The Exorcists are Grey Knights successors who exorcise their recruits of Daemons in order to render themselves invisible to Daemons.

Silas Alberec is Primarch-sized.

He has S5 and the Hell-Slayer makes him S10, alongside a crapton of Daemon and Psyker slaying rules.

>>49916460
It is indeed canon. An Inquisitor oversees the process, and should the initiate fail, he is killed. This is obviously kept secret from all but the GK and Radical Inquisitors.

Thanks to their exorcizings, on their first battle against Daemons they had a 97:3 kill ratio.

They specialize in gathering knowledge and having extremely flexible tactics. This allows them to use any Chapter Tactic as their own, and allows FW to excuse being lazy.

The Exorcists also have two extra Scout Companies, due to the survival rate for the exorcising.

Y'varha works differently if you take one or spam it, because of target saturation.

Take one, it's the easiest riptide to kill despite it's heightened firepower. In range of more things, most chargeable, one less wound. Likely to annihilate the unit it jumps at, then suck up an army of retaliation.

Spam it though, then it's a real bastard. Not just because of the linear effect of more of them shooting, but because of the division in focus, redundant tactical impact.

Anyhow, unspammed, a vanilla riptide is deadlier because barring Grav, it'll get to shoot and suck up fire all game long rather than for two turns.

How about the number of Imperial Knights or Riptides equal to one Wraithknight?
>>
Would it be possible to put a Tech-Priest Dominus part of a Holy Requisitioner Formation, inside a drop pod (say, using deathwatch as an allied detachment) and have that trigger the automatic deployment of the Breachers?
From my reading of drop pods they automatically pass a reserve roll, so presumably that counts as a success for the purposes of the "Apparition Extremis" rule?
>>
>>49916576

Wraithknights are probably worth about two Imperial Knights.
>>
>>49916591
No, because you can't deploy inside battle brother transports. FAQ single handedly turned Admech from 9/10 to 7/10
>>
>>49916591
No, you cannot start in a Battle Brothers transport. Read the 7e rulebook. It's in there alongside it saying you can only throw one grenade in melee.
>>
>>49916531
The Emperor made a deal with Chaos long before Magnus did.

Did Magnus fuck up? Of course. The Emperor's fuck-ups are several magnitudes more severe.
>>
>>49916611
But doesnt that only apply to dedicated transports? For Deathwatch you can take them as fast attack.
>>
>>49916632
>The Emperor made a deal with Chaos long before Magnus did.
[Citation needed]
>>
>>49916647
You can say thank you to the Horus Heresy series for that little tidbit. Big E made a deal with Chaos to make the primarchs.
>>
So what's next on the releases list?

We've had a lot of 40k in a row now, so I wouldn't be surprised by some irrelevant Sigmar shit, but haven't heard anything at all yet.
>>
>>49916652
Source?
>>
>>49916639
I believe the question specifically mentioned Dedicated transports, but the answer applies to all transports. It's really just making clear what was written in the rulebook.

It's why War convo went from straight broken "Flesh tearers pods + Skitarii = Rape" to decent.
>>
Can I equip a veteran of a command squad with an eviscerator?
>>
>>49916647
Horus Heresy ruined a lot of things, man, moreso made the Emperor look pretty retarded than anything else. I can't remember the name of the book but I've seen the quotes, Emperor made a deal with Chaos, presumably for either knowledge or some plot-tier bullshit to make the Primarchs.

At this point they're just setting it up as if the Emperor had lost to Chaos on the chessboard from the start.
>>
>>49916656
We don't know yet, the closest thing we have is the battle zone Fenris with plastic Magnus, and some sculptor guy leaking that he's currently working on an army he didn't work before, probably thousand sons
>>
>>49916658
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Big E duped the Chaos gods into giving him the power for the Primarchs then double crossed them, resulting in them having a hissy fit and chucking them through the warp around the galaxy.

The Emperor was just a bigger rusemaster than Magnus.

Original anon might have the source.
>>
>>49916668

That is pretty retarded. If he couldn't make fancy Primarchs without chaos, why not just make Marines directly and forget about them?
>>
>>49916680

Yeah about that "tossing them through the Galaxy" thing.

How the fuck does that work?

Do the chaos gods just have a "fuck you, scavenger hunt" power?

If so, why don't they do it more often?
>>
>>49916696
Well it relied on them pooling all of their power to do something. And that NEVER fucking happens.

It's only now that the gods align as their mortal+Daemon followers aren't QUITE as fussy about working together.
>>
>>49916664
Does the datasheet say you can?
>>
>>49916682
Anon, where do you think the geneseed to make astartes comes from? Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to call things retarded.
>>
>>49916707

Well okay, in that case why did they harmlessly transfer the babies through the warp to 20 habitable human held planets?

Why not fuck with them?

Why not leave them in the warp?

Why not dump them in a star?

Why not leave 'em with Xenos that'd be likely to raise them to hate the Emperor?

Why not a random set of all of the above?
>>
>>49916723
>Why not fuck with them
>Implying most of the Primarchs didn't have personality disorders that helped cause the Heresy
>Implying these disorders would've manifested under different upbringings
>Implying the Emperor wasn't outplayed and outplanned the moment he crossed the Gods in the long scheme
>>
>>49916715

>Anon, where do you think the geneseed to make astartes comes from?

Genetic fuckery.

You can make thunder warriors, you can make Custodes.

Making a stable mass produced variant shouldn't need to require the 20 magical demigods that Black Library decided to interpret the Primarchs as for no particularly coherent reason.
>>
>>49916723
Anon, you do recall that half the primarchs turned on the Emperor, burning his entire grand design to the ground in the process, right?

Curze, Angron, Lion'o, and Lorgar were all broken by their relocations. Magnus and his entire legion got buttfucked into submission by Tzeentch.
>>
>>49916743
>>49916730

>50% success rate

Incompotence.
>>
>>49916723
I mean half of them did end up wanting to kill him, so it did work.

>No Butcher's Nails/No bitterness and anger over abandoning his people

>No Chaos influenced Lorgar

>No Magnus being raised by magicians

>No MURDER BATMAN
>>
>>49916748
Do remember that, in somewhat older fluff, if the Chaos Gods destroyed everything they would've died off themselves without emotional sustenance (hypothetically this was also true in the Heresy, as they clearly weren't as omnipotent as some fluff tries to make them), so having Horus lose and not kill all of Humanity like the Cabal wanted was a win for them.

The Heresy, in theory, turned out as well as it possibly could for Chaos.
>>
>>49916751
I don't really think Magnus's upbringing had much to do with his fall. He fell due a combination of hubris, Chaos influence (Fleshchange), the Emperor being a retarded asshole, and Russ being a retarded asshole.
>>
>>49916748
They're chaos anon.
>>
Is it possible to build a cheese list with IG?
>>
>>49916767
Yes.

You'll still lose to top-tier Tau, Eldar, and SM builds, but leafblower-style Mechvet+Arty spam lists are brutal for other tier two and three armies to play against.
>>
>>49916767
It's possible to build a 'cheese' list with anyone, turns out some factions' cheese just table others'. I like to think the Artillery Company with Wyverns can be pretty nasty, and I can imagine Vets in Chimeras is about the best you're getting out of troops in any scenario. For anything else I don't really have the experience to say.
>>
>>49916748
Well, no. 11 out of 20. 2 of them were so bad the Emperor killed them before they even managed to do much of anything.

>>

If they had corrupted all of them beyond saving, then the world would have fallen to Chaos and basically ended.

Who cares if they're gone from the Codex? Just ask your opponent if it's okay to use them. Would anyone really think one IG squad with Scout and one random special rule for 80 pts is overpowered?

So Im starting a new Tau army and I have a sqaud of Crisis Suits.
In the codex it says the Unit composition is 1 crisis minimum in a squad.
So if I want to have three in the squad will it mean I have to have 44pts for 2 extra crisis suits? (as it says you can add up to eight with 22pts/model.)
>>
>>49917122
>showing Big E
I'm not sure if this would be a good idea if you're trying to show off the 40k setting.

I'd probably open up with an Imperial Guard sieging a heretic fortress city, like its a straight up WW2 in space movie and then SPESS MARINES breaking the defenses like angels from heaven. Then zooming out to show the imperial fleet above the planet. Then zooming out to the dozens of worlds in that section of space, from an agriworld shipping grain off the planet, to land on a manufactorum world building leman russ battle tanks, to a hive world where drafted 14 year olds are being loaded by the hundreds of thousands onto transports to be trained as imperial guardsman. Then zooming out to see an administrator looking at screen detailing that one section of space with thousands of dots and incoming messages/information. Then zooming out to see thousands of administrators looking at similar screens. Then zooming out to see the administratum and holy terra.

"It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

You realise literally the only reason that Chaos Marines as a faction are scary to the galaxy at large rather than the imperium as an organisation in specific... Is because of an asspull implication someone stuck in about "oh no humans will explode the universe if the golden throne turns off"?

It's not though. Abbadon's goal is to take over the Imperium, not destroy it. Unite humanity under his and Chaos's banner.

There'll be a Chaos Imperium and everyone else is double fucked.
>>
>>49917910
His plan for doing this is letting the Eye of Terror expand until it reaches Terra and then eventually envelope the whole galaxy.

Of course, when he reaches Terra he has to remove the Emperor. With the death of the Emperor, humanity (EVERYONE of them) will explode into Warp portals and spew Chaos everywhere until reality is destroyed.

We have to assume that
A) Abaddon doesn't know this
or
B) Abaddon knows this and has some sort of back plan to prevent this from happening.

I specifically meant the 2009 codex with shit like Penal Legionnaires, veteran style choice on Stormtroopers, Sly Marbo, artillery that isn't a fucking Basilisk, all the other cool characters that were axed like Chenkov, Mogul Kamir and Captain Al'Rahem and fucking nerfs to things that were merely decent, like Manticores and Hydras.

But yeah, IG has had a constant decline in units and rules for years, even with the Bullgryn and Wyvern being added, the last change was still a net loss of about 8 units.
>>
>>49918595
A lot of that shit'll be back in the next codex.

>>

>>
>>49918653

>>
>>49918634
As an ex-IG player, just make them as GSC, they are FAR better off at the moment.

They have the privilege of being a codex released JUST as 7th came out, so half their shit is just completely fucked. Their AA vehicle actually got WORSE as flyer rules were fleshed out.

All the interesting shit got axed because of the Chapter House incident and I doubt that much is going to change.

And seeing as 8th is just around the corner, they might just get ANOTHER early edition codex.

The walls of reality have never been thinner and the birth rates of fullblown and latent psykers have sky-rocketed. I do kinda hate always playing the 'bad guy'.
Every game I play I always choose the evil doer, or the alien because its the least popular choice and it adds for variety. While I have these IG models in front of me, and I actually really like the IG (I don't care for space marines), i'm finding it really difficult to stick messed up triple foreheads on them.
>>
>>49919312
Roll with IG.
>>
>>49919312
>Build them without alien bits
>Magnetise the weapons
>Switch to It when they get a new codex

If your LGS is as casual as mine though scrap that and just play IG. Sure you probably won't win much but you can always just fix bayonets andBring On The Second Wave!
>>
>>49919476
My LGS is quite casual. 80% of people play Space Marines 10% play Chaos Space Marines and then the final 10% there is the occasional Tau or Tyranid player (me) who turns up. Pretty small community. But being a Tyranid player means loosing a lot. I already have lots of Genestealers so moving to GSC seemed like an 'easy' way of upgrading. I just really don't like the models.

>>
>>49919641
Get another ten guys and a chimera

Get a few Leman Russes and pick one to be Pask, make sure to magnetize the guns so you don't have to buy one of every variant.

With some more filler of your choice you'll have the bare minimum to play.

Depends on what sort of army you want though. Drowning your enemies in tanks sort of encourages them to bring out the free transports marine bullshit where they deep strike half their army on turn one and melta your ass off.
>>
What's the armour of most buildings? Could a Breacher's Blaster blowup the least armored ones?
>>
>>49919641
Too much armor discourages players who don't tailer and encourages SM to start drop pod meltaspam
Use some of the walkers, they're killy but killable
1 Valkyrie at 1500 points, gunship version is good AA in a casual meta but transport can be funny as hell
COMMISSARS EVERYWHERE. *BLAM* never gets old and with the 1-2 opponents choice nerf it's not as irritating as it once was
Make sure to get BOTSW because that makes your conscripts even more expendable, giving the function of a million infantry units without the boredom of moving them all on the board at the same time
Get 100 dice in 10 blocks of colour. You'll need them and the colours make life easier

Personally, I think they need to change the vox mechanics: Instead of allowing you to reroll leadership, it allows you to issue orders with unlimited or at least double range. Then all command benefits and whatnot effect chances to leadership instead of increasing order range. So instead of the Cadian battle group command getting to shout orders to units 24" away instead of 12", now he allows you to reroll the leadership check like the voxcaster used to.

This increases the utility of the voxcaster while also giving the enemy another priority target other than the squad sargeants: Now he'll want to target the voxcasters as well to disrupt the enemy radio network.

Reminds me of a scene from a recent game. My tank commander and co-tank were hiding out in a building, and the 2nd floor was occupied by an infantry team that I was going to have jump down if any melta infantry got to close. The enemy skitarii player had a unit of pletasts rain grenades into the building and killed all the infantry inside. £10 for gregor, £10 for Ahriman, try to sell the marines in groups of 10 for about £15 each, terminators for £15.

now anyone who wants to charge your squishy support unit needs to get through AP2 at I5 and the defence grenades and flamer will ensure more than a few casualties

not to bad either for 92 points.

you can also put them in a Valkyrie/stormraven and use them as a kind of anti psyker bomb, deepstrike them within 12" of a bullshit psychic deathstar and strip them off all protection while your big guns vaporise them
>>
>>49922158
People always use the Gorkanaut as the example for how GW isn't actually powercreeping for moneygrabs, but has anyone stopped to think, hey, this is literally the only unit that ever gets used for this argument, maybe GW just hates Orks and so that's the one exception to the rule?
>>

flamers
>>
>>49922158
>Outliers disprove a point
>>
>>49922208
Of all the factions. Of all the fucking factions they could hate, I doubt it's Orks.
>>
>>49922208

because the maleceptors a significant step up from the zoanthropes right?

and the taurox is superior to the chimera

and tempestus are objectively better than veteran's
>>
>>49922237
Then explain the latest Ork Codex.

We know Tyranids suck because they put a guy who hates them in charge of writing their books.
>>
>>49922208
>Warp Talons, Mutilators, forgefiends, dark apostles, warpsmiths, the lord of skulls, ogryns, bullgryns, hydras, entirety of the harlequin range, skitarii electropriests...
>>
>>49922278
Maleceptor is a dual-kit with the Toxicrene which is actually a very solid unit... for a Tyranid. But we know FOR A FACT that the guy who was writing Tyranids hates them.

The Taurox is good, people don't dislike it because of rules, they dislike it because of the shitty model. But the entire Tempestus Codex hardly even counts because it was an experiment as the first mini-dex release, they weren't even really sure what they were doing.
>>
>>49922281
Incompetence or stupidity.
>>
>>49922287
>listing a ton of shit that's all from before the powercreep started
Electropriests are the ONLY ONES you have a point with, but I guess that's a pretty legit one.
>>
>>49919832
Well, just got back from a game running this formation where 60% of my shit died to one round of Necron shooting and then I failed 4 charges despite the +3" charge rule.

Fuck it I'm switching to Eldar.
>>
>>49922320

I meant tempestus models

the toxicrene has the dubious honour of being the only other 4+ save MC (that and malceptors) venomthropes do the shrouding better for cheaper.

no reason to bring a taurox when the chimera does everything better for an extra 15 points, and everything you don't care enough about to spare an extra 15 points might as well not take a transport at all
>>
Anyone watch the new MWG Battle Report where Genecults basically tabled Scatbike/Wraithknight Eldar by turn 4?

lol at all the armchair general tourniefags who said this wasn't going to be a top tier codex.
>>
>>49922228
>>49922208
>Scions are better than Veterans
>Biovores are better than literally anything

>Electropriests are good
>Shield Ogryns whatever they're are called
>Harlequins bar MAYBE Solitaire
>Warp Talons

I'm probably forgetting shit loads.

>>49922281
The same reason the BA codex was shite, because somebody else was put in charge who didn't seem to play test.
>>
>>49922376
Link?
>>
>>49922376
I fucking said they would be. They told me they'd be good but Eldar and Tau would always win.
>>
>>49922370
>the toxicrene has the dubious honour of being the only other 4+ save MC
I think this was intended to make them harder to kill with grav. In the current meta where everything is AP 2, having a worse armour save with built-in shrouded is a lot better actually.
>>
>>49922337

the haruspex has no idea what it wants to be doing and is bad at everything

the new guns on hive guard are worst than the old ones

the crone is outperformed by a flygrant in every way.
>>
>>49922376
Anyone who saw the rules and didn't admit they'd be very strong was someone who wanted to cling to muh fluffy faction as an excuse. Fighting GSC is cancer.

Not him but here you go.

So battlescribe says my Chimeras can take a turret Heavy Bolter OR Twin Linked Heavy Bolter for free. I dont see the twin link option in the codex though. Where are the rules that say this and why would you ever take the single one?
>>
>>49922400
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRB-2SfoW-8&t=3s

I just got the free trial membership for exclusive videos so I can check out the game vs competitive Tau.
>>
>>49922434
The tau game is about as satisfying, the tau player takes a hunter contingent + optimized stealth cadre and also nearly gets tabled. Matt essentially takes exactly the same list as vs. the eldar player.
>>
>>49922416
It wasn't GSC players saying they weren't strong, it was smug Eldarfags saying they'd never lose to it.

Also fighting GSC isn't cancer at all, it just requires you to not minmax like a faggot and play an actual well-rounded list. It curbs the bullshit that the greedy top-tier lists have been getting away with, but makes for fair fights against mid-tier armies that run the counters.
>>
>>49922428
TL was an old FW option IIRC.
>>
>>49922382
Scions>Veterans
They cost nearly twice as much as Veterans with carapace, can't take heavy weapons, can only take 2 heavy weapons to the veteran's three, and are elites.

Vs

They're Elites, have AP3 lasguns and deep strike.

I'm not sure "Better" is the word I would use. Not worse, but I can do more with veterans.
>>
>>49922408

>4+ is somehow better than 2+

>instead of 6's
*Instead of 2s I mean
>>
>>49922466
Unfortunate. The second-hand chimera I just got has a whacked-up multilaser so I was going to chop it up and convert a different weapon. A single heavy bolter doesnt seem like a very good trade-off.
>>
>>49922458
Who exactly do you think you're going to fool here? Anyone that's played a game against GSC played by a competent player realizes how utterly bullshit trying to play against them is.

Cult Ambush may be fluffy, but it is one of the least fun mechanics in the game.
>>49922416
>>49922376
A lot of the naysayers are GSCfags in denial about how cancerous their faction really is. Anyone with a modicum of honesty and a decent grasp of the game saw how powerful GSC were going to be purely on the price and rules.
>>
>>49922556
Give it a heavy flamer or an autocannon (I think regular guard can take autocannon chimeras?)
>>
>>49922458
>it just requires you to not minmax like a faggot and play an actual well-rounded list.

Honestly I never saw the big threat from Gene Cults playing as Guard, especially if I were expecting cults and gave all my troop choices two flamers and a heavy flamer for 3d3 auto hits. I'd like to see any charge get through that shit.

Not in the codex. Also considering Ive NEVER been in range of something to use my hull mounter Heavy Flamer I feel less than optimistic about taking the turret option.
>>
>>49922556
To be more specific, in accordance with Imperial Armour I v2 you can replace the Multilaser with the TL Heavy Bolter for 10 points, whereas a single Heavy Bolter is free. Battlescribe can sometimes be shaky with regards to FW upgrades.
>>
>>49922474
I was saying Scions were worse than Veterans, using his logical that the "Gorkanaut" was the only example people can come up with; it is not.

GW simply doesn't follow what shitposters WANT them to do. GW doesn't release new shit with amazing shit JUST because it's new.
>>
>>49922561
>Anyone that's played a game against GSC played by a competent player realizes how utterly bullshit trying to play against them is.
They're an army of T3 5+ save guys with no Flyers, no Grav, no Invulns except a 5+ on Purestrains which have no ranged weapons, no JSJ, no Gargantuans/Super-Heavies, no S: D, no powerful Allies, no broken Special Character Deathstars, many of their best melee units lack assault grenades... they are literally lacking all of the things that are "cancer" about modern 40k.

Just because you cannot adjust to an army with a very different tactical playstyle doesn't make it cancer, it makes you bad.
>>
>>49922582
Exactly this.
>>
>>49922582
Soooo, list tailoring? Fucking kek you GSC faggots are delusional.
>>
>>49916940
>But I feel like 40k is so religious in nature, and with even the good guys being "graphic" in regards to skulls and shit everywhere, servitors, etc, that people would definitely get uncomfortable with it.

The trick is to do it in a Band of Brothers-style TV series, where you start in like "basic training" of a Guard regiment, where the grimdark - while there - is very toned down. Then, you progress the series gradually and eventually, over the course of like 10 one-hour series' you end up at full-blown Daemonic Incursion, and you get there naturally.
>>
>>49922680
>not taking at least one flamer per squad in guard whenever possible

I don't even plan to play GSC so your petty insults ring rather hollow
>>
>>49917051
>(happy endings which Americans demand)

American here - the only people who demand happy endings are in family films. Most Americans are totally fine with sad endings, or at minimum pyrrhic victories.

40K is not a family franchise, so there is little to worry about there.
>>
>>49918752
That is literally illegal in the US.
>>
>>49922697
Your attempts to roleplay as a non GSC player to justify the lunacy of your codex are transparent.
>>
>>49921062
I tend to forget half of my army rules during a game, but usually just shrug it off rather than sperg out over it. I may not win a lot, but I have fun almost every game.
>>
When does gw release their holiday stuff typically? I heard rumors about prime SC boxes and the like and have heard some people talk about sales and deals with gw around this time.

Are big boxed sets like retaliation cadre, strike force ultima, etc common?
>>
>>49922376
>lol at all the armchair general tourniefags who said this wasn't going to be a top tier codex.
Who the fuck said they wouldn't be? Most everyone said they'd do great against tau and eldar, it was armies like daemons or space marines that people said GSC will struggle with
>>
>>49922192
I don't believe it's been erratad.

But Yea it's a really good inclusion, you just don't see that many, since neurons field dickloads of infantry and canoptek units. Remember warriors can glance vehicles to death.
>>
>>49916501
Aren't the Black Templar the largest chapter as the highest estimate of their numbers is 10k?
