Why do people consider Calth an Ultramarines victory? Look at those casualties, plus the Ruinstorm

Because Word Bearers didnt really accomplish their objective. And 112k casulties didnt really matter for Ultramarines since they were massively big legion compared to everyone else since they assimilated at LEAST one other Forgotten Legion.

>120,000 dead with another 30,000 combat-incapable
>150,000 of 250,000
>60% casualties
It was pretty significant

60% casulties of 20 chapters. Whole UM legion wasnt present.

250,000? Are you counting the Word Bearers in this? That's still a lot of dead Astartes, regardless.
Roughly 150,000 of 200,000 is about 75%, though, and that's some massive casualties for the Ultramarines. Perturabo might actually be jealous of those kinds of casualties, which would just lead him to decimate more of his own legion for lack of zeal.

The entire UM Legion was said to be 250,000 pre-heresy
Total UM forces at Calth (according to HH Book Five: Tempest) were 185,000
