Magic used to be the most important driving force in progressing world civilization. As new forms of manifesting magic were discovered, they found new uses that helped progress society to new heights. For those with a connection to magic, each form or type of spell had the sense of an inherent "color" to it, something that could be felt but not described.

Inexplicably and without warning, though, this source of magic suddenly went "colorless," for lack of a better way to describe it. Magic no longer had any form, or direction. It couldn't be channeled into any specific use and simply became a source of raw power, nearly impossible to direct. The world's advances suddenly fell apart, new technologies no longer functioned, and society fell apart at the seams from its over-reliance on magic.

The artificial life left behind by mankind only gained their sentience after the end, with no memory from before, outside of tiny details.this comes from either places they were before the endtimes, or they are actually a human conscience transfered into the mechianical body, losing their memories in the process, except faded pieces, like a dream almost, and those only exist in a very small minority

If I get a nine I guess I will add that humanity went full cybernetic and it was a computer virus that spread through Bluetooth that erased everyone's memory of what happened to the humans. The Bluetooth symbol now causes some robots to feel nervous, but they are not sure why.
