For once the Mississippi weather knows what it wants. Chilly weather. Also, Papa Sang has the most votes, and amusingly Fulgrim has the least votes.

>>49890543
They move out of the way when the marine turns around. Raise and lower, like a car suspension. You can glimpse the mechanism here.
>>
>>49890589
They can definitely do that, but if the pauldrons automatically react to movement, why wouldn't you also have them operate on a similar principle to actually existing reactive armours?

They wouldn't stuff all those servos in just for convenience's sake.
>>
>>49890543
Inner hydraulics move in such a way as to try and make a shot glance if possible, also to better black carapace integration automatically makes wearer move in such a way to do the same. Basically your armour is controlling your body motions when shot at. At least it sound like it in my head.

>>49890571
Yeah, I noticed the same afterwards, I hate it when they're shitting in their mouths when they don't make enough of an effort to be consistent in a fictional game.
My headcanon is, as I said before, the numbers had been assigned for systematisation purpose only, by the time the books "are written" only mkVI and mkVII remain in production.

>Inner hydraulics move in such a way as to try and make a shot glance if possible
It's kind of hard to do so, as the suit would need to know where a shot is coming from...but it could act as a suspension against blows, like a spring. That could definitely aid in melee, which is where having pauldrons would help the most
>>
>>49890678
Well, remember when we decimated that AL spy. And this guys is using a dagger, a chainsword and eating people's bits, possibly to acquire their gene data.
>>
>>49890775
For sure. Might still be useful against slower/larger projectiles, though.
>>
>>49890775
>where a shot is coming from
Motion sensors aren't much different from visual in principle. It would be ineffective against energy projectiles traveling at the speed of light, but should be good against ballistic ones, as well as in melee like you said.

The name probably came about later. Don't think they called the Napoleonic Wars "the Napoleonic Wars" as they were being fought.

Funny thing, though, the name "the First World War" was used as early as 1914, not because they expected more, but mostly because it was considered the first of its kind, a WORLD war, fought across the globe.

Blood Ravens are said to have an unusual proportion of librarians, described as "two full squads in the first company".

I guess if you want to jam a unit forever the shields make them an utter bitch to remove as chewing through 2+/3++ T5 W2 Eternal Warriors will take forever, but their damage potential is quite shit against other dedicated melee specialists. And the lack of an invuln will come to bite them in the ass in a hurry if they take the spear, since they can't block shooting.
tl;dr: They are rather disappointing for their cost.

Rule doesn't say "in your turn", it says "the same turn." Your opponent's turn is also your turn. Or if you're enemy is assaulting you and you Overwatch on them.

It purely means you can use the shooty bit and the stabby bit in the same turn, if the situation arises, but nothing in the rules lets them fire the bolter and assault, because nothing in the rules gets around the Rapid Fire restrictions.

I am kinda confused by the Custodes, if I am honest. Their swords are very shit for what they're worth and the spears leave them fairly vulnerable, because stuff that kills TEQs kills custodes just as well, or even better due to the lack of a native invuln or FnP.

I will, a 10 man squad of mixed options seems to be a good option as you can block some attacks, then tank some wounds with the stormshield dudes. Best of both worlds but its gonna cost 580pts which is ridiculous but still will do it.

For the Block special rule I assume that its if a unit hits Custodes on a 4+ the Custodes have to roll a 5+ to block it, right? The roll has to be higher than the roll to hit needed when comparing weapon skills, right?.
>>
>>49891221

I'm in a similar quandry with BA, but I came to the realisation that, by and large, the worthwhile units are worthwhile in every legion. If nothing else, the contents of BaC/BoP give you enough to be getting on with, especially if you're sensible enough to use some magnets so you can swap them out as tacticals, support, heavy support etc. That way you can commit without really committing.

Also, I've decided to make some AL to occupy me in the mean time. Just acquired some interference blue/green paint for the very task, I relish the challenge.

Those are Velitii, anon. Literal plebz disbanded after the Marian reforms. The Ultramarines are based after these reforms, so they use legionnaries (milites) as a general soldier, and auxilia as, well, as auxilliaries.
Eeasy peasy lemon squeezy.
It is the Taghmata (google the name) the ones who are modelled after the pre-Marian reform roman infantry, using maniples, cohorts, Triarii (vehicle) and even Lorica as armour.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velites
>They did carry small wooden shields called parma for protection though, and wore a headdress made from wolf skin so their brave deeds could be recognized
>Velites were eventually disbanded after the Marian reforms

Back in the day nobody called bizantines to the bizantines. They called themselves romans because that's what they were, and everybody called them greeks because that's what they spoke.
Lorica is indeed the word for armour (like gladius means "sword"), but names are what we are talking about here.
MCs come in maniples
When transporting your units, it comes down to the Triarii
The Mechanicum division for building spaceships is the Basilikon Astra
Kataphrons are armoured servitors, not unlike the armoured Cataphract cavalry. There are Ballistarius, etc...

If not really based on pre-marian Romans (and greeks), then at least the generality of the Mechanicum speaks greek.

Consider splitting your termie squad into two squads, thats a massive pile of overkill. you'll never need more than two chainfists per unit, and its best to give them to non-characters so they cant be challenged out. Give them a powerfist instead. Other than that, pretty good. I'd skip the Mortis dread and either take a second chaplain if you take two units of termies, or a cortus dread with one CC arm. You've got lots of scoring units, an absolute beatstick in Batman, decent anti-air in the Dorito and no obvious weaknesses. You know about the 2+ stealth/shrouded/spooky astartes cover save on first turn trick for your assault squad, right?

White Scars were known for how much they used MKIII nigga, remember most of the heresy they weren't really in a position to be engaging in open ground battles with the warmasters forces, so their bikes didn't see much use.

Instead they were using their superfast ships to harrow the warmasters forces in raids on their ships and zone mortalis missions, where MKIII realy shined and they used it most.

You get a five-up cover save every first tirm that cant be stacked with cover. You can stack it with stealth and shrouded though, both of which batman has native, so plonk him with twenty man assault squad/fifteen raptors and enjoy dodging everything short of a typhon
since you'll get night fighting on a 2+, that means most games you'll have a 4+ at the start anyway as well. Never forget the big pile of bonuses you get during night fighting and outnumbering
>>
>>49897144
Too many people seem to forget that White Scars aren't just about bikes (that's the Ravenwing's shtick) but rapid deployments and fast attacks against crucial points. That does include infantery in ATC's disembarking, blowing their load, re-embarking and zooming off to the next objctive.

So, with the release of BoP I'm gonna keep a few bodies to build a sort of diorama featuring the 18 HH legions.
What armour mark should I build each Legion with?
I was thinking something like this:

I - DA MkIII
III - EC MkIV
IV - IW MkIII
V - WS MkIII
VI - SW MkIII
VII - IF MkVII
VIII - NL MkV
IX - BA MkIII
X - IH MKIII
XII - WE MkV
XIII- UM MKIII
XIV- DG MkIII
XV - TS MkIV
XVI - LW MkIV
XVII - SM MkIII
XVIII - WB MkIV
XIX - RG MkVI
XX - AL MkIV

For some reason, I really like the idea of an imperial fist in MkVII armour, It would also be the first MkVII armoured model I paint, as the rest are converted to MkVI, but I might give it a go in MkIII.

For the IW, I find MkIII and it's large plain surfaces offer a lot of space for weathering and battle damage, also MkII is the only armour I don't own and enjoy the least.

>>49897278
Yeah, I was debating between MkIII or V for the Scars, might go for a MkV that integrates a few MkIII pieces, maybe some sort of field modification to allow for greater mobility, like a 'What if the Scars were in charge of designing their own MkVI?' situation.

Hello from /k/!
I pre-ordered four Prospero boxes, and some new Mechanicus spray bottles for my Space Wolves army. I will however be trading away my Custodes, Sisters, Ahriman models and three of the Fell Handed models and am looking to trade to fill gaps in my 1500 point army.

1500 points-
Preator, two 20 man tac squads with apothecaries and extra ccw (sgt. with artificier armor and power weapons, melta bombs) one tac support squad with flamers, one with plasma. That leaves me at 1170 points.
What should I add next? I was thinking a predator trio, nice and powerful, something to run ahead and soak up points will scaring the shit out of other tanks as that 370 points gives me a fair amount of wiggle room for additions.
>>
>>49896959

yuck.
To answer your question, you'll be very vulnerable to long-range shooting, so i recommend some things to close the distance rapidly, or things with enough range to provide cover. Podded leviathan dreads or sicarians are both good additions no matter what, although leviathans arent very fluffy for the yiffs. Predators also work well, but you have an extreme weakness to vehicles and mechanised lists. You could also consider some artillery, either quad mortars or Medusas.
>>
>>49899371

I use drill and melta usually since i fucking hate Knight faggotry. Stormcannon is best when you lack mid-strength firepower to add to your heavy firepower, but you already have too much anti-infantry and not enough heavy stuff. Melta lance or grav bombard. Melta lance is still a three-shot lascannon even if your opponent has AC, and if you have a pod you'll be in range all day long

Theres Age of Darkness legions, and theres Age of Darkness army list. You want the army list
>>
>>49899893
I think you might be looking at the wrong book then. The one you want does NOT have the Eye of Horus on the cover.

It should have a winged skull on it.

>>49899915
Wait, really?
>>
>>49899915
Would it be easy enough to cut it?
>>
>>49899923
>>49899926
Thank you, I've been up for close to 18 hours with no food today. I'm a little spacey
>>
>>49899958
Eat, /k/omrade. No need to fast for the /k/ube.
>>
>>49900009
But I do for the Navy. Need to drop another 30 pounds, have dropped 200. From 495 to 289
>>
>>49900045
Good!

But not eating is almost as bad as overeating, iirc. You still need nutrients.
>>
>>49899897
you really thought the plastic cataphractii were bad? is that a common opinion?
>>
>>49900057
It's only for one day a month.
>>
>>49900071
Nah.

I just hate how the plastic Tartaros improve on FW's in every way, come with an Autocannon, Heavy Flamer, Plasma Blaster, and Volkite Charger, while the only special weapon in the Cataphractii box is the Heavy Flamer.
>>
>>49900115
I think they learned from their mistakes, which is why we're not getting something similar to the plastic contemptor and instead are getting super unique and customizable custodes/sisters. I'm pretty fucking impressed from what I've seen so far.
>>
Anyone have ideas how to make the Grav-Gauntlet? I've got this mental image of like a mechanical hellboy hand but don't really know how I would go about making it?
>>
>>49900388
I was thinking a dread-sized power fist with some grav-gubbins in the palm and wires coming off it everywhere
>>
>>49900437
also an option, but I'm running my Praetor in artificier armour so that might be a bit much
>>
>>49896767
>>49896875
In the darkness all men are equal, save for those who embrace it.
>>
>>49900115
>>49900290

Their biggest mistake in both boxes is providing sufficient powerfists, chainfists, and lightning claws to fully equip the squad, while including only a single sword and no other power weapons. Five fists plus a couple of chainfists and sets of lightning claws would have been plenty, and would have left space on the sprue for power weapons.
>>
>>49900727
if they came with 5 power weapons or 5 volkites, what would be the point of buying the forgeworld sets? you have to think about it from a business perspective, even though it would've been way more useful with a variety on the sprue...giving limited options means more forgeworld orders.
>>
Ooooooh damn
Okay, so I ordered four boxes at full price, no sales tax (CA)
Thats $600.
But I can get four boxes for $470 on eBay instead. Should I go ahead and cancel my pre-order with my LGS or just suck it up as "Next time check the internet first" learning experience?
>>
>>49900771
Or just ask your store guy for a small discount and still support them.

Your choice.

Also, what Legume are you going for?
>>
>>49900388
Yeah hellboy gubbins sounds good.

Best bet would probably some wires and maybe skitarii bits?
>>
>>49900803
legume?
If you meant legion, SW's.

And he already gave me tax off. But this is $130 off, and yeah I wouldn't have it on the 29th, but damn if that isn't a convenient reason to wait 3-5 days
>>
>>49900828
I know your pain, but...uggh.

I just moved to bumfuckistan and I have no home store anymore, so thats my reaskn for being a bit biased.

SW sounds nice, I am painting around a bit on some Calth stuff I got on ebay cheaply to help me find a colour scheme I prefer.

Somehow torn between traitor EC due to that glorious purple or maybe even loyalist WB due to the imperial herald scheme being sort of bad ass in grey.

All that scripture I might put on those armours...

Hard to do but cool.
>>
ayy
>>
>>49900875
Actually innadesert or just fucking nowhere, USA?

And I think I might just eat the cost and support my local store. Well, it's not really local, it's a 30 minute drive, but I am gonna get them the 28th and they are the closest place to me.
>>
>>49900951
Kek.

Still, fighty as fuck stats.
>>
>>49900964
Nah, rural europe.

Just sipping my breakfast coffe.

I know the distances are nothing compared to yours, but at a certain point its not really viable anymore.
>>
>>49900967

He's good, but I don't see him upsetting Scoria or Horus for the Horusmania belt.
>>
>>49900983
So rural you can be hasguns, or rural as in no immigrant crisis?

I feel it. But then again, Europe has such a high density of Warhammer players I am sure you could find three or four bodies with armies where you live to start a club.
>>
>>49901004
His rules might change that though.

Hopefully.
>>
>>49901020

Nah, there's no reason for him to be beating Horus. Seeing as Horus has actually kicked his shit in.
>>
>>49901006
Both, dont have a gun though.

Might actually be a good idea, thanks!

Also, if you have tavs in Storm-Eagles...giving them bolters seems a bit wastefull.

What do you think?
>>
>>49901029

Pffft!

Have you no wolves?!

>Horus deserves to be the stronkest, so yeah...
>>
>>49900951
>breaker of shields, bringer of ruin
Hopefully that means he gets Siggy's rerolling successful invuln saves schtick. I seriously hope he gets something more than that. I'm not even a yiff and think he's dissapointing
>>
>>49901029
>>49901071

Sanguinius is the only primarch that might have a case for beating pre-chaos Horus in a scrap.

>>49901116

It's temporary rules, because apparently those fucks at FW haven't even started writing proper ones for him yet.
>>
>>49893050
>dat exquisite helmet
FW pls ;__;
>>
>>49901358
My favoruite helmets are actually EC ones and Breacher/Medusan Immortal ones.

UM's are, just like their whole legion, a bit overboard.

Ec is on the border, but I like the wierd bird-man optic.

And the Breacher/Medusan ones are intimidating in their simplicity, cool as fuck.
