He didn't really have anyone to look up to. His kind don't really relate to one another at all in their own dimension, which is outside of any reality which we would recognise. He views he inhabitants of the dimension the adventure takes place in as something like toys, and their relatonships he only understands in the most vague sense. He wants to be like others of his kind who have successfully entered worlds of their own in which to play, but that's as far as it goes.

Since my BBEG is the elemental concept of Evil, born at the same time as the concept of Good at the start of the plane, the only thing it had to "look up to" was entropy and oblivion.

Hopefully, the players will one day recognize that in order to destroy Evil in the world, they must also destroy the concept of Good, and plunge the world into a muddling of moral and mundane grey.

Additionally, the alternate earth versions of the same character don't necessarilly have the same genes. They often look very different or can even just be different people taking up the same mantle. And even then, two people with the same genes can grow up differently from different diets, exercise, etc. Also, it's a silly fucking comic about breast envy, so there's to fucking reason to try to act all superior because you read a DC wiki or read through some shitty comics once.

These often take the forms of stuff like giant sea creatures in deep abysses, dragons resting below nations, or roaming wooly dinos creating land beneath their feet as they walk along the ever expanding coasts. In a BBEG's family, however, there is a legend of such a single human from the dawn of the world who is counted among these beasts. He exhibits of level and kind of magic which perplexes even those who have witnessed miracles. He seems to appear throughout time involving himself in affairs just enough for a diligent observer to notice. Her misinterpretation of one of his titles as an "Enchanter" led to her choosing the Enchantment school of wizardry as she sought the power to track down this man and learn his secrets. To that end, she has dedicated herself, forsaking the common notions of humanity in dedicated effort to become something more. We actually had our first kiss when she was 14(christmas) and we fooled around a bit when she was 15, her mom knew of her feelings and she gave us her blessing, started dating formally exactly on her 16th birthday, she moved in exactly on her 17th birthday, she was two months pregnant when she graduated highschool, we got married a week after she turned 18.

Great story. A guy manages to be his own mom, his own dad, his own mentor, his own true love, the lover who used him and walked out, his own son, and his protege.

I love the drunken tears at the end when as an old man he pines for the love of his life, wondering who all these strangers are who've been in his life, who he knows are just earlier/later timetravelling versions of himself, but who seem like other people when he meets them.

Our BBEG looked up to Dengar Dangerous, a swashbuckling rogue character, from a series of children's books when he was young. Although that is actually kinda irrelevant to him being the BBEG, as he actually had a lovely childhood with two parents who loved him. It was his adulthood that made him so jaded and bitter and spiteful.
