How should I run exodites?

I mostly have interest in their worldweavers and their ability to control plants. (Dino-knights are cool too, granted)

Do eldar have access to daemonology? The idea of using the cool treepeople from AoS interests me, but I don't know how to run them besides as counts-as bloodletters or daemonettes.

It might be pretty easy to convert a Fusion Gun by adjusting the barrel/cartridge like so.

That's because you're not flooded by distractions, so you actually have both time and desire.

At least the Tau guy is primed.

Is that a monolith made from old CD drive parts and various plastic computer junk? It looks good.

>>49975274
The few exodite armies I've heard of or seen tend to use the treepeople from AoS/fantasy as your wraith units, use the dark elf or lizardmen dino mounts to be the base for jetbikes, and use the bigger lizardmen dinos as the other tanks. If this is something you want to do, I highly recommend using bits sites so that you don't rape your wallet too much

What do you guys think about non-traditional basing. Like how this harlequins army is on cards instead of solid ground?
>>
>>49975371
I don't know much about the intracies of the modern eldar, as I haven't had to face them since 5th edition.

Aren't jetbikes and gravtakes more fly-y now that things are no longer limited to being skimmers? It's one thing for a raptor to jump and climb ruins, but a bastadon I don't really know how well that'd work.

Is melee eldar still totally trash against anything notguardsmen/orks?

I do from time to time. I have an unbeaten 1850 pt list and since I have that. I can experiment and run whatever I want. People always fall into the t3 trap. Apparently they think all good armies destroy everything on t1 or t2. They get over confident and move into range for my t3. They usually concede by t4

Also I just remembered FW makes "Eldar Corsair upgrade" kits that come with a Eldar Flamer if you'd rather money over effort.

I think you could just as easily make one like I said on >>49975345. The most important of flamer conversions is fuel storage bit considering the profile of basically every portable flamer in 40k features a canted fuel cartridge.
>>
>>49975244
Also I use a monolith in every game even in my unbeaten list
>>
>>49975476
Eldar are pretty scary in melee with their wraithknights and wraithguard. Skimmers are still skimmers. I recommend giving the brb and new codex a once over to see how much things have changed before you start building.

So I've got a Space Wolves army. It's about 2/3rds painted, I love the viking theme. But the recent turn in the writing and the new models have made me loose interested in the army, you know damn well what I'm talking about. I considered selling them for a bit of cash and starting something else, but I still like the dreadnoughts, I still like the iconography and the runes so I figured I'll just make my own chapter, strip the paint off all the models I have painted and start fresh with my own scheme.

Might make a thread for discussing potential color scheme and lore writing shit but for now I just wanted to ask how to go about stripping vehicles like this land raider here. I got this thing years ago and for whatever reason I decided to use plastic cement for assembling some parts of it so complete disassembly is out of the question however I think I should be able to remove the roof just fine. What are some good tools/scrubbers for getting out the paint of tight places in the interior, dont like the idea of having a goo of stripped/melted paint in the inside of my land raider.

Also any tips for shaving off and removing iconography from rounded surfaces such as shoulderpad. Im going to make some what of an effort to remove the excess wolf symbols.

I am thinking of basing my harlequins similar to this using the tarot cards. I like the idea of the solitaire on death and the devil and my shadowseers of the star, the sun, and the moon.

Sisters need to have a space marine stat line to be usable.

They also need to beat all MEQ in melee

I've been to a number of tournaments as a Dark Eldar player. It didn't work very well but after smashing my head against the Coven's codex a few times and learning to play to objectives I managed to hit the middle of the pack at events fairly regularly. However, I think I've strung my DE out as far as they're gonna go. I'm starting to take the competitive scene more seriously now and I've begun expanding my Eldar collection. My question is, what is this "superfriends" list I keep hearing about, what does it do, and how do you play against it? I've honestly never seen one run.

And yes I know I'm a tourney fag but hey someone has to represent DE in the circuit.

Eldar can flat-out remove a unit without difficulty by deepstriking an archon with a webway portal right next to it and spraying it with d-scythes, and have the broken piece of shit that is the Wraithknight. They've also got the best psykers outside of librarius conclaves. Deldar also have assault transports that eldar lack, if you feel the need for assaulting in seventh ed

I've already got an idea for my homebrew chapter and besides like I said, I'm not selling the space wolves models, I'm stripping and repainting them with some minor conversions here and there. Would be kind of weird to just repaint them as white scars.

All I've got set in stone is the color scheme. I'm writing them as a chapter established on an Ag world set in old traditions. As the world is nearby a pretty well off forgeworld they come in regular contact with the mechanicus and have adopted some of their doctrines mainly the worship of the machine god, calling it Ymir instead (you might see where I'm going with this). The chapter fields a large number of dreadnoughts seeing being interred in one as a great honor as they are "reborn" as an avatar of the omnissiah/Ymir called Jotunn (giant).

Other details I'm still hammering out but hey, I dig the norse theme, I love the rules for the dreadnoughts I just hate the wolf shit and the current fluff so rather than ditching the army outright I'll just make more suitable for me.
>>
>>49977219
Sounds solid enough. Go grab the masterclass FW books from the mega, it should help. As a crazy chaos fucker who has done similar, the best solution I've found for removing symbols, you have to remove them with sand paper, a hobby knife, and a dremel, then apply greenstuff to reshape the armor to have the right surfaces. I wish you the best of luck with your dudes

Its super easy, most of that doesn't even need magnets. The sponson and hull weapons just slide in so don't glue them in and you have a nice friction fit, the actual sponson block can be easily magnetized too. The turret requires a bit of time and work, you can easily find an image guide online

Not the easiest, particularly the turret. But doable. Keep in mind that the Russ variants are split across two physical kits. So even with magnetization you won't get every option.

Question. Death Watch is a Chapter right? So 1,000 Space Marines? So 1,000 Space Marines spread between how many Fortresses? Or is each one consider 1,000 strong? If not, what is the maximum you can expect to see on the battle field? I know one of the Einsenhorn books mentions 60 going down to help, so is 100 the most, you think?

Also, when I was reading the Beast Arises book and Korland goes "Here are my demands, 1,000 troops, answer to space marines, only I can disband them." totally ruined what was going to happen, as soon as that was said, you knew he'd splat

>Question. Death Watch is a Chapter right? So 1,000 Space Marines?
Their numbers are probably all over the place, as their recruiting isn't normal.

I wouldn't expect to see more than 100 in any single theater, unless it was something huge like Armageddon. They're usually spread out in groups of 5-10, handling shit as some kind of grimdark XCOM.

You can get lasered regiment bases for round based miniatures.

There is a ebay seller situated in spain that is fairly cheap and a few online stores specialized in this stuff where you can get something like this.

Yeah that'd work.

But you can trust me when I say you can get them super cheap.
First thing I found on google: bases for 50 miniatures at 25 dollars us.

If you consider the time it takes to drill all those hole by hand and laminating the things before cleaning them up, I'd definitely rather buy them.

And this isn't the cheapest thing like this.

Is terminator armor or artificer armor better for a non-bike Iron Hands HQ Chapter Master?
>>
>>49978454
Artificer armor is better because it lets you sweep and you can keep your grenades

Thanks.I ask because the Beast Arises novel says at it's creation it's Chapter level,b ut Chapter level is 1,000 battle line PLUS shit like Chaplains, Honour Guard, Librarians and Tech Marines, so it's about 1250 but I assumed that part of the plot is the fact that Koorland dies so the Inquisition go 'fuck his rules, he's dead' and make it virtually unlimited.

I'm really surprised that there is no formation that includes a Watch Commander.

But if it's a large amount, I can have fun making plenty of 'fluffy' guys. Like lots of melee Blood Angels, lots of Jet Pack Raven Guard and so on.

Cheers.

depends on where they're gonna be.
If they're in a terminator squad, give them the armor, if not, don't bother.
>>
>>49978522
I can't remember, but I know in BA's codex, taking a Librarian in Terminator Armour is favourable choice due to getting an option for a 10pt Storm Shield. Which really helps keeping him alive.

So, you might be able to get the same with the Iron Hands. If you're planning for him to RIP AND TEAR, probably keep with Power Armour so you can nade + sweep with your squad. Alternatively, if he's buffing or pew pewing, then Terminator armour allows him to not be sniped as easily. Of course you can also run him in a Terminator Squad either way and have Storm Shields on them.
>>
>>49978522
For an Iron Hands Librarian?

Unless the HQ is going to be in a Land Raider with a crew of other Terminators (which is a shit tier tactic that will get rekt) it isn't a good option unless you are using it specifically for Deep Striking (which Deepstriking Termis aren't exactly scary these days) it isn't worth paying for.

The formations are more for kill teams in the field, assisting other imperial armies. Easy to stick a single one into an army for flavor.

Watch commanders are for when you have more than one team in the area of operations, which is what the detachment represents.

But yeah, go nuts. Deathwatch isn't really bound to rules like other chapters might be.

I've always wanted to make a Kill Team of loads of different Special Characters. I think it'd be neat to have, say:

As for the Daemons, that's kinda why I picked them. Back when I had more people to play with(5th), we had just about everything covered. Eldar, Tau, Codex Marines, CSM, Orks, Nids, DE, Crons, and IG with many being duplicates. I wanted something new, and so I started them on a whim.

Just like heroine addicts can quit after one more hit, right? Still, I have $300 set aside for them and can potentially drop $500 more. However, my hopes are not high. The only reason I'm humoring hope is because the SoS models are essentially fancy SoB models, right down to the robes.

As for daemons, I don't like how they are right now. I loved their 5th Ed Codex. Keep in mind, I started primarily mono-Tzeentch (I'm
>>49977761). Back in 5th, I could drop a bunch of stupid 5 man horror units and drown people in 4/4 fire while my shitty looking chariot flew around being an asshole and my prince(s) looked mean and shoot their bolts of change.

Both me and my opponents loved it because I could just be silly with my tide of pink gribbles by making stupid risky deep strikes and having a laugh because it either pulled a Risky Business with Tom Cruise or scattered into oblivion because they got too excited.

If I do that now, I'm drowning my opponent in psychic dice just by playing my old army. I have to roll on 400 tables before I even play the game, then I have to roll to see if I get fucked for no reason or fuck my opponent for no reason, and an hour later, we're in the first turn psychic phase, and I've got 15 dice to my opponent's 6. I can't even make a strategy because idk what weapons my Prince/LoC will have before the game starts.

With that rant over, I think Daemons need take a step back to the 5th Ed Codex. It was implied that daemons used magic for their attacks because they're literally made from psychic energy. They didn't have to test for it, and that was fine.

There are some other things that I think would be cool, too.

>>
>>49980060
personally i like the randomness of rolling a warlord trait , it reduces the effect some of the stronger ones have over the weaker ones and it promotes quick thinking , your general is already going to have a role and a place in your army no matter what trait you roll , with psykers that isn't the case unless you decide to go for a primaris trait
>>
>>49980079

Yes, they're supposed to be risky. Most psychic powers, at least the ones worth taking, are very high reward. Increasing the chance of success even a little makes things get bonkers. Just look at the success of the Librarius Conclave.

>>
>>49979925
Git gud. How long it takes to run Tzeentch Daemons is entirely dependent on how well you know the army.

People getting butthurt about the psychic dice need to fuck off. It takes tons of dice to reliably do anything with witchfires.
>>
>>49980366
What about with other formations? Dominus Maniple + Sicarian killclade, take Astra Militarum as allies and fill the board with men and tanks to support the sicarians? Maybe throw a knight down to draw their heaviest fire off your rangers/vanguards/cult troops?

Skittari have some limited options but overall are still pretty flexible. It's part of the IOM so you have generally decent to great allies for most combat roles, that is a huge plus.

With just Astra Militarum in particular you get; access to cheap psykers, access to troop transports, flyers, some of the best tank options in the game, artillery, cheap bodies for the mill that can take a melta as well
>>
>>49980240
Funny fact: in psykana you could go 2-for-1 motivational shot if you try to convert your squad to greater daemon. Fail your check and roll doubles. BAM-BAM!
>>
>>49980571
Wee bit of both. Theres no point of taking plasma-kataphrons but 10 man squad of vanguards with plasma is a good choice. I play mine with 3 plasma and Alpha as my warlord. Those sweet 9 shots of plasma that hit on 2+ reroll and usually wound on 2+ with rerolls. I can pretty much count on that they do 8-9 wounds with that.

That also leaves my magos to be 2++ sponge for my gravtaphrons. Give him Raimens of Technomartyr and hitting the deck isnt even so bad when you can snapshot on 5+ next turn. Makes them nasty anti-air unit too. 18 5+ reroll grav shots is ~6,66 wounds to hive tyrant before jinks. Add ~40% chance that Blasters are going to do a wound and thats one hellova threat to flyrants.

Overall I'm going to say that war convo is tier1,5. Its also very taxing list to play well since you have to remember SO MANY THINGS.

Yes. Its almost stupid how much better the gravs are. They are pretty much always better even against 5+ stuff since they have 6" better range compared to those plasmas.
>>
>>49980869

How about against vehicles?
>>

Grav wins. Grav always wins. That 6" extra range makes so much big difference that its not even funny.
>>
>>49980895

But it only does anything on a six right?
>>
>>49980897
Yes. 1hp and immobilized. So second six will cause 2hp and generally wreck the vehicle. Also immobilized really hurts since mobility playes so big part in this game.

Which is also the reason why that 30" range trumps plasma's 24".

Exterminators are better general purpose. Better at killing most vehicles too. Especially with a tank commander. Extremely versatile.

Battle Tanks, Exterminators, and Executioners are almost always good.

Punishers are extremely good too but it's generally pretty high-risk due to the 24" range and 6" movement.

Annihilators are ehhhh from price and the fact that a Predator does everything a LR annihilator can do but better.

Eradicators are for Tau and Necron.

Demolishers might be usable of they didn't cost so much or had 14 side or something or split shot.

>>
>>49981868
In the sense that they are no longer going to be recognizable as Behemoth. Tyranids evolve drastically in matters of days, this was 250 years prior to current point on the timeline and the splinters scattered everywhere across the Galaxy. The ones that survived are essentially their own Hive Fleets now and would attack each other on sight.

If that fails you can always make a sphere out of green stuff and wait for it to harden.
>>
>>49981903
Of course it does. All Hive Fleets compete with each other when they meet to test which has become the more efficient predator. The one which is defeated is devoured entirely and their unique adaptations assimilated into the collective genepool so they lose literally nothing from doing this, all the biomass and genetic material is just consolidated into the victorious Fleet.

Of course if this process is interrupted or interfered with in any way from an outside threat both Hive Fleet will immediately cease fighting and team up to fuck up the stupid prey that got caught between them.

Hard to describe, but there is a big trend of self diagnosing right now. Despite popular belief, depression isn't a case of the feel bads. It's a lack of desire and energy to do, well anything, even though you know you should. Simple things like taking a shower become mountains to cross.

Some days simple things that you stated are the hardest things to do at all.

The worst part is not finding joy in what you previously may have. So I love painting and converting but some days just don't feel that joy. Get some brain meds, dude. If your body chemistry can't produce the regular/necessary amount of chemicals, store bought is just fine.

You enjoy things, but suddenly your skull meat tells you that you don't--it's wrong, not you. Get it fixed up. My chemistry says I should be killing things and fucking other things all day long, but it's similarly incorrect. Not every female needs my dick, & not every dude needs me to tomahawk his skull.

Not who you are talking to but I can (Mostly) vouch for that. Med do a world of good for most people.

I'm one of the few exceptions myself. Anti-anxiety medication doesn't work fantastically when my family has a massive history of substance abuse and korsakoffs. Just makes my anxiety worse as I double guess my every thought and spend forever self-analysing my mental state. I make do with a lot of meditation and thought pattern recognition my shrink drilled into me instead.

I'm very much an exception though and know a lot of people who are a hell of a lot better off now.

The silliest/surprisingly most effective? Power Posing. Standing straight up, hands on your hips like you are out of a golden age superhero comic. Causes a surprising about of chemical change in the brain and is simple enough you can do it literally anywhere so even if it's not as effective as a full progressive muscle relaxation run for calming me the fuck down I can do it whenever I have any anxiety.

Depression and Anxiety don't go away but man, I'm grateful for my shrinks giving me tools to not let it ruin my life.

Jon Camacho went 7th at LVO this year with the list in the left. He wanted to run a Necron army that specifically did not include the Canoptek Harvest or Destroyer Cult to see if it could work, and it "mostly" did (at least until he came across a guy that used Pale Courts to run 9 units of Warp Spiders).

I personally have to give him credit. The list makes sense overall. The Obelisk and Monolith threaten multiple units at once while requiring heavy AT to kill, the Deathmarks provide insurance versus Skyhammers or WWP DScythes, and he's "tough/fast enough" to do objectives. And just for comedy's sake, the Obelisk can also move 12 and Thunderblitz stuff.

5th place was Alex Fennel running a Destroyer Cult & Harvest, and joining Zahndrekh/Orikan/the Destroyer Lord to the Wraiths as the other version of the Orikan-star.

Psychic Shriek, the main Psychic power worth a damn, does.

>>49983952
My personal beef with both Thunderblitz and Stomp is how they're "power lottery" effects. Either they do nothing, or they're auto-wtf-bbq-hax.

One thing I'm thinking of experimenting with houserule-wise for Stomps is:
-All stomp attacks must be within 2" of the walker performing the stomp attack. No using "stomp" to assault one unit, then hit units on other side of a building.
-Stomps cannot be placed "on top of one another".
-Stomps are "non-randomized." Rather than D3 blasts, which do randomized damage, you instead get *one* AP 2 small blast at the Walker's base strength. You may stomp up to two additional times, but subtract 2 from Strength and add 1 to AP for each additional stomp. For example, a Knight that elects to Stomp may either do one S10 AP 2 stomp, two S8 AP 3 stomps, or 3 S6 AP 4 stomps.
-Any Walker or Monstrous Creature (except for certain odd ones, like Canoptek Spyders) may Stomp. Certain multi-legged ones (Soulgrinders/Defilers) may "double" their Stomps afterwards.

It would be more "reliable" but not as good at auto-nuking stuff. Granted, the main reason people take Stomp is for fishing for that lucky 6 to kill off members of an Invisible Superfriends Thunderwolf army or so. This would make it harder to tarpit rank-and-file Walkers/Monsters in fights.

Just read about the Octarius War and i was wondering how the Orks remained supplied since Nids don't have loot... Can Orks even loot Nids? Is that even possible? Also how is that conflict still going on when all you have to do is bait and run away from the Orks until they get annoyed and fight among themselves.

>>
>>49984306
You must not have read through the recent generals.
>>
>>49984247
Nid chitin is probably hard enough to build with. And the war is still going on because "bait and run" isn't something the nids are interested in doing. They're there in huge numbers and the Orks have a huge warboss to keep them in line. It'll go on forever because neither side can really run out of supplies.
>>
>>49984247
The individual Ork is not that smart, but the bigger Warbosses become more instinctively capable of grasping larger-scale operational doctrine or low kunnin'.

Tyranids do have really big teef. Imperial Armor 8's excerpt on the Kill Tanks mentioned that the Murda Meks of Tigris (the same Forgeworld that used to produce the Fellblade) have several outstanding orders from the Octarian Empire for said tanks, which would imply that even with Orks individually fighting among themselves for individual dominance, there still is some tertiary system of weapon suppliers, defense contractors, etc.

Actually, fuck, that sounds like a baller idea for an Ork-focused Rogue Trader campaign. "Lord Of Waaagh" where the party plays as independent Ork arms dealers for assorted Warbosses, rival Nobs, etc, and travel from system to system to supply large amounts of flashy dakka, and maybe use it for themselves.

why do people complain about twenty year old fluff as if mat ward had a hand in it
>>
>>49984866
Think of it this way.

For 35 points more than an Aegis Defense Line, you get 20 Conscripts and a Priest. You have a mobile Aegis Defense line that occasionally shoots back. It's only another 60 points to add another 20 models to that unit.

"

"The Ultramarines are undoubtedly the best Space Marines ever. Yes, really! Thanks to the heritage of Guilliman and their myriad heroic deeds, the Ultramarines are the exemplars of the Space Marines. With a few fringe exceptions who have severe mutations [Blood Angels] or stolid stubbornness [Space Wolves and Dark Angels] all Space Marine Chapters want to be like the Ultramarines and recognize Marneus Calgar as their spiritual liege."

Matt ward.

When you literally are this fanboy about things and you write the codex for the space marines this way it influences everything.
>>
>>49985186
Consripts are just as good as grots though. I'd rather have a free anti-air unit and a 4+ cover save for my artillery instead of it having its ass in the wind.
>>
>>49984822
Gravhammer wins more tournaments than Tau does.
>>
>>49985212
Free anti-air? Quadguns are not free, they cost and they extra more than you get.

But conscripts + priest is actually very good unit. They cost fuck-all and with obsec they can just run to an objective and keep it. And even a massive 50 dude blob only costs 175 with a priest.

>"The kits in this set are designed primarily for Horus Heresy games, but rules are provided to let you add them to your Warhammer 40,000 games if you want to. You are quite right – currently this is limited to Unbound games, or you and your opponent agreeing they can be included for some other narrative reason.

>Neither force is currently an active military force in the galaxy (The Adeptus Custodes don't leave Terra, and the Sister of Silence have not bean widely active for 9,000 years) , so they don't feature in any current Imperial formations, which tend to reflect active forces at the close of the 41st millennium.

incoming disorganized attempting to be helpful post

Harlequins are a hard army to play, considering even though they hit hard, you have nothing better than t3 5++ and av10 2hp. anywhere, in the entire army.
and you have no weapons over 24"
And you lack good anti tank

The Cegorach's revenge formation Ive gotten good mileage out of. mount up the 3 troupes and max out on haywire cannons.
I believe "classical internet wisdom" dictates taking as many shadowseers as you can.

If you have the points, the caress is the mathematically superior weapon in all situations (literally, someone did the math). But obviously cost more.
You must include the mask of secrets in your army. Its too good to pass up
Deathjesters plus the aformentioned mask of secrets make for some pretty amusing shenangians when your enemy fails their -4 leadership test, and run headlong into your own units, dying instantly.
