Use them as a teams heavy cavalry like >>50015466 suggest. I think it'd be pretty cool to have a armored melee class drider acting as the wizards or rangers multi-terrain war horse. In open areas you can just flank around and act as a shock unit and web down any high valued targets and blitzkrieg through enemy lines.

Can you fucking imagine half your team entering the room where the BBEG's at and he's like "This is all you have?" And your team's like "nope" ? points up, and the BBEG gets blasted in the face with fireball, disintegrate and a giant spider just pounces his ass? Even better. BBEG is has arachnophobia.
