Anybody ever play RPG's or wargames using Army Men as miniatures?
I find them to be a cheaper and easier to find alternative to most modern military minis and if you're lacking the appropriate minis, they can do in a pinch for a quick substitute.
Also, anyone ever consider making a homebrew RPG or wargame centered around Army Men as protagonists? Sort of like Toy Story or those old Army Men PS1 games.

Can't say that I have, but I do agree that cheap Army men and similar toys do make for good replacement miniatures for your home games if you're in a hurry or otherwise short-staffed.
I'd play an Army Men tabletop game.

brikwars can work as a ruleset as well.

There are some companies out there that have pretty good army men. Toys"R"Us has a fantasy line that is sometimes in stock. Aside from the dragon the figures are not bad.

They also have this pirate vs skeletons playset. A bunch of pirates look like they used Mordheim figures to make them.

Timmee has a cavemen set, science fiction, and fantasy warriors. The last figures are huge, perfect if you need some giants for the game.

those are suprisingly good looking. I wonder if it'd be worth it to buy a set and try to paint them as minis.
I prime and paint some army men if I want to try out some colors or if I need a quick proxy. Chopping bits off of them and making zombies is fun too

can I see any of these dudes?

They usually run around $10 each. I got the fantasy set on sale, two for $15. Not a bad collection of figures for that price, they are on the larger size, I'd say 40 or 45mm scale. You get a pile of terrain too.

Another company did a "Sparkle Dreamland Bucket". I got it off amazon for around $15. The dragons are pretty good, and the other figures are well detailed. I wish one of these companies did a fantasy monster bucket as well.

I've seen some legit painted army men posted once. Can't find them now, but maybe if you hit Google you could run into them.

Just going to post the rest of these. Knights from Toysmith, they were around $10. Not bad for what they are. The figures lack the detail of the Toys"R"Us stuff.
TimMee fantasy figures, about the size of traditional action figures. Allegedly these were re purposed wrestler and superhero toys. One of them looks just like Doctor Doom.
TimMee cavemen. The detail is a little lacking. One of the figures in this set is a smaller version of the fantasy figures set.
And here is the sci-fi set.

Brikwars? Couple times, it's not bad but if you play in the more autistic 'lolnorules' playstyle they push it's unbearable, but if you treat it kinda like a real war game it's basically over by the time you lose ~10-15% of your starting points worth of dudes. I'd be willing to bet bigger games buffer that out.
The soldier thing? Never seen or heard of it being played before.

I've seen some high tech looking toy soldiers at Wal-Mart. They might make decent IG figures.
