Can we have a Sword & Sorcery, retro fantasy, classic Dungeon & Dragons art thread? I find it extremely inspiring.
Garish and weird is very fine.
If art threads outside of the usual characters one is okay of course.

This is a classic. Bunch of grinning murder hobos lynched the fuck out of that baby dragon and stole his loot.
And that's all I have.

>mfw people consider this old
Goddamn. Am i old, /tg/?

It looks 70sy, even if it actually isn't.
Someone should post some of those Romantic era nymphs.
Man Larry Elmore was the fucking man

So the dragon ate the halfling right? Because seriously fuck halflings

You say that like it makes it better
More Caldwell incoming. Now I'm getting to his favourite subject, women with dragons.
Pretty sure this was on the cover of dragon at some point
This one is recent but in the older style of fantasy art
Ranger with a dragon and a pulp sci-fi spaceship.
Mermaid and a dragon
Woman with a dinosaur
And finally a woman makes out with a tentacle monster.

that right hand bugs me

that squid has seen some shit
this is the best kind of fantasy art for me

Dragon or Inquest Gamer, because I remember Inquest getting an angry letter from a pre-teen talking about how subscribers get the sexy covers, but newsstand copies didn't and the it explicitly pointed to this art.
>>49870240
it's Brom, so probably late 90's or even early 00's.

>Caramon's ridiculous helmet
From the painted fantasy comicbook epic "El Mercenario" (The Mercenary) by Vicente Segrelles.
It's not a particularly riveting comicbook storywise, but it's gorgeous.
Angus Mcbride, on /tg/ known and loved for his neat historical illustrations, including classics such as Laughing Varangians.jpg also Illustrated the Middle Earth Roleplaying books.

Whilst Caldwell was the undisputed champion of hot women, whether of the braids and buckskins, skimpy mail armour or revealing robes, Keith Parkinson wasn't a slouch either.
(And also, I love Lord Soth's Charge up there)
Also a thing for 80s aerobics instructor drow.
Speaking of Caldwell, I can see why men would choose to worship Takhisis.
Damn I hate nowadays trends
For the fans of beefcake browsing the thread.
The dullest gold box game of course had the best cover art.
If you're restricted to Bracers of AC x and can't wear armour, you might as well go the distance.
I think this was supposed to be Ren o' the Blade from the Pool of Radiance series of novels, although I could have sworn he had a beard.
For the halfling-hater up thread, I present Olive Ruskettle the bard.
And for the Oriental set, the hottest Minister of State Security (in red).
This one isn't AD&D, but might as well be. After all, the setting was by Weis and Hickman.
And now to something different. This is from Stormbringer. Imrryr never looked prettier.

Cover art is one thing. Show me the in-game models.
A stalwart of British fantasy art, this is Chris Achilleos. The skeleton with the big axe and the fancy hat from Fighting Fantasy also made an appearance in an old Warhammer Fantasy Battle rulebook.
And another British artist, who is probably remembered more for the WHFB skeleton horde pic (The one with the "We are Legion" banner.) This one was in the same WHFB rulebook as the big skeleton above.

Most annoying thing in that pic is, the *fucking kender* is the only one reasonably armored and dressed for the weather.
The aforementioned skeleton horde.
>>49875673
Every time I see this pic I'm reminded of someone shouting "hey, look" and then taking a photo when they do.
Also, who's that curly-haired woman on the right supposed to be? L to R, it's Raistlin, Caramon, Tanis, fucking Tasslehoff, Flint, Goldmoon, Riverwind, Sturm the best knight, unknown. Is she supposed to be Tika? Because for shame, Elmore, she's supposed to have big knockers. She's known for those and the frying pan.
Now here's Tika as she's supposed to look.
>>49875717
That's Sigourney Weaver, anon.

What I don't understand is why? WHY?! Why the fuck would you move from the top artstyle to the bottom one? You got more pixels, you got better graphics, artists can use computers to modify drawings a little faster. Why not improve on the artstyle on top? Why move to this shit with PAULDRONS OMFG?
