By some strange turn of events I had consecrated sphinx, laboratory maniac and alhammarret's archive down. drawing off the sphinx gave me anvil of bogardan, howling mine, phryrexian metamorph, copy artifact and render silent.

cloned the archive 2 times, played the mine and anvil, passed and rendered silent the next guy right away. drew 48 cards in both of there drawsteps and won the game

Play Nicol Bolas and tutor up Quicksilver Dagger or anything else to turn him into a pinger, then drink your opponent's tears.

You could also use Lord of Tresserhorn with Grave Pact effects and Notion Thief to use his ETB trigger to your advantage (or Torpor Orb to negate it altogether)
>>
>>49925178

Grixis can do reanimator with red and blue draw-discard effects and black reanimation

It can do control with all the good removal and counterspells and card advantage

It's the perfect colors for storm, and it's good for a general spellslinger deck too

They're underrated and a nice source of card advantage combined with wide tactics like Cathars' Crusade, but they're not powerful either.

I have a Karador deck that runs the best rebels with tricks like Conspiracy and Seedborn Muse and it's actually very powerful as a control-hatebears deck, with Karador to make sure the best Rebel for the situation is always available. It can reach for answers for most occasions and is a blast to play.

Alright, /tg/...

Ive done a sit-down with my deck after being able to test it for a month, and Ive done a good overhaul of the deck. Ive cleaned up the Mana base alittle, but obviously I could use some more ramp, if its needed.

Im down to 93 cards in the main deck, so I have room for another 6 cards.

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/legion-of-heaven-2/

I think Im in despite need of more creatures that actually do things for me in a meaningful way, like find mana, creature tokens, or just have the able to stall or beat. Im open to any reasonable suggestion, as well as hearing any opinions about cards that should probably be removed for other options.

It's not nearly as bad as you think. The copies made by Ink-Treader aren't cast, they're just created directly on the stack, so they won't trigger Storm.

You'd cast Spell A and trigger Possibility Storm and Nephilim. Both are your triggers, so you can stack them as you like- either you can have Nephilim aim copies at every other creature it could target, resolve all of those copies, THEN have Possibility Storm eat the original and cast a new one (which might be something Nephilim could copy, but that'd be the end of it), or you can have Storm eat the spell and flip until you hit a new one, which might trigger Nephilim.
>>

>>49927336
>>
>>49927566
Triggers are AP/NAP order. So if you did this during YOUR turn, you'd put the Nephilim trigger first, then their Storm. Storm eats the spell, digs, casts a new one (which may or may not trigger Nephilim- if so, resolve that trigger, then all the copies, THEN the original trigger)

If you did it during THEIR turn, you'd put PS on the stack first, then Nephilim. Nephillim clones the spell for all the other targetable creatures. Resolve those copies, then feed the spell to PS, and cast your new one, which may trigger Nephilim.

Not quite as scary as it looks. BED NOW.
>>
>>49927336

You need a motherfucking assemble the legion. It goes hilariously well with cathars crusade too. Also consider martial coup, devout invocation and launch the fleet for token spam. Youre also missing a few of my favorite troll options for boros - deflecting palm, wild riccochet and comeuppance.

Hero's blade would be a nice choice too (does work in my Aurelia deck). Steelshapers gift would be good to find your sunforger and all your goddamn swords. Speaking of which you might want to add some more silver bullets for your sunforger. Also dont forget about gift of estates.

As far as actual creatures go you NEED a firemane avenger (lightning helix on a 3/3 flying stick for 4CMC!). Archangel of thune is also missing even though you are using it as the post picture!

I think you have enough lifelink to make sunbound hilarious and gross. I also think you could use a couple more low cost creatures and you have a lot of options there.

Added sword of the animist, sculpting steel and newlamog. Rationale for sword is too much earlygame value to pass up on in colors that suck for ramp. Sculpting steel is a 3 mana solemn or sol ring in the worst case, and in magical christmasland, a second keening stone. Newlamog is just high value mill+removal.

Not him, but Ink-Treader Nephilim is just disgusting.

You play all the token generation you can, either that generates for yourself, or for your opponents (Like genesis chamber and Forbidden Orchard) then stuff the entire deck fucking full of cantrips.

>Play commander
>theres 10 or so creatures on board (Other people playing their regular strategy + you making them tokens constantly)

>draw another 1 mana cantrip

>draw entire deck
>win

There basically can't be creatures on the board or he just wins out of nowhere.

Newzuri with a 1/1 counter theme.
>>
>>49929433
You could do Rashmi with a ridiculously strong topdeck theme. Like, none of this half assed sylvan library/top business, go all out, with every synergy. Run a goddamn counterbalance, run miracles. Arbiter of the Ideal! Conundrum sphinx! Deceiver of Forms! Hua tuo! Djinn of wishes! Heed the mists! Into the Wilds! Jalira! I you haven't heard of most of these cards, no worries, that's the point, and neither have I! Become the lord of really weird, potentially risky card advantage!

Also, sprinkle some tribal into whatever, it always gives it a bit more character.

Another fun one can be Ezuri morph.

Wizards said at some point that they don't want to do power level errata anymore, which is what making them legendary technically would be.
However, they could simply reprint them as legendaries with a different name, e.g. Stephanie, the Dune-Brood.

This would be one of the few times I think a lot of people would be OK with an errata to legendary. They're interesting design-wise, and they're currently the only 4-color creatures in the game.

Personally I just want them as legendary so I can build Witch-Maw Exalted. It's in all the colors for it; that shit would rule.

So I finally interested my brother enough to get into commander after we played a few games with my Merfolk and Zombie tribal decks. He's settled on playing Rakdos, Lord of Riots and I am really looking forward to playing against that.
Any suggestions for stuff to jam in? I think he's mainly interested in doing demon tribal, with a sub-theme of burn to help get the Rakdos triggers off and chuck Rune-Scarred onto the field for BB, all that fun stuff. Any card suggestions to help get the gears turning in a deck like this?
Thanks in advance!

pic related

anyway there are two ways to build rakdos.

method number 1

pingers.jpg
>build around rakdos using pingers and other stupid shit
>possibly ping everyone to get rakdos out
>possibly swing with rakdos and empty your hand
>possibly your fatties don't get wiped in 1-3 turns
>possibly something good happens and you win
>if any part of those things goes wrong, you'll fall behind, gas out or just otherwise get fucked

method number 2

reanimator
>don't build around rakdos, instead go the reanimator route
>enjoy sick card advantage, looter effects, reanimation, haste and other fun stuff that rakdos provides
>put fatties in the grave and reanimate them, duh
>cast rakdos as an alternative way to cheat fatties into play if you can

Your first priority is mana fixing because RRBB is a pain in the ass. Signet, filter, whatever you got going on. Reanimation is also a good idea as this guy gets targeted a lot. Giving him haste and hexproof/shroud is a must. A lot of rakdos cards go well with hellbent triggers, so Maelfegor might be for you. Then you could even use something like Infernal Tutor. Enjoy!

The card existed years before Scry. The reason they didn't change it to Scry 5 is because that would honestly make the card needlessly more complicated (and be a functional change). It's fine as it is- look at the top 5. Don't like them? Pay 1 life and ship them to the bottom. Repeat until you like your top 5, set them aside to shuffle your library, then put the 5 you liked on top in any order.
>>

something like hybrid mana
so it either costs 4 colors (giving it 4c identity)
or alternatively 4 of a single color and lets you know it's a very aligned with that color. Also bonuses for hardcasting it.

the not green one will have a strong artifact theme

the not red will be enchantment

the not blue will be creatures, etc.

I'm banking on the whole 'color they are missing' indicates them either exceeding on what color can't do or hate on what it can do.

Either way I hope they don't expect us to hard cast them.

How can you read my five earlier posts and reach such a conclusion ? I never wanted them to change the original card's text.
Also I said close enough but Not the same.
You're not reading what I writing, so I done replying to you. Have a good day anon.
INB4 you won't see the post where I replied to my self to fix the "not" that was missing

>When the full decklists become available, you may notice that we did some unusual things with the mana bases. We normally don't put rare dual lands in Commander preconstructed decks. We prefer to put those types of cards into products intended for a wider audience, such as our main booster releases or Masters products. We knew that four-color decks presented a special challenge for getting access to all of your colors of mana, so we spent some time identifying rare dual lands that we didn't think we'd want to put into booster packs in the near future. We put a few of those cards into the Commander 2016 decks to help the decks run smoothly.

Any ideas?

God bless them for subverting the rules council but all of the partner cards look low tier.

>>49932755
That would destroy Legacy.
>>
>>49932755
They'll never finish the cycle. They will never print the other cards, because a U/B or a U/W land that comes in untapped and can make either color of mana at the 'cost' of gaining an opponent 1 life would be dumb as shit.
>>
Partner is a neat enough way to circumvent the challenge of designing a good 4-colour legend. Doesn't mean I'm not a little dissapointed. Hopefully there's a good range of cards with partner to experiment with.
>>
So...

If you're a complete shitter and actually use two partner cards, do you still have 99 cards + the 2 commanders, or 98 + 2?
>>
>>49932830
98 + 2. See http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/commander-2016-mechanics-2016-10-24
>>
>>49932816
In the article, they said there will be 3 cards with partner in each deck : 1 ally-colored and 2 enemy-colored
15 seems like a good range
>>
>>49932816
Don't be disapointed, they're just extras. Read here:
>To recap, there are four decks for Commander (2016 Edition). Each deck will focus on four colors. Each deck will contain fifteen new cards (although note that some new cards may appear in more than one of the decks). Among these fifteen new cards, each deck will have:

A four-color legendary creature (new characters but from known worlds) printed at mythic rare
An allied two-color legendary creature with partner (characters from Magic's past that haven't yet been printed as cards) printed at mythic rare
Two enemy two-color legendary creatures with partner (characters from Magic's past that haven't yet been printed as cards that are creatively linked to one another), one printed at mythic rare and the other at rare
Various other cards tied to the mechanical theme of the deck
Each deck will have three legendary creatures with partner, allowing you three options of partnering (although one version will only give you access to two colors). If you buy all five decks, you will have fifteen legendary creatures with partner, giving you 105 different pairing options.
>>
>>49932816
It's a neat concept, but it feels like something that should've been shot down on day 1 of development. I hate that it's not backwards compatible so there's only a tiny handful of combinations you can use, none of the ones we've seen so far really seem to actually mesh together.
>>
>>49932807
They have already made UW and UB though, they are called Nimbus Maze and River of Tears. There also was Horizon Canopy and that Rakdos filterland.
>>
>>49932850
>>49932851
Ah okay, I only read the one article. Neato. We'll have to see if there's any sweet combinations of partners that'll give us a 3-colour deck instead of 4. At least there's a good amount of them to experiment with.
>>
>>49932860
Because they're in different color combinations.

>>49932876
That is not what we're talking about.
>>
>>49932816
It's a shitty cop out.

Fuck this, fuck planeswalker commanders, fuck wizards.
>>
>>49932876
That was a pseudo-cycle of 5 different 'slices' of duals they could use. Of them, we've only ever seen Graven Cairns expanded into a proper cycle (and beyond that, megacycle for all 10 2-color combinations)

There are no Horizon Canopy equivalents in other colors. Nor are there Nimbus Mazes or Rivers of Tears or Groves of the Burnwillow in other colors. And I doubt there ever will be.
>>
>>49932891
Don't be a faggot. Christ, you haven't even read the whole article and you're already complaining. Check THIS:
>>49932851
Five four color commanders
Fifteen Partner commanders
And of course LUDEVIC FUCKING CONFIRMED
>>
>>49932889
But of course we are. They are of the same cycle with Grove. Just because Grove was a reverse-painland, it doesn't make the other lands in Future Sight not the same cycle.
>>
>>49932924
They are not an actual cycle
They are preview of cycles, one of which was actually finished
>>
>>49932924
Technically it does. You can't just pick 5 rare lands that don't share any mechanics and call them a cycle because they're all rare.
>>
>>49932924
By cycle we're referring to Grove of the Burnwillows and the as-of-yet not printed remaining four allied "reverse-painlands."
>>
>>49932914
I've read the article, I've seen the 4 color commanders. I'm saying the partner mechanic is a complete horse shit joke.

So am I right in thinking that there are seven possible combinations of partners for each of the four color combinations?

Two allied partners (1), an allied partner and either two enemy partners (2), and either two enemy pair partners partnering with either of the other enemy pair partners (4).

>>

>>
>>49933521
Ox Tribal would be about as good as his current ability. Generally, if a commander's ability is largely irrelevant (i.e. doesn't generate an advantage of some sort, isn't useful as a build-around, etc.) the color identity is all you have to fall back on, and Bruse Tarl happens to be in the worst one. Partner is a cop-out to give him a better color identity. Who you pair him with won't matter, you'll probably never cast him since he's so bad on his own. You're just going to use him for shit like Enlightened Tutor and Blasphemous Act.

Ally typing won't help since there's already a 5-color ally commander.
>>
>>49933616
Well, if you flash him in you could use his ETB as a combat trick. Unexpected double strike could be a game ender.

It's shit.

I think the recurring theme about all the Partner commanders is that their only redeeming quality will be that they have Partner.
>>
>>49933755
Ludevic will apparently be a legendary UR creature this set too, so I think the two cards may have a hidden synergy that makes the partner ability work well.
>>
>>49933616
He's really not that bad. I know people treat all combat abilities as though the creature is straight vanilla, but he does stuff and who knows what other partners he'll get.

>We designed a bunch of "wild card" commanders along these lines. Hybrid mana legendary creatures with completely different hybrid mana activated abilities. Monocolored legendary creatures with three differently colored activation costs. Legendary artifact creatures with four-color activated abilities. And so on. I won't keep you in suspense on these: none of them worked out. The cards that were easiest to design were the hardest to concept, and vice versa. It's very important that Magic cards have a satisfying unity of mechanics and creative treatment, so we decided not to proceed with the "wild card" commanders
