The year is 1631 and the Thirty Years War rages on. The Swedish army is on the march to Würzburg, which is the region’s most important political, religious, and thanks to the Marienburg Fortress, military center. Karlstadt is directly in the army’s path, and many fear that the army is keen on taking revenge for the sack of Magdeburg. The Swedish anger is further stoked by Swedish king Adolphus's hatred of witches, and belief that the Prince-Bishop and populace of Catholic heretics are abiding witchcraft. The army will reach its destination in 8 days.

Rumors say that 10 days ago, a group of sorceresses known as The Seven overthrew the ruling class of Karlstadt and laid down their own law: "There will be No More War", disarming the people and closing down all of the churches. The Prince-Bishop o fWürzburg, secluding his own men behind the city walls, has promised a bounty of 1,000 silver pieces for the head of each of The Seven, 10,000 silver pieces if the heads of all seven are delivered.

We currently have 3 players (including me) but could use more.

I got a good group together and we ran for about a year before IRL changes broke us up. It took a fair bit of trying, though. Most people are flaky.
I also tried Roll20's LFG system, but the people I got from there were generally even flakier.

I'd say it's a general rule that most games will fall apart sooner or later. So plan on one-shots and short arcs, not big long epic campaigns that will take years to finish. Once you find a core of good people, you can take give that a try.

I was just trying to get a feel for the game and figure out how to adjust the settings properly for it, I said I would play with them some other time. After I had some time to figure it out and felt comfortable with it I checked Discord and saw that I had been removed from the group.

I'll give the guy credit though, at least he gave a response when I asked him about it on roll20

>>49899742
The worst part is that I didn't even get to do anything. Though I've taken the liberty of disabling the thing that tells people what I'm playing on Discord since then, so hopefully I won't have to deal with that in the future.

I think I might take a break from trying to get into games for a while after this...

>But why you?
I'm a reliable player and a decent writer who can craft characters with believable motivations and ambitions. I'm fine with whatever kind of story the GM wants to tell, but my characters always have clear goals and a desire to achieve them, so they also won't flounder in a sandbox. number of reasons.
1. 3.x is the system I am most familiar with. I never need to look up rules because I know most of the rules all ready. Not only this but because I'm familiar I can improvise.
2. Pathfinder has prepublished adventures and I don't currently have the time to do something not prepublished.
3. It's the easiest system to find players for.
4. Just because the game will have lewd situations doesn't mean I want that to be the focus.

Suggest another prepublished campaign for another system and maybe I'll consider that system but for now I can only devote a single day to GMing a game so I need something I can prep in a few hours pregame.

Either Kingmaker or Wrath of the Righteous are top of the list for me, but honestly only a few ones I wouldn't run (Skulls and Shackles, and Jade Regent top of that list)

I'd need to do it on a Weekday(Looking at Tuesday or Wednesday) around 8pm EST.

currently I have one player and would like 2-3 more.

Kink-wise you'd be looking at traps tentacles Noncon as major themes. As for things I would avoid Wasteplayhigh levels of necro and potentially some beast

Hm, never played kingmaker or Wrath of the Righteous. I hear the kingdom building rules are kinda clunky though, and Wrath of the Righteous has mythic rules, which some like and some don't. Personally, I'd be down for a lewd pathfinder game on Wednesdays. Out of curiosity though, when you say non-con, how hardcore are we talking? Like, mindbreak and dub-con are amazing in my book, and less-serious Rance style rape is fine, but if the girl is crying and legitimately scarred by the event, I feel too bad to enjoy it at all. Also when you say beast, does that include stuff like minotaurs, werewolves, and demons with monstrous cocks? Cause that stuff's fun IMO.
>>

Currently the group stands at three players: a journalist for a tabloid rag, a local architect and general handyman, and Irish muscle for the local mob. We also had an Ivy League professor who dropped the game due to real life circumstances and a sort of freelance archaeologist who dropped somewhat more perfidiously because he doesn't enjoy the mythos. Though none had actually appeared by the time he dropped and still haven't other than a bit of the Dreamlands.

So far we've run The Haunting with a couple close shaves but no deaths. So far I've tried to keep it more sedate than the traditional CoC campaign and it's been more slice-of-lifey than horror. The nature of text roleplay is also more lackadaisical than an in-person group or even a completely voiced campaign, so if you join expect a chill atmosphere. It's not intended to be a campaign with a high character turnover, but it IS Call of Cthulhu so don't be alarmed if it happens. Good vibes, man.

This game will be taking place in the Dominions 4 universe and will be organized and played over Roll20. You needn't be familiar with Dominions to play, it's just serving as a setting on which to run my own game.

There are a couple house rules to the base game, but most of them comprise of new systems to make the Godbound resemble Dominions more. Key things are going to be making Pretenders revive based on the faith of their followers, meaning all Pretenders are going to be immortal unless the cults that support them are scattered, introducing Magic Sites and Gems to be used alongside Dominion to weave miracles and make Features, and finally homebrewed Low Magic

Players can expect a focus on nation building, faction interaction, and discovery

Need one more player to round us off at 4 after a different one dropped due to dislike of the campaign. If you're looking for a combatfest every session, you will be sorely disappointed

So me and a couple friends of mine discussed the context of a sort of mass game of Dark Heresy utilizing a bunch of one shots to make an overarching narrative. I put up a thread a couple weeks back and got enough interest that we went ahead and started fleshing the idea out and throwing together the structure needed for this sort of meta narrative/game. If you're interested in the concept join the discord- I have to sleep tonight but whoever is around tomorrow i'll give the run down. Ideally we would like to get a larger than normal group since I intend on having a couple of us DM. Might as well click the link and see what I have to say, right?

I'm trying to find a group to introduce me to any system at all, but I'm not sure if online is the best place to learn even the basics of roleplaying games. I'm also gonna be at a more permanent destination by the beginning of next year, so should I look for a shop or meeting spot when I get to my duty station? Do people even just play with new randys at those things, or am I too hopeful?

Roleplaying games are stupid easy if you aren't socially illiterate, like all roleplayers are.

Find a group of like-minded people who are interested in roleplaying games, be they friends, a game shop, a meetup.com group, faggots from /tg/, roll20, whatever.

Then, play a game with them. Play a game that fits your tastes. Popular choices for systems are D&D (trash), Shadowrun (trash), Fate (Meh), Savage Worlds (Meh), Powered by the Apocalypse games such as Dungeon World and Apocalypse World (Meh), 40k RPGs like Dark Heresy (Trash), Call of Cthulhu (Meh), GURPS (Meh), etc.

People will play with other people. You'll probably have the most luck finding a D&D game, since it's the cancer keeping tabletop gaming alive. There isn't a "best" way to learn, but there are many wrong ways to learn. A big one to look out for is when your GM or other players ignore or try to force your character to act a specific way. Those people want to write a story, not play a game of pretend with friends.

Oh, I forgot: Avoid any Chronicles/World of Darkness games, like Vampire: the Masquerade. Nobody who plays them are mentally stable, because the subject matter attracts absolutely garbage people.

Just because the voices tell me to light children on fire doesn't mean I'm mentally unstable.

What's your tolerance for newbies? I haven't touched 7e.

What games fit your tastes?
>>
>>49928460
Games as in systems? I like systems that can be learned and then used for a wide variety of games. Savage Worlds, Fate, and GURPS fit the bill, but Fate is too shallow for my tastes, and nobody I game with likes Savage Worlds, and nobody plays GURPS because the memes are too dank.

I also like systems that has a strong identity with the mechanics to back it up. Specific systems trump generic systems when they're well-built. Nechronica, the half-translated mess that it is, fits the bill, since I won't get Nechronica from any generic system. The fluff and mechanics are one in the same. 4e D&D fits as well, even though the fluff is only a line or two before digging into the mechanics. It's the best dungeon-crawling experience I've ever had from any game, because of the dungeoncrawl-focused mechanics.

Games as in the type of game I like to play? I've been asking myself that question a lot lately. I think it boils down to anything that I can come up with an interesting character for. Even if it's my most favoritest setting using my most favoritest system evar, I wouldn't play in it if I couldn't come up with a character I want to play.

This means I usually GM, as having multiple characters (NPCs) mean I'm not locked into a specific character, and those multiple characters don't necessarily need to be interesting for me to play, as I'm using them as tools to enhance the players' experience. I get my enjoyment as a GM from players and their characters, not my own.

Of course, I have settings I like and don't like. I like fantasy of most sorts, historical games, pulpy adventure, street to city-level supers, cyberpunk, westerns, weeaboo bullshit, etc. But the most important part is that I have a character I want to play. Having some sort of theme, conflict, or idea to explore usually works best. I play good guys, bad guys, socially adept, socially retarded, pragmatic, idealistic, "neutral" people that don't meander close to any real archetype, whatever.

Ah, I see
I was mostly asking because you seemed either apathetic towards or critical of every system you listed, all of which most people generally like at least one (I think, at least)
It seems like you do enjoy those same systems though

Totally agree about the system specificity by the way, it's much more fun to play something geared towards a genre/style of play than tweak a generic to fit it

I noticed you mentioned you enjoy cyberpunk games, any settings you particularly like to use?
I'm looking to run a more modern version (less pink mohawks and battle rockers) and am still looking for inspiration

Copied from my Roll20 profile page:
"My name is Erin. I am new to Roll20 but not to table top gaming. I rolled my first bard when I was 12 back in the 2E days and I played dungeons and dragons consistently through high school and college. I'm mostly familiar with 3.5 but I'm interested in 5E and Pathfinder as well. I am 30 years old now and sadly I have very few opportunities to game these days. I LARP once a month, but I'd really enjoy a chance to play games that don't require spending 3 days away from home as well. I live on the east coast of America but I work the night shift so I need games that play in off hours so gaming groups in Europe and Australia are of especially high interest to me."

Actually, from my experience I've found that WoD players tend to be fairly chill, with the not chill ones being able to be picked out as bad eggs from a mile away. Every WoD I've been on through Gamefinder has been a blast.

Now, another part from experience is that I've found the most autists in games like D&D/Pathfinder, FATE, Savage Worlds, and anything vaguely anime related.
