I recently ordered an Ork Weirdboy on the GW online store cus it is exclusive and I get this sprue that has like 20 attachments to a tiny piece and these little support plastic bits on the figure like inbetween the grot's chin and torso. I see this on almost all the sprues. Is this normal or did I get a fucked sprue?

Finecast is like that. Most people hate it as a result. You have to manually cut off the extra tabs, and fill in all the bubbles with greenstuff.
They're replacing the medium with plastic because they don't want to work with metal anymore, and people can't stand finecast. This is both good and bad. Bad because plastic can't hold as many fine details as finecast or metal, but good because plastic casts normally contain fewer imperfections.

Plastic is also much better for economies of scale - the steel injection plates are good for many, many more pressings than a silicon mold and with GW's global distribution, they crank out tens of thousands of even their niche solo characters.
