Taking a stab at this from my understanding of 5e, I'd go with:

Making Bayonetta would be very difficult. Her powers are vast and disparate. You're going to need some form of caster, but you'll still not really be able to do everything she does and will also have a bunch of unrelated junk you didn't need/want.
Otherwise, I'd start w/ a Sorceror going full-out gish (Abjurant Champ. 5, Spellsword 1, any other way to buff BAB and spellcasting simultaneously). Perhaps a Stalwart Battle Sorc, but that'd be a giant waste if not staying in sorc anyway.

Bayonetta uses a goodly amount of martial arts, too. So Ascetic Mage or Psion feat with a dip, possibly. Like I said, it's difficult.


Fire-arms can be done with Spell-slinger, but Amateur Gunslinger will probably suffice regardless of the class.

Shape-shifting can be done with regular shapshifting, though if you want it a bit more at-will you might look into Warlock for the shape-shifting invocations to be found the and finally give her access to Ghostwalk feats without being a ghost.

Actually, quite a strong combo, now that I think about it. You'd be quite brutal in melee with pretty good defenses to boot, and also some AoE and control effects. That could be a really strong character at high levels. Huh.

Witch Time: Is a linked type power array with immunity to dodgeable attacks and a incredibly powerful multiattack power based either on melee attacks or guns (that's why it is an array). You can also do it as a slowing power but you'll need area of around 98 (I think, need to check) to cover whole universe.

Wicked Weaves: Is a reach melee attack array that allows to use some grapple moves and play with attack/damage ration for melee attacks. Also looks nice.

Torture Attacks: Something like a grapple linked and based attack power with sick damage (because opponent is less likely to dodge from a grapple). Feature: Describe how exactly you torture your enemy.

Infernal Demons Summoning: Hard to do. They either need to break PL or you need to pile up a shitton of different things on them to really screw up your opponents. Possible but will require a lot of work.

Those effects make absolutly no sense.

SHe could have a tap effect where she brings a demon from your hand into the battlefield or maybe she could destroy on opposing White minion when she is played.

If you go with the summon demon part, you have to limit it on the field for only the combat phases, since her whole gimmick is that her summons disappear after beating someone.

She could deal extra damage to white minions, but not destroy them, since she still has to attack all her enemies in the game.

She could have a skill where she can roll a dice or something to be able to block an attack without taking damage, due to witch time.

Did anybody else feel that Bayonetta failed at capturing the spirit of Devil May Cry?

DMC was over the top, but it was serious at times and had decent characters and humor.

Bayonetta... didn't.
