Almost every marine had Volkite in the beginning of the Crusade, but the larger the legions grew and the more Vokite made the resources scarce.
>>
>>49881230
Why can't tac squads take chargers or whatever the volkite equivalent of a bolter is for x points? I mean, Solar Auxilia dudes get them standard! Something feels wrong about that.

>>49881282
But why can't I make a Great Crusade themed list where everyone has volkite without resorting to Solar Auxilia?

Because then FW would have to do a GC book series, Inferno would be delayed(again), and BL would see this and decide to add salt in our wounds by making more novels with more daddy issues that will cause mass suicides.

Now that's my kinda chapter!

Not sure why, but alright.
Current list:
>20 tacticals with extra CCW and AA+meltabomb+spear sarge (played as 2x10 veterans until I get more stuff)
>10 volkite charger support squad with extra CCW and AA+meltabomb+spear sarge
>10 seekers with AA sarge
>double kheres contemptor-mortis
>5 phoenix terminators with grenade harness and shriekers in a dreadclaw
>2 apothecaries with AA+scanners
>champion with AA+meltabomb+spear, extra stuff if the points allow (sometimes used as a praetor until I get more stuff)
>Fulgrim
Total is about 2.1k, or fits into 1850 without Fulgrim. Strategy is "footslog and hope for the best until I've painted enough to be able to buy transports without feeling bad".

Near future additions:
>breachers if BoP gets upgrade kits, LR phobos for them
>assault marines if they get plastic kits, Eidolon alongside them
>palatine blades to hang with Fulgrim
>LR phobos or spartan for Fulgrim's crew or phoenix terminators
>rhinos and/or LR proteus for seekers and tactical support
>javelins and/or jetbikes

You get out, shoulder-fired Lascannons on FW MkIII will never not be amazing.

Iron havocs need a points reduction and have their lascannons be cheaper. Then and only then would I consider running them. Free autocannons versus lascannons that make the unit almost double price is never a good idea.

Late night writefaggotry. Cassian Dracos a best.

“Commander, sensorium readout: enemy Dreadnought inbound.”

Draker whipped his brow away from its rest on the viewfinder, the protective instincts of all tank commanders for their vehicle rising immediately into action. Running down these ragged, disparate dogs, this refuse of Istvaan was good sport, and made suffering to serve on this errand with the wretched sons of Fulgrim almost bearable. It would not do to perish in flame and rending shrapnel now, where finally and at last Commander Draker of the Iron Warriors was the grinder, and not the meat. “Proximity,” he snapped, but Vorlov sat at great labour at the comms and sensorium, dealing with the mayhem wrought by the electronic warfare of the black-clad XIXth Legion elements of their prey. At last, he turned to where Draker stood rapt.

All too late.

“I AM COME.”

Amplified to thunder by vox, the words tore through even the hull of the Draker’s Sicaran, ringing through the cramped interior at volumes that would have deafened any lesser than its posthuman crew.

Vorlov’s face was awash with green from the dataglyphs scrolling across the sensorium’s display. “Less than 10 metres, Comma-“

All too late.

Thunder rolled again, and the claustrophobic world of the Sicaran’s interior exploded into catastrophic movement. Draker knew instantly what was transpiring, as he was battered on all sides by his own crew, by crushing impacts with the walls and consoles of his very tank. They were rolling, side over side. The came to a bone-rattling halt as they struck some nameless scar in the land, and for the briefest of moments, all was stillness and quiet
>>
>>49883800
you might be right, but my interpretation was that they were the new recruits experimented on to increase strength, new recruits that get choppy in the front lines definitely need to replace parts of their gear.

>>49883815

>>
>>49883827
Them also being cobbled together parts sounds great. Definitely think the WE T slit gladiator style helmets is what I'd go for
>>
>>49883820
And then, like a bell that tolls for vengeance, blows rang out on their hull, which dented inwards, which cracked.

“I HAVE COME TO AVENGE MY LEGION”

Draker stared up at the nearly breached section of his Sicaran’s interior. He groped for his pistol. Blood ran down his gauntlet, onto the pistol’s grip. Centimetres. Almost.

There was roaring, and shaking. Molten slag fell on him in burning rain. Light opened up above, and he beheld a dragon.

Draker had fought by the Lord of Iron’s side, and had seen the work wrought by a Primarch’s hand. But never like this. This was metal made myth, the Last Master of the Salamanders reborn in iron and fire. And truly reborn was he, for he was interred in no sarcophagus. No tomb for Cassian Dracos, whose ruined form sat, resplendent in armour wrought for him in emerald ceramite by his father, at the core of the most magnificent engine of war ever conceived by the same. The maws of dragons crowned him, on his plate was graven “REVENANT”, and he was wreathed in flame.

“I HAVE COME…” Spoke the dragon.

“You were dead! We smote you on Istvaan! Bastard! You were dead!” Draker still reached for his pistol. He knew it was fruitless. Centimetres. Still.

The Dragon raised its claw. “…I HAVE COME TO DESTROY YOU.” Draker saw something there, some brightness gather, and then all was fire.

***

Just realized I hadn't edited the first proclamation of arrival by Master Dracos to say "I have come", like his later ones. Oh well, it's late.

The berserkers are a very old kit. Compared to modern marine models, the hands are much too big and the pauldrons are too small. You can sometimes get away with using chest pieces, legs, or heads if you are willing to do a lot of shaving and filing.
>>
>>49884211
oh definitely. when I got back into the 40k hobby last year with grey knights I couldn't believe how fantastic the terminator set was. and the dark vengeance box models were so damn detailed. luckily I think the khorne berserkers aged WAY better than the old chaos marine sprues.

I turned 50 of the 60 marines from BaC into the following Imperial Fists:

3x 10-man Veteran Tactical squads w/ 2 Heavy Bolters per squad
1x 10-man Phalanx Warder squad
6x Marines w/ Missile Launchers (enough for a Heavy Support choice)
2x Marines w/ Melta Guns (to swap into the Veteran Tactical teams in place of Heavy Bolters if needed)
2x Marines w/ Plasma Guns (as above)

So I still have 10 Mk 4 marines unassembled and awaiting their fate. I have 21 marines with bolters, more than enough for a full non-Veteran Tactical Squad so I don't need more tacticals. I've been considering getting some of those cool bolters with the scopes from Forge World, green-stuffing some cloaks, and turning those 10 marines into Seekers since BS 6 Imperial Fist Seekers w/ special ammo will be disgusting.

The 90 marines from BoP will probably become 2 full 20-man tactical squads of Iron Warrior loyalists and once those are done I'll have a plan for the remaining 70.

For the Emperor!

But why?
Play the legion you like, using mk parts you like. Hell you can mix parts from diffrent marks if that is your thing.
There was no time like this before, with so much freedom to choose from tons of space marines bits from all the ranges, and to limit yourself cuz of some autist that will unironically yell "heresy!!!" if you decide to combine those bits.
Limiting yourself destroys most important part of the hobby, and that is fun.

I think it depends what you'll do with them. If you want to keep all your dudes in the Rhino, having two heavy bolters shooting out of it would be nice. Legs are still useful, though the running ones might need some adjusting to not look like tipping over. Torsos are fine and add some variety to units. Helmets are perfectly usable, if you don't want to get FW ones. It's really the arms and the backpacks that are horrible.
>>
Are there any good models for non-Astartes power armor wearers? Was considering a Militia army with Survivors of the Dark Age.
>>
>>49885680
Not really. Maybe look into making MkI style suits? MkVI legs, MkIV torso without the cabling (assault/destroyer squads), Cadian helmet with the goggles/visor and a top knot, segmented shoulder pads and a MkVII style backpack.
>>
>>49885678

>>
>>49884694

>>
>>49886473
My rule is one 'powerful' tank/squadron per 1000 points. So for a 1500 point game I may take a sicaran, when the limit is 2000 points I may include a land raider achilles, dedicated transports don't count.

Of course this is a guideline and totally depends on how much you want to forge the narrative or be a cheese monger.

basically giant mosquitoes that are psykers, they teleport their eggs via the warp into peoples brains. The eggs hatch and the larva eats the brain and then bores out. Nostramo, Cthonia, Caliban, and Barbaus. I would say the WBs' homeworld should count but only because Lorgar ruined the property value by living on it.
>>
>>49887526
Caliban was monsters everywhere, but the few fortified castles would have been alright.
Chemos was a factory that blew up I think, so they could make artificer tech so k.
Olympia is bickering city states that are too fortified to be taken so nothing changes in war.
Chorgis is just space mongolia, so not that bad for the nomads.
Fenris, caliban tier monsters, but you're drunk so it's k.
Macragge is civilised, so as long as you don't naysay a senator it's k.
Baal is nuclear winter, so probably the most hellish as I don't think it had any permanent settlements.
Inuit is just cold nothing else.
Horus' homeplanet is gangers so that's pretty fucked.
Prospero has already been said.
Barbarus is toxic hellhole with daemon knights and human serfs so pretty shitty
Nostramo is basically a slaanesh daemon world but not really, so also pretty fucked.
Angron, you're a slave and get tortorued then die, or you're a patrician that drinks the tiers of the plebs.

Cant be bothered to do the rest.
But I'd say
Prospero
Barbarus
Horus HW
in that order

The one with the left leg on the groun is good as is, just angle the other leg a little. The other leg really just needs to be modeled so that it's coming down heel first, which gives it a much more of a running stance.

Well, the 'Luna Wolves' who fought against the Traitors on Isstvan III were still wearing their SoH colours with just the insignia defaced.

It would be a bit strange for Loyalist SoH to keep their colours after leaving the Legion (presumably not from Isstvan III, since all of them died there). That said, they could be recent inductees with no ties to the Luna Wolves, and so no desire to go back to the old colours.

>>49887756

They were still the Luna Wolves at Ullanor. The name/colour change only happened after Davin and Horus' "recovery"

Well, what do you expect? Most of the MkIIs, IIIs, IVs, etc. are pretty copy-pasted. It is a "production" model, after all. The two non-production ones you'll find are the same with slight alterations in helmet and other bits, but otherwise mostly the same.

I have no idea where people got the "MkV was named as such after the Heresy to designate all the plethora of custom suits slapped together." If it's after the Heresy, why the fuck is the MkVi and VII the numbers they are, even during the Heresy? Or why aren't all custom suits MkV?
>>
>>49889932
"Production" MkV is also supposed to he a slap-dash job made as quickly as possible with cheap-ass materials. MkV refers to any armor present during the heresy that was made at the last minute with any possible materials, including the infamous "mix and match" armor sets worn by some legionnaires who had to scavenge for replacement parts.

It says late crusade and still going trials by the Raven Guard. On past threads we were talking about this, they said Corvus, now MkVI, was being produced after the heresy but MkVII soon superceded it.
MkV is called "Heresy" pattern because it exists entirely due to the heresy, as an armour that could be made out of garbage was needed and extra plating was added because mankind faced the greatest foe ever: other space marines.
Sorry about calling you a retard. I was exorted to butchery.
