continent off the coast like Australia

I think there were a few European countries to the North based on city names, but the British ate them all.

Then I decided the elves would be jungle people, and they pretty much resemble civ 6's Kongo now.

Neat. I'm running a homebrew African Fantasy setting myself.

I tried running an African campaign once. I brought it up with my players, and they thought it sounded like a welcome change.

So I wrote up the setting, centered around a coastal city that had become rich from trading, with a backstory about a long lost civilization suddenly awakening and wanting its land back.

One guy wanted to play a fucking Viking. In fact, these players who had been so keen on the change of setting all wanted to play the same kind of European fantasy characters they usually did.
The only one who had a good idea was the mage, who had undertaken a dangerous sea voyage to investigate the stories of a lost magical college.

They are described as dark skinned and completely hairless, having meticulously removed their body hair.

The group itself is a organization of Bloat Mages who have learned how to mitigate the "getting massively fat" portion of the class. Instead they raise and use blood leeches, which, in battle, they keep in massive floating tanks.

They arrived to make a request of the city and to offer aid. In exchange for access to the archives they agreed to route out wax witches throughout the poorest districts who have plagued the city by magically inducing riots for months.

Having many human races just doesn't make much sense in most settings. There's a reason humans have varied skin colors (evolution, founder effect), and in the absence of a natural origin there is also an absence of justification for that. When a deity decides to pop a civilization into existence, a monoracial one strains believability the least. All white, all black, all asian, it doesn't matter, as long as we keep our historical and emotional baggage in check and where it belongs.

Yes there are dark skinned races but no there are no black humans.

The only humans in the setting are basically Slavs from a giant sub-arctic continent that fled northwards across an ocean to a continent that most knew about but few cared enough about to bother setting up shop there outside of a few fisherman until a supervolcano erupted killing the Czar and plunging the empire into chaos and civil war.

The Brownies that the initial wave of humans conquer and nearly drive to extinction are very dark skin, but are more like the Mayans than Africans, but far to the west across the Isthmus of Teplova there are black Elvish kingdoms whose leaders are so wealthy and so ambivalent to what is going on outside of their realms that the fact that the humans are quickly overwhelming the lands to their West despite being a fractured mass of refugees with no real direction or goal other than survival doesn't raise any alarm bells. The Black elvish Kingdoms draw heavily from Songhai with a bit of Aksum thrown in, like the carved churches. There aren't really any "white" Elvish races in the setting. The dwarves with their dementedly complex republican city-states are white, but they feel no kinship to humans who hold the dynasty that founded the Human Empire in such high regard that every petty king and despot in the fractured human lands claims to be descended from them.

Yes, the entire region they are in is populated by notArabs and notEthiopians.
The previous region was mostly notGreeks/Italians/Sicilians, but plot moved them many leagues to the northeast.
Most people do not know, but the old Empire moved entire populations to the area because those people had a powerful, natural talent for magic, and some were born with an inherent ability to commune with the Elder Spirits of the world. The area they were moved to was the scientific heart of the empire, where the people were employed in magic research to fuel planar expansion, quality of life and weapon research, which is what made the empire the juggernaut it was until literally everyone turned on it.
The people there now are the descendants of the researchers, technicians, shamans and philosophers of the old empire, but as a people turned their back on the heritage, as the empire, in it's dying days, could not protect them from retribution brought by outside forces.
Honestly, my players, outside of surprise that they have found dark skinned humans outside their designated equator area, have adjusted admirably and continue forward. They are dealing mostly with dwarves, tho, for the time being.
