In addition, there are what, 105 different combinations? There is no way that each combination could equal each other in power. It's not an investment thing. It's a 'not special' thing. The whole point of the judge promos is that they're a reward, a "thank you" to judges, and that's why they very frequently get things like new art, or the alt-borders (like on Noble Hierarch and Crucible of Worlds). When they take the judge foil art and put it on a reprint of the card, it makes the judge foil less special.

I need to know more of the new commanders. But the only one with an overall gameplan that I think is powerful enough and also appeals to me is artifacts. A lot of the time, people put ramp into Maelstrom to hit maelstrom sooner, because if you really wait until turn 8 to cast him, you're going to lose because no one will let a wanderer player fuck around unhindered for that long.

So most of those decks play ramp spells, which lets you cast maelstrom earlier, but suck dick to cascade into because it's a fat fizzle.

Obviously you don't hit actual lands.

brother i'm already being hated out. this deck used to be an endrek deck that specializes in creating tokens, saccing them and doing absolutely fucking nothing. i think i had a total of 3 shitty wincons in this deck, and it wasn't resilient enough to win the long game either. i would just play 25 cards in like 4 turns and accomplish nothing. i would usually get focused down first as well for reasons like having the most health or most permanents or something. i did once empty everyones hands out with sadistic hypnotist so maybe that's the reason

so anyway this deck is going to become me screaming "get the fuck away from me you fucks" at my attacking friends while draining them and killing all their creatures with grave pact

so far this deck tends to make people really mad on xmage so i think i'm entering some special sort of cancer zone i haven't really entered before

Yes, you WILL have to run a ton of ramp for a commander that costs fucking 8 and is likely played at serious business table. Have fun casting maelstrom into a fucking sol ring and yavimaya elder.

Meanwhile new guy can cascade a fuckload more per turn and CONTROL the cascade cost, making it way easier to hit certain cards (ancestral visions, hypergenesis, lotus bloom).

You barely even need ramp, just fixing.
