Almost no race in 40k has tanks like this. And it kinda makes sense in a world where there are ultra-powerful closerange AT-weapons, entities that can rip a MBT in half and handheld objectives that could cripple a even demi-gods like battletitans and literal demigods.

I'm gonna make a vanguard veteran squad out of Iron armor marines, but what should I give them if I want them to go after 4-5 toughness enemies? I was thinking all power axes to maximize attacks and one thunder hammer because it comes in the kit and looks great.

Also what's a good way to fill out a battle demi company? I was thinking either a pair of land speeders or a couple bikes and an attack bike.

>Almost no race in 40k has tanks like this.

The Guard have plenty.

The Thunderer, Griffin, Demolisher, and Minotaur all come to mind.

The Orks also have a variant of the Battle Wagon armed with a Supa Kannon that has fairly short range I believe.
>>
>>49928118
Yeah, I was gonna say, last time I fought Guard as Tau they had a tank or two pushing up with their infantry cowered behind it.

Thats why I had the idea.
>>
>>49928118
>The Guard have plenty.
Griffon and Minotaur are close-support artillery so dont exactly count as "going forward and pushing"-tanks.

Also in-game Demolisher and and Thunderers are woefully bad at their job. Their weapons have always been more like a slap of wet towel than bunkerbustering forces of nature and they have never stood a chance in setting where they should excel in fluff (cityfights for example).
>>

So next weekend my shop is running a 750 duals Tournament (1500 a side, 750 per player.) The only requirement is to only use a CAD.
I recently started AM and was going to enter with my friend who plays Space Wolves.
This is the list we figured out so far:

750 Astra Militarum CAD

Tank Commander (340pts)
>2 Executioners
2x10 Veterans (155pts ea)
>Veteran Sergeant, 6x Veteran w/ Lasgun, 3x Veteran w/ Meltagun, Chimera
2x1 Armoured Sentinel (50pts ea)
>Lascannon

750 Space Wolves CAD

Wolf Lord (215pts)
>Thunderwolf, Runic Armour, Black Death, Storm Shield
2x5 Blood Claws (110pts)
>Plasma Gun, Drop Pod
4 Thunderwolf Cavalry Space Wolves (315pts)
>2x Powerfist/StormShield, 2x Wolf Claw/StormShield

Is it possible to build a good, Ork tank/walker list? I have a Dread Mob, but I want more killy/shooty and I want it to be big shooty. Are the only good tanks the orks have forge world?

Should I take a five man squad of skitarii infiltrators to give my boys some melee power, or a culexus for anti-psyker? It's part of an escalation league which is why I need it to fit in at 250 points or under

get a cadian defence force if you can find it
if not get a start to collect + genestealer armored claw (it's cheaper than buying the IG stuff separately) then you can sprinkle on some ogryns if you like
if you're willing to spend some extra money i'dd also buy a priest or a primaris psyker

Well as good as one can keeping in mind the issues Walkers and Tanks can tend to have.

> Are the only good tanks the orks have forge world?

Yes. Also the source of the only decent Ork Transports outside of the Battle Wagon.

For building a tank list, you may want to look at Big Trakks, Gun Wagons, Mekboy Junkas, and Grot Tanks, the first three having access to some pretty good guns.

The Kill Tanks and Battle Fortresses (Skullhamma included) are also worth a look.

That being said you may have to work through the rules as all of the forgeworld stuff is outdated.

And when it comes to Walker armies, forgeworld's Dred Mob is usually seen as superior to the Dread Mob from Waaagh! Ghazghkull, though this opinion can be subjective for many.
>>
>>49928001
Well orks have gunwagons, looted vehicles (which still count as tanks) and big trakks, but they all also can be used as transports as well as being tanks. There's also grot tanks and grot mega-tanks which have a max range of 36" with their big shootas. And technically orks have enough walkers that could "count" as tanks as they move up with them to get into the thick of it.

>>49928118
That supa kanon is 60" range battle cannon, which is really nice, though it either removes or reduces transport capacity to I think 5-10 guys.
>>
Would this be sufficient for a tourny list? Ive tested it already against tau and got buttraped by interceptor and tide spam my shit generalship and rolling aside but would it hold up in general?

>>49928564
I'd include the Mek walkers too, cause the Kustom Meka-dread wants to get to CC, as does the Morkanaut, and even the Big Mek Stompa. If they got KFFs they are better for runnin' with tha boyz than tha normal ones.

>>
>>49928607

Kill Tanks include a variant with a 7" D blast, which is really the only one that's worth taking, aside from the coolness factor. Can't go wrong with D, but some players might object to you taking it.

Trouble is, at 1500, if you're taking the Dread Mob formation, you're really out of points. If you're building via FW that's completely different.

Do you play an army that isn't very good but you love playing it anyway?

I'm a Blood Angels player and I can't bring myself to play any other armies, I just love the looks and assault focused tactics too much.

Space Wolves are arguably better at assault and they just don't do it for me.
Plus, its pretty clear someone at GW favors them.
Just compare all the goodies they got in Curse of the Wulfen to Angel's Blade, there's really no comparison.
>>
>>49928720
Belly cannon isn't as effective as it sounds.
>>
>>49928672
it's stomp attacks aren't bad in CC, and it's usually going to be waddling around with it's fair share of meks and other boyz inside it so its not a bad idea to get it mixed up in some combat. The only problems I've had with it in games is deepstriking anti-tank units. You need to actually bubble wrap your stompas with boyz or other units to protect them, or fill it with enough meks that it doesn't care.
>>
>>49928720

The Belly Kannon is a Killkannon with, on average, a 10.5" blast size and way more range.

Killkannons aren't threatening because they're Str 7, so they won't even instant-kill T4 multiple wound models, and they're only Ap3, and Orks don't tend to have too many issues dealing with 3+ saves, or rather, stuff that has 3+ saves. It's also worthless against MCs, which take at most one wound, and it doesn't ignore cover.

I am not even sure there is demand. The store that closed was just a few minutes away. They had trouble pulling in people for anything, even FNM. Before that store opened there was a GW store near here. That closed down too.

The first time I went it happened to be their last day in business. A couple of people were playing Age of Sigmar, and the owner was justifiable saddened that his business was going under.

Google says there is a group of people that meets in a store even further away than the one still in business, but they seem like elitist pricks (1850 or 2250 points only, fully painted only, powergaming and waac expected)

>>
>>49929153
>What's wrong with teleport homers and Chaos icons?

Deep Striking should be a risk. I'm okay with things reducing the risk (drop it to 1D6 scatter, or allow rerolls) but auto-passing removes the element of risk. Drop pods are obviously the biggest offenders here but no-one should be straight up ignoring gameplay elements.

>Should we also remove benefits those things give to Heavy and Rapid Fire weapons?

Sounds good to me. Heavy and Rapid Fire are supposed to make the player make a decision; move, and gain a better position but with reduced firepower, or remain put, and have better firepower in possibly a worse position. Again, removing choice just reduces tactics.

>What test in particular are most troubling to you?

Half the armies in the game ignore Fear. Now this is a tricky one because ATSKNF really should make Marines immune to Fear, fluffwise. But you could equally argue that a squad of Orks that's really fired up! fighting in close combat should ignore Fear too, and they don't. But making Orks immune to it would remove really the last army in the game that really cares about Fear, and I'm not in favour of that, even as an Ork player.

But really, no-one should be auto-passing anything, Farseers should not be able to suffer Perils and just ignore it by burning a Warp Charge. Ignore Cover should not completely nullify cover, except on Flamers.
>>
>>49929004
I don't really have an issue with any one of the Drop Pods characteristics other than the retarded FAQ ruling. It's just that all of it combined is too much. They practically can't mishap AND they get to bring 50% in turn 1 AND they get to move 6" to both protect themselves from templates and mitigate scatter AND they only cost 35 points.
>>
>>49929153
There's a lot of other methods of perfect deepstrike, like Webway portals.

And as a Dark Eldar player, Space Marines being autoimmune to our leadership shenanigans is balls.
>>49929197
Daemons still get perfect deepstrike icons.
>>
>>49929219
Chaos Icons, when they still worked, required multiple expensive or restricted units to get themselves into the right place at the right time.

There's nothing wrong with ignoring rules if it's properly balanced.

Let's be honest, when you're complaining about Relentless, you're complaining about Bikes. And I totally agree, bikes are some bullshit. There needs to be a major reevaluation of how bikes work in game and how bike units are costed and purchased. Chaos Terminators being able to rapid-fire with combi-bolters before charging isn't an issue. Relentless Grav-Bikers shredding anything that moves from 24" away while simultaneously zooming around the board capturing objectives is a problem.

Ignore Cover should be a scalable ability. Ignores Cover (X), where X is the degree to which cover saves are minimized.

Far Seers don't ignore the Perils, just the wound caused. It's also perfectly fluffy.

While I agree with you that a lot of special rules have gotten out of hand, I don't like your all or nothing approach.

>Eldar Farseers ignoring perils
They're the only ones that get to do that and it does come at a penalty, albit a much better one than the actual perils. Very few other armies have options to dodge perils, all I can think of is the Cadian Psykana Division always taking a wound on perils instead of rolling. For everyone else though, that risk is still there.

>Ignores Cover shouldn't exist
See, I disagree. Even in the grimderpness of the 41st millennium, there's still guided munitions, or other wack ass ways to ignore cover, like the Death Korps' mole mines. It's a special rule that should have a niche, but has been given out far too widely to the point where a lot of cover is obsolete.

You can see that they're kind of moving the direction that you're talking about though. Look at melee weapons as they've changed recently. A lot of AP2 has been reduced to AP3 to lessen how often armor is just flat out ignored. Granted, the assault phase didn't need the nerf, but toning down the wide spread "Ignores Game Element X" is a good idea.
>>
>>49929229
But Anon, Steel Rain is in the Codex Astartes.
>>

>>
>>49929347
Sure, and Space Marines should have access to Drop Pods, and said Drop Pods should be a viable approach to playing Space Marines. They just need toned down.
>>
>>49929334
>While I agree with you that a lot of special rules have gotten out of hand, I don't like your all or nothing approach.

Well you're not wrong. It really should be addressed on a case-by-case basis, but the timeframe for that is so long, and GW's track-record with balancing codices against each other so poor, that I just doubt this will happen.

With regards to Ignore Cover, Flamers having it is just fine, from both a gameplay and fluff perspective. You're coating the area in flame or daemonic energy; no way to hide from that. Flamers are also short range, so getting them close enough to fire is difficult, but rewarding if you pull it off.

Actual guided munitions that emulate that should be extremely rare. Even a guided missile, unless it can fly through a window, isn't going to completely ignore the cover provided by a ruined building. As you say, it's been given out like candy, but by the same token, Stealth and Shrouded has gone from something quite rare to something being handed out all over the place, including to units that hand it out to other units. It's an escalating arms race which just leaves the armies without access to it in the dust.

As to Ap2 being lessened, how recent are we talking here? Because Wulfen having Str 8 AP2 at initiative is fucking bonkers.
>>
>>49929364
As far as I know, there are zero rumors about anything Dark Eldar anytime soon.

That said, I would be surprised if they don't at least get a new supplement with some detachments in it before/during War in the Webway early next year. They and Grey Knights are the only major factions lacking the new meta-detachments, and Grey Knights will probably get their's in Wulfen 2.

Anon, don't listen to 1d4chan, like everything on the internet including this post it needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Dark Eldar are mid-tier right now. We don't have anything broken, but our Codex doesn't have any gaping flaws. The unfortunate part about our hyper glass cannon army is that every unit needs to be played just right, or it's a complete waste of points. Many other armies are far more forgiving on this aspect, but I can assure you there's plenty of great things inside our dex for it's cost.

>NS/SR raiders with warriors/trueborn for ungodly amounts of poison hits
>Stuffing a Venom full of medusae and laughing at Infantry as you drop 5 templates and a dozen poison shots into them for pennies
>fresh Wytches getting into CC after they hit turn 4 CC
>Succubus with an Archite Glaive
>Haywire/Heat Lance Scourges
>Spamming cheap as fuck Mandrakes to infiltrate all over points and soak fire more valuable things should be taking

Basically, get gud and you can make sure out of the entire dex.
>>

All this shit makes my heart hurt so much, 8 years ago when I came to /tg/ it was because of DOW and 40k was everywhere and was super popular.

Come on mate, even back in 5th it was clear to any real DE player that Reavers and blaster spam was the answer to DE's problem.
>>
>>49929422
It's true, believe me as someone who highly relies on my cover saves (Dark Eldar), I feel the pain of it, and agree it should be rare, but you're right, it never does get toned down. Only escalated.

Soon all Dark Eldar will be Stealth/Shrouded with Dodge expanded to all units and working outside of Assault, and Orks will gain Rage, Furious Charge, Fleet, and +3 attacks whenever the player yells "WAAAGH!!"

And I hadn't really looked into the Woofen yet, that's fucking insane and makes me upset that they took away my Huskblade's AP2.

Why is it that tg focuses on tournaments and WAAC tactics when the vast majority of 40k players don't go to tournaments or do anything outside of their local groups?

Guess what? If you don't think you'll have a fun time, no one is making you play against some eldar or tau list.
There can't be a meta if your gaming group takes a stand and says rule #1 is don't be a dick to the guy across the table.

It will make up it's points in Marines eaten in one shooting phase, so yeah. Pennies.

>120 points for 4 deepstriking 24" Haywire JSJ goodness
I don't even need to explain myself. Anyone who brings vehicles cries bitter tears.

>36 points for infiltrators with Stealth/Shrouded
You put them on a capture point, forget about them, and they will be so worth it if you have the Elites slot and some points to fill.

Obviously Blasterborn in a venom is good. It's why everyone knows it and shoots them down first. I was just pointing out other useful units in the dex and that was just what I thought of off the top of my head. You're an idiot if you think they're the only units worth taking. Also, Reavers are trash now after the Bladevane nerf. It's like you haven't even looked at the new dex.

Offer to nerf the Wraith-nouns in exchange for making the Dark Eldar stuff more functional.

The answer to "GW is shit at balancing and half the armies in the game can't have fun games" isn't to throw more money at GW, it's to balance the game yourself.

180pts that potentially dies if the vehicle it's in gets hit by anything S5 or higher thanks to open topped = explosion results

120pts that get hit by interceptor and if they don't they probably die the turn after they land.

>mandrakes
They're awful. Absolutely terrible. They have no save and T3 with WS4 meaning most enemies will hit them on 4's anyway and any MEQs or better will stand a pretty good chance of wiping them out. At 3 models per squad you just cannot seriously suggest they will achieve anything but be ignored for 4 turns before anything with a flamer or CQC ability gets in and mulches them. I actually had to look them up again since it's been years and while they have been buffed significantly since the days of 5th they're still trash and probably one of the worst units in the game when factored against their slot, their cost and the abilities.

I wasn't even talking blasterborn I'm talking like you could take max troops worth of kabalites with a blaster each in venoms, 6x6 units of reavers and maybe if you really give a shit take 2x3 medusae in venoms for your HQs since they are HQs when not supporting an archon.
>>
>>49929828

>>
>>49929825
Cool thanks, I've got one assault termie squad and another from the dark vengeance kit + a ravenwing assault squadron kit, so roughly 6 bikes+attack bike and was gonna make a squad of three tornado landspeeders. Is that shroud speeder still good and any suggestions for an HQ?

Hmm guys is it common to want to collect every army in 40k at once but just all the cheese. I've sorta narrowed it down to legio furuons and maybe some military and cult from 30k for my general imperium stuff but I have tau and want marines and want to make my mechanicum thallax count as necrons and want to use my AoS orcs in 40k and build big skaven that count as gene stealers jiand nids and right now I basically have model ideas for every 40k army you could build and literally want to do it beside eldar (that I'm waiting on for a update) is this common sometimes I see people that collect every army brake down and leave hobbie or have hording problems but if I ligit justify every thing I buy with it being good and also looking nice am I ok? In aos the factions have helped me not drop this deep and maybe due to less understanding of the lore in aos I just want two army's I can use from opposing factions to shoe games to friends. But in 40k I want the ability to run every kind of lost that's good regardless of army but with some logic for example ibi can substitute some thing from a list with some thing I already have that's 95% as effective I'll do that instead of rebuy another same thing but trailing tg ad 40k stuff just made me realise the only way I could have fun in 40k is if I did this n didn't limit myself to one army. Maybe successful marketing but having some one that can literally pull every thing that's currently good out of his bags is that really a WAAC player or just a really commuted gw fan that wants to be on top of things while not tied to a single force? Currently just building one army thou I guess the assembly time and stuff might hold me back and make this almost impossible

I've run a bunch of numbers on Nobz. They are comparablish to Chaos Chosen as Chosen are the same points per model and fulfil a similar role. Chosen are better at ranged combat, have more weapon options, better Ld, access to Fearless, and more other kinds of upgrades, while Nobz have easier access to kombiweapons, but no combimelta or combiplasma, and better access to assault/open-topped vehicles.

Chosen are considered bad in general, but nobz on the whole are even worse!

Just got Nov WD, HH Custodes get Krak and Plasma grenades.

Spear Custodes have Preturnatural Skill, The Sodalitym Inviolable Psyche and Bulky special rules.

Preturnatural Skill: +1 to Initiative in the Assault if their WS is equal or above the majority WS of the unit or units they are fighting.

Sodality: Units made up of models with this rule get a unit coherancy of 3 inches instead of 2. They can also attempt to regroup with an unmodified Leadership test regardless of casualties taken or other effects.

Inviolable Psyche: Immune to Fear and can re-roll deny the witch.

Armour has 2+ Save and 5+ Invuln.

Guardian Spears have the Lightning Blows rule, meaning on 6s they generate extra attacks. Those attacks don't generate new ones.

Shield guys have Praesidium Shields, 4+ re-rollable Invuln.

Spears are Str User but +1 on charge, 3 AP but 2 on the charge, Specialist weapon, Warblades are User Stre, 3 AP, Rending and specialist weapon.

There's going to be a bunch more of SoS and Custodes and other stuff in a FW book Horus Heresy 7: Talons of the Emperor.

These guys being available to any Loyalist faction using "Agents of the Emperor" line of the Age of Darkness Allies chart.

Well, they got grenades, which is nice, but holy shit they gave them BETTER storm shields? I kind of expected the 5+ invulnerable save anyway, but these are now better in almost every way to DWK or Paladins, let alone regular Termies.

The fuck are you talking about, what rules have you been reading?

They only cost 50ppm, they do have Eternal Warrior, and they're all Elites.

The GW rules that were posted are also temporary holdovers until they're printed in an official book, in which case we will definitely see changes that will probably make them even more powerful, just like what happened with Purestrain Genestealers between the Ghosar Quintus datasheets and the Genecult Codex.

WD guy here.. There's some pretty nice terrain pieces coming.

Haemotrope Reactors for 25 pounds/40$, Magewraith Throne/Balewind Vortex at 10 pounds/15$

Also really nice Hero bases. 8 bases per pack, 2 32mm, 5 40mm, 1 60mm.

One of them is a shattered Russ turret. 20 pounds/35$.

>inb4 "why doesn't Guard use autoguns instead of lasguns then"

Because autogun and lasgun fill in more or less the same need, lasguns are just simpler and easier to supply. No regiment is shotguns only, so the extra hassle in supply and maintenance is acceptable, since there is no alternative for it.

What do you think of this GW KT list /tg/?
Inquisition Henchmen Warband

Chimera - 2x Hbolter, psybolt, dozer blade. 65pts

1x Crusader (leader) 15 pts
8x Acolyte w/ storm bolter/chainsword, 7pts each.
2x Acolyte w/ plasma gun/chainsword and carapace. Specialists, Master-crafted and Preferred enemy. 18pts each.
1x Acolyte w/ melta gun, combi-flamer and carapace. Specialist, Executioner. 28pts.

Special weapon acolytes hide in Chimera and shoot anything remotely dangerous, Melta guy flames any big groups of chaff from the hatch.
Crusader hides in the chimera unless there is some ranged specialist I want dead, where he hops out and hopes to live till next turn.
Rest of the Acolytes go wherever.
>>
>>49931235

>>

Once you hit a laser powerful enough to start flash-vaporising material reflective armour becomes a lot less practical, the Tau have something on their suits that disperses light somehow IIRC, but it's not a practical defence to rely on primarily. Yes, all it does is focus the photons through a lens into a beam, turning whatever it touches into plasma causing rapid expansion and heat-dumping.

Trying out corsairs - how does this look for a first list? Units with Rage are forced to charge the closest unit to them, even if they shot something else, which is why I've specified which units were given rage.
Plan is to have the Prince join Baron+Cloud Dancer Felarchs and go MEQ hunting, use the reavers to pop transports for others to charge, and dark lances for good measure. The void dreamer is going with the Voidstorms and Baron #2 to zip them across the board for light infantry hunting.

EC Corsair Fleet Raiding Company [FW]) (1500pts)

Command Crew (250pts)
Corsair Prince (140pts) Forceshield, Reaper of the Outer Dark, Void Sabre, Wild Psyker (ML1), Cloud Dancer

Corsair Void Dreamer (110pts) Corsair Jet Pack, ML3, Rage, Shimmershield

For 135pts. Meanwhile a meltavet squad in a Chimera costs 155pts., causes 2 hits, and has to survive the trip to within 12" of the target to even have a chance at them. Most likely facing the front armour of the enemy and most likely they're much well protected by cover from hits coming from the front than from the sides.

Reposting from the kill team general for a bit of feedback as a new player.

Ordering some Death Korps this month, going to build a kill team first. Hows this look? I'm worried its a bit fragile.

Grenadier Squad - 10 models
Watchmaster w/ hotshot laspistol & ccw [Team Leader]
Grenadier w/ Meltagun [Eagle Eye]
Grenadier w/ Hotshot Lasgun [Executioner]
7 Grens w/ Hotshots

Combat Engineers - 5 models
Watchmaster w/ Shotgun & Meltabombs
Engineer w/ Plasmagun [Preferred Enemy]
3 Engineers w/ Shotguns

Frag, krak, and carapace armor are standard for both unit selections. With what I'm buying I'll also have some flamers and grenade launchers I could swap in along with a heavy stubber but I'm not entirely sure if I want to pack more anti infantry or have a bit of AT.
>>
>>49931843

Yeah, I can take storm chimeras and centaur carriers. I'd have to cut a decent amount for them though. Storm chimeras are 75 points but at least have some cool stuff over the normal variants like an autocannon and track guards. Centaur carriers are open topped and fast but have like no weapons beyond a heavy stubber but only engineers can take them for 40 points.

As a side note grens are minimum ten men from the codex I'm using so thats 120 points just to take a squad of them. Platoons are 190 points so things are tight to fit into 200.
>>
Why does GW now hate Black Templars so much?

>own Codex gets removed
>have own infantry
>can't use it for any formation
>have a Reculsiarch that was inseparable from his command squad in lore
>can't have him join a command squad to form a Reclusiam squad
>Chapter Master holds the reforged blade of Regal Dorn
>barely better than a Power Sword
>best formation for the is Skyhammer
>doesn't fit their fluff at all
>chapter tactics are borderline unusable because nobody in their right mind would engage them after killing a model during shooting and half the time you do manage to charge you have to hope that none of your crusader die
>>
>>49928486
Taking nothing but MEQ is silly. Termies, centurions, dreads, and land raiders are all your friend.

Also why are the sky hammer devs both 10 man? The fuck are half the marines gonna do? Plink away at a riptide with their bolters? The devs are basically a suicide unit. They come in and fucking wreck one enemy unit, and then get smoked because they're a massive target. Having 5 marines as a buffer doesn't really change that.

Fuck that shit. Give every Founding chapter their own codex (including successor chapters) to show that 10k years of existence has changed their ways and means of war, albeit slowly. Ultramarine codex is just a few pages in the vanilla SM codex. Supplements are for subfactions that have a reason to be significantly deviant (Black Templar) from their founding chapter or are significant later founding chapters.

Bonus points if GW lets the fans influence which chapters get a supplement. Grey Knights, BTs, Deathwatch would all be supplements. If the fans love the Blood Ravens or the Raptors or Exorcists or whatever, GW takes it into consideration when they look to releasing their further supplements.

Mate, the whole point of them all being in the same codex is that they all accepted the Codex Astartes, which uniformed everything.

Rate my list for ITC play.

++Necron CAD++
HQ: 2 Necron Overlords w/ Warscythe, Phase Shifter, Gauntlet of Flame and Command Barge w/ Gauss Cannon - 190 x 2 = 380. One of them is the Warlord.

Troops: 3 units of 5 Immortals w/ Gauss Blasters - 85 × 3 = 255

Elites: 2 units of 5 Flayed Ones - 65 x 2 = 130

Fast Attack: 2 units of 3 Tomb Blades w/ TL Gauss Blaster & Nebuloscope - 60 x 2 = 120

Heavy Support - 3 Annihilation Barges - 120 x 3 = 360

++Tau Armored Interdiction Cadre++

3 Hammerheads w/ Ion Cannon & TL SMS - 125 x 3 = 375

Skyray Squadron of 2, w/ TL SMS - 230

Total - 1850

That's 10 AV 13 hulls on the board.

Flayed Ones are bubblewrap, everything else shoots. Tomb blades moveblock/grab maelstrom objectives, Immortals camp objectives and harass.

The Armored Interdiction Cadre gets to nominate a point on the map each turn and reroll to-hit anything within 6" of that point each turn. I basically have 3 twin-linked Battle Cannons. The Skyrays alpha-strike a trouble unit, or do AA/Markerlight support.

For ITC, Invisibility just means BS 1 instead of snapshots. This lets me Blast, Flamer, or use Tesla. For Nova or other settings where Invisibility uses BRB rules, drop the Flame Gauntlets and replace one of the Annihilation Barges with a Culexus.

Aside from it's houserule changes to invisibility, D weapons, vehicle weapon LOS radius and implemented save limitations it's pretty much identical to the GW FAQs and only contains common sense rules or reminders of rules in the BRB.

Only decent thing is it's missions.

Infiltrators
+shit loads of high strength attacks (who in their right mind uses the power swords)

Either a short range anti-tank unit (Admittedly they will kill literally any vehicle they get within 12" of) or a unit that can kill pretty much any infantry in the game reliably.

>Would you say it's better to have a poorly painted army because you put the effort in?

No.
Because if your intention IS to paint them it means you'll have to strip them and waste time.

Personally I try only to play smaller games where most of my guys are painted, but my crowd likes larger games so I am forced to bring the greytide. (As in they told me they'd rather play 1850-2000 vs primed vs 1000-1250 painted)

Drones score, that rule disappeared. Drones are passengers so they can shoot another target than the tank, which is good.
Ignore cover doesn't matter so much, since your two skyrays with their 4 markerlights can give you ignore cover ion cannons

You would have several units of drones that can go hide on objectives, which is very useful. Also disembark, run, jump jet move in assault for linebreaker and such.

I am starting Space Marines, after playing various armies from 4th edition.

I wanna play my "dream" army, pre-heresy Thousand Sons, and I am going to start with a Burning of Prospero box.

Of course, I will use them as 30k marines as soon as the Inferno book gets released, but right now I can't even make a decent psyker marines army in a normal 30k legion, because psykers in that thing aren't viable.

I want to know how to make a Space Marines army based on Psychic powers, using the models from BoP, and I really don't know how to make an efficient 1850 points list with at least a librarian conclave, possibly 2 librarian conclaves.

I would like to use Sevrin Loth (count as Hator Maat) and Tigurius (Ahriman) in my army, and it should be something with a low-model, elite team because of the thousand sons.

TL;DR how to make a viable psychic focused Space marines army.

I was thinking about using a lot of Sternguard, using LVL 1 psykers from the conclave as sergeant for the teams, and i don't know what else.

Please help

>how to make a viable psychic focused Space marines army.
Depends on what role you want the libbys to fill: support or deathstars.
If it's the former, you'd want to minimize the cost of libbys, thew goal to bring more mastery levels and have increased movement. The 2 most common support roles would be force multipliers (casting buffs on other units) or "ranged support" throwing out tons of stuff like witchfires and other powers designed to deal damage to the enemy.

For the latter, it's a deathstar. Tiggy conclave and either a loth or ozark conlave, with the goal of buffing tiggy into a close combat monster.

How you build the rest of the list all depends on what role you want your libbys to fill.
>>
>>49933703
Drones have to shoot the same target as their vehicle unless they disembark. Also, I'm thinking "ignore cover" for certain msu threats that aren't worth dumping mass marketlights on (3-man Reavers, Lictorspam, etc), as well as attritioning down Scatpacks.
>>
>>49934155
Dark eldar have been in a bad spot for a while, they've been left behind by creep and the new FAQ disallowing passengers to shoot normally out of jinking transports hurt them badly.
They rely on cover to last past turn 1 so anything "ignores cover" will fuck them.

Wolves are as decent as any marine faction but have a emphasis on melee.
The problem is, with the power creep being what it is, melee units these days are rated by how many space marines they can bench press before they get to attack.

Thunder wolves have high toughness and storm shields for a 3++, wulfen have loads stupidly high strength, ap2 attacks at initiative, FnP and storm shields and both are very fast movers. They're so expensive you wont have the points for more than two squads on a list so players naturally tend to give them a ton of psychic support like reollable saves and shit which turns them in to expensive death stars.

>>
>>49934380
Use the Malleus or Xenos rules, you can kit either out for shooting or assauly. For shooting, use a psyker in termie armour with a psycannon, probably the best choice.
if you go for that, maybe get a Grey Knight of some description and swap the head for an Inquisitor? Or just use Coteaz.
If Xenos, give him a conversion beamer and use a regular Inquistor model holding an esoteric Admech gun of some kind.
>>
>>49934343
There is lots of cool fluff.

There is a story about a GSC that managed to take over a flotila of ships and went on a crusade to infect more worlds. Nurgle was bored and used a warp storm to dump them right in the middle of his Garden. He then proceeded to fuck with them about, then let them out. So they were GSC still, but were infected with Nurgle shit. It implied they might have turned to Chaos, but who knows.

Basically, Genestealers prey on humans as they're the most populous, but since cults can take decades or centuries to get strong enough to fuck the planet, by then an invasion from Tau, Orks, Chaos, Eldar or Necrons happen. If they control the planet after winning it, GSC will launch attacks and infect them (bar Necrons I guess?). Or, the GSC uses the 3rd party invasion to launch their uprising and it becomes a threeway.
>>
>>49934114
>Dark Eldar try to be fast and high damage in exchange for being fragile but I generally find them to not be very fast or high damage, just fragile.

The problem isn't access to psychic characters, it's using the other shit with it.

I was thinking of alot of sternguard in pods, a small deathstar with loth, and tigurius buffing shit all around.

With around 6-7 Psykers i would be representing my legion, and sternguard look kinda useful and also fluffy.

I don't know how to fill those 1850 points using 2 conclaves and a minideathstar and also other things.

I would prefer to avoid a bike deathstar of the iron hands with Smashfucker, even if it would be very good for my list, but if it's the only way to make psionic powers useful it's okay.

Why the fuck they don't make shooty supporty powers like "-1 to ap of that unit", "Rending" "+1 str" etc...

Infitrators.
Both are pretty bad desu. Rust Stalkers are pretty much trash. Only getting AP2 on 2nd round of combat is a huge cockblock because almost any TEQ will smash the fuck out of them in the 1st. So they're 30 ppm and get owned hard by the models they're supposed to counter. Great.

Infiltrators are also overpriced, but can at least do a decent job of killing MEQs and, with goads, shred the fuck out of blobs.

Infiltrate and Dunestrider also make it so they have a good chance of reaching the enemy, while Rust Stalkers just get cucked trying to make it into combat.

Fuck force who gives a shit, even if you could cast it with another psyker in his unit.
I miscalculated, it was S9 T9

A5 goes to A8 for charge/counterattack, double ccw and banner from honor guard. Don't use the axe because it's dumb, he uses his head as a powerfist.
>>
>>49935279
He has a Pistol
So if say he gets Iron Arms he gets Smash so he'll be AP2 even with a pistol.
THo he loses his Force.
Granted T5-7 with a 2++ with the potential of a 4+ FNP (Endurance) he can tank a ton of punishment and nothing short of the D will take him out before applying death
>Force for ID+1S
>Iron Arms for +d3 S&T
>Endurance for Eternal Warrior and FNP (4+)
S6-9 T5-7 AP2 Instant Death 2++
He's basically a Wingless Prince

I'm sorry guys but i'm not understanding why he shouldn't be able, i'm looking at the books right now and I don't see anything making impossible for him to pick the new powers... Can someone explain please?
>>
>>49935209
I personally love my spindly headache-men in Warconvo. My opponents face was a hilarious when they combi assaulted his barkstar with vanguards and had +3S. He really didnt expect for them do dish out ~30 S9 hits and ~80% of his deathstar just melted away haha.
>>
>>49935316
>Why shouldn't he be able to take the angels of death psychic powers? Angels of death says that any psyker from space marines can use those powers.
Semantics of how he picks his powers. IIRC it had something to do with the fact that he doesnt roll for powers but instead can (only) choose them from the listed ones.

His rules say he can only pick from 3 tables. Forge World confirmed this.

If your group or tourny is fine, it's fine.
>>
>>49935370
Sounds essentially my trick with them using Inquistors that kicked the shit out of the new Custodes.
5 Infiltrators with WS7 (Almost everything I had was in melee), I5 essentially (aura) and far tougher than they had any right to be (biomancy) and an Ordo Xenos throwing rad and psychotroke nades made one custodes stab another in the back with a lucky roll.
The rest got smashed up with a whirlwind of taser strikes.
>>
>>49935342
I find him more useful for getting buffs for units, rather than making him a melee beast. It's a shooting world, anon.
>>
>>49935397
>>49935416
Gotta go now, but thanks for the help. Going to ask our local tournament organizer for his ruling, because I can't find anything semantic about the master psyker rule.

And I am a law student lol
>>
>>49935461
It specifically says, as I pointed out >>49935427
that you may select three powers from (((((ONE)))))) of the following Psychic disiciplines (SEE 40K RULEBOOK PAGE 418):

Biomancy. Telepathy. Telekinesis.

You're applying the rule in Death in the Skies to Loth, when Loth is exempt from those rules. He has to pick from 3 different disciplines. He cannot pick from the new ones.
>>
>>49935451
I agree with you. But Other Anon was saying he was always I1 (due to Axe) which because he has a Pistol is not always the case.
>>
>>49935603

Not the guy but.

It says "may" not you have to.
And if Angels of death says that any psyker from space marines can use those powers I don't see how he can't do the random roll for powers from that book.
>>
>>49935620
I was that anon. I know, but the powers you originally linked did not allow him to hit at AP2 with his pistol. It was only when you went Biomancy and got Iron Arm did that become available. Which is what I personally run with.

I take:

Iron Arm
Warp Speed
Endurance

And just force Force.
>>
>>49935677
It depends if you read 'may select' as him choosing the disciplines, or referring to the actual powers.

I do the latter, meaning he follows those power. I asked Forge World and got told not at the moment, maybe when he's updated.
>>
hey for a sky hammer anhilation force of 1000 pts what do you think of this list?
Also how does the force organization chart works now? they aint in the codexes no more.
>>

Remove nurgle, genecult stronk
>>
>>49935704
The "may select" is very clearly written. He can pick any three from the same single discipline" there is no room for debate on this.

Also stop with this I emailed Forgeworld thing. It holds zero weight.
>>
>>49935769
I didn't email them. I asked them at an event. They said they don't have plans to update them soon (Badab characters) and it's up to your group to decide.

And yes, he can pick anything three from one discipline. It only mentions 3 disciplines, it doesn't say "Or he may roll normally on any other discipline table".
>>
>>49935769
>Also stop with this I emailed Forgeworld thing. It holds zero weight.

Not him, but I asked on their Facebook page, which is where they make FAQ changes and got the same reply. Go do it yourself. If you want to use it your way, fine, it's not up to me, it's up to your group.

The OFFICIAL STANCE is he CANNOT use the new tables, he can only use the three disciplines there, he may roll normally on three different ones, or he may pick and choose on a single one. He cannot use the new powers.

Also stop with this My Interpretation Is More Worthy Than Forge Worlds thing. It holds zero weight.

If a date in a timeline is 757.999.m41 does it mean that it took place the year 41,999,757? Am I interpreting correctly the calendar system?
>>
Anyone got some cool color schemes for IG?
>>

They were vat-grown, but not clones. The Emperor basically made them from the ground-up using his own and human DNA as the base. Space Marines are just bastardisations of their genetic makeup, using implants to recreate some of the ability a Primarch has, but far less powerful. The Primarchs are to Space Marines what Space Marines are to humans.
>>
>>49935886
It means it took place in the year 41,999.

The first three digits are like CRC bits, kinda. Peep the link http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Imperial_Dating_System

Wait, I'm dumb. It means it took place in 41,999.757 (so 757 thousandths of the way through 41,999)
>>
New Fred?
>>
>>49935948

Oh! so it divides de year into fractions of 1000. 757 during the last quarter of 41,999.
>>

Both of these statements are Contradictive. Is it you can't do this or we don't care and have no official ruleing.
>>
>>49936033
>>49935952
The whole thing is confusing, but just look at the last three numbers as a %. It's what I do.

So if it says 500.999.M41, it took place half way through (50%) 999. So in the Imperials calender, it's 50% to M42.

Funnily enough, I think one of the Cain books goes into M42.
>>
>>49936046
I tried to find it for you. They said, basically

>No. He has to use the three powers listed. We have no plans to update him at this time, though we may do at a later date. We have past this on to the rules team. However, do not let this stop you from doing what you would prefer, it is your hobby blah blah ask friends blah blah.

Basically, the official GW stance is 'no', but if you really want, ask your friends, if they go 'no' as well, you either agree to their 'no' or you ask for a roll off.

So he can both do it and do not. The official ruling, currently, is no. But houserules and shit are done by thousands of people. Removing such limits.
>>
>>49936046
I apparently cannot link Facebook pages, not even Forge World's one where you can ask questions....

How viable are Imperial Knights as a stand-alone faction, I.e playing exclusively Knights, not as allies?

How viable are they in a list with mostly Knights are some allies like Space Marines or Mechanicus to shore up weaknesses?
>>
>In the Third Sphere of Expansion Ethereal Aun'Va ordered the Ghosts of N'dras to begin covert operations against the Imperium. They excelled by detonating the Worldcore on Lamdiah and assassinating Cardinal Ambros the Blessed.

Pretty well. The bigger bases mean they're not going to be tournament legal, but for local games they're going to look very impressive.
>>
>>49936188
They're all or nothing when taken alone. Either the enemy fire bounces of them or you fumble a couple of saves and lose a third of your army in one go. Allies make them better by removing that weakness.

What if you use them for Terminators ? Can you slip the power fist and a storm bolter easily on them ?
