How does this image make you feel /tg/?
>>
It makes me feel excited

I could get to sort all those cards!
>>
>>49944441
I see a Swords of Revealing Light and a dinosaur I recognize but can't name with like a 1400 ATK, so I think this is relatively early game stuff, back when the Blue Eyes was useful, and a 1900 ATK level 5 normal monster was considered reasonable.

Mostly it just makes me sad that Toons were never a viable option.
>>
>>49944656
Toons are decent right now.

And about OP, that image is how i feel when someone uses lawnmower, you see a faggot with no extra deck and 60 cards, first tought must be "ha this faggot sucks" and then he drops his entire deck and makes you his bitch
>>
>>49944656
>back when the Blue Eyes was useful
So anywhere from a month ago to right now. Or have you not seen any recent meta decks?
>>
>>49945132
Nope. I was meaning "Useful on its own". Recently I've gotten too busy to play many games, and since work required me to move away all my friends are halfway across the states. So, not much with the new stuff. Last stuff I saw introduced was synchro shit, and that was weird.
>>
>>49945168
BEWD was never meta. NEVER.

Unless that you're talking about useful as "muh nostalgia, muh animu".

Feels good!

Now what?
>>
Reminds me that I'm glad I quit the game after playing from 2002-2014 due to the players being meta loving dick nibblers, also reminds me that the final tournament I played I won by wiping a Ghostrick deck with Tyrant Dragons
>>
>>49946614
Come back to the game. Play Subterrors.
>>
Why does /tg/ hate Yugioh
>>
>>49947918
To make a massive generalisation, because we played it 10-15 years ago and it's unrecognisable as a game now. To make it worse, the cards lack consistent formatting, useful keywords, and the font is tiny, making it just kind of a pain in the ass to work out what the game's like now.
>>
>>49946836
The over-focus on archetypes is what killed it along with competitive players being a bunch of meta loving netdeckers, shit even my local game store has discontinued yugioh tournaments because of how shitty the players were towards other customers and store staff not to mention the fact that the boosters and single cards on sale at the shop don't sell which led to yugioh products being liquidated

There is literally nothing wrong with archetypes. Without them, you'd just get decks like Goat Control or TeleDAD, which is just throwing the best cards in a deck. People would still complain that the best decks is too strong and that their favorite deck can't compete.
Recently, the game has been moving more towards mixing engines.
>>
>>49947964
Got it in one.

I dislike floor carpets, why did you post this OP?
>>
>>49947964
But the game is much more fun that it was before, at least in my opinion. The TCG meta sucks right now because Jackson 5 is annoying to play against. Once the next banlist drops, the meta should become pretty diverse, assuming Jackson 5 gets hit and a preemptive Terrortop ban.
>>
>>49944441
Like you missed those digits
>>49944444
>>
>>49948352
>Jackson 5
dude, I play the game and have no fucking idea what the shit you're talking about. care to elaborate?
>>
>>49944441
Top comfy.
>>
>>49945318
Before the first f&l list there was a combo deck with 3 reborn, 3 blue eyes and stuff like card of destruction. It sucked, oh wait. You said it was never meta. You're right. Even now it's only okay.
>>
>>49944441
Makes me want to play the eternal BDIF.

>>

Well, so long as they're happy I suppose. I wish I could be that happy.
Wish I had people to be happy with.
>>
>>49944848
Lawnmower? I've never heard this term in the context of YGO before. Can you explain?
>>
>>49944441
12 again
>>
>>49954005
Lawnmowing Next Door (OCG name)/The Grass is Always Tastier on the Other Side

If you have more cards in your Deck than your opponent: Send cards from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard until you have the same number of cards in your Deck as your opponent.

Basically, rewards you for running 60 card decks with a lot of Graveyard based effects.
>>
>>49954622
Works great with Lightsworns too, if they were still good.
>>
>>49948054
The focus on archetypes has been there since GX, and everything before that was shitty Yata-lock and boring ass cookie decks.
>>
>>49948116
There is something wrong with archetypes as strict as Yugioh enforces, the decks practically build themselves once you understand card evaluation.
>>
>>49954721
That's an inherent failure, in many peoples' eyes, of the game's design. Since the game lacks a resource system outside of your other creatures they had to invent hyper-synergistic interactions, forcing players to pick one pigeonholing archetype based on which cards the developers say they can use together. As someone who likes to build and tweak and overhaul and test decks it's an instant turn off to me that when I pick a core of a deck it dictates what the rest pf my deck can be.
>>
>>49948116
>>49954721
Another problem I find with you gi oh. Due to its design you either have to have pre determined archetypes that fit a very specific design, or you have every deck putting the absolute best cards ever that you would be stupid not to use. Makes drafting nearly non existent for the game.
>>
>>49944441
Bunch of shit cards being tossed, nothing unusual here.

There are several Duel Masters cards there.
Also another game who's name escapes me.
>>
>>49948116
>There is literally nothing wrong with archetypes
It reduces overlap between decks.

Whenever you turnover decks you need to buy more cards.
Which means that *someone* needs to be opening more boosters.
i.e. It's a marketing strategy

Also, despite there being a similar variety of decks, there are more "good cards" to learn.
Which is a barrier to entry for new players.
>>
>>49955067
so when Magic isn't beginner friendly it's right, but when YGO does it is wrong?
>>
>>49944441
It makes me wish I could be that happy or excited about things again. It makes me feel very very very very very jealous.
>>
>>49955136
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't play either game, just describing the trait.

Though from what I hear, WotC's efforts to welcome beginners have mostly been to the detriment of the gameplay or the players.
Then again, I've been getting my news from /tg/. Take that claim with some salt.

I think they are aware that such a thing exists, but those decks are normally smited as soon as possible. They don't sell cards. Remember PEPe? Remember HAT? ABC isn't quite the same thing but it's time in the shitter is coming.
>>
>>49957089
>smited as soon as possible
>meme act
1st one lasted for awhile in ocg and got hit quick in tcg so it wouldnt completely dominate when they wanted to sell monarchs around the same time
abc will last for a bit as well since its another structure
>>
>>49957205
I guess I cam agree with that, since it's a structure. Monarch one did decent as a result.

>>49960276
It's the wrong board because the only card game allowed on /tg/ is Magic. That's why there's always like 10 MtG threads. Anything else just dies. Yugioh, Force of Will, Vanguard, WIXOSS.
